2009 VW Passat CC

rv65rv65 Posts: 1,074
The Passat CC is coming soon. Some cool new features. It won't be decontented like the regular Passat in 2009. A new Touch screen navigation system will be available with iPod integration. The MDI is a really cool adaptor that allows iPod, Aux-in and USB through special cables. iPod must use the iPod cable not the iPod sync and USB cable combined. Dynaudio will be offered and there will be a lux model. For all CC and potential CC owners chat away.

It's a car I'm looking forward to seeing & driving.
Never owned a German car; but recently had a rented 08 passat while my car was in the shop. Drove it over 2,000 miles was getting 32-34 mpg overall & absolutely loved the way it drove & handled. I drive a lot of miles & wish they would put the diesel in it; then I'd first in line at the dealership when it arrives.

Diesel is available in Europe. They have 3 or 4 diesels over there. Some don't have much power but they get really really good mileage.
  • Love the styling of this car! Anyone know what the msrp range is? My lease is up in a couple of months and will be in the market for a new sports sedan.

disclaimer:while these specs are believed to be 100% correct these specs are subject to change at anytime.

All the trims and options. The Navigation system is all new for 2009 and is a touch screen system and it actually has a 30 GB hard drive with 20 GB allocated for music. The backup camera and the MDI are delayed but you can retrofit it. A new tech feature for 09 is the new MDI. The MDI works with USB thumbdrives, Aux-in, and iPods through a special cable. The iPod cable is on backorder but can be ordered in Europe. You can also retrofit the MDI for a non tech RNS-510 enabled car. Hope this helps.

Just saw in one of the enthusiast magazines, I think "Automobile", that the base price would be south of $28000. I think the actual figure was $27,400.

This is the official pricing. Dynaudio is optional on the turbo 4 while the RNS-510 will get that cool backup camera. When you have it reverse the VW logo flips up to reveal the camera. The RNS-510 should be 30 GB Hard drive but then again 10 GB is used for storing the map. Music is around 20 GB but actually 18.62 GB. Hope this helps.

Starts at 27K to about 42k for a v6 4motion tech. Check my gallery for better pics.
  • I think the CC can be preordered now at dealers. But I guess this means paying MSRP . Does anyone know when there will be general availability in Dealer stock?

I heard November or December for availability. Something like that.
  • yeah..around that time , I put a call in to some dealers today here in NJ
most are saying early November to around Thanksgiving time. May vary for other parts of the country..Thanks

Apreciate the information. 27 K looks like a very competitive price; but the $31,900 for the top of the line seems to be a bit of a stretch for what you're getting for the additional 4 grand.

still looking forward to seeing & driving it; & it's still on my buy list when the Avalon goes next year.
  • rv65rv65 Posts: 1,074
That doesn't include Dynaudio or Navigation. If buying a lux then stretch for the Dynaudio. It's simply awesome. You get a high quality sound system for 1,000 USD. What a steal.

Edit: 31,990 is just for the Lux 4 cylinder.

Maybe the audio upgrade; don't need the nav. I travel with a Garmin portable & it does everything the factory units do for a lot less money. As for the engine, I've driven a turbo 4 passat over 2,000 miles while the Avalon was in the shop & find it to be most adequate and a lot of fun to drive.

They have a non Nav version of the RNS-510 coming out. Maybe for 2010. The RCD-510 has a cd changer and no hard drive. It's also compatible with the MDI which plays various devices including iPod's. Only the RNS-510 navigation unit works with the MDI. VW hasn't upgraded the non nav headunits yet. I think they will by 2010. The dynaudio system is a very highly rated system. It rivals most aftermarket systems
  • does anyone know why it says "tilt only" for the sunroof... is that implying it won't slide open like a regular sunroof?
  • rv65rv65 Posts: 1,074
It's one of those vent roofs but it has a panoramic view so all isn't too lost.
  • The roof of the CC is so curved that it will not allow a standard roof operation.

    Beautiful car. Very CLS'ish.

I test drove the 2.0T Luxury model yesterday. It looks great. Interior finish is very good. The seats don't have a lot of length. A taller driver might not be comfortable. The steering is excellent. It's very quiet and comfortable at highway speed. The bottomline for me, however, is it's a front-driver with a brittle low-speed ride. I'll pass.
  • I am an internet sales manager at a VW store in Dallas and here is my take on this car:
If you take our loaded VR6 4motion with navigation and sit it next to the benchmark car(CLS) you will quickly see that for 30k less, you get, in my opinion, a more attractive car with 90% of the content and driving character. This is a simple decision. I am selling faster than I can get 'em.

  • Beautiful body. But I can't stomach the two-tone beige/black seats. I don't want all black interior. Looking to replace my 2000 A4 and thinking of Acura or Lexus; my German cars have required too much costly repairs for me. Thought this might be a good (fantastic!) alternative (but back in the German fold) but can't stand the two-tone.
