Hi sidv22. BMW Financial Services' current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2008 528i with 15,000 miles per year are .00220 and 55%, respectively. I am not personally familiar with what the market is like for this car right now, but you should be able to get an idea of how much you will have to pay for one by stopping by the "BMW 5-Series Prices Paid and Buying Experience" discussion.

Hi sk1182. It wouldn't hurt to place a call directly to BMW Financial Services to see if they would be willing to negotiate your car's end of term purchase price. If you do not have any luck with your initial contact, try working your way up the ladder to a manager. More often than not, banks are unwilling to negotiate leased vehicles' purchase prices...but you don't have anything to lose by trying.

If your mother doesn't put many miles on her cars, you may find that paying three grand for an extended warranty is not worth it.

You can find out approximately what your vehicle is worth by looking up its Edmunds.com True Market Value in the Used Vehicle Pricing section of this site or by visiting the the following discussion: "Real-World Trade-In Values".

  • To any one with good info.

I am looking to lease either a 528i or 535i here in Southern California. I am looking to get Premium, sport, and Nav on it. I have seen different MF and residuals posted at different times. Do they change with the month? if so, does anyone know what are they for June? My current "good guy" ( I know a friend of a friend) offer is; MSRP 52,075 my price 48,295 residual 34,890 24mon 15kmiles/yr tax at 7.75% total payment. $848.30

    Thanks!

    Sailingmoe,

    The rates and residuals are:

    535i
    24 Month – Residual 66% of MSRP – .00200 Base Rate
    36 Month – Residual 55% of MSRP – .00200 Base Rate
    528i
    24 Month – Residual 67% of MSRP – .00220 Base Rate
    36 Month – Residual 55% of MSRP – .00220 Base Rate

Dealers may mark up these rates by as much as .0004. If you are aware that the dealer is doing this, you can negotiate it down. Also with the acquisition fee, they may increase that from $625 to $825. If this is your first BMW lease and not paying the security deposit, there is an additional increase to the money factor. This can be avoided by paying the security deposit. You can also lower the MF by .00007 for each additional security deposit up to 7 deposits.

Additionally, for the 5 series there is an option credit for the premium package available through the end of June. Your numbers are for a 528i?
  • Yes they are for the 528i. It looks like we can do better.
  • We would like to continue with the same make and model BMW if my company can support decision. If the economics support are justified, with the “Extended Warranty”, we would consider continuing with the same 2006 car.

This is the information that I have to date on the existing car.

    - They are holding a security deposit of $749.00 which gets credited back to us less “Excess wear & Tear” and excess miles. The car has been inspected and the “Excess wear & Tear” cost/charge is $100.00 when turned in. The car has 36,303 miles on it which exceeds the 36,000 total allowance. Additional miles at $.20/mile.

    - Lease is up 8/6/08

    - Buyout on contract states $34,763.40 + sales tax total = $37,805.20

    - Cost of extended warranty for 6 years or 100,000 miles is $3,670.31. Current warranty goes to 50,000 miles.

    - Total buyout with warranty $41,475.51.

    - Mfg rebate program thru July 3rd on this model is $6,900. With this total buy out, including extended warranty fee & sales tax is $33,822.15.

    - They will finance this amount no money down at 5.9%; 60 month term is $653.46/month, 48 months $794.17 and 36 months is $1,029.23.

    - To release same car for 36 months and 12,000 miles/year is $931.57/month.

What is the anticipated value in 6 years of the 2006 car?

We need to investigate lease cost of new car next.

Can anyone provide the facts and figures on 2009 BMW 535 XI

I am in Southern California (Pasadena) and just leased a 528i and was able to get a deal for basically $1,100 below invoice. Here are the specifics:

    Base MSRP: 44,300
    Premium: 2, 300
    Xenon: 800
    iPod: 400
    Navigation: 1,900
    Destination: 775

    MSRP: 50,475

    Invoice MSRP: 41,030
    Premium: 2,095
    Xexon: 730
    iPod: 365
    Navigation: 1,730
    Destination: 775

    MSRP 46,725

I was able to get my 528i for $45,631, which is about $1,100 below the invoice cost. Essentially, I told them that I would split the premium package credit with them, which is $2,095, and that I would pay invoice for everything else. I had two different dealerships in the LA area meet that deal. I did a two year lease at 10,000 miles per year.

Let me know if you have any questions.
  • After looking around and reading this post we just leased a 528i from BMW of palm springs. good or bad here is what I paid. I think it's good and they were very nice.

    528i 44,300
    premium 2,300
    Comfort access 1,000
    park distance 700
    Xenon headlights 800
    Ipod 400
    Nav system 1900
    Logic 7 sound 1200
    Destination 775
    Total MSRP 53375
    Dealer chrome wheels 2000
    Total Dealer sticker $55,375

    Purchase price $48,850
Car $48,375 $5,000 off of MSRP (said he would take 5k any of the ones with lots of options.)
Wheels $475 dealer said "cost of 950, split with me so they did not have to take them off" who knows.

    15,000 miles year lease
    24 months
    $2,296 dive off
    $784.10 with tax.

Hope this helps for the next leaser.

I noticed the residuals are much worse now than they were in Dec. I got a 528i at 73% residual vs. 67% now.

However, comparing the competition you have to be careful. Lexus looks great because the lease RATE is very very low (interest) but the residuals are horrible. BMW has had higher residuals but much higher interest rates.

Please see below the quote we received in NEW JERSEY :

24 months for 528xi 10K miles , cold weather, premium , navigation , ipod adaptor , monaco blue with beige dakota leather and dark wood trim.

    1. Sale price : 48178
    2. Residual : 69%
    3. Inceptions : 1st payment + bank fee + motor vehicle = 7149.
    4. Taxes : 1345 approx

    Monthly payment = $ 685.00
    Experts:
PLEASE LET US KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS. Is this a better deal ?
  • x021627x021627 Posts: 148
I think you made a typo and the inceptions are $1749. doesn't look like a bad deal considering residuals went down alot since Feb. when I bought a similarly equipped 528xi (except I got the xenons as well) and my lease is for 12K/36 months. I am paying slighly less, but I got the $2500 dealer cash. My sale price BEFORE the trunk cash was $50300 so......

    Good luck! :)
  • bmwguy5bmwguy5 Posts: 4
To get the lower money factor, we did MSDs..so the inceptions include that..hence the higher amt :)
We were hoping to push the dealer a little more for a better monthly payment, seeing that business seems to be slow...any ideas on where to squeeze a little more out of them...I dont think BMW is offering any incentives now
  • smithsongasmithsonga Posts: 123
The deal looks reasonable given the same comments on residuals. I got a 528i in Dec, $52k list.(paid around $48500 including $1000 rebate) .$1800 out the door, $600/month (including 7% sales tax).
  • bmwguy5bmwguy5 Posts: 4
Thanks for all the info, everyone...we're definitely trying to squeeze every dollar that we can from the dealer..any more tips would be great :)

Does anyone have the residuals and money factor for May/June for 528xi?
This would be helpful to doublecheck that we are getting a decent deal

money factor .00171 ( we were told that this is for MSDs)
    Residual = 69% ( 10K 24 mths)

Also is it true if I go over the allotted miles, I can call BMWFS and get a courtesy price of $.16 per mile..the dealer said that it's a 1 time and we have to do it before 5 mths of the lease running out..otherwise its $.20 a mile

    Your thoughts?

It depends on where your at in the country. In Dallas BMW sales are through the roof. The economy isn't near as negatively affected as say, California.

The region your in, has a lot to do with how hungry dealers are.
  • x021627x021627 Posts: 148
June residual for 528 xi is 69% for 24 mos. 10K. I saw that the residual for 528 was 70% for 24 mons 10K, as per another forum.

I saw you are from NJ. Lot's of dealerships to chose from. Lot's of competition. Which dealership did you go to, if you don't mind my asking?

    :D

these figures look good to me, i ran the numbers on lese calculator and you should be around $650+- 5 bucks. but do you really want to do down payment. It may lower down the payments but, you should not do any down payment
  • mango39mango39 Posts: 10
Down payment is towards taxes, deposit, fees and first month payment. Is it also not advisable?

Hi I'm new here also first time leasing a car.
I recently received an offer from a local dealer from chapman BMW in phoenix, AZ .
    Alpine whie
    cream beige
    auto sport transmission
    premium/ sport pkg
    comfort access
    rear sunshades
    ipod adapter
    satellite radio
MSRP $ 58645. and he said my price would be $55040, plus ttl and doc fee

36 month lease, 15k mile/yr w/ inception fees only up front(&2995.45 = 1st months payment, seculity deposit, doc fee and motr vehicle fees ) would give me a payment of $867.33 + 68.96 tax = $936.28/ month.

Do u guys think this is a reasonable deal?
  • 53turk53turk Posts: 8
ok, forget about my previous reply, there was a mistake on the excell sheet.

    msrp-$49,270
    selling price- $42,994
    36mo/15K residual-55% money factor- 0.0022 ( you are getting 0.00275 ask why?)
total due at signing - $1800 (INCLUDING FIRST MONTHS PAYMENT, INCEPTION, DELAER MARK UP, ADVERTISING FEE, ETC)
TAX IS WORKED INTO YOUR MONTHLY PAYMENTS

you should be paying - around $655.00 /mo
  • 53turk53turk Posts: 8
with these terms, you should be paying $ 840/mo

    MSRP $ 58645.
selling price $55040, plus ttl and doc fee
    residual 55% mopey factor 0.0022
    36 month lease, 15k mile/yr w/
due at signing $2,900 ( including first months pay, some cash towards dmv fees, advertising, etc...)

don't let them take your money away, you should be at around $840.00 +-5 bucks

Sounds a little high. Ordered my first BMW after coming off of an Audi A6 lease. It's a Black Sapphire 535XI with the following equipment:

    Cold Weather Pkg
    Premium Pkg
    Auto
    Comfort Access
    Navigation
    Satellite with one year subscription

Retail was $59,270.00. Selling Price $54,793.00. Adjusted cap cost with sales tax $56,663.00. Out of pocket totaled $2,144.00 which included first payment, security deposit, bank fee and doc fee. Total payment came out to $819.34 per month for 39 months at 15K miles per year. Went 39 months because it saved me about $40.00 per month over a 36 month lease.

Now I just have to wait the 6-8 weeks for delivery.
