A rite of passage for my son was teaching him to drive. "His car" is a '12 Ford Focus hatchback, the kind of gutless econobox one gives a kid to try to keep them out of trouble. Toward the end of his instruction, I took him out in my Ram 1500 HEMI. We went to an isolated gravel lot. He got in the driver seat. I told him to put the truck in 1st gear and "get it out of his system." We did donuts and laughed until we both had tears running down our cheeks. Then, we went home and told my wife we had gone to Dairy Queen. Can't wait to do it all over again with my daughter in a few months.

Great article, and great story adamb1. I have a '68 Camaro from the late 70's with dual Holley's on a tunnel ram, wild metal flake paint, and fat tires that I take my 5 yo old out in whenever I can, and my 15 yo step son keeps asking if he can take it to the prom (negative - he's not quite mature enough). The 5 yo loved it when I dropped him off at school in it, and the 15 yo always works with me to prep it for local shows and goes with me to every one we go to, so I'm prepping my portions of future generations to be into old cars. I applaud your efforts to do the same. Man, I would love to have a theater like that around me.
