Might be that the car's computer is waiting for the car to complete a "drive mode"; if it can't complete a certain drive mode, say for the EGR or the CAT, then it won't allow you to pass the test.

What did the tech say? Did he/she suggest you drive the car in a certain way for a certain # of miles? They should have given you more information.

Just turning off a CEL with a scanner won't "fix" the problem. You still won't pass until the car's computer thinks you've gone through the drive mode (which would require for you to fix the CEL problem in the first place, or perhaps the car would "fix itself" after completing a drive mode).

Thank you, the tech's have no idea why the test stops half way, since the test can not be completed we don't know the result of it.

Well you might need to go to someone more skillful in that case.

Is the system stopping because the car is not ready for testing? There is a manual way to check the status of the readiness monitors built into the emissions machine and it can also be done with a scan tool capable of accessing the readiness monitors. If so, which monitors are not complete? BTW, clearing codes also clears all of the monitors.

    For VW/Audi a great aftermarket tool s the Ross-Tech VCDS. http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/
They also have tons of information in their Ross-Tech wiki site which would outline how you use their tool to access and even set the readiness monitors for emissions testing.
