2013 and earlier BMW X5 Prices Paid and Buying Experience

  • sounds like a great price, what part of the country are you at?
  • Ordered mine in NJ
  • Wish I was in your part of the country, guess on the left coast, more env. conscious people...drives the price higher or so the dealers say.
  • Has anyone been shopping for this recently? I'm looking at one with an M sport package and I dont know what kind of discounts to expect.
    Ay feedback would be appreciated.

  • Got 'car fever' in trading out of old car and fell in love for X5 35d, so my negotiating skills evaporated. It is a fully loaded X5 35d, but I paid $7,500 down (incl negative trade in on old lease + all fees, taxes, etc) and then pay $915 a month. I'm 6 months in and my payoff is $57,000. Seems a lot of money, but if I see the lease out I'll pay $32,940 in monthly payments + $7500 fees and won't even own the car. Any advice on next steps? Should I bite th bullet and just buy the thing or suck up another 30 months of $915 and then gicve the car back?

Needless to say, won't be rush purchasing my next car. However I LOVE this car, the X5 35d drives and looks amazing - so not all bad :)

a very unfortunate situation. However if you do have leasors remorse, there are 2 sites: &

Maybe you can get someone else to takeover your lease.

    Good Luck!

    a) You can't really count the negative equity from your old car as part of the lease cost of this one... One really has nothing to do with the other..

    b) If you bought the car for $6X,XXX, and financed it for 60 months, you'd have to pay $43K (or so) over the first three years... Yes, you would own the vehicle, but would still owe $25K-$30K on the vehicle, and have two more years of $1200+ payments..

Strip out the negative equity and your payment is probably right around $1000/mo... Yes, that's not cheap... but, anything you do now won't save you any money.

The way to stay out of a negative equity situation is to stay in the car you have, until the lease or loan is paid off.. You can't trade your way to a better situation...

  • thanks for the advice guys. Only other option I can think of is to buy it cash, but my payoff is $57K after already paying $13K into it (old debt + on road plus 6 mths payments). Worth taking the hit now or paying another 30 months of $915?
  • Made my purchase last week, had to special order since there is low stock in nor cal and the way I wanted it, or even close to it, made it practically impossible to find. Anyway, got it for a okay price, at least i think, msrp was 61375 and got it for 530xx.
  • Hello,

Does anyone know if its possible to get a "base" X5 Diesel? I want to buy the car but I find they all come with the packages. For example, can you buy this car for 45K?

    Thank you,

  • You might try going to the website and configuring the vehicle in its base form. Have a dealer check his and other dealer allocations or order the vehicle you configure. Good luck.
  • Thank you for your reply. I believe its good info as I would like to see if its possible to get it this way.

  • I think with the existing eco credit and if you order it with no options, just the base model, you could get close to 45k with some negotiations. I think the base with no options is about 51, 52k.

    1. how do they calculate your secuirty deposit? based on your payment??

    2. i have a paid off trade in which is a it smart to trade in acadia and use it to reduce capitilized cost?

    3. see attachment if they give me close to kbb lease payment would be around $110 with trade in..

    4. if i put down 7 extra security deposits..would lower my payment to $ would my 7 security deposits be 110 x 7 = $770 extra

    1) Yes, based on your payment, rounded up to the next $50 increment..

    2) No, not smart..

    3) No attachments here... But, I'd just take a check for my trade, and put minimal amount upfront.

    4) MSDs are a good idea.... If your payment were actually $110, then the 7 deposits would add up to $1050 (7 X $150). I'd rather keep my money in the bank, and have a higher payment, though...

  • premium pkg, cold weather pkg, rear climate pkg, tech pkg, comfort access, iPod adapter, satellite radio, roof rail.

MSRP $62,525, final out of door price = ($53,740 + $95 doc/title + tax). Also got 0.9% finance for 36mth through BMW. Car needs to be ordered. Put down $1,000 non-refundable deposit and should have the car in 6-8 weeks.

I quoted 10 dealers within 200 miles and this deal is the best. It is basically (invoice - $3500 eco credit). And the dealer is very easy to work with.

Note that starting Oct 1, 2010, BMW has increased X5 MSRP by $500, which is NOT reflected by edmunds yet.

Hope this helps folks in the market.

My deal was almost done when Eco-credit was $4500 .

My Dealer tried to add Doc fees of $499 after I agreed to pay $600 over invoice which included maco fees. I did not agree to bogus doc fee & left. ( wasted 2 hrs )

I hate to lose the whole deal but this was unacceptable bogus fee.

Now I lost $1000 in eco-credit but still this bogus fees by the dealer is crazy.

Many members here dont post the whole deal. :surprise:

Please post details with maco fees + any doc fees paid. This will help many who are looking to but this UDM.

    Will try another dealer.

  • Looking to start discussions with dealer and would like to hear information as to what to expect on a well equiped (I am a gadget guy) X5 5.0. thanks for your feedback.

So why is not smart to put money down from our trade in on a lease?

Here is my scenario...2008 Acadia paid in value of 28000.
Put Down 20000..making my lease payment $110 with the multiple security deposits..

Why is this a bad scenario? Thanks for your input
  • what credit score is needed to get 0.9%. thanks a lot
