This is our 2010 Subaru Forester last September (2013) while on our transcontinental trip. I think this was in Saskatchewan, IIRC. We pulled off the freeway to marvel at a beautiful old concrete bridge (abandoned).

I think it's an i-device issue. Whenever my S.O. emails me a photo from his iPhone, it's upside-down as well.

Ha, just took a pic of the '99 Nissan Quest and my newest ride in portrait mode on my wife's iPad 3 and this one is sideways. It's correct on the iPad.

1974 Ford Pinto Wagon. So, while we were in Oregon visiting (as part of our TC trip in Sept '13), I stopped in to see this old girl. Previously owned by my mother, she gave it to my brother and me in 1998. I worked on it for a week to bring it back to life, but cautioned my brother about any long trips with it until we had put 500-1000 miles on it just in case there was internal engine damage from it sitting for so long. He didn't listen, the car threw a rod about 250 miles from home, and I (silly me) drove halfway across the state to tow it home.

I parked it where it sits (unheated storage), and that's the last I touched it so far because of my distant location. But, its future engine sits next to it. :)

brian - first car is a 66 Ford Galaxie. Mine had a 390, which probably gave 10% more performance than a 289 while using 80% more fuel.

xwesx - yeah, my tastes are pretty consistent. Latest car is a lease, and I tell myself I will look around at lease end - but one can probably guess what I'll wind up with :)

Are you going to restore the Pinto? Part of me kind of likes the look of Pinto wagons. They might be a little more appreciated in the future. A labor of love, but not the worst car ever made. Was that one bought new by your mother?

Loving all these great photos! I need to post a few of my own rides, but finding those photos will take some effort. :'(

Kirstie...the RX8 pic was scanned into my Mac. The others were taken with an iPhone. Not sure if that matters, though. Probably some obscure glitch.

hmm... let's see how many are still showing on the flickr account...

Can see the Leaf, Stang, and minivan behind the Benz.

Here is the Volvo, the only current ride missing from the pic above.

The brief time I was brave enough to own 2 BMWs at the same time.

Some autocross pics with the two '80s sportscars I attempted to make go fast.

    And my best autocross car

    '14 Jetta TDI wagon; '98 Volvo S70 base; '14 Town&Country Limited; '09 LR2 HSE. 41-car history and counting!

LOL, Steve! We made a very conscious effort to not put anything on top this time. The tray results in no fuel economy penalty, but a box on top murders mileage. I think our final economy on that trip was around 28mpg... ? I know from experience that it would have been about 22-23 with something on top. That's a huge cost spread over 12.5K miles.

"Restore" is a little strong, most likely. I'm planning to put a 302 V8 in it and heavily mod the rest of the drivetrain, so I'll probably do a light "resto-mod" on it, keeping most of the interior intact (unless vermin have gone through it in the sixteen years it has sat in that quonset hut). I'll definitely remove the "woody" look to it and repaint. Honestly, though, I haven't looked closely at it in over a decade (it was nearly pitch black in there when I took that photo, so I didn't really even get to look at it in person). It may be that this "rust-free" car is not so rust free any longer. I hope not, because it is relatively dry in there (and a dry climate in northeastern Oregon), but who knows?

And, no, my mother bought it in 1988. All-in-all, it was one of the more practical vehicles she ever bought (as a mother with three children). But, even though it is a wagon, it is still a two-door. I can't think of a single car she ever owned while I was growing up that had more than two doors. It was a manual tranny when she bought it, but she had it swapped out to an automatic because her roommate hated manuals. I plan to swap it back. Overall, I want this car to be a true sleeper that I can enjoy taking on Sunday drives.

I know how you feel! I have four other vehicles (all that I currently own) of which I have not yet posted a photo because I have nothing relatively current. I'm sure I could hit the archives....

Westen and Zoomie - daughter's 2010 MINI Cooper and the wife's 2010 Mazda CX-7. The MINI was recently traded in for another MINI - this time a Countryman S ALL4, named "Beckham".

I need to get a photo of Beckham with a camera, not my phone.

Behind it is my dad's '70 Chevy C-10, which he's owned since new.
