    I had trouble with the seat as well - just has no support, it's like sitting on a folding chair with a little padding & nice leather. Lexus really needs to go get a Volvo seat, tear it down, and copy it. Eventually, I got used to it - but it's probably the poorest part of the car, IMO.

    Well, I don't have my conversion chart with me, so I don't know what $5000 euros means to me, but the risk with a well kept 93 LS400, would be in the air suspension, and the LCD readouts in the dash, and the instrument cluster. You may lose a power steering pump too, which when it leaks, will take out the alternator below. But the engine and transmission are only half done, so I wouldn't worry about those.

    I had same/similar problem...an '04 LS 430 with unsatisfactory ride. Turned out to be a busted strut, left rear. An inexpensive (relatively) fix that really give the car a beautiful ride again. Maybe your situation is different, tho.

    This may seem strange, but I also had problems finding a comfortable driver's seat position but fooled around with it a lot and found one that's great even on long rides. I hated the seat, not I like it.

    I still hate the seat, and have not really yet found that sweet spot for a seating position. I've always had this problem with Toyotas - they're not built for a long-legged, fat assed American male. If I don't buy another Lexus, the seat would likely be the reason. The rest of the car, I love.

    I DID buy another Lexus in August, and the seat on this one is far superior to my old one. So, the relentless pursuit is still going on, successfully.

    I just purchased a 2005 LS430 and I cannot get the driver side wiper blade loose from its clamp. I am sure they are the OEM parts as the car has 27K miles on it. Can someone please let me know how to change or remove this clamp. I really do not want to pay the Lexus Dealership $60 for two new wipers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    It's time for tire replacement. Currently the car has michelin harnony tires. These tires have been very very smooth. Should I replace with the same? Also, just replaced the front struts...therefore, should I get the a 4 wheel aliggment as well?

    My car has 144,00 miles. How many miles should I bank on having the car. Car has been maintained very well. I'd love to see it go to 200k or better. I drove the LS430...the ride is about the same ...it just has more bells and whistles for a steep price...but mine is paid for...what do you think?

    For a nice and quiet and comfortably riding LS, or RX for that matter, you probably can't do better than the Bridgestone Turanza summer only tires. My RX rides on them all year 'round and I resort to tire chains at times of need.

    Not sure about you, but around here, there are several local repair shops I would trust to change wiper blades, and most will do it for FREE - of course I'll have to but the blades from them:)

    Just bought a

    2004 LS430 mileage: 33460 cost: $26,500 with Navigation 17inch wheels

    Silver with cashmere interior. One previous owner (older lady) purchased from Lexus dealership as a certified pre-owned so it has the 3 year or 100,000 mile coverage.
    The car is close to immaculate. After a week of negotiating and almost settling for a car in Texas that I would have had shipped to me in Maryland, the salesman came off of his price. The initial price was $28,800.
    I am very happy with owning my first Lexus. I have always admired the 2001-2006 LS430 / Toyota Celsior MC30 not so much a fan of the other body styles.
    I am 6ft 4 inches and the legroom is excellent, also the backseat legroom was a major selling point as I have a new child. With the baby seat in the middle position in the back there is still room for two adults, on either side of the babyseat, of my height.
    I look forward to having a great experience. I would add that the Dar CArs team in Silver Spring MD seemed a bit overwhelmed by the amount of purchasers of late.

    Also, the radio light has gone out...is this the beginning of the end of the panel lights...if so, what is the average repair bill? Is it a difficult job to do labor wise?

    You need to get a hold of a good mechanic, preferably a Lexus/Toyota mechanic. As for the heated not working, it could just be a fuse problem. The front suspension needs to be inspected by a alignment specialist. I am not sure if you want spend a lot for a brand new. If you are planning to keeping the car for a long time then a brand new radio will suit you. You can also find a good radio at the junk yard, EBay or maybe even an ad in the local paper.

    Not sure if you noticed, but you responded to a message that is more than 9 years old. Not a problem, as your advice may be helpful to someone else who's having a similar problem, but you might not want to waste time in the future trying to fix a problem that's probably already been solved, or the car sold long ago.

    You can go to Sam's Club and buy yourself a set of wipers. They can install it for at no charge as London as you buy it from them. I am not sure is Costco if they can install it for you. The dealer charges $60.00 for a pair is pricey. You can also buy it from an outside guy for less.

    Hi Karen, thanks for starting this post. I just purchased a 1996 Lexus ls 400 with 67K. It now has 71K. So far, I am pleased with the car as I was looking for reliability and comfort for long trips. Let me know if anyone has questions.

    I purchased new an LS460L with the executive package in July 2010. It has been fantastic and I have as yet to have any problems. Of course that is typical as I have previously owned an LS 430 and SC 430 also with no problems. I am a very satisfied customer.
    However I am considering an MB S-class cabriolet which is due out next year only because Lexus does not produce an upscale convertible. I am concerned about MB's reliability but we shall see when the time comes. In the meantime I love my Lexus.

    My car is the last year of the LS400. I got it in 2007 in Salt Lake City. I recently had the timing belt replaced and have started having intermittent electrical Gremlins. These have nothing to do with the operation of the car, but I still would like to hear about any ideas for tracking them down and eliminating them. I don't like or trust the dealer in my home town. This because of problems my father had with his Cadillac there, plus I had a new key for my car and getting it set required an appointment at the dealer, dropping it off, picking it up and a fancy charge. Later, a friend had a similar need with a Ford Taurus and I was able to do the same thing for her by using instructions in the manual, in about 2 minutes sitting in her driveway. I think Lexus treats the dealer like a automotive James Bond, except they give the dealer a license to steal. I did have a great experience with the Dealer in Tulsa, OK and would go back there if it were not so far from my home.
