  • Dealer quoted $431/mo, 36 mo, 15,000 mi/yr, $2500 down. It looks way high given Subaru's May leasing incentives. Appreciate your help.

Hi Jim. I don't remember what the February numbers were like, though you may be able to find them by scrolling back, but I can provide you with this car's current numbers.

Subaru's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2011 Legacy 2.5i Limited CVT with 15,000 miles per year are .00080 and 55%, respectively.

I just leased a 2011 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Premium on May 16th and I wanted to share my experience along with the lease calculation:

    Silver Steel Metallic/Black Cloth
    MSRP $21,295
    Option Package 2 $500
    All-Weather Package
Heated Front Seats, Windshield Wiper De-Icer,
    Heated Side Mirrors
    Lineartronic CVT Transmission $1,000
    Auto-Dim Mirror/Compass/Homelink $271
    Partial Zero Emission (Pzev) $0
    Destination and Delivery $725
    Total Suggested Retail Price $23,791

    PRICING
    MSRP - $23,791
Gross Cap Cost ***Agreed upon value of vehicle***- $21,640.86
Adjusted Cap Cost ***(Selling Price)*** - $22,734.86 ($21,640.86 + Acquisition Fee $595 and Dealer Handling Fee $499)

    LEASE
(36 months 12,000 miles/yr) *($0 down, first month payment due at signing $299)*
    May Money Factor - 0.00115
    Residual Lease End Value (12,000 miles/yr) - 60% or $23,791 x .60= $14,274.60
    Lease Calculation:
    $22,734.86 - $14,274.60 = $8,460.26/36 months = $235.01
    $22,734.86 + $14,274.60= $37,009.46 x 0.00115 = $42.56
    Payment = $277.57
    Tax (Denver, CO 7.72%) = $21.43
Total Monthly Payment = $299 per month (35 months)

I hope this information is helpful...good luck!

I would love to pull off a lease similar to this. However, my motivation is to get out of negative equity on my vehicle. Our local Suburu dealer is also our Mercedes/Volvo Dealer. I currently drive a Mercedes C230 that I purchased CPO from the dealer. Hoping they will give me best price for my car and help roll it into the lease so I can start fresh. Based on the numbers I see, affodability should be cheaper than my current payment even with the negative rolled in. Is this realistic to hope for?

I went to 2 Subaru dealers and both told me that there will be an upcoming shortage of new cars due to the Japanese earthquake and they are selling more pre-owned cars and giving better trade-in values. This may help you get a higher trade-in for your existing car. Always get the best sales price possible for the new car and then talk trade-in. Good Luck!

Hi jimvt. I believe that Subaru's residual values for leases with 12,000 miles per year are 1% higher than its 15,000 mile per year residuals.

    Dear Car Man,

Can you please provide me with Subaru's residual rates and money factor for the month of June on a 2011 Legacy 2.5i Limited for 12,000 36 months?

Please also provide the rates and factors for the 2.5i Premium, and 3.6R. Thanks so much.

    Thanks Car_man,

I was able to pull the trigger on a 2011 Suabaru Legacy Automatic CVT Transmission 2.5i Premium with the All-Weather Package for 12,000 miles/year for 36 months with no money down. The All Weather package gave me, Heated Front Seats, Winshield Wiper De-Icer, Heated Side Mirrors.

They gave me a 59% Residual Rate, and a .00065 Money Factor.

Please let me know if I made a good deal. Here are the lease deals:

    $23,900 MSRP

    $23,000 selling price
    $695.00 Acquisition fee
    ----------------------
    $23,695.00- adjusted total
    -$14,101.00- 59% residual
    ----------------------
$9,594.00- figure used to calculate part one of the lease
    + $75.00- Dlr. reg fee
    + $75.00- to transfer plates
    + $10.00- inspection fee
    + $12.50- NYS tire tax
    -----------------------
    $9,766.50-- Total
    - $0.00-- cap reduction
    -----------------------
$9,766.50 divided by 36 = $271.29 Principle part of lease
    $23,695 + $14,101= $37,796

$37,796- # used to calculate interest charge
    * .00065 Money Factor
    --------------
    $24.57- interest factor
    + $271.29 - Principal
    + $21.30 - Tax 7.2%
    -----------------
    $ 317.16- monthly payment for 35 months

Plus they are getting me out of my current Subaru lease, which had three monthly payments left, waived the disposition fee of $500, and waived my first monthly payment of $317.16 since I am a Subaru Motor Finance loyal customer. Is this deal fair?

This is a quote from a Denver Subaru dealer. I'm looking at leasing a new 11 CVT Legacy 2.5i Premium AWP/Moonroof for 36/15k.

"Thank you for your inquiry into our Subaru Legacy. Please find attached a copy of the Invoice to our Azurite Blue Legacy CVT Premium with AWP & Moonroof as my example. MSRP is $24,915 but the selling price is $22,284 plus our $499.95 dealer fee.

To lease for 36 months with 15,000 miles per year and no money down, just first payment, you are looking at $286 plus tax per month. If your tax rate is 4.9% then thats $14.01 extra."

So lease is coming in at $300/month with $0 down. They have 2.9%/72 financing, which would make my payment around $360-370/month with $0 down.

HELP! I would really like to get the payment around $250/month, is that asking way way too much ($1800 in price difference)??
  • Subaru Legacy 25.i Premium with all weather package and heated seats 39 month lease with 600 (tax, dmv .......) down came out 286 month. :) Took car home last Monday.

    car_man,

Could you please give me the money factor and residuals for a 36 month and 39 month 12000 and 15000 mile lease? Any rebates, incentives, holdbacks??? Having a tough time with the dealers in Norther Cali....

    Thanks so much

I'd be happy to help you out, jamtracy. Subaru's August buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2011 Legacy 2.5i Premium with auto and 15,000 miles per year are .00015 and 54%, respectively for consumers who qualify for its top credit tier.

The numbers for an otherwise identical 39 month lease are .00030 and 52%.

I believe that its residual values for leases with only 12,000 miles per year are 1% higher.

Subaru is currently providing a $500 cash incentive on leases of the '11 Legacy in your area.
