This spring, the Subaru Club here at Edmund's is planning a road trip to the SIA plant in Indiana. We are welcome to tag along seeing as the Rodeos and the upcoming Axiom are being built there. One of the subaru reps is probably going to come so we should get a really good tour. Anyone here interested?

Paisan, I would love to go but don't think I'll have the free time. I'm in the Detroit area and the drive wouldn't be too bad, but there's a new baby on the way and that makes free time pretty scarce.

If you get more details, post 'em here because this sounds like a really fun and educational idea. Maybe I'll be able to sneak away if the schedule fits.

Mike, which vehicle will you take? Trooper or Subaru?
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
Definitely the trooper, I love my XT6 but the trooper is much more comfy! :)

Well it looks like we are going to try to make a go of a field trip to the SIA plant sometime in the spring or summer. I'd like to get a feeling of who would be interested in this. The plant is located in Lafayette, Indiana, about 750miles from NYC. I'll probably make a 3 or 4 day weekend out of it. Anyone in the NY/NJ/PA/CT area interested in riding with me is welcome.

Anybody going to Moab, Utah this May for the 'Zu Zoo? Got my camping reservations already...

Paison and I have discussed this offline briefly. It is in PA near Hazelton. A decent day trip from NE cities. I don't want to organize (I might depending on interest) but will gladly attend. Let's get a group together. If people are interested we can start an offline thread.

  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
    Cool. I'm about 750miles :)

Let me know when is good for you, cause right now it's wide open and in the beginning phases, so I can steer the subaru people whatever way we want, as far as dates and what not.

I've just bought a brand new Isuzu Rodeo AS 2001 and after 1 week I noticed an exhaust noise
But in service dept. I was explained that this is a normal for track?
Also I noticed that sometimes in 3 -4 sec. after I pushed a break I hear a very low frequency clop .
And this is very intermittent so if some one has a similar problem fixed, please let me know what
    To explain to service etch.

    Thanks,
    Yuriy.

Paison, when is the trip? If its early July I am going to try to make it.
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
    Hey guys and girls...

I pulled this from the Planet Isuzoo Mailing list. Its a trip to NC for some very light off-roading in July. I'm planning on being there. Let's have a big Edmunds turnout for this! A number of us will be caravaning from the Northeast. Here is the post:

    > Well, just to remind everyone, Planetisuzoo is having a fun run in NC at

    > Uwharrie National Forrest (Point your GPS at Troy, NC) this July 20-22.

    > Many people will be arriving on Friday, but if you can't make it until

    > Saturday you will certainly still have fun.

    >

    > We have a write-up from the one last July online at:

    >

    > If anyone has any hesitation, PLEASE send out an e-mail to the list. This

    > event is a lot of fun, and there are trails for all levels of vehicle,

    > including stock. I made it last July in my stock 88 Trooper with sagging

    > springs. The way I see it unless your truck isn't running, the truck can't

    > be your excuse.

    >

    > If there are any questions, feel free to ask. I will be posting a set of

    > maps fairly soon.

Hey all, Looks like we may have a very very light off-roading adventure next weekend in the pine-barrens of NJ. A bunch of subaru guys are gonna be going down there for some off-roading and I asked if we could tag along. I figure those of us who are stock and don't want to really mess up our trucks might be interested. May 6th in the Pine Barrens, details as they become available.

I wish I could make it. I will be travelling. Make sure you put a good coat of wax on first. When I was there, we hit a lot of trails that where a foot less in diameter than the truck, a lot of branches scraping over the truck. A thick coat of wax, followed by a meguires wax/cleaner will clear up all of it.

It was fun though, the terrain wasn't too difficult. A few mud bogs (probably more so in the spring) and river crossings (skid plates helped here too). The only thing I didn't like was the droves of motor cycle riders, I kept it under 25, I would see a bunch coming around the corner about 45, I would stop, they would continue. A couple of times they wouldn't look up until the last minute, one time I was stopped and a guy had to dump who was not paying attention or he would have been a hood ornament. look out!

Paison, I think I can make it to the pine barrens. Email me.
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
I don't have your address handy e-mail me mike@iace.com and I'll write back. I figure the trails won't be too hard since there will be a bunch of subies there anything they can do, we can do better :)

Hey folks, just wanted to invite anyone interested in a weekend of off-roading in Uwharrie Forest, NC to come with the guys from the Isuzu group(s). Here is the important Info:

    Date: July 20-22

    Where: UWharrie, NC

    What: Off-roading and Camping Trip.

I checked with the Isuzu guys and they said that stock trucks shouldn't have any problems since Uwharrie is relatively tame, unless you choose to go for the real hard stuff (but there are bypasses). It should be a fun weekend, Kids and pets are welcome and encouraged. More details can be found at: http://www.outdoorwire.com/ubb/Forum68/HTML/004378.html

Hey all. The Planet Isuzu Fun Run in North Carolina is set for 2 weekends from now! Check out the info here: http://www.outdoorwire.com/ubb/Forum68/HTML/004111.html I'm definitely going on this trip which is going to be a lot of fun, and it's able to handle stock trucks. In fact some of the subaru people from Edmunds will likely be joining us.

Ok folks, I'm grabbing the bull by the horns on this one. I'm gonna organize the first SIA Pine Barrens Trail Ride!

    Date: Sept 15th
Place: Pine Barrens Area of NJ
Event: Trail Ride, picnic lunch, Trail Ride, Dinner
Who: Subarus and Isuzus from all over.
Rating: Stock Foresters, Outbacks, Outback Sports, Axioms, Troopers, Rodeos, Amigos, VXs, Heck even Legacies if you are adventurous, and Imprezas.

Basically it's gonna be a relatively easy trail ride, if there are any major obstacles, we'll make sure there is a by-pass available. I'm gonna pre-run the trails the weekend before just to verify that they are not too hard. Items to bring?

Tow strap (not with metal hooks, just a strap)
    Water for Drinking
CB Radio and/or FRS (We'll be using the CB band, but hopefully someone will bring FRSs so we can co-broadcast)

I'll try to get more details together, along with "other stuff to do in the area" for those who have families that aren't up for the trail ride. We can also arrange for people who don't want to take their cars on the trail to ride along with others as well.

Any other info suggestions etc. let me know, I'm open to a lot of stuff.

Good fun. It was a decent trip. Next time I think it would be better if we all had CB's and if we did a little more discovery than down the preset trails. The roads were very easy. The mud holes were good fun to watch the few plow through. An earlier start, a decent sand pit, and a few more challenging sections would make it even better.

From Paisan's web site it looks like you guys had a good turnout. Also, good to get together under these current circumstances.
