I love my 2011 Jetta SE. I got the convenience and roof package. It truly feels much more expensive than it is. The maintenance is nice too! My 08 Jetta SE can cost nearly $100 sometimes to get it all done.

Definitely a great car with great bang for the buck. Great engine, safety and the rear room is nice. I got the white gold with cornsilk. A great color combo!
  • I have 2003 jetta wagon 86,200 miles other day would not start. Can push start it and runs fine. Does not seem like the battery, but there is no starter noise when you try to key start. Any thoughts suggestions help

Sounds like you answered your own question, check out the starter.

If it is an automatic, check the brake-pedal switch and neutral switch. The starter will not enguage if any of the safety-switches are not made.

If it is a manual xmission, check the clutch interlock swith.
  • I am having the same issue.... my horn works one day and not the next. i brought it in they said it's good to go and the next day it doesn't work again... sometimes when im driving it says NO KEY !!! I love my jetta but it's getting on my nerves... i am not going to the dealership every week especially one i only get one day off.....
  • Currently dealing w same issue in regards to 2011 Jetta pulling to right. After four services regarding same issue, well now vehicle pulls to both the right and left. Feel its a defective unsafe vehicle, hence a possible Lemon. Ugh.
  • I currently have the same issue w the 2011 Jetta. In service 4 times, now pulls to right snd to left. Exhausted w the whole situation, completely and utterly unacceptable.
  • Just wanted to thank you for your instructions on how to get the aux to work on the Jetta. I, too, could not get anywhere by reading the manual, no matter how hard I tried. Very frustrating!!! I googled a couple of times, and then found your letter. I tried it, and it works. Thank you so very much.

    Update:
    White Gold, Tan interior

I have had my Jetta about a year now. 15,500 miles already. I am really enjoying it! I can honestly say that for the money, I chose the right car. The love the engine, I came from an 08 G6 4cyl and this engine is night and day better!! Though similar specs. It is refined, smooth and quick. The car drives well and is composed. The car feels solid. The car has plenty of space. The rear is good for a car seat and family to ride in and not feel cramped. The truck is big too! Love the stereo system! It is clean, and offers many options. I like to stream through blue tooth using my iphone.
The materials used could be better, such as the door handles. But, it still looks good! I guess that is the point right? The dash is fine, you don't touch that. But, the tan interior looks better in my opinion than the black. I still get people asking about my car. They love the color combo.

When I detail the car, it is so easy to clean. The tan seats are easy to wipe clean. Literally looks the same as when I bought it. I never use cleaner or shine on the interior finishes. I have yet to actually wax the car myself, but the dealer did earlier this year and I have a membership at a car wash. The paint still looks shiny and waterproof.

    Issues:
    Horns had to be replaced
Stereo screen has went white a couple times in the summer. Hasn't happened in a long time again.

I can honestly say that I can't think of another car I want right now. Other than the GLI, but in this price line, it is a great value. I feel like I drive a higher priced car!!

I am glad to be in a VW.

Hello I just bought a 2011 jetta SE (auto) with 6500 miles.

I noticed that when I am backing out of parking spaces or turning and I have the need to turn the "wheels" all the way I get a squealing sound from underneath the car.

I have stopped mid squeal to see if for some reason, the tires were hitting or rubbing on the front bumper. There appeared to be no contact. But after getting back into my car and continuing the maneuver, the squeal stops.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

Any and all information is greatly appreciated.

One is never EVER supposed to hold the steering-wheel against the "stop" for any reason. This puts excessive load on the power-steering components. This fact is mentioned in the owners-manual of every vehicle I have ever owned. (Asian, German, domestic.... all of them)

I believe your 2011 VW has ELECTRIC power-steering. It may be a belt slipping you are hearing.

    Thank you for your reply.

I have not owned a VW in 10 years and my other current vehicles are Audis. I have never experienced this in my life.

Unfortunately, since it was a used car, it did not come with an owner's manual. I plan on purchasing one soon. :)

I was not sure if that problem was a defect in the redesigned Jetta. Thank you for your wisdom and kindness. ;)

i believe only the tdi models have electric power assist.

You said ==> "i believe only the tdi models have electric power assist."

The bottom line is still the same - holding steering-wheel against 'stop' is not desirable in ANY vehicle. A noise or slipping belt might be the least of one's worries if this becomes a habit.

I have a 2011 Jetta which was purchased new. It's the worst car on the face of the planet.

    12v adapters never worked
Ignition sticks, broke both keys (quoted over $700 for new ignition and keys)
Wouldn't shift, stuck in 3rd gear
Key stuck in ignition, can't turn car off

I had to park the car and leave it running until it ran out of gas because there was no way to turn it off. This is the absolute worst car imaginable. Never ever ever buy a Volkswagen!

IT CREATED AN UNSAFE SITUATION WHERE I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES AND LET THE TRAFFIC PASS BY, THEN PUT THE CAR IN MANUAL SHIFT SO THAT I COULD ACCELERATE ENOUGH TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC. THE INABILITY TO CONTROL THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO NO RESPONSE FROM THE ENGINE HAPPENS USUALLY AROUND SPEEDS OF 40 MILES AN HOUR. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE CAR WILL BE IN 6 GEAR AT VERY LOW SPEEDS AND FAILS TO DOWN SHIFT WHEN THE GAS IS PRESSED. THIS RESULTS IN A LOSE OF POWER AND DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO SAFELY MANEUVER THE VEHICLE IN EMERGENCY AND NON-EMERGENCY SITUATIONS.

  • You can file a complaint with the government agency that watches over recalls for safety issues like this http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov

Jetta is more than just sluggish, as some of its reviewers have stated, it is down right unsafe. When the car regularly takes several seconds to respond when you press the gas pedal, won't down shift, or misfires and results in a "reduction in performance" or what I call a several second complete loss of power, it puts you and other drivers around you at risk for accidents that could have deadly results.

Other effected models beetle golf rabbit eos gti r32 tiguan touareg hybrid cc.
