Please let me know your thoughts on this. Got the following quote on a C300 4MATIC in So.Cal

    MSRP - 46,490.00
    Selling - 39,289.00

    Sales Tax (est) - 3,151.84
    Weight fee - 24.00
    Registration (est) - 326.00
    Flat add/County fee - 10.00
    Electronic filing fee - 29.00
    Smog abatement fee - 20.00
    Doc fee - 80.00

    Balance due (est) - 42,929.84

    36 Month lease / 15K miles
    MF - 0.00156
    RV - 60%
    Payment - 490/Mo including tax
    Drive off - 1000.00

I'm a little confused on the taxes. I thought the taxes are supposed to be only on the portion of the car being used on leases, instead of on the entire purchase price of the car. Sales tax rate is 8% here.

I'm having trouble coming up with the same payment when I calculate this.

    Thanks in advance.

I agree .. the 8% should be applied to the pre-tax lease payment only, not the entire selling price. I've been seeing this more and more in CA - no idea why.

That said, the base MF on the 2015 C300 4Matic is only .00136 this month, so your dealer is marking that up on you for extra profit. I agree with the 60% residual for 36/15.

If I back out the sales tax from the balance due, I get a pre-tax payment of $422.15; $455.92 after tax.

Below is an email I just got from the dealer when I asked for more details regards to how taxes are paid. Also, they mentioned in the email that the "Balance due" is just showing the cash balance due if I was to purchase the car.

Still can't calculate their payment. Is the disposition fee of $595 paid at the start of the lease or at the end? I'm trying to find all the hidden fees...

The disposition fee is paid at the end of the lease if you do not buy/lease another MB. There should be a bank or acquisition fee somewhere in there ... $795 for MB.

Ask them for the "net" cap cost and get them to explain how they arrived at that number.

Hey Everyone. Just leased a brand new 2015 c300 4matic In northern virginia (washington dc metro area).

This is my deal so you guys can have a frame of reference

    MSRP $49820
    Selling Price $41186
    Acquisitions Fee $1095
Taxes: 4.05% of the selling price
    Registration (transfer tags) $92.50
    Processing fee $299
    Residual 62% for 36 months 12k miles a year
    Money Factor .00126 (AutoPay)
    Monthly payment $458.87
Total out of pocket at signing $960.00 (includes first month)

I always used the accelerator lease loyalty. They waived the last 3 monthly payments on my 2012 C-class lease.

My selling price included AMA fleet discount of $3500.00 but if your not qualified for that discount then your eligible for the regular incentive and I believe its only $1000 difference some where around $2500.00

Basically you can find a dealer to give you $7000 to $7500 off without qualifying for the AMA fleet discount.

Looking at a 2015 C300 RWD Sport with Premium and Multimedia in Northern CA.

Anyone use a USAA incentive for a lease? It's a $3000 incentive, but I need to figure out if it's for buying only. I do have access to our work Fleet Employee Program, but that's $500.

Also, anyone know the MF and residual on a lease for 36/10 and 36/12?
And is the MF discount for auto-pay for all states/leases?

    Thanks.

.00136 MF and 63%/62% residual. Auto-pay discounts should be good, everywhere, I think.

Program for AWD model is identical.

Hey Rone803- Did you tell them about the incentive after you negotiated the lease? And then they deducted that amount from the cap cost?

    thanks.

Can somebody please double check my numbers for lease payments on a C400
    Msrp 52,205
    36mo/12K
    Philadelphia
Totall out of pocket 5,000 dollars
I am getting around $600/mo in my calculation with standard MF of 0.0020 and 61% rv (per Michaell). No incentives or discounts. Is this correct? I am also assuming 6% tax in PA for leasing (I am not sure of this since I heard it could be as high as 9%? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi All,

I am going to order a new C300 4Matic in PA to replace my 2013 C300 that is coming to term later in the year. Here is the deal 36 mo/12K miles per year
    MSRP $51,445
    Selling Price $43,213
    Acq. Fee $795
    Maintenance $975
    MF w/ auto pay .00128

$503.51/mo with $653.51 due at signing (first month + tag transfer fee)

Do you think I should try to negotiate more off of selling price?

That's about the only way you will see a lower payment - you're already getting more than $8K off. My numbers work out exactly the same as yours to the penny when I add in the Acquisition Fee and the Maintenance to the selling price.

Yes, tax on leases in PA is 9%.
I dont have the selling price since at the time of sending the post I had not talked to a dealer. So I was jus trying to get an idea of the payments knowing that they will probably get better with the incentives and negociation of the final selling price. I now realize we need more info regarding on how the money down will be applied to lowering the payments...

So, I went to the dealer today and they had a hard time finding a C400 with the options I want. They did gave me the MF at 0.0028 (they claim that is the standard) so that makes de c400 a bad car to lease. Also de rv was 58% instead of the 61%. They did gave me about 5K discount.

On the other hand they offered me to lease a 2014 E350 that was a loaner with 7,000 miles. MSRP (back in 2014 of course) $61,000
    Selling price of $43,000
    MF 0,00195
    Rv 58%
    $4000 down
With payments of $443 (including 9% tax)

How good is thois deal? The car was loaded with every option and there are no changes between 2014 and 15 Models. But it feels weird to lease a used vehicle. Thoughts?

Hello All. I am interested in leasing a 2015 C300 4 door sedan with AWD and the standard engine. I live in NJ and plan to lease it for 36 months with 12K miles per year. What is the money factor and residual value for this car and what kind of discount will be available off MSRP ( The car I was looking for had a MSRP of around $45000)? I am having a tough time with dealers here in NJ as nobody is willing to knock of more than $6000 off the MSRP of $45000 and I see buyers getting around $7500-$8000 off in other states for cars with $45000 MSRP.

Please send me the name of a NJ dealer along with the sales persons name who can offer the best offer based on your experiences. Also would appreciate best lease details. If I happen to go by the purchase route, will the price paid for the car be any different.

    Thanks in advance.

It wouldn't bother me to lease a loaner, assuming it will be under warranty for the entire term of the lease. One issue is you might be more likely to need tires, with the extra mileage.
We don't have anyway of knowing their costs on the loaner, or the lease program. But, I would bargain hard.. I've leased two BMW service loaners in the past... with no issues.

PA has an extra 3% tax on leases.. so, if your rate is 6%, the tax on the lease will be 9%.

    Thanks in advance.

    .00136 and 62% for 36/12.

    1) What about the money factor and residual value if it was as 36/15 lease schedule.

    2) Also, I would appreciate the name of the dealer in NJ where I can get the best negotiated rates. I am having a hard time finding one.

    3) If I happen to go by the purchase route, will the price paid for the car be different?

Same MF; subtract 2% for 15K miles

I live in Colorado; I don't know which dealers in NJ would be best for you to work with

Price paid should be the same regardless of purchase or lease.

Mercedes makes good cars and has a generally positive corporate reputation. However in buying or leasing a Mercedes beware Mercedes Benz Financial Services (MBF). I will spare you my tale of woe with this dubious organization. What I will do is to urge you to practice caution.

First, closely read the lease or finance agreement. You will find that MBF grants themselves extraordinary powers of collection and repossession. The presumption is they are always in the right and you always in the wrong. The agreements also require you to waive your basic consumer and legal rights. You might ask what sort of organization would wish to treat their customers in this manner. Therefore, do the research.

Research other customer’s experiences. The primary review site for credit granters is Credit Karma (https://www.creditkarma.com/reviews/auto-loan/single/id/mercedes-benz-financial). A full 80% of reviewers give MBF the lowest possible rating. The titles of the first two pages of reviews tell all:

    1. Worst financial service company,

    2. Horrible Customer Service,

    3. No problems with Mercedes-Benz Financial,

    4. Terrible service,

    5. Avoid at all costs,

    6. MB Financial is arrogant,

    7. Arrogant and rude service,

    8. WORST SERVICE EVER RECEIVED,

    9. Just Greedy,

    10. Fed up,

    11. Unethical organization,

    12. Unethical,

    13. No more.

There is always a chance that you will be the one in thirteen that is not abused, but your odds are not good.

If you still are not convinced read a recent Wisconsin Supreme Court decision against MBF (http://www.wicourts.gov/sc/opinion/DisplayDocument.pdf?content=pdf&seqNo=67711) You will quickly understand why MBF so wants you waive your rights to sue and why you really need those rights.

Know your alternatives. There are other, reputable, finance options. There are also the BMW and Audi dealerships just down the street.

While I'm not a lawyer nor have I read any of the contracts mentioned, I would be surprised if the BMW or Audi lease contracts were materially different than the one from MB when it comes to issues like arbitration.

Lots of folks have come to these boards to ask questions about leasing a Mercedes Benz; not once have I heard a complaint like this leveled against MBFS.

    Caveat Emptor!

Using the numbers provided (which I confirm, BTW), I get a payment matching the dealer quote, to the penny.

Only way to get a better deal is to negotiate a better selling price or use autopay to reduce the MF to .00126.

I have a quote from a local MB dealership and would like to ask your opinion.

    C400 4Matic 7500 mile/year, 36 month deal
    MSRP $59,295 including destination
Base Cap Cost $53,295 ($6,000 discount)
    Acquisition and additional fee $1,295
Cap Cost Reduction $2,500 Equity on the previous lease and $3,000 cash down, Total $5,500!
    Adjusted Cap Cost $49090.0
    Residual Value (58%) $34,391
    Money Factor 0.00245
TAX (8.25% applies to Depreciation+Finance Charge+Down cash Payment)

    Monty payment including tax $680+

I put $680+ as the dealer's figure does not match up to the number I calculated using any lease calculators out there (or my math). They were initially asking for $800+/mo. Needless to say, I said good bye to them but is this what we expect for C400? Thank you very much for your input.

The C400 uses the standard MB money factor (around .00200) - your dealer is marking that up on you for a bit of extra profit.

58% is the 36/15 residual; add 4% for 7500 miles per year.

We do not recommend using trade equity or cash to reduce the cap cost. As the C400 is using the standard MF, consider using that money for MSDs to buy down the MF. You will get that money back at the end of the lease.

I think you were right to walk. C400's will be expensive to lease due to the high MF, but the dealer was adding costs every chance they got.

Look at it from the dealer's perspective ... they probably won't get too many C400's, so they'll want to maximize the profit on every one they get. C300's are the bread and butter sedan - better MF and deals to be made on those.

I was just quoted a MF of .00201 and residual of 63% on a C300 with MSRP of $47165, sales price of $42,665. With taxes ($1,834.30) and fees ($575.75) the total sales price is $45,075.05. The price sheet lists the monthly payment at $610-$630 for a 36 month / 10,000 lease. I ran the numbers through the lease calculator and don't get the same numbers... question:

do you use the residual rate on the net sales price after taxes/fees or before?
Why is there a range for the monthly payment of $610-$630?
The money factor looks higher than what I've seen on this forum, is the dealer marking this up?

I'm surprised the monthly payment is so high with a discount of $4500 off of MSRP I thought I see something in the low 500s.
Would appreciate your insight into this.
    Thanks!

The residual is calculated against the MSRP, not the selling price.

MF is absolutely marked up on you

Not sure why the dealer gave you a range; it may be dependent on what you pay up front and what you decide to roll into the lease.

Thanks. Is there a standard MF from MB that I should look for? I've seen quotes in this forum between .00126 and .00135. The 126 number was from someone who looks like they received an extra break for "autopay", is that common with MB? I leased with a few other brands and never received a discount for autopay. The range on the payment is wierd, they are quoting $610-$630 if I put $611 down, and $552-$572 if I put $2,500 down. Is it because they haven't run my credit score yet, and change the rate based on my credit score? Thanks for your advice.

For the RWD C300, the base money factor is .00136. Base is not the same as standard. The standard money factor is the one Mercedes uses on models that don't have a discounted money factor.

Autopay does indeed drop the money factor by .00010. I've only seen that with MB Finance.

I'm sure the range is due to credit score.... but, either way.. that's a big payment for a C300

Hello, was quoted the following on a 2015 C300W Sport RWD:
    MSRP: $51205
    Cap Cost: $44,975
    Money Factor: .00136
Residual Value: $27789.50 (sorry don't have the percentage)
No money down, only out of pocket fees like motor vehicle fees, etc.
    36 month lease, with 10k miles/yr

Is the money factor and residual value correct? What kind of monthly payment can I expect? Apologies for not having the residual value as a percentage, my mom is actually feeding me these numbers as this car is for her. The salesman gave her the dollar figure instead of the percentage.

    Thanks!

The residual for 36mo, 10K/yr is 63%, which would be $32,259. You sure about that MSRP?

Sorry, the MSRP is actually $50,280. The MSRP in my original post included a destination and delivery fee of $925. This is from a dealer in VA. Tax would be for NC, that's where my mom lives. Looks like he is definitely falling short on the residual huh?

    The money factor is correct...

Using my residual, I get a payment of $566/mo.
Sorry, the MSRP is actually $50,280. The MSRP in my original post included a destination and delivery fee of $925. This is from a dealer in VA. Tax would be for NC, that's where my mom lives. Looks like he is definitely falling short on the residual huh?
The residual is set by the bank and cannot be altered by the dealer. Make sure they are quoting the residual for 36/10.
