  • I listed these a majority of these thoughts a couple of years ago on the Spectra Sedan forum:

    1. Telescoping steering wheel

    2. Gas struts / and linkage arms moved outside of the trunk opening like the Civic and the Focus

    3. 16" inch rims standard

    4. Radio controls on wheel (like Optima)

    5. Leather wheel standard on EX

    6. Fog lights able to be turned on independent of headlights

    7. Some powertrain options (larger motor like Mazda's 2.3 on the Mazda3, or a turbo option)

    8. Allow the EX to be ordered with fog lights again

    9. Put gas cap on a tether (although I'm now used to hanging the loose cap up on the hook on the fuel filler door... once I learned about it!)

    10. Do away with glued on aero parts (on Spectra5 and SX) and create completely unique fascias. Too many people are b-tching on the 'Net about knocking off the flimsy stuck on pieces. That makes the cars look/sound cheesy.

    11. Offer a premium sound system that offers an in-dash CD changer cartridge and a jack for plugging iPods into.

    12. Offer the leather interior and heated seats that are available in Europe.

    13. Move rear antenna up onto the roof, using one of those small low profile types

That's all I can think of for now!

bought an Optima for my wife. She likes hatches and the Spectra5 would have been on the short list but I didn't like the looks of the ground effects plus the comments on this board were enough to take it out of consideration.

Definitely a leather/heated seat option. Maybe an upscale wood-trim package....
  • These are the things I'd like to see in a Spectra:
    1. Make the following standard:
    a. ABS (safety first!)
    b. Air conditioning (C'mon, who - unless you live at the south pole - doesn't offer air conditioning as a standard feature?)
    c. cruise control (Again, should ALWAYS be a standard feature!!)
    d. electric seats (Not totally mandatory--but would be nice!)
    e. For the fold-down seats, a latch to fold them down from the INSIDE of the vehicle, instead of having to use the latch from the trunk. (After all, what if it's raining cats & dogs outside and you need to get into the trunk?)
  • I totally agree on the ABS.

A/C is standard on the EX.

Strangely enough, the cruise control on the 04/05 Toyota Camry is identical in appearance and in the same location in the Spectra and those Toyota owners complain about hitting knees on it. Put it in the steering wheel.

Electric seats are great but the biggest improvement in the seating area is making the bottom cushion longer for better thigh support and providing more lateral support.

The reason they put the latches in the trunk area is because one usually loads long objects from the rear of the car. You'll get wet anyway if it's pouring rain. A downpour usually speeds one up considerably.
  • I actually looked at a Kia because it didn't have the "wood" effect, but I agree leather seated/heated option would be awesome!
  • I'd love it if Kia made a Spectra3. Just take the 5 chuck 2 doors, shorten it a bit and I'm in love.
