    You mean Ford quality.

Also remember when your one of the last ones to the dance (SUV) you should be better than your competition, in several, if not all areas.
  • Hey, no criticism intended for taking on a giant corporation and losing in a court case - I salute you for making the attempt.

I just wonder what their position was in denying your faulty engineering claim, if that was the suit basis.

We got the judge's attention in a very big way when we showed, and the Lexus expert verified, that the A/C compressor circuit was being opened automatically, and the indicator extinguished, without any obvious warning to the operator.

No one disagreed that the fogging of the windshield was the direct result of the compressor being cycled off.

But then the Lexus EXPERT got up and testified "truthfully" (he believed everything the Lexus lawyers had prepped him to say, and he wasn't smart enough to figure things out for himself) that I had exacerbated the fogging episode by turning up the heat and blower rather than just simply re-activating the A/C.

The Lexus expert argued that turning the A/C back on would have worked because the cold mountain airflow would have been warmed enough as it flowed through the cowling and plenum that the A/C could have dehumidified it by cooling it back down to its original temperature.

    Yeah, right, SURE!

Don't take a technical case before a judge without a CERTIFIED technical expert by your side.
  • I LIVE IN THE WASHINGTON DC/MD AREA, AND I WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE A 2002 RX300 WITHOUT THE NAVIGATION SYATEM. I GOT A QUOTE FROM A DEALER FOR 37,000. IS THIS A GOOD PRICE? OR WHAT IS A GOOD PRICE?
  • First time Lexus owner. Bought my new car on 11-3-01. I traveled to Louisville, KY in order to save $4200 (including trade and cost of new vehicle). I live in Nashville. In this area they won't come off sticker. To me $37000 does not sound like that great of a deal on a 2002 RX without navigation. Guess it depends on whether its a AWD or 2WD. I'm not sure about the Washington DC area. Anyway, I'm a first time poster and just wanted to see if I'm doing this right. I love my new car!
  • THAKS KAREN
YOU DID IT PERFECTLY. DID YOU BUY THE RX300 WITH THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND AWD. IF YOU DONT MIND TELLING ME WHAT'S A GOOD PRICE FOR THAT.
    THANKS

I found if I turn the ignition key to ON, leave light switch at eith AUTO or ON, and then take the key out and close the door, headlight will turn off in about one minute. Then I tried without key in ignition, just leave the switch at ON, no it does not turn light off (in 2 minutes, could not wait any longer).

As you have demonstrated, this is a free country, people are able to express their opinions. I hope you will be happy with your new ML, but you better check where it was made.

First, I own a 2001 911 AWD, and I would attest that its overall quality is in the range of any Lexus.

But, I would never say the same for other cars of German design and build. BMW and MB have both been struggling mightily for over ten years to catch up with Lexus and I'm sure they still have a ways to go. I think if you ask them they would say the same.

Now. I just a wee bit tired of the ML being disparaged simply because it is american built. I would agree, absolutely, that the early versions left a lot, a whole lot, to be desired.

But like BMW and MB over the past ten years, the overall quality improvements of the ML up until now have been outstanding.
  • FYI - Consumer Reports lists both the BMW X5 and Mercedes ML SUV's under the WORST for reliability. Although the BMW and Mercedes handle great and ride extremely well, I would not spend that amount of money on an automobile unless it is somewhat reliable.

Yes I'll never want a car with "better performance and handling" but less reliable.
  • clee4, You have to excuse Ruxpin. He has a identity crisis. He ranted for a bit in the Lexus ES300 forum also about Lexus vs. mercedes-Benz.
  • New owner here, just purchased an '02 RX300. Vehicle has 300 miles after a week and I am very satisfied.

The one question I have.. is it common to experience a slight idle vibration while in gear or park? My car normally idles at about 500 RPMS and I can even feel the vibration in the steering wheel. Comments?
  • jiaminjiamin Posts: 556
Mine idle at 700 rpm, virtually no vibration no matter which gear it is in. 500 rpm seems a little too low for most cars.
  • That would explain it. Thats an awfully low idle speed..

  • Does anyone know of an "on line" source for touch up paint for the RX300? I bought some from the dealer but it has dried up and I am not close to a dealer.
  • Has anyone bought the rx300AWD recently?. What's a good price. or what did you pay for yours. Can you recommend a dealership. I live in Maryland, but I can buy in wASHINGTON D.C. Virginia OR EVEN PA.
    THANKS
