Surprisingly, given Wales in 1960 wouldn't be the most up to date place there is only one possible pre-war car I can see in this shot - the next few years would see most old cars swept away as we adopted the "ten-year" test which evolved into the MOT (for cars over 3 years old) by about 1963/4.
The pre-war candidate is downhill from your Minx - which I think might be a Singer Gazelle as the two-tone paint is not typical for a Minx - and as it isn't strictly in period for this forum I am going to guess it is a circa 1937 Standard - it helps that I have blown the picture up on this monitor but it then gets fuzzy so its not much help. Actually because many British cars were reintroduced post-war for a while as a stopgap the car on the extreme right might be pre-war as well, but I'll leave identification for you guys - for the moment.
The way the black car ascending and the grey one is coming down it looks like Wales drove on your side of the road - but I think the latter is probably reversing into the kerb by what appears to be a parked wardrobe!
I'll try and find one of these pictures which is a little less busy, or at least with a few more cars in the foreground.

I've seen photos of British scrapyards from the 60s with a lot of prewar material - I guess that explains it. Could the reversing car near the wardrobe be a ~1955 Vauxhall, maybe a Cresta or Wyvern?

Funny , the two tone is what made me think "Minx", due to familiarity with an old Matchbox car:

Could the car at far right also be a Standard?

Great model - I love old Matchbox cars. I can see where you are coming from with the Minx - to me it looks like the car has a lighter flash along the side and ending below the rear lights. That was a feature of the series II Gazelle, but the minx was slightly different. The colour scheme on the Matchbox Minx - and the grille - are for their Mark I model. Having said that it is rather indistinct, and I am not at all sure. They both shared the same body (the two door pillarless version was of course the equivalent Sunbeam Rapier) - I think this body shell was known to the Rootes Group as "Audax" - the later Minx / Hunter shell in the sixties was "Arrow" and even got sold over in NA under that name.
The car reversing into the space is a Vauxhall - it's the third version of the E series vauxhall which was facelifted in 1956 - this one could be a Velox a Cresta, or a Wyvern. I think the Cresta was usually two tone with a contrasting roof so more likely a Wyvern / Velox, possibly.
The black car ascending the hill is a Standard - probably a Ten, but it might be a late Eight. There is another one parked on the right - directly above the parking Vauxhall, its light grey and facing us.
When you see pictures of the cars that were thrown away in the sixties because nobody wanted them it is such a shame - but on the other hand if we had kept them all then we wouldn't have anywhere to park - it's bad enough now....

New Mitsubishi Mirage .. will come to the US. Great MPG, but no engine spec released.

    3-cyl? 4-cyl? Dunno yet.

Yup, you're a little off on the year, it's a Euro-spec '87 Ford Escort XR3i convertible, a model never officially sold in the US.

That's the real mystery - will it or won't it? Last reports indicate it'll be a three-cylinder.

Mitsu has a LOT of work to do if it wants to be a real player again in the US.

Most of it's dealerships were/are in trailers next to Chrysler dealers, (as if going to a Chrysler dealer wasn't bad enough). It is going to take a lot more than a 3 cyl Mirage to attract buyers in real numbers.

I remember when the Galant competed with mid-size sedans and did so very well. I also remember the turbo Starion, 3000 GT, and the rally-inspired, 350 hp EVO Lancer, Subaru's WRX nemesis.

I think Mitsubishi could turn things around...but will they take a leap back into the US market, or continue to be an also ran?

    G'day

Not as pretty as her sister, the Australian produced Valiant AP5 Safari Wagon. I guess about 1963 and maybe Dodge.

    That front really is ugly

    Cheers

That's a 1963 Dodge Dart wagon. Looks like they still used some leftover Valiant/Lancer bodies and added a Dart front end clip.

Extra points if you can name the movie and the (in)famous star of the movie.

Yep, you're both right, it's a '63 Dodge Dart 270 but it looks like a '62 Lancer/Valiant wagon that rammed at Dart sedan from the rear. that

I was going to say Buford T. Justice and Junior driving a 1977 Pontiac Grand LeMans in Smokey and the Bandit (1977) but the light bar on the roof is not the correct.

This is driving me crazy. I must've search the internet from top to bottom for this car without success. The guy drove through twice in front of my office building. Great engine sound but unfortunately I can't seem to remember the make and model of the car. I am fairly certain I saw it in some magazine or in some auto show. Here a couple pics I managed to take with my iphone.

    G'day

Is it the movie about the short cop? Seems about the right period.

    Cheers
