    Parked in the garage at left, something very non-foreign, appears to be a full sized 65 Ford.

    I love this photo, it's a good example of what :"imported car" dealerships were like on my native Long Island. I'll call the Datsun pickup which wasn't common on LI. You guys do the rest.

    import looks like 3 MGs. B in the showroom and right out front, and a Midget by the pumps where the PU is.

    next to the B inside, might be a weird reflection but lights make me think of an early 60s C1 vette.

    Jag Saloon (Mark IIV?) in the road.

    The Jag saloon is a Mk.II, the VII was a larger less sporty car. The car you ID as a Midget could be a Mk.II Healey Sprite, they were identical from the side.

    The same building is still in Oyster Bay serviung as offices! TOM says the octagonal shape came from the MG logo so that company had sold Imports from the 1920s. I'd guess the photo dates from the mid-60s

    This is a photo from the early sixties taken in eastern London suburb of Barking.

    Estate car on left is a model I don't recall ever having seen in Britain, and it actually has a temporary Registration Plate - the code QG was allocated from 1956/7 through to about 1965 - for a maximum period of twelve months. It's also LHD

  • explorerx4explorerx4 Member Posts: 19,308
    I'm getting a Triumph Herald vibe from the car in the middle.

    Wagon reminds me of an early Nissan Cedric, but details don't line up and LHD would be odd. Does the sign on the car say "Caution: Left Hand Drive"? I will guess it is French, a Simca of some sort.

    I will guess the BMC Farina at right is a Morris Oxford.

    @fintail

    Yes that is a Simca Marly estate - here is a similar one from the front
    And that BMC Farina is a Morris Oxford Mk V

    @explorerx4

    The middle car is indeed Herald - its actually a Herald S which was initially a stripped version with the 950 engine and more basic trim - they only made about 700 of that model and they were frequently used for driving schools etc I think

    Looks like a 66 to me. What great looking car. I’d prefer thinner whitewalls and different wheels, but the color is perfect.

    Yup, it's a '66 Buick Riviera GS. I agree , I'd like it better w/o the phony wires and skinnier sidewalls. I prefer the '66-'68 front end over the '63-'65.

    Mid 80s maxima. I like that style. I think that’s the last of the RWD straight 6 models. Though the first series FWD V6 looked similar.

    85-88, I believe these were FWD.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 50,517
    Yeah. I looked at it again and it’s got the chunkier hood. Gen 1 went through 1984, gen 2 FWD started in 1985. The earlier ones where still very boxy.

    Same. My uncle had an 88, IIRC, and it was, to that point in my life, a whole new level of nice! And, it could really scoot, too.

    Those early cars were initially badged "Datsun 810 By Nissan" and marketed as the "810 Maxima" during that funny Datsun/Nissan co-branding era.

    I went to Columbia a few times with my daughter when she was college shopping. I liked it. Though I am fine with hot and humid.

    round light Falcon in front of the red Buick. And I think 2 65 Fords in the right lane.

    left side, 2 back from a green F100, looks like a white Matador.

    That Buick reminds me of the cars used on a number of Perry Mason episodes. Officer Tragg often drove a sedan, others drove convertibles.

    Maybe there's something in front of that 6-cylinder Mustang?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,390
    The Buick is definitely a '60. The tips oif the fins are rounded.

    Mustang coupe is a '65 based on the wheel covers. Low end 6 cyl version.

    based on the grill looks like a Monza wagon in the middle all by itself. And a VW 412 (could be a 411) on the curb. Most awful car I ever spent time driving. My grandmother had one. Took my drivers test on it.

    Nose is obscured but I think the small car in front of the VW is a Mazda (RX3 or boing boing equivalent).

    Volvo later 145 wagon up past the ambulance.
