Best Buy seemed kind of high on their prices. I live in the burbs of Chicago and got mine installed at a local custom van shop. I got an Audiovox 6.8" flipdown monitor (http://www.discountmobilevideo.com/items/item100.htm), Audiovox VCP (http://www.discountmobilevideo.com/items/item492.htm), 2 wireless headphones, remote (for the VCP, see my note below) and a separate speaker all installed for $999 plus tax.
Just be aware that (at least on the Audiovox systems) if you get a monitor without a built in tuner then the remote control will not allow you to control the volume or screen settings. You can only control the VCP. Kind of a pain in the #$@ because when you have a 2 year old you have to manually adjust the volume before you take off. Also, the volume resets itself to zero every time the unit is turned off which is why you have to mess with it every time. I would definitely upgrade to the model with the tuner just to have the remote that controls everything.
Of course if you don't mind installing yourself, there are several online stores such as the one noted above where you can buy the systems pretty inexpensively.
I would like to know if anyone has any recommendations as to what the best product is for polishing and sealing the Sedona. Winter is coming and I want this baby to be protected!
Thanks in advance - LOVE THIS VAN!

SUVs, Vans and Aftermarket & Accessories Message Boards
My wife was worried by the MPG numbers on the window sticker (15/20) and the small gas tank (as compared to the Windstar).
But my calculations from the first full tank that I put into it gave me approx. 18.5 mpg city. Could it be that Kia is under-estimating the fuel economy rating on these vans? That would be strange...
Excelent3 I will also look into the Silicone Glaze.

Lab v. real world seems to me (based upon experience and this board): 16-18 city is norm with 22-24 hwy. The numbers on the sticker should be more like 17 23, imho. ymmv

Should I pay the holdback fee? I don't think I should. The way i understand it that is money between the dealer and manufacturer.
Am i off base here?
Also, the marketing allowance? What is that for? Negotiable? To what extent? How far have others cut into this percentage-wise during negotiations?
The climate here is that there are a bunch of 2002 Sedona's around (35 or so within a 40 minute drive).
I think I'm in the driver seat on negotiating, but I need some understanding of these costs to aid in the discussion.
Dealer said he would sell at invoice, which he sent me, minus rebate, but I don't like the holdback and marketing allow. I would rather spend my money on options.

Good Luck EX3
I wouldn't hesitate to buy from the good dealer in the next town and take it to the nearby dealer for service. Chances are your salesperson will be selling Hondas or refrigerators next month anyway, and won't be around to go to bat for you with the service department anyway.

Prices on 2002s should be significantly better now, even before the $1,000 rebate.

When anyone hears when K&N makes an air filter for the Sedona, would you post it? I keep checking their web site and so far all they make is the oil filter.
Has anyone driven their Sedona through last winter with the Kumho tires? Mine seem very slippery on wet pavement and this may translate into poor snow/ice performance. I may be buying new tires long before I had planned. I've been looking at the BFGoodrich Control T/A M65. They seem to be a good buy and do well in the snow. Any other thoughts besides the other stock tires, the Hankooks?
The new trim piece will surely show wear with time, but it is nice to have a new, unblemished trim back there. The original piece had plenty of scratches and other marks. Hopefully the replacement part will hold up better.
For other folks who feel that various parts of the trim are wearing too easily, you may have success with simply telling your dealer the wear on a part is unacceptable and asking them to replace it.

http://www.kia.ca/english/showroom/specs.asp?m=3&t=18
Paid $28000 CDN or about $US 17K. After taxes = $US 19500. Financing = 0% downpayment for 60 months at 2.9%.
I really don't know why minivans are 20-30% more expensive in the US but it seems to be the case for Windstars and Caravans also. As for KIA the only difference is the warranty. We get maximum of 5 years/60 000 miles.

Check out the Honda Odyssey or Toyota Sienna boards some time. You don't even have to read them, just look at the list of discussion groups and thats all you need to see! In fact these two vans represent the manufacturers most problematic vehicles.
Realize when Honda broke into the market their product was sub-standard and needed alot of improvement, especially the body panels because they rusted so quickly. Toyota, Nissan, Suburu and others certaily all had their issues. They came into the market place when the domestic manufacturers were really building garbage, a prime time, in turn the American consumer saw value, and reliability in the imports.
I believe since Hyundai bought out Kia, there have been great strides made. The Sedona represents a bold move, entering into the brutally competitive mini-van sector...and scoring BIG, making a huge statement. The Sorento, in my argueable opinion will do the same .
Hats off to KIA, no doubt they will continue to break their own sales records .....EX3
You missed out self-congratulatory postings. Having said that I do hope your prophecies come true, but I think it's still too early to count your chickens.
Is there a way to measure the torque of the lug before removing it? Assuming it's at the correct torque (potentially a huge assumption), that could be your guideline.
Otherwise, you can always go with the 'pretty tight' spec. I believe our Contour lugs were rated around 72 lb-ft and our Trooper around 87 lb-ft, if memory serves correctly.
One last thought: Discount Tire probably has the info and should be willing to share especially if you've bought tires there in the past or plan to do so in the future.
Mine suddenly developed a crack at the bottom of the glass about one inch to the left of center (near the headlight sensor) going up about 3 inches then curving around toward the right. There is no indication of it being hit by anything. Did Kia warrany take care of previous problems?
