I purchased a screen through Morpar for my 2002 Sebring Unlimited. I had the dealership install it. I like it and it does help.

Does anyone have recommendations for getting an extended warranty for my '03 Sebring LXi sedan? Company names and cost? The dealership is sending me their information to obtain one, but I do not trust them fully (I've been back multiple times for various problems, some of which are still not remedied).

Hello, everyone!!!! I would like some advice about a possible purchase: 2004 Sebring Coupe Limited brand new - off the door I will be owing $13,000. I'm trading my 2004 Toyota Matrix, good car, but it's a big difference froim a 4-cyl to a 6-cul. I will be paying only $7.00 more a month. How would you recommend this car? What about insurance? I'm paying $2,104 a year for my Matrix, way too high for this type of car. How much do you pay for insurance? I am in Miami, Florida. Thanks in advance.

    Hi!
I have just purchased a beautiful light blue 2003 Sebring LX Sedan with 31,000 miles for $10K! I absolutely love it! It already started to give me a minor problem but it is under warranty so it's no big deal. Overall I am very satisfied. I love the gauges! I plan to "pimp" it out. I going to tint the windows, put a custom interior, put a sound system, and probably put 20" chrome wheels on it. I just have to save some money first. I have big dreams for my car...hopefully I can make them come true. I reccomend this car to everyone! Very clean ride and drives great!

I have a 2000 Chrysler Sebring convert. The windshield washer does not work, I took it to the shop they wanted $450.00 to install a new multi function switch, we had it put in for 160.00 by a friend, we still have the same problem  my wipers work fine, I just cannot get any fluid to wash the windshield, has anyone had this problem, if so please send me the fix

2003 lx Sebring has the most beautiful rear end of all cars, include gals, like Monroe, Grable and include the robust enormity of Nicole. If Chrysler in 2007 disengages on Sebring's lucious rear end......I will not buy another Chrylers Sebring model. Cars like the 2003 Sebring LX does have a unique sexual DNA. For men..... the rear end is the most important and impressive aspect of artistic form.

Hey all!! I just bought a 2005 Sebring Touring, the first car that is costing more than a couple grand. Scary to say the least. But after reading some reviews I am feeling a little better. :) Anyone here have one of these?

Hey KarenS. Hello I am David in Dallas,Texas. I bought a 2005 Sebring Touring convertible with 21k. It has been the quietest car i have ever owned, with the exception of the slight noise from the vinyl top. Verry comfortable ride. Suede/Leather seats, computer trip monitor, V6-2.7, and i guess the infinity sound system, cuz it sure is "loud". I have taken it to Louisiana, about 720 mile round trip and got about 28.9 mpg. I installed a K&N air filter, and a windblocker. I'm impressed in the solid feel of the transmission shifting. The "hard Brakes on wet highway" was the first for me tho. Kinda scarey. I'm looking for a front strut tower bar to stiffen up the front end flexing when cornering and for reducing the cowl shake. For what have you had to pay "couple grand"? What kind of experiences have you had with your sebring? Have you installed any mods etc? And where are you at in the USA?

Did you try checking under the hood? If you remove the cloth covering under it and check the hose leading from the windshield washer to the jets it may be disconnected.

[1] subtle noise from rear suspension[only in warm weather]
[2] gear shifter problems [only in cold weather]

The dealer has not corrected either one.
    Anyone have a clue?

I just bought a 1999 JXi/maroon, black top, black leather. This thing is mint mint mint. Only 56k. I have been driving it for a month, 2000 miles without the slightest problem or strange noise. I would really like to locate a mechanic specialist for this car north shore of Boston. Also a web site that would have interesting after market products for this car. I love this car so far even though the ride is average at best and poor power from the 2.5 V6.
I got this to have fun. My other car is an MDX and I had a 03 Maxima.

Hello KarenS. I recently purchased a used 2006 Chrysler Sebring Touring Sedan, 27K miles. I did plenty of endless online research to narrow down my future choice of automobile, and was pleased with the reliability ratings given to the 2005 model. I hope this holds true to the 2006 models. I however choked when buying the actual car. I did all this research, but was so excited with the price that I hammered out of the dealer, I bought the car without really checking it over. Two days later I removed the oil cap to find a build-up of oil sludge. This has me worried. I also discovered that the heater went cold at idle, a sure sign of low engine coolant. No overheating had occurred, but I do not the history with the previous owner. I have since properly filled the coolant system which requires carefully opening the bleeder screw atop the engine block and patiently filling the reservoir. I have changed the oil and will do such every 2K for the next 2 oil changes to see if this remedies the sludge issue. I am not sure if the previous owner performed proper maintenance, or if this is an engine design issue. I am also troubled by the 5W-20 oil requirement. That is awfully thin oil to protect an engine. Changing the air filter was a bear also. Otherwise, I love the looks and love the ride. :)
  • jpfjpf Member Posts: 496
The sludge issue is a major problem with the 2.7 liter engine. Chrysler generally does not honor the warranty unless the customer can prove proper maintenance. Unfortunately, you appear to fall into this category. I suggest that you switch to synthetic oil and change the oil very frequently (say 1,000 to 2,000 mile intervals) for the next several oil changes. Hopefully, this will help clear up the sludge problem. Good luck.

Thank you for the advise and quick response. I am new to using these forums. I'm usually the guy the neighbors come to with automotive questions, but this engine with it's strict tolerances is a whole new monster to me.

I have the same problem with my 1999 Sebring JXi. Did you ever find the locaiton of your problem, Jeff? I've checked out the washer motor and it works fine. The water lines are clear. The wipers work fine. I assume my problem must be a break in the wiring between the switch and the pump motor. My dealer charges $80/hour to check wiring and he says it could take up to 4 hours to find the break, and then I would have to pay for replacing the bad section. Is there a common place where the washer wiring has gone bad on other Sebrings, or will I have to check out the entire circuit?

Has anyone installed a front strut tower brace on a Sebring convertible? Supposedly this brace will limit cowl and hood shake when driving over bumpy roads. Also, anyone know where to purchase one that works?
    Thanks

    Hi,

I am a very happy owner of a new Sebring. I would recommend this car to anyone who likes a bit of luxury, fuel economy and good value for the money. The only tiny complaint I have is the design of the front cup holders, but this is very minor compared to the major plusses of this car (and no, I don't work in the auto industry). I plan to own this car a very long time. :):):):D
  • tedebeartedebear Member Posts: 832
Cliff, I also just bought a new Sebring. What don't you like about the cup holders? I found that a 32oz cup fits just fine in mine, unlike my previous Mercury product that I traded in.

I have the 3.5L Limited with lots of goodies. I love to tinker and this car came loaded with plenty of things to tinker with. I usually go out during my lunch hour just to play with the MyGIG system. This car is so cool. I hope I still feel this way about it in 5 years.

Hey guys, I am Aaron and am planning to buy the '07 sedan (most likely the touring). Though almost made up my mind, I am a bit edgey. I went through many websites and forums and I am very confused about the reliability of the vehicle. Also, from what I read it seems the quality of the interiors is not that good compared to a Camry or Accord, for example. I really need some help on this guys
  • cliff11cliff11 Member Posts: 10
It is just that the arm rest extends over one of the cup holders, again, not a big problem - I love the car !
  • cliff11cliff11 Member Posts: 10
The company gives a lifetime powertrain warranty and offers a lifetime "bumper to bumper" warranty that has a money back offer if you do not need to us it, so they seem pretty confident of the quality. The 2007 Sebring was a new redesign from the bottom to the top so a lot of quality concerns about previous Sebrings should not be an issue with the 2007-08 model years. Some people don't like the looks of the interior, but I think it has an elegance about it and seems to be of good quality. I hope this info helps. :):)
  • tedebeartedebear Member Posts: 832
    Aaron,

You've probably already read some of my messages but I bought an '07 Limited 10 days ago. I went with the 3.5L and the 6-speed trans for a little more zip. One reviewer said he's getting 12.5 mpg with his 3.5L but I'm getting 20.5 mpg combined city/highway and they say it gets better after a few thousand miles.

Before buying the Sebring I sat in a Camry. I wasn't impressed. I didn't want to waste anyone's time with a test drive if I didn't even like the interior. I don't think a Camry is all some of the "expert" reviewers claim it is.

I also test drove an AWD 3.0L Fusion. Although it was close in performance to the Sebring I didn't like all the chrome on the front end. Plus, the interior didn't have all the gadgets of the Sebring. The MyGIG system on the Sebring is way cool!

I can't give much of a long-term reliability report after only 10 days but I like that it came with a lifetime powertrain warranty. I owned my previous car 10 years before trading it in on the Sebring and I hope to keep this one around a long time too. I would not have bought it if I didn't expect it to give me years of trouble-free service.

    Color: Hunter Green
    Interior: Camel Leather
    Rag Top: Camel
    2.5L engine
    cruise control
    gold rims (nice looking)
    120,000 miles

I fell in love with it, but has its quirks...I call it the Joker (because it always plays jokes on me).
  • tncarmantncarman Member Posts: 82
Ironically enough, its also Hunter Green, but with a black top, black leather interior, and the gold rims as well. I've had this car since 2001 and its been great to me the whole time I've owned it, and now has 71,000 miles, but I have to sell it soon, and honestly I do not want to. However, my son is about to turn 16 and one of the two cars he wants is a 2000 Chrysler Sebring LXi Coupe, so i shouldn't be TO big of a loss for me if he goes that direction. (I hope he does.)

I have had an inside driver door handle on back order for my 2002 Chrysler Sebring Convertable for 5 months and still cannot get a date for arrival. I have learned that nationwide there are over 186 of these door handles on back order and Customer Care has no idea where they get them from or when they will be available. I assure you that if I get in an accident and cannot get out, my heirs know that they should hire an attorney and hold Chrysler responsible. I have kept a log of all the phone calls with dates and times and names of those spoken to. If Chrysler wants to know why they have financial problems all they need to do is look at how they handle customer service. This is not the first problem I have had with my Sebring....I had to put in a new transmission at 50,000 miles and was told by the mechanic that I should plan on a new one every 50,000 miles. IS THIS ANY WAY TO RUN A COMPANY.

I have contacted Chrysler customer support regarding this 9 months ago and am still waiting. :P They put me on a Priority status. Still no door handle. They keep saying I will have one the following month. Turns out there are over 250 of us who do not have inside drivers door handles and they are back to saying again it will be another month. The local dealer told me that the place that used to manufacture the part went out of business and they are looking for a new manufacturer and I should have the handle next month. This has been going on for 9 months. All I want to do is sell this sucker. I had to replace the transmission at 50,000 miles I am going back to foreign made. At least they stayed together and ran. I have checked junk yards and after market parts companies to no avail. And Chrysler wonders why they are in financial trouble If anyone knows of where to get this handle let me know. It is a 2002 Sebring convertible and I don't care if the handle is not chrome at this point I will take anything. :lemon:

I am trying to find out how to "program" the garage door opener control buttons (built into the driver-side visor).

Did you try a Google search? I found the link below in just a few seconds. If the procedure doesn't work I'll post instructions on how to do it on an 07. It's probably not much different.

I am trying to find out how to "program" the garage door opener control buttons (built into the driver-side visor).

Okay, I was bored this afternoon and so I scanned my owner's manual on how to program the button. This is for an 07 Sebring.

GARAGE DOOR OPENER (HomeLink®) — IF EQUIPPED
The HomeLink® Universal Transceiver replaces up to three remote controls (hand held transmitters) that operate devices such as garage door openers, motorized gates, or home lighting. It triggers these devices at the push of a button. The Universal Transceiver operates off your vehicle's battery and charging system; no batteries are needed.

NOTE: The HomeLink® Universal Transceiver is disabled when the Vehicle Security Alarm is active.

For additional information on HomeLink,® call 1-800-355-3515, or on the Internet at www.homelink.com.

The three buttons for your garage door opener will be located in the driver's sunvisor. The training procedure is the same regardless of the 3-button location.

    Programming The Universal Transceiver (HomeLink®)
NOTE: When programming a garage door opener, it is advised to park outside the garage with the engine off. It is also recommended that you install a new battery in the hand-held transmitter of the device being programmed. This will allow for quicker training and accurate transmission of the radio-frequency signal.

If your garage door opener (located in the garage) is equipped with an antenna, make sure that the antenna is hanging straight down.

    1. Erase the factory test codes by pressing the two outside buttons. Release the buttons when the light in the Universal Transceiver begins to flash (about 20 seconds).

NOTE: Step 1 above does not have to be followed to program additional hand-held transmitters.

    2. Choose one of the three Universal Transceiver buttons to program. Position the end of your hand-held transmitter 1-3 inches (3-8 cm) away from the HomeLink buttons while keeping its indicator light in view.

    3. Simultaneously press and hold the HomeLink button (that you want to train) and the hand-held transmit button. Do not release the buttons until Step 4 is complete.

NOTE: Some gate operators and garage door openers may require you to replace this Programming Step 3 with procedures noted under "Gate Operator/Canadian Programming."

    4. The indicator light in the Universal Transceiver will begin to flash, first slowly and then rapidly. The rapid flashing indicates successful programming. If after 90 seconds the indicator light does not flash rapidly or goes out, return to step 1 and repeat the procedure. To train the other buttons, repeat steps 3 and 4. Be sure to keep your hand-held transmitters in case you need to retrain the Universal Transceiver.

NOTE: To program the remaining two HomeLink buttons, begin with "Programming" Step Two. Do not repeat Step One.

NOTE: If your garage door opener fails to respond to the programmed HomeLink® Universal Transceiver, and your garage door opener is manufactured after 1995, it may have a multiple security code system (rolling code system). If your garage door opener is the "rolling code" type, please proceed to the heading "Programming A Rolling Code System."

    Programming A "Rolling Code" System
On garage door openers with the "Rolling Code" feature, the transmitter code changes after each use to prevent the copying of your code.

NOTE: The assistance of a second person may make the following programming procedure quicker and easier.

    1. Locate the training button on the garage door motor head unit. The exact location and color of the button may vary by garage door opener manufacturer. If you have difficulty in locating the training button, check your garage door opener manual, or call 1-800-355-3515 or, on the Internet, at www.homelink.com.

    2. Press and hold the training button on the garage door opener head unit. This will activate the "training" light.

NOTE: After completing step 2, you have 30 seconds to start step 3.

    3. Return to the Universal Transceiver in the vehicle and firmly press and release the garage door button. Press and release the button a second time to complete the training process. Some garage door openers may require you to do this procedure a third time to complete the training.

    Canadian Programming/Gate Programming
Canadian radio-frequency laws require transmitter signals to "time-out" (or quit) after several seconds of transmission, which may not be long enough for HomeLink to pick up the signal during programming. Similar to this Canadian law, some U.S. gate operators are designed to "time-out" in the same manner.

If you live in Canada or you are having difficulties programming a gate operator by using the "Programming" procedures (regardless of where you live), replace "Programming HomeLink" Step 3 with the following:

    3. Continue to press and hold the HomeLink button while you press and release your hand-held transmitter every two seconds until the frequency signal is accepted successfully by HomeLink. The Universal Transceiver light will flash slowly and then rapidly when the programming is successful. Proceed with "Programming HomeLink" Step 4 to complete the procedure.

NOTE: When programming such a garage door opener or gate, unplug the device to prevent possible damage to the garage door or gate motor.

    Using HomeLink
To operate, simply press and release the programmed HomeLink button. Activation will now occur for the trained device (i.e. garage door opener, gate operator, security system, entry door lock, home/off ice lighting, etc.). The light in the display shows that the signal is being transmitted. For convenience, the hand-held transmitter of the device may also be used at any time.

    Erasing HomeLink Buttons
To erase programming from the three buttons (individual buttons cannot be erased but can be "reprogrammed" -note below), follow the step noted:

Press and hold the two outer HomeLink buttons (for approximately 20 seconds). Release the buttons when the indicator begins to flash rapidly. All three channels will be cleared.

    Reprogramming a Single HomeLink Button
To program a device with a previously trained HomeLink button, follow these steps:

    1. Press and hold the Universal Transceiver button to be reprogrammed. Do not release until step 4 has been completed.

    2. When the indicator light begins to flash slowly (after 20 seconds), position the hand held transmitter one to three inches away from the button to be trained.

    3. Press and hold the hand held transmitter button.

    4. The Universal Transceiver indicator light will begin to flash, first slowly, then rapidly. When the indicator lights begin to flash rapidly, release both buttons.

    Security
If you sell your vehicle, be sure to erase the frequencies by following the "Erasing HomeLink Buttons" instructions.

I agree with you. My 05 Sebring pucked its tranny at 32K miles. It was out of service for a month and a half. After that it was an assortment of various quality issues and numerous trips to the shop. After 14 Chryslers - this is my last one. A friend of mine at work bought a 07 Sebring for his daughter - they're now trying to lemon-law it.

I have a 2002 chrysler sebring 2.7L v6. I cannot get to the back 3 spark plugs to change them out and cannot get to the air filter...Can someone guide me in how to do these tasks please?
  • richard7985richard7985 Member Posts: 5
My Sebring is a '99 so this might not help, but I had my spark plugs changed at 100,000 miles and the mechanic could only reach the rear set from UNDER the car. He cursed all the time he was changing those plugs, so I could see that it was not an easy job. As for the air filter, on the '99s it is right up front, so they must have moved it on the '02s.

My Sebring, by the way, is one of the best Chryslers I've ever owned - and I bought my first Chrysler product in 1962 - and I have four of them in my carport right now, from a '57 through an '05 and I have no complaints about any of them.

    Hi KarenS
I do not know if you are still working there .,because your message is dated 2001
I am new here I bought a brand new sebring 2007 on December last year one of the reason was it had a discount because the year was almost over and they wanted to sell all 07 vehicles, so any way after a month I bought it I started felling when you put the brakes on when you are coming to a stop, it push is it self or pull it self to the front , like one of the member here describe it a shimmy, vibration or pulse.
I already took it to the dealer and they " did not find anything wrong " but it still
keeps doing it and I think even a little harder and I only have three months with this car!!
Do you know anything about this or anyone else with the same problem?
thank you in advance for your attention to this matter
    Regards

I have recently passed the 20,000. mark on my 07 Sebring with no major problems (I did have to replace a light bulb). The mileage just keeps improving as the engine gets broken in (averaging 40 mpg on long trips), and the car still feels like brand new!. This is my 11th new vehicle and is by far my favorite in quality, luxury. and reliability. This is my first Chrysler and I wonder why I waited to long to own one.

Not a chance! Sounds like your friend has been watching too many episodes of "Two and a Half Men". I've had my '99 convertible since it was 6 months old and it attracts attention from both men and women. The president of our home owners association practically drools everytime I drive it to meetings. It's been a fantastic car and the only trouble I've ever had with it is a catalytic converter that failed (I got some bad gas somewhere along the way) and the A/C compressor self-destructed last summer, but those were not major problems, in my opinion. And Chrysler paid every penny of the cost to replace the converter. On top of that, the car still gets 32 MPG on the highway and even the top, leather, body, etc. are still in perfect condition. Not bad for a car that's almost 10 years old.
