Towing advice older Camry

I plan to purchase a Camry 2000-2005, 4-cylinder, 2.2L.

I want to buy a small camping trailer, weight about 1,500 pounds. It will be one of the recent teardrop models, one of the smaller not larger models. Here are a couple of trailer links to give you an idea:

1. Foolish? Should I even attempt to tow a trailer like this with a 4-cyl Camry of that era?

2. Transmission: If it seems feasible, should I get a manual transmission? Is manual less likely to be damaged than auto?

3. Personal experiences: Anyone had any experience like this?

4. Torque: I saw this mentioned elsewhere as a concern when towing. Torque for this engine is rated 150 ft-lb @ 4400 RPM (2000 model).
