Sometimes there will be what's called a "bonus car" where the dealer decides to take a loss on one specific vehicle (in this case, yours) in order to receive a larger bonus for hitting monthly sales goals.

Or, they might be willing to sell you an Altima at a loss in order to get an allocation of a more popular, profitable model; maybe a higher end Altima, or an additional GT-R. I know Honda dealers in the past would typically let Accords and Civics go at losses in order to get more allocations of Odyssey minivans, because Honda forced them to take x number of Accords and y number of Civics in exchange for 1 Odyssey.

Typically the bonus situation will occur as you get to the end of the month, while the 2nd situation can occur anytime.

Does this price sound fair? A 2009 Altima Coupe (automatic transmission with 1000 miles) lists $19,000.

How does the price of $22173 sounds for 2009 SL wih connection package. This includes 500 college grad and 1500 cash back

I received a quote for an '09 Altima 2.5 (this is the one without the radio) for $15,990. With 7.75% sales tax and dealer fees, the out-the-door price is around $17,700. This is including the current $2,500 incentives.

What do you guys think? Also, what are peoples' thoughts on the 2.5 vs. the 2.5S? The radio isn't a huge deal for me....the 2.5 still has air conditioning, auto CVT trans, power everything, etc. Not sure what else I'm missing out on vs. thw 2.5S though.
  • thefockerthefocker Member Posts: 1
I got a 2.5 S including the convenience, convenience plus and the connection package + kick plates out the door for 22910 (including tax,8.75% and everything). the MSRP was 26k+. how is it? I also got the karr alarm for additional 399$.
the 22910 was the best price I found in almost 15 dealerships around my area in southern California. the next best price was almost 800$ more than this.
  • jimmycornjimmycorn Member Posts: 3
Hey Focker, want to share the dealer name? I'm looking right now in so. cal. have checked about 6 dealers. Your deal is awesome!

    '09 altima 2.5s
    conv. package
    conv.+ package
    SL package
    qouted for $25,500
lease qoute is $269 a month for 39 months with $2500 down

i played 3 dealers against each other, started at $309 a month and 4 days later i'm at $269 a month.

i see people posting that they got the $1500 rebate on there lease. on the nissan website it says that the rebates cant be used toward the lease, so how did you guys do it?

This price is from central jersey and cant seem to get better, but i'm gonna wait till thursday before i go to the dealership.

I just bought 2009 Altima 2.5 SL sedan

    convenience package
    convenience plus package
    SL package
    rear spoiler
    fog lights
    technology package
    wheel locks
    moonroof wind defector
tinted rear window and rear doors

    MSRP 30,075

bought for 24,979 after $2500 incentive

how does it sound? like a good deal?
  • queeniegqueenieg Member Posts: 2
Is it OTD price? If is, it is a good price. SInce I will try to get the SL package for OTD price for 21k. This include 500, 1500 and 1000 incentives. Today I got the quoto for convenience package only for OTD 20.7K and I asked for a free upgrade to the SL model in the email (I really don't want to piss off the manager on site).
I will see what I can get on Monday and keep in touch!
  • queeniegqueenieg Member Posts: 2
How much do the tinted rear window and rear doors, and wheel locks? I can't find these options. Sounds like a good price.
  • wenterwenter Member Posts: 2
Wheel locks are about $45. The car was from a showroom (sitting inside the building) so they tinted windows - i did not have to pay for it

Snagged an '09 Altima 2.5 for $15,990. Out the door near Cleveland, it came to $17,717. This was an advertised special in the paper....only one in stock. White color....not my favorite, but I can't complain for over $2k less than the 2.5S.
  • aks_houstonaks_houston Member Posts: 2
I am in Houston area and got quoted 23,500 +TTL after 1,000 cash rebate+2.9%APR 60 mo. for 2.5SL+convenience+convenience plus.

Can you tell me if its a good deal or I can do a lot better?
  • madpistolmadpistol Member Posts: 126
I think you can do a little better. That should be about what you pay for a 2.5SL w/ Connection pkg. Try and get it for $23k + TTL. That should be a pretty good deal.
  • aks_houstonaks_houston Member Posts: 2
    thanks madpistol

after playing with 3 dealers in the area, I am gona buy 2009 2.5SL after 1000 cash bonus+500 grad rebate+ttl = 24,000 out the door. :shades:

Anyone heard any grumblings about May 2009 Rebates?
I am guessing they are going up... a bunch.

I reviewed the sales of the Maxima and Altima since August. The numbers look horrible regardless of what the dealers are telling us. Year over year sales:

    Maxima
    AUG 08 +15%
    SEPT -19.1%
    OCT +33%
    NOV -37.2%
    DEC -16%
    JAN 09 -30.3%
    FEB -38.4%
    MAR -26.4%

    Altima
    AUG 08 -.5%
    SEPT -42.4
    OCT -18.5%
    NOV -45.3%
    DEC -31.2%
    JAN 09 -34.7%
    FEB -31.5%
    MAR -37.8%

I am interested to see April's numbers that should be release next Monday.
  • txcarbuyer2txcarbuyer2 Member Posts: 7
Anyone know about May incentives/rebates? I would think with low sales figures quoted on this board and new models coming, that Nissan would be boosting incentives to get rid of 2009 models. After a glance at the incentives page, this doesn't seem to be the case for May. Looking to purchase the end of this month in Houston.
  • txcarbuyer2txcarbuyer2 Member Posts: 7
Thanks for the response. Are the incentives not posted until later in the month? When I checked this morning, the only incentive for the altima was $1,000 cash for those who had previously leased. Like you with the dismal sales figures you posted, I would think the incentives would be better. Where are these sales numbers coming from? Thanks for posting them!
  • tmikebtmikeb Member Posts: 18
I google 'nissan sales february 2009' or whatever month I want to see. Here is one result:

    http://news.prnewswire.com/DisplayReleaseContent.aspx?ACCT=ind_focus.story&STORY- - - - - - - =/www/story/03-03-2009/0004982287&EDATE=

Some have each model like the link above does. Auto Channel usually only has an overall summary and nothing to specific.

Nearly all rebates expired at the end of April. May rebates should be released by 3pm central time according to a dealer I spoke to. They are anticipating larger rebates too.

APRIL 2009 sales numbers Year over Year

Maxima +62.7% - nice recovery, but still -17% for the year which has to be a huge disappointment in the first year of a model overhaul.
Altima -46.9% and -37.7% for the year. I am thinking some big rebates are coming on Altima's.

    OK folks,

Last Thursday (April 30) I bought a 2008 Altima 3.5 SE that was still new on the lot. Precision Gray, 276 miles on the odometer. Here are the details...

    MSRP - 27,700
    List - 21,995
    Rebate - 1,000
    Trade-In - 500 (1997 Ford Escort w/186k miles)
    Final Price - 20,495
    TTL - 1510.53

    Financed - $22,005.53

Thoughts, comments, :confuse: I was happy with the deal.

Also, will I get any tax advantage for turning a 1997 Escort?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I was quoted 19,000 for a 2009 Altima 2.5 S with Convinience Package. This is in NJ. Does anybody know if this the best deal or if i can get a better deal at a different dealership?

    Thanks.

Hi...I'm new to this! Here's my problem....out the door price on the altima is 20,316.00 - is it any good. Now I found out that the 2.5 sedan doen't have stereo or such....should I go for the 2.5s because that a standard. how about the price- can I do better....or just wait until July! Help....
  • vortix1vortix1 Member Posts: 22
lookn4altima: I got my 2.5 for $17,717 out the door in April ($15,990 before taxes, fees, etc). At the time there was $2,500 cash back (I believe it's less now). Tax where I live is 7.75%, and I was taxed on the amount BEFORE the Nissan cash back. Dealership also charged a $250 doc fee.

My advice: wait till Nissan offers more cash back on the Altima again. It WILL happen...maybe later this month? Also, e-mail local dealer Internet departments and ask them for their BEST price. Check the paper for advertised deals.

Are you paying cash or financing? That will play into how much cash back you can get as well. I paid cash.

The 2.5 is full featured - even comes with the intelligent key w/ keyless entry, etc., air conditioning, ABS. Just doesn't have a radio...though you can get the factory one on eBay for $100 and plug it right in! The car does have speakers in the doors already.

    Good luck!

    Hello All,

Looking to purchase the 2.5S '09 Coupe this weekend and my lowest price thus far is $22.5k + taxes+DMV fees. Includes Premium and Convienence Packages, mats and kickplates.

Looking for some input if this is a good deal or not.

    Thanks in advance.

took a couple of days of work but finally bought a 2.5 altima yesterday here in oregon....where we do not have to pay sales tax......and i ended up paying 16,900 after the $1,500 rebate and locked in at 4.99% interest. I think I got a good deal, and yes i will have to get a stereo installed..............soon!
  • birddoginbirddogin Member Posts: 2
I just posted my purchase of the 2.5 @ $16,900. They tried to up sell me to the 2.5S with premium and convienence pkg for $19,000 and i thought about it but they wouldn't go to $18,000 and i didn't care about the seat pockets electric drivers seat, stupid door lock feature etc..... saved $2,100 and will have to pay to install a stereo couple hundred dollars or $500 from the dealership
  • warriors8402warriors8402 Member Posts: 3
Thanks for the reply. 19k for premium?? not a bad deal at all. Where are you located? I'm in NY and I'm still stuck at 22.5k. They won't budge.

Sorry that I can't be of any help-I just started negotiating for an Altima Coupe $28,220 MSRP. So far I have them down to $24,112-just started. I am looking for a comparable price to get them down. Can you tell me what the MSRP was of the coupe on which you received the quote?

Best price that I have seen was at Fitzmall about a month ago-they sold out of Coupe, I believe it about $23-23.5. Considering that the incentives haven't changed much-I think you have a solid deal.
  • warriors8402warriors8402 Member Posts: 3
Thanks for the input..MSRP is $28,070, but since they are throwing in mats, kick-plates and I believe they mentioned fog lights.. the total MSRP is $28,640. Just tried another dealer and was quoted $24.6k. $23 - 25k seems to be the range, but I just want to double check and ask around especially hearing the $19k deal above if its true. I didn't close the deal yet, so please keep me updated as you get quotes.

I have two cars to choose let me know what you think of this price or how much more negotiating can be done. These prices are OTD including all (rebates, cash back, tax, tag, title, fees).
    Car 1: $22,625
Silver - 2.5SL Sedan, Auto, SL Pckg, Conv Pckg, Conv Plus Pckg, Splash Gaurds, All Mats.

    Car 2:$23,803
Blue - 2.5SL Sedan, Auto, SL Pckg, Conv Pckg, Conv Plus Pckg, Splash Gaurds, All Mats, Connection Pckg
    .

    Your input is appreciated!
  • cafe1cafe1 Member Posts: 4
Ricky, could you please break down the OTD price that you are listing as some fees (document, tag, title) and taxes vary according to locale. I started yesterday and was given $22200 cost (plus document, tax, tag fees) for your option 1 and thought I could do better (in OH). Thanks as it will help us all looking for similar options.
  • rickyd1974rickyd1974 Member Posts: 10
The original quote I got was for: $20,283 & $21,395 as net price. I countered with $19,000 & $20,500 OTD (cash deal). They came back with what I have originally posted as the OTD price, They apparently didn't understand what OTD means in the 1st quote request when I asked, so I am presuming if you do the math the tax (6.5% here), tag, title, fees is the difference between the original quote and what I had originally posted in the breakdown. However; I'm waiting for the dealer to respond back with that information, once I get it I sure will. I have yet to walk into a dealer and negotiate yet, so maybe I can get 500 - 800 maybe a little more off. I hope!

According to TMW after incentives Car 1 should be $22,800 (plus TTL & Fees); Car 2 should be $23,875 (plus TTL & Fees).
  • rickyd1974rickyd1974 Member Posts: 10
The dealer provided this to me..I don't think they can add correctly b/c not only is the price now $100 more per there breakdown but it doesn't come near the original net price they gave me. Let me know if you see something that I don't. I have asked for an explanation..let's see what they say.

    PRICE 22795.00 21683.00
    ADMIN CHARGE 699.95 SAME
    TAG AND CHARGES 246.50 SAME
    TAX 1461.53 1394.81

    REBATE (1500) (1500)

    TOTAL 23,802.98 22624.26
  • cafe1cafe1 Member Posts: 4
Ricky, I did not get an itemized "administration" fee in my quote for your first option. So if you add the initial quote of $20,283 + $700 admin= $20,983. then add all the usual fees we need to pay (document, tax, title). If you can get it for $20,983 before the other usual fees that sure beats my quote of $22,200 by $1270. I'll use your info to see if I can beat down my local dealer a little more.
  • rickyd1974rickyd1974 Member Posts: 10
I'm not sure if the dealer is playing ga,es or what. I can't get a straight answer b/c they say the brakdown quote and the original quote they gave me are pennies apart. My mathe shows an $1K difference. Almost as if they are playing some kind of switch and bait game here.

Local dealer has a memory day sale. All Altima has $5500+$500 college grad discount.
    2.5 MSRP $20,620
    prince: 14620
    dealer fee: $499
paint strip & under coating: $200?
    +TTL

Look like a crazy price. I am not familiar with Altima. Does the car have any reliability issue?
  • cafe1cafe1 Member Posts: 4
Just be careful when you go to purchase their "memory" may not be so good and will forget about the $5500 discount. Price seems extrodinarily low, might be a demo.
  • shroudshroud Member Posts: 78
I just bought an 09 2.5 SL sedan (leather, convenience) with Nismo package (all those skirts and spoilers) for 29.9 Canadian pre-tax and pre-fees (fees were 400 total). Seemed pretty good. The original price for the 2.5 SL was 27,600 before tax but I opted for the Nismo which is a couple grand upgrade but I like how it looks.

I bought via the internet manager at Sherwood Park Nissan (Alberta) - so far the process has been quite pleasant. I take delivery Monday.

First of all let me say that I have been leasing vechicles for 10 years. Previously, I had only leased Honda-Toyota. My last lease was for a 2006 altima. In all my previous leases for my wife, myself and my two kids... About 8-9 in total I have never had to pay an excess fee for wear and tear. Yes the cars get door dings.. But I had never been charged by Honda or Toyota. So,,,, I get my Altima checked out Today and guess what... they want $669 for door dings and a small scratch on the bumper. I have never been charged for the exact same things by Honda or Toyota. It may be the downturn in the auto industry... But what a rip off. And guess what... if you get another Nissan they will wave $500 of any previous excess wear and tear charges... So is this a sales gimick? or what? Either way I wont be held captive by Nissan. Will do my best to return the kick in the [non-permissible content removed]... Please beware of Nissans leasing policys... go with Toyota or Honda on similar models. I have found the cars are very similar... Will return car next week and post results. If they wave the fees I will buy an new Altima with all the new incentives. I have heard the sales figures for April were terrible on the Altima. But Beware of Nissan Leasing practices..
  • fkernellfkernell Member Posts: 1
According to this link, the average Nissan Altima buyer got 13% discount off MSRP. But the most recent transactions show a discount of nearly 20% off MSRP

    http://www.realcartips.com/2009-Nissan-Altima-Prices
  • gatlingatlin Member Posts: 2
Actually the discount applys to all Altimas on the lot. Here is the breakdown for me.

    2009 Nissan Altima 2.5
    CVT automatic transmission
    Radiant Silver ext/ Frost int
    MSRP: $20,620
    Rebate: $1,500
    SALE: $15,120
    Dlr Fee: $ 499.50
    Undercoat,Pin Stripes: $ 185.50
    Waste Tire/Battery: $ 6.50
    CVR Tag Fee: $ 24
Taxable Amount: $17,335.50 (sale price + rebate + $715.50 total fees)
    Tax (6%): $ 1,040.13
New Tag (est.): $ 202 (or est. $102 to transfer an existing tag)
TOTAL: $17,077.63 (or $100 less if you have an existing tag to transfer)
  • shroudshroud Member Posts: 78
Yeah I think without the Nismo package I was around 12% off MSRP. Not sure if Canada and USA are seeing different "severity" of dealer desperation to sell :)
  • og4lifeog4life Member Posts: 25
Does anyone know if Nissan recently increased their rebate from $1,500? Our local dealer's website states they will sell any altima at $2,500 under true invoice. I havent spoke with anyone at the dealership but that offer appears like a very good starting point, especially if the incentive remained at $1,500.
  • stkntrafficstkntraffic Member Posts: 172
I had a similar experience returning a leased Maxima. I took about 35 pictures of the car before I turned it in. I later got a bill from them for $5-600 in excess wear and tear. I just called them up and they waived the charges. I think they automatically stick this on every returned car in the hopes that some people will pay it. I had documentation but didn't have to use it.

About to buy a Nissan Altima 2.5 s with convience + package, mats and mud flaps for 21900 OTD. Is that a good deal or can I get better?
  • og4lifeog4life Member Posts: 25
In my opinion you could do a lot better (at least 1,000). Local dealer here offered $2,500 below invoice on their webpage. I think Nissan might have added another 1,000 incentive for the holidays but do not know if they will continue it tomorrow. (According to a salesman I talked too)
