Thanks for reply racoon. Would you know where to get this DRL kit?

I'm sorry, I don't have them on my '99 CR-V and have never considered adding them.

I'd start with a Google search. Good luck.

I just recently bought a 05 CRV and the dealer here in Va told us that the cost of extra key were around $80 a piece hope that puts some light on the topic for you.

I am planning to install the fog lamp kit in my 2003 LX. Here is a kit at 1/3 the normal price. With the exception of the carbon fiber look, does anyone know if these kits are problematic?
I know the install instructions are readily available for downloading.

We recently bought a CRV for my wife. Mileage is great and its much more refined than the Saturn Vue we'd been considering. The downside is the seats are HARD. Has anyone found a seat cover , cushion or combination of the two that will soften the seats for folks whose backsides prefer a little more padding?

    Hi there,
I have a 02 CRV, only problem areas to me are the small tires and the drivers seat bottoms no problem with seats being hard they are supportive but the bottom
cushion is not supporting enough so it feels like that I'm sliding off of it,any one knows or have done anything to the drivers seat as far as being able to adjust the very edge of drivers seat cushion either mechanical or electric? How about tires can you tell me please what other size tires can be used on it's stock steel wheels ie, 215 70/15 this is mainly to enhance the look of CRV and nothing more,it's standard tires are 205 70/15, thanks in advance.

I want to replace the steel wheels on my 05 LX 4wd.
What I know of the stock CRV alloy wheels are:
    16" x 6.5 , 5 lugs.
Browsing on ebay I find different bolt patterns.
My question is what rims can I mount using the
    same stock tires I have.
What other specs should I be looking for?
    bolt patterns?

Stop by an auto parts store and see what they have and kind of eye if it would fit into the fender. Stock antenna is not powered, so I am not sure how much room there is in the fender for it, but you can certainly take a look and see for your self. I don't think anyone has done it, but it gave me an idea to try.

As far as e-mailing it to you. Come here and check the answers. Someone else, later on, may have the same question and the posted answer will benefit them.

I have a 2005 EX model. My CRV came with the factory tint in the back windows
I wanted my front windows tinted as well (Sunny California !!). The closest tint I found that matched the back windows was 3M Tintscotch (20%). The tint came with lifetime warranty
3M don’t use dye in their films so it won’t purple or bubble with time. Plus, it is not
metallic so it wont interfere with the reception of the radio or the XM reception.

I want to get my fronts tinted as well.

How in the world does tint interfiere with FM or XM reception? FM antenna is outside on the fender, and the XM antenna is on the top of the roof. Sounds like somebody got sold.
  • sal9sal9 Member Posts: 4
Metallic tints acts a magnet for both radio and satellite signals which create a distortion in the waves field. The result, weak or distorted signal. I had my front windows tinted with metallic tint the first time and did not receive any FM signal (Only AM). The XM signal was also distorted. When I tinted with 3M (non metallic)
both radio and satellite signals were crystal clear. Please do not make assumptions before you know the whole story. Thanks

Does anyone have the "saddle" colored cargo cover for a CRV with the ivory interior? The website (H&A) states that is compliments but does not match the ivory interior. I was wondering what your experience is.

    Thanks.

The antennas for both are outside of the vehicle!!!! Unless you had one of those plug and play XM receivers and a Ghetto Blaster for a radio.

By the way, AM antenna is inside the radio. So, logically, metalic tint WOULD affect the AM.
  • sal9sal9 Member Posts: 4
I do not have a " ghetto" radio, not there is anything wrong with your background.
here is a quote from another user who has the same problem
''Metallic window tint will severely affect AM radio reception and GPS navigation systems, especially if you tint the back window. If you have metallic tint there, you probably need to have it removed and replaced with a non-metallic tint (if you still want it tinted)."
I called honda and they said to install non mettalic tint because of reasons I mentioned before. I do not see why would they lie to me.
If you are so smart and '''logical'' why dont you install the mettalic tint and let me
    know how it goes

It would only apply to Accord or another vehicle with the antenna integrated in the window. CR-V DOES NOT have integrated antenna.

If you believe everything you hear without tyring to make your own conclusions/desisions, I have a bridge to sell you. It is in a nice condition, connects Brooklyn and Manhattan. It is about 125 years old, and was built by a great engineer of his time, Roebling, and finished by his wife. You can put a up a toll booth and recover the initial investment in a couple of years. Interested?

I don't have the need to hide behind dark tint. I am not doing anyting I am not supposed to be doing in my vehicle.

Sorry, I haven't been keeping up with this forum.

To the poster who was interested in a swinging cargo basket.... You may have *some* trouble. The CR-V's tongue weight is the limiting factor. An ordinary cargo basket (like the one I own) weighs about 45-55 lbs. The tongue weight for my 1999 CR-V was 110 lbs. Which meant I had 55-65 lbs of cargo capacity if I played by the rules.

The 2nd generation CR-V has a tongue weight of about 150 lbs (check your manual, it might be 10-15 lbs more). That's all fine and dandy. But the only swing-style cargo baskets I've seen are for full-size vehicles. They are very heavy. Thanks to the extra hardware. If I had to guess, I'd say they weigh closer to 100 lbs.

That still leaves you with a good 55-65 lbs or so, but it's not the most efficient use of the utility, IMO.

Dude, I am so sorry about missing this one!!

I just dumped a DLR conversion kit for the 1st gen CR-V. :surprise: I never installed it and no one has been looking for one in years. So, when I traded in the CR-V for my new MDX, I just left it in the back of the V.

Call Clair Acura of Norwood. Ask them about a 1999 CR-V 5MT that was just traded in last week. The DRL kit was in the cargo area in a small cardboard box. Who knows... they might still have it and be willing to ship it to you.
  • sal9sal9 Member Posts: 4
    You are funny!
It is very simple. I installed metallic tint, got very bad reception on the radio and factory XM. Called Honda, told me to switch to non metallic, I did, the problem was solved!! That’s it! You started talking about bridges and tunnels and went on and on.
You’ve got too much free time on your hands.

I just bought a triple power outlet adapter at Radioshack which I plan on mounting under the passenger side dash. It gives the options of plugging it into the existing power outlet or splicing into an existing power source.

Any suggestions as to a power wire which is in the area of the passenger side footwell that would be good to use?

    Thanks!

I could not remember where you had posted this question
The Saddle colored Cargo Cover is the same color as the dash board (a brown in my 06 Sahara EX) I think the dashboard and cargo cover work well with the lighter
"Ivory/beige" color of the cloth seat covers (and I bet the leather as well).

But heres a thought, the ivory is so light it's going to show stains very easy, so you are going to want some covers (I'd be really happy if I could find a reasonably priced Tan/ivory pair of Neoprene ones) My point is
the saddle cargo cover works fairly well with the standard ivory but ithe limited colors of added seat covers may not.

The cargo cover is very easy to install, works very well
and is suprisingly versatile. A little expensive but a good purchase.

My new CR-V, with only 2600 KM displayed an engine warning light, dealer said that the o2 sensor was the problem as the OBD showed PO135, on replacing the o2 sensor, the OBD now shows PO1157, can someone pls explain what this means as the mechanics have gone into a huddle

i have a 99 crv and i was wondering if neone else experienced problems wit the windows... it goes up n down slow... seems like its being held back by the run channels ... it got so bad that one of my window motors blew.. and a friend of mine told me that hondas tend to do that... i wanna know if anyone else had this problem at one point and if so did they have to change the run channels?
  • theracoontheracoon Member Posts: 666

You don't have to replace the channels. You do need to lubricate them occasionally. Lightly spray some silicon spray lubricant on the channels with the windows down. Use just a little bit, you definitely don't want the channels to be soaking wet. Then run the windows up and down a couple of times.

    Good luck.

I have a 2003 CRV EX which does not exhibit PTTR - however, I bought this vehicle used and therefore do not know if the TSB solutions have been applied. I have two questions:

Has anyone "created" a PTTR condition by changing to a wider (65 or 60 series) tire?

Could a routine front end alignment at a non-Honda dealer undo the PTTR fix in the Honda TSB?
  • hslxsmdhslxsmd Member Posts: 5
i have tried lubricating it but it dries out after a day or so... and the windows are slow or get stuck once again... a specialist told me that honda 91-01 is known for having bad windows because of the plastic clips that hold the window and the run channels tend to give out after a few years...
  • theracoontheracoon Member Posts: 666
    I haven't had any problems with my 1999 CR-V.

And yes, if you spray silicon lubricant on the channels it will dry out eventually. But that doesn't mean it's stopped lubricating.

i just bought my new CRV SE 06 its great in all things except my back is killing me from the seat.
i cant even drive for 5 min without having alot of pain , i have a sensitive back but i have been in alot of cars never had this problem before.
i think the problem is the hug bulge that is suppose to be a lumbar support anyone know a solution.
i tryed those back support cushions but i am looking for something realy good anyone know a good website or store in newyork around staten island :confuse:
  • varmintvarmint Member Posts: 6,326
    Are you sitting up straight?

Not kidding or being sarcastic. The CR-V's seats are positioned in the cockpit more like a dining room chair, than a lounge chair. Try sitting (nearly) bolt upright with the seat back adjusted to meet your back.

If you try to ride with the seats leaning way back, you'll suffer for it.

    Hey

How can I make my front end suspension robust ???

I do lots of back country & off road driving and I keep getting this strange clunk noise on the front right side every time I get a small path hole... This is my first V, use to drive an F150 4X4 and I only heard that when I got the front wheels off the grownd, it's like the shock absorver is traveling its full travel...

Can this be solved by installing different shocks or do I need to change the torsion bars ???

    hi there,
I have a quick question,Can anyone help me with oversizing the stock tires? ie;from 205/70-15 to 205/75-15 or
215/70-15.All I want to do is to make the tires look a little bigger and car to look nicer.Has anybody done any modification of this kind?Would love to see pictures.

I wonder why people are not talking a lot about the left foot rest, which is extremely uncomfortable, I simply cannot find a comfortable position to place my left foot. Anybody has similar problem? What do you guys do about it?
  • mafernamaferna Member Posts: 83
This is the ONLY thing I did not check during the test drive. I also feel it is uncomfortable, since there is not foot rest at all. What I did is lift the steering wheel a bit, and then lay my foot flat on the floor. I am not tall, though, 5'7'', so it might not work for you. As far as any aftermarket solution, if you find something, let me know. This is actually my only complaint about the CR-V.

Get a Ford F-150. CR-V is not a truck. It is a car with lifted suspension and AWD added on. At the end of the day, it is just a Civic. It is capable of alot of things, but rock crawling and serious off-roading is not one of them.

I got a crv EX 04 and already made some modification on it cause I just think there's a need to do it for some reasons. First is the Look and handling as long as you're within the standards then you're fine. I put up a nice veloche spike rems on a 225/45 18 nitto super extreme tires. Cornering is good, maybe a little bet bumpy ride but thats what it is when you got a low profile tires. Try to ask the tire expert from the tire dealer, the last time they told me that I can use as much as 20 but that's too much for a medium size suv... God luck! :)
  • amocrvamocrv Member Posts: 6
Thanks for the response and the advise, but I am looking for more cushion beside the looks(larger tires)and I'll
    talk to a tire dealer.

Can anyone recommend a good locking tire cover? I am looking to get one for my sister-in-law who has a 2005 CR-V, but the only one I can find online is a TireSafe. Does anyone have an opinions on this?

Also, is the spare the same size as the stock tires? I want to make sure I order the correct size. If someone can post the correct size here that would be great. I don't want to ask her because it's supposed to be a surprise :)

    Thanks!!
  • varmintvarmint Member Posts: 6,326
The tire size is 215/65R16. And the spare is the same as the rest of the tires. Even gets an alloy rim for the EX and SE models. :D

Thanks.... I'll keep that in mind !!! :)

But even on the streets I get that clunk... I like the way the V feels when driving it, but that noise is the one getting me nervous.... I'll have it check when the 5000 km service is due...

    thanks

    Hello

Is it possible to install armrests in an 06 manual trans EX. I've felt for the anchor on the side of the seat -present on the passenger side - can't seem to find it on the Drivers side?

    Please respond directly to

    ctfisherlamar.colostate.edu

    Thanks in advance

    Chris

JJ products has one for sale. I tried the storage armrest and it interfiered with shifting. My last car, 2002 Civic Si, didn't have one either. I got used to not leaning on the armrest when driving, but keeping both of my hands on the steering wheel (just like they teach you at the auto school) :-)

XM Ready means that you can buy a tuner for $400 and get it working. There is no antenna nor tuner installed from the factory.
  • sockpuppet1969sockpuppet1969 Member Posts: 308
My '06 SE comes with the XM antenna factory installed. Too bad I have Serius and it is not compatible.

Does anyone know if an adapter is available that will allow you to use an XM antenna with a Serius head unit?
