I am in the process of buying a 2010 BMW 328XI and I am trying to debate whether I should lease or finance the car. the final selling price of the car is 35990. the lease is working out to be 545 per month, with a 2000 dollar down payment (which includes - 1st month payment, tag and title).
It would be great if i could get some response from other BMW buyers in the North East Region.

do you guys think the 2010 BMW 328XI with the Premium package at 35990 is a good deal. The only thing I did not choose is Navigation system in the car.

thanks in advance for everyone's response

I am buying the car in the Northern Virginia area... please let me know if anyone was able to get any additional discounts, since the spring 2500 credit is not available anymore
  • tumdtumd Member Posts: 12
I think your lease deal is too expensive. With a final sales price of 35990, one would expect a lease price of mid 400 (36mo/10k). I got a quote on a 2010 335i for
    MSRP- $50,600
    Invoice- $47,393
Your price- $43,643 + tax and license
and lease for "A 3-year/10k lease with$2230 total drive-off is $570.57 including tax"
I would shop around some more.

Never lease a car in Virginia before, but I think they tag on some usage tax on top of your monthly payment, hence the price. I'm not 100% sure though.

This car has 36k miles on it, Nav and xenon that's about it. Anyone knows any website that would price this car? What should I offer the dealer? Thanks
  • sbdudesbdude Member Posts: 3
I am in Southern California and looking at a car with the following specs, at a negotiated price of 24,000 (4000 below dealer's sticker) +Tax/fees:

    Black 2008 328i with:
    Sport
    Leather
    Navigation
    Xenon
    Around 40,000 miles

I'm also planning to pay for the Maintenance program upgrade (~2000 $). Does this deal sound any good? I'm looking for some quick advice as I need to get back to the dealership soon.

Two weeks ago I purchased a Certified Pre Owned with premium pkg with 14k on the odometer. I paid close to the price your planning to pay. Is there another CPO with less mileage?
  • sbdudesbdude Member Posts: 3
Unfortunately, there isn't.. was yours a 2008 too? I am looking for that specific combination with Sport and Nav and seems like it is a little rare. Which state was your vehicle bought in?

I am getting an offer to lease a 2010 BMW 328XI with premium package. 12K lease with $2000 down for $ 545 per month.

The price for the car is coming to be 35990. What do you think. Should I lease/finance a little confused.

    Thanks

Yes it's a 2008. Bimmer was purchased at BMW of Palm Springs in CA. It's a large dealership and they have a large inventory of lease returns. 40k is a little high for an 2008...more leverage for you in negotiating a lower price. Good luck!
  • sbdudesbdude Member Posts: 3
thanks for your response. that's the only car I have found with both packages on it and alum. trim.. I did try to leverage all i could and ended up saving another 500 bucks. :)
  • dandydoniidandydonii Member Posts: 45
think you should skip the 08 and find an 07 with less miles that should cost you less and will include the extra two years of maintenance. Frankly, with 40000 miles, that car only has one more year, if that, with the original warranty, kind of defeats the purpose of buying an 08.
  • justdrive101justdrive101 Member Posts: 2
You might have saved me lot of money, I was about to sign a deal with MSRP of 40600 for 1750 down ,36 month 12K for 569.

Can you please send me the details of the dealer.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

    I've been here before.

    Here's the news:

I took delivery today of my new (!) 2011 335i xDrive.

    Right from the window sticker:

    Tasman Green Metallic
    Oyster/Black Dakota Leather
    Cold Weather Package
    Premium Package
    Sport Package
    All-Wheel Drive (Duh!)
    Heated Steering Wheel
Park Distance Control (front & rear)
Satellite Radio (So far, every channel is the Sirius channel, and is really annoying. I'll figure this out.)
    Harman Kardon Surround Stereo

    Now for the details:

Transmission (6 MT - MANDATORY!!!!!) is melted butter smooth.
Engine (N55? I can't remember if the new one is N54 or N55). Smooth for having 4 miles on the odometer. I haven't really nailed it yet, but the power curve seems to be very smooth and continuous. Someone had posted some time back that the new engine is quieter than the previous version. I say that, once climbing past 3,000 RPM, this engine emits a growl much better defined AND enjoyed than before.

    Comfort? Definitely.

    The really bad news?

BMW has gone overboard with being socially conscious to the point of being really blind to current culture, buying habits and technological power requirements.

In their apparent attempt to be socially conscious, they removed the ashtray with the "flippable" cover that released every single time you dusted the Dark Burl Walnut trim. Kudos to BMW for removing the "ashtray" but I'd really like to know who the total moron was who endorsed the removal of THE POWER OUTLET THAT SUPPLIED JUICE TO OUR RADAR DETECTORS, (in my case Garman), and anything else that required power (defibrillator?). I can only conclude that this is a monumentally stupid decision that no one, anywhere in BMW, realized is really going to piss off BMW customers. GPS, radar, iPod, etc units are everywhere. How did BMW think they were going to be powered? If I'd known, I'd have had serious second thoughts about my purchase.

I spent big money on a Y-joint to get my Garmin and Escort 9500ix to be powered by my $51.000 car.

If they don't fix this, free, I will shop Audi from now on.

    One more really aggravating issue:

The Finance guy ran the Purchase & Sale Agreement at MSRP in spite of the GM writing the deal up at Invoice minus $1840 Option Credit plus &750 profit. When I told him this was wrong, he admitted "Oops, my mistake". Either the guy is incompetent or a cheat. I can't see it any other way.

My deal was good, and I'm happy, but the best advice is to be extremely vigilent on every tiny little detail because no matter how friendly the are, they are not your friend going in. If you establish a friendship you value coming out, so much the better.

Good luck. I really do like my new ride, and I would not hesitate to go back to BMW of Sudbury (MA) again. The GM and salesguy were awesome. BUT, I would be very careful at checkout.
  • mugsalinimugsalini Member Posts: 4
Glad to help. It was a good deal because I went to 3 other dealers and the best I could get from them was $1822 down and $519 per month for 36 months. I was not expecting to get below $500 but I held firm that I needed to get below in order to make a deal so he came back at $495. The dealer is Wide World BMW in Spring Valley, NY.

Hi, I just got some lease numbers from my dealer in CA and I wanted to see if anyone thought it was a good deal or if I should walk away.

    2011 BMW 335i coupe
    Saph. Black/Black Dakota
    Premium, Sport, Harmon Kardon, Nav
    MSRP: $52725
    Selling Price: $49464
    Money Factor: .00265
They are paying off my other lease, total of $2650.

    $3000 Drive
    36 mo / 15k
    855.72 including taxes.

I think he said without the payoff of the other lease it would be
    $3000 Drive
    36 mo / 15k
    770 including taxes

I'm not sure if this is a good deal or if I should wait until the money factor decreases? Does anyone think it will decrease significantly for the June numbers?

    Thanks.

What's the $1,000 rebate? Not listed.

I don't believe there will be "higher' rebates, the most the rebate will continue.

Leased an 09 328i sedan at the beginning of Aug. 09. Love this car ! Been reading up on all lease deals, wishing I had known of this site before I leased. My question, albiet a bit early, when my lease ends, is it possible to stay an extra month or two in the car until the BIG dicounts(4k to 6k) from BMW hit. I'd love to lease a 335 with 5 to 6 k off msrp . A no brainer. Any thoughts appreciated.....................

    Hi Firebird,

Thanks, and yes, and I found one there, too! I hadn't looked yet but just completed reading the manual which specified that there is an adapter there. Lo and behold! I went out to the car, probed around and found what has to be a 12V adapter sleeve. Good thing the car wasn't in 'Ready" mode as I stuck my finger up the sleeve in my over-anxious excitement! Now, if I can only figure out what they did with the "Heat-at-Rest" feature, I will be very happy.

Early driving impressions of the 2011 335i xDrive:

Simply put, very impressed. MUCH BETTER exhaust burble, at idle and beginning around 2,500 RPM and up. I haven't gone beyond 4,000 RPM during the break-in period but I'm sure it gets better to redline.

HD radio is a huge improvement, where it can be steadily received. In the Boston 'burbs, WICN Jazz is intermittent but where it did come in as HD, it is much clearer and better defined. Alas, HD radio is also available in a Ford.

Sound insulation also seems to be much better. My neighbor was mowing his lawn and I didn't know as I pulled into my driveway and looked over and saw him.

Engine pull with the Valvetronic is smoother, but "deceptive". Until I can freely rev the engine, I can't really say. It may be weak (I seriously doubt it) or it may take a more purposefully aggressive right foot to derive the biggest smile. After another 1,000 miles or so, I'll re-post. The brief bursts were well rewarded. I have no doubt it will be at least as much fun as the 2007 335xi. By the way, it came stock with the ContiProContacts, not Bridgestones.

For now, I will say that trading my 2007 335xi for the 2011 335i xDrive was a very good decision. This was a purchase rather than a lease. I will try to upload pics, too, if I can figure how.

Don't let them tell you you only have until tomorrow. In this market, you're in the driver's seat. Take your time and don't feel rushed. 2.9% is a good interest rate.

Looking at a 2007 335i with 14,850 miles on it. Nav, premium and sports packages, cold weather package, convenience package. Immaculate condition except for a few scrapes around the rims, only noticeable if you look closely. Speedtronic transmission. Talked them down to $28K from the $34K sticker price. It's not a CPO, but traded in at another dealer. Plan on getting the extended warranty from BMW. Is this a good deal?

I'll take some shots of the interior when it stops raining here. The Oyster interior looks really great! I've been warned against wearing dark blue jeans on these seats. A small sacrifice, to be sure. The car has been washed and waxed with Collinite wax (a second coat to be applied this week) and the windows have been tinted, 35% transparency is all they'll allow here (in MA). Next will be Venture Shield on the front bumper including headlights, exterior mirrors, trunk lip, and rocker panels.

I am sitting on my hands until the Venture Shied can be applied and the 1,200 miles have been run up. The car wants to go! I have barely 180 miles on the odo so far.

Check out the link; let me know what you think.

    Why, thank you!

Someone had posted recently that driving this car with this exterior/interior combination was like sliding into a Maserati each time. I couldn't agree more, and it's more reliable! One customization, which I credit to my wife who got one from me as a birthday present (!), is the replacement of the brushed aluminum shift knob with the Dark Burled Walnut knob. It's a small change, but very significant, and it feels better with no loss of grip. I shopped around and found ours at BMWPartsforLess.com. I think they are actually BMW of Providence, R.I., but who cares!

And for those of who think that giving a shift knob for a birthday present to my wife makes me a stinker, I wanted her to think of me every time she shifts gears. And believe me when I say it, she loves it! My (public) nickname for her is Maria Andretti! She can hold her own, easily, on the twisties!

To the HOST, you HAVE to let this one go through!

    Best regards,

    camry2000,

The secret for me was patience. I didn't need a car...had a 2007 VW Passat that ran great, so I set the price and kept walking away when they didn't meet it. They wanted me to trade in the Passat, which they were low balling me on. They came way down on the price of the BMW and were compensating by low balling the trade in, so I got them all the way down to $28K and at the last minute took the Passat off the table. I stuck to my guns and held them to the $28K they offered me without getting ripped off on my trade in. The salesman pulled me to the side away from his manager and told me I did a great job negotiating the price.

They are not losing any money...trade in value for the BMW was around $22K, so they still got a healthy profit off the deal. There is much more room to negotiate vs. a new car. Dealerships make the most profit off their used vehicles.

No tactics, no vodoo, no smooth talking, it's called supply and demand. Right now on 2010 leftover (and brand new) there is $3500 trunk money from BMW to dealer also 3-series due to stiff competition from A4/A5/S4/S5 and Infiniti G37 series is slow mooving; so dealer discount 3-series in range of $2500-$3000 all day long. If you put those number together $3500+$3000, walla $6500 discount to averrage Joe. Some dealer even more desperate and discount even further, try that in 2007 when DOW is @15000, BMW saleman will laugh in your face when ask for discount (been there done that). This is the time to buy car when you have the means.

What would be a good deal on a certified pre owned 328i. I'm looking for a 2009. The stickers are at about 30k and the dealers are telling me that they really only have about 500 dollar wiggle room. Somehow I think i could get it to 25k, sound right?

Andrew, so many factor for CPO, like condition, miles, option, color etc.
I'll go with edmunds appraised value and other publication (I'd rather not named cause host my not be happy with it, you can google them) to see what the similar car goes for on the open market and add about $2k for CPO.

Quang, yes I was refering to 2010 brand new leftover on dealer lot 3-series cars.

    Dear Gents,

I have had following information from a out of state dealer regarding my price request.

    2010 335xi

    Auto
    Cold and Premium Packages, Navigation.
    Special paint, leather interior.
    MSRP: $53,050
Initial offer price from the dealer : $48, 975
    Monthly payment: $659 plus tax.(12k, 36 months)
Drive off amount : just the first month's payment of $659

But I need to figure out the title and registration by myself. the dealer is located out of my state. I would like to have your comments or suggestion to lower the offer price.

    Thank you in advance.

    Lex.

    You get your wish!

Here you go. It is SWEEET! I love settling into the sport seats, but I caution: Treat it well, and often. My detailer suggested not wearing dark blue jeans as the dye will rub off onto the seats.

And it still smells soooooo good!

This link should include the interior shots. Enjoy!

Yes, at least with Audi. I requested another month and they approved it. They offered a couple more months if I was ordering another Audi. BMW might be the same.
