  • Hello..I have a 2009 Sonata Limited. Whenever I turn the car off and then back on again after about 5 minutes or so, I lose all my programmed stations and the radio will be off. I checked the fuse and it is good. I cant figure this out. I am asking everybody what it could be. Also, I have a CD stuck in it that I cant get out. Please Help!!!!

That happened to me a number of times (losing the stations). The most recent time, I realized that there is more than one FM (and maybe AM) set of memorized stations. In other words, if you push the button for AM or FM, you may have gotten the second group, which I hadn't programmed. So I thought I'd lost them, but didn't really. Hope this helps.

Re the stuck CD, I had that happen too. I think I solved it by putting in another CD and then ejecting them and was able to get both of them back.

Let us know how it goes! :)
  • Yeah..it wont take another Cd. My problem is different. If I program all the stations and turn the car off and leave it off for 5-10 minutes, I lose all the stations and the radio wont even be on anymore.
  • I also have the problem with the stations not staying set and my radio is also off when I turn the car back on....have you had any solutions for this?
I just bought the car on Saturday and love it but hope to get the radio thing fixed soon. My CD player also won't take another CD...don't know if one is in there or not since I just bought the car.

You might try this.... remove the fuse that powers the radio. Wait 60 seconds then reinstall the fuse. This will sometimes re boot the radio.
  • I took my Hyundai Sonata to the local dealers service department, they told me they could not/would not fix my radio or CD player (after they set an appointment for them to look at it). They said the only option was either an after market radio/CD or a new one from their factory. I asked the price and was told $1,074.52 but this includes installation and taxes....LOL!!!! I was so mad!!! Why didn't they tell me this before I went there? Why can't they at least look at it??? I don't want an after market radio that won't ever match but I sure don't want to pay $1,074.52! The radio works but will not hold the radio stations when you program them...and the CD won't take a CD..don't know if it works or not. I am very dissappointed with the service from Hyundai.

If your car is out of warranty(radio warranty only 36k miles) than they should have given you the option of whether or not to have it diagnosed. In all honesty, it would save you alot of money to have an aftermarket radio put in as opposed to a factory one which as you know is expensive, but still at least give you the option to choose for yourself.

    Hi all,

I have a Sonata 2011 w/ the GPS system and all of my audio is off. I have looked in the various displays, but can't find a mute or anything similar that seems to work to turn the audio back on. Does anyone have an easy solution or is there a more extensive problem? I have checked the owners manual to no avail.

    Thanks!

Are you referring to all sound coming from the radio and navigation system or are you referring to just the turn-by-turn directions from the navigation system itself? If the latter, there is a little icon of a speaker on the left side of the screen while on the map. If there is a circle with a line through it on top of it, then the navigation audio is turned off. Just tap on that icon and the circle and line through it should disappear and you will have audio again.

I just bought a 2012 Sonata Limited w/o navigation and am using my 5th Generation iPod, connected with the iPod's USB cable, NOT the Hyundai cable. My podcasts are sped up and sound like chipmunks too. Did anyone help you with your problem?

I own a 2010 Hyundai Sonata limited with a V6 (not sure if that's important) Every time I turn the ignition off I lose all my radio presets (I do not lose the clock memory) I have checked the fuses for the radio and memeory and they are good. In addition, when I access the cd player i get the error message "reading disk". I have 48K miles, so the radio is out of warranty. Any ideas?
  • I have a 2011 Sonata. The audio went out. It failed after 2 years.

The dealer has indicated that I need to replace the Navigation/Audio system with a new unit for $2650 due to an internal failure on the Nav/Audio system. Are there after market/refurbished units available?

Isn't the audio/nav system covered under factory warranty?

I just purchased a used 08 sonata and have a few radio questions:
*Does the amp pull signals from line inputs or preamp inputs?
*Is there anywhere I can get detailed information about the output wiring diagrams for the head unit?
    thanks!

I have a 2011 Sonata that I recently bought and my presets also go away when I restart my car. Actually, the presets appear to go back to some other presets that came with the car when I bought it. Have you found a solution and if so, can you convey them to me?
    Thanks,
    Sol
  • Did you ever find a solution to the problem. I have a 2009 Sonata, with the exact same problem. CD player will not take a CD and programmed stations will not hold.
  • sneumansneuman Posts: 2
No, I never did find a solution. Except, "go to Best Buy to replace the radio for 1/3rd of the cost of Hyundai".
  • Does anyone have more information on system thats in brochures, or know any sites that discuss it in any detail
  • I bought a 2013 Sonata Limited about 3 weeks ago and am having difficulty finding information about the "My Music" feature -- The owners manual makes several references to it, but tells virtuallly nothing about it -- From the little that is there, it seems that it's a hard drive to which I can load music files, but how does one do that and what are the parameters? -- Can I make folders for different genres and/or artists? --

Any info, instruction and/or details would be greatly appreciated -- C
  • Have you set up your Bluetooth from your phone or MP3 player? When your device is connected, you can choose to copy your contacts and music to the car.
  • I've bought a Sonata 2009 and when I connect a USB
The audio system stops on USB READING...
I've changed the USB for more than 5 but It doesn't work with any
    All the tracks are MP3
How can I fix this problem please?
  • thegraduatethegraduate Posts: 9,731
You're just plugging in a thumb-stick USB right? Not an actual mp3 player? If so, the folders on the thumb drive may not be properly indexed.

When I got my USB for my 09 Sonata (GLS V6), I formatted the USB first, then dragged and dropped the files from my desktop to that folder.

Just trying to think of ways to help.
  • Did you ever find a solution?? I also just bought a 2009 sonata just 4 days ago. EXACT same problem! What is the deal?? How & who can fix it?
  • Were you able to resolve the issue with your radio? I am experiencing the same problems you experienced (XM radio freezing and IPod/AUX cable not working). Any help is appreciated.
  • When my daughter and I each bought a 2011 Hyundai Accent GL hatchback at the same time from 2 different dealerships in 2 different states, we noticed we both heard a metallic, rattling noise from the area of one of the rear tires. The cars were purchased new, but we didn't bring them in to be serviced yet. What are the possibilities of the problem?
