I'm right up above you in the Upstate. A colleague at work commented recently about Phil Hughes Honda over in Athens, GA. They beat out the Upstate dealers on price and he was very satisfied with the experience. He's pretty sharp with money and I know that he did his homework. Most Hondas around here come from Piedmont in Anderson or Breakaway in Greenville. I've never heard anything really bad about either but I don't know how they are on price. I had an 89 Accord many years ago and used Piedmont and Vic Bailey in Spartanburg for service and was happy with both.
Someone mentioned East Coast in Myrtle Beach. I believe that they are owned by the same people as Piedmont in Anderson. not positive though.
As far as small towns go, in my experience there has been a lot less sales pressure. My worst experiences have been in the bigger towns.
The two places I visited a few years ago in Atlanta were snake pits; I wouldn't go back to either if they were $3000 less.
IF you do your homework, you will get a good deal most anywhere. The big difference in my opinion is the culture of the dealership and the BS you have to endure to get there.
In 1996, my FIL bought my SIL a new Accord. There was a $200 difference between the Florence dealer and the Bennettsville dealer. (Bennettsville is tiny. They must have had the franchise since the 70's. Smallest town to have a Honda dealer that I have ever come across.)
Let us know what you find out. I don't have a local dealer here. GSP, Anderson, Augusta, Columbia, and Athens are all about the same distance away from home. I might be in the market for an Accord next year and would be interested in what you find.
We just received an offer for a 2008 Accord LX-P/Automatic, OTD for 21,750.00. We live in East Stroudsburg, PA; we contacted Route 22 Honda in NJ and best they could do was 22,100.00. Does this deal seem fair?
Best offer I got from Houston dealers is still high compare to what others got
Accord EX V4 Sedan $22,200
Accord EX V6 Sedan $23,500
is that the best I could get in HOUSTON area?
please help
Thanks
By the way, the 4-cylinder isn't a "V4", it is an "Inline-4" or an "I4." Using the proper terms may influence the dealer to take you a little more seriously. Just trying to help.
I that price seem fair in Houston?
The "V" in "V6" stands for the Vee shape of the cylinders, in 2 banks of 3. In a 4-cylinder, they are all in a row, or "inline" 4-cylinders.
Here is a V6 engine block, you can see where the pistons go, in a Vee formation.
Here is an "inline-4" engine.
I hope that helps!
Regarding prices... did those quotes include all taxes and fees? Details would help.
The price include every thing except TT&L
so it would be
2008 Accord EX V4 Sedan $22,200 + TT&L
2008 Accord EX V6 Sedan $23,500 + TT&L
I got a quote by accident from a dealer out of CA for 2009 ($22,800 + TT&L)
It's even lower than the quote I form from Houston dealer for 2008 accord
What am I doing wrong? please help

I am hoping to get down to at least invoice pricing on this car when the deal is made.
Accord EX: 22,255
I am hoping to get down to at least invoice pricing on this car when the deal is made."
I just ment '09 Accords are available. Not a specific trim and transmission. Sorry for not making myself clear.
I just checked my build status for my dealership and we have one with a build date of 10/12 - 10/16 and that one is already sold. So yeah, that seems right to me.
Now to inject some persective from a dealer: I doubt you'll be able to buy at it invoice. When a dealer gets a limited number of vehicles to fill orders, there really is no incentive to discount it to invoice. $500-700 over is reasonable for both parities (IMO). However, I can not speak for dealers in your area. Just my .02.
Paid $27,060, includes destination ($500 over invoice + destination $670) Dealer threw in wheel locks.
Added one additional dealer option for $99 (guaranteed loaner car for service plus 10% discount on services)
Tax (7%- $1894), registration ($334), documentation ($219) extra. NJ charges $334, but that's for 4 years registration and inspection, which won't need to be done until 2012. There were some other minor fees that were under $20 so it wasn't worth arguing over.
Was not looking for the lowest rock bottom price, as I wanted to have the car serviced locally. Guaranteed loaner car for service over 1 hour was important. Was just looking for decent deal.
I really had to have an '09 and most dealers were pushing '08 inventory.
For the OTD folks- $29,621.40.
Since so many of the folks on this board were helpful with what they were paying and being quoted, I thought I'd return the favor.
2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 without Navi (no additional accessories)
MSRP $28,730
Price $25,339.82
Sales Tax $1,583.74
Dealer Inventory Tax $53.39
Inspection and Title Fee $56.75
License Fee $72.30
Documentary Fee $50.00
Drive Out $27,156.00
I showed the dealer a printout of the Honda Care extended warranties on https://www.myhondawarranty.com They offer 8 years / 120,000 miles extended warranty with $0 deductible for $995. The dealer refused to match it stating that $995 is the dealer's cost. The dealer offered it for $1095 and I offered to split the difference. I ended up buying this for an additional $1045. Honda Warranty code is D82.
I prepared by reading this forum and so here is my contribution back to this forum. I encourage everyone who beleives that they negotiated a better deal because of this forum to please post the final sale price, taxes, fees, and drive out price. Good Luck on buying your next car!
08 Accord LX sedan: 19,815
08 Accord EX sedan: 22,255
The prices are before TTL. I'm in Missouri. Do you think they are good deals? Thanks.
It may not make sense, I admit it is an emotional thing, but as I said, I was not after the lowest price. The loaner car thing was only $99 and I listed it in case someone was adding up the numbers. I just posted for folks that might be looking at '09's.
I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that will make better deals. I just decided what I was willing to pay to get what I wanted now, made an offer and bought the car. I can now enjoy driving what I wanted- totally emotional- not economic based, I'll admit.
Regarding your LX-P prices (post 21811): are your quotes for AT or MT? 2008 or 2009?
Thank you in advance.
Should I go with the 2008 or 2009? Aren't they basically the same?
This is my first post and I've never bought a Honda so I'm not exactly sure what I should do to get the best car for the best price.
Thanks,
Michelle in Tx
Personally, I would never set foot into a dealership without having first obtained an internet "quick quote" from several dealers. That way you'll know what your price is without all the back/forth games, and it's highly likely that you won't be able to beat the internet offered price. No difference between the 08 and 09 Accords. If you're ok having an 08, you'll save about $1k and have better Honda finance offerings as well. For the v6 I bought last week, they had 0.9% on 08's only...Rates on the 4 cyl will be higher.
I will email several dealerships in my area for prices. Do they actually give you amounts via email?
Again, thanks for your help. I was pretty much clueless!
looking for a 2008 Accord EX-L prefer V6,
I would like to know what is a good price to pay ?
Absolutley! I emailed six area dealerships, and got quotes back quickly, often within the hour. Just be careful to compare apples/apples. Make sure that their quote includes the destination charge. They will all start calling you to follow-up, but just say you've decided on something else. The price they give you should be the car plus destination. The other tax, title, license fees should be the same for all dealers. I found my best price, picked the dealer, did the test drive and was done. No stress, no games, no B.S.
I get what you are saying. I'm sort of in the same boat. I'm driving a 2000 accord and almost pulled the trigger on an 08 this week. I changed my mind and decided to wait for a 2009. I too keep my cars for 8 plus years and didn't feel like buying a new 08 and then knowing 2 weeks later my car is already considered a year old.
The only difference with me is I'm going to wait to buy the 09 until I can get it for around invoice price.
Part of the extra $$ you paid now for a 2009 you will get back on the back end when you can sell it for more than an 08.
08 EX-L 22,750 ,
09 EX-L 23,250
The dealer told me OTD price for both are all around 24,500. My tax rate is 6%
It's my best deal so far. All the ohter quote are all 1000 higher for 08 model and 3000 more for 09.
I think it's a great deal if I go get a 09, isn't ? :lemon:
Can someone quote prices for '08 EXs in the DC area?
Are prices being quoted below "invoice" per Edmunds?
Thanks,
Heck yes!! The 08's are going for well below the Edmunds TMV and invoice prices. Got my 08 EXL v6 for $1231 under invoice last week. Here's a comparison 2008 Accord Sedan EXL v6 w/o Navi.
MSRP: $28,730
Edmunds TMV: $27,048
Invoice: $26,086
My price on 8/22: $24,855.
