My zip code only indicated two dealers in Utah and 4 in Illinois who's still participating in this event. 640 miles from California to the nearest.

I got a 2012 328i in mineral gray color in end of June with premium and technology packages, heated seats and xm radio (didn't care for the heated seats or xm radio, but this was the closest car to what I wanted).

Invoice price was 40,485. $350 discount off invoice plus $1000 for the college rebate program. $35,000 down, financed the rest with 3.54% apr. this was done at irvine BMW. Was this a good deal?

I love these type of questions..... Each car market is different so to ask this question on a national forum is a mute point. How would you feel if people stated, you got screwed on the deal and you could have done better? The deal is done, can't chance what happened, as long as you are happy with it that is all that counts.

Just finished with a lease buyout of '09 328xi coupe through a 'no-haggle' dealership in the Denver area. In '09 the purchase price of the vehicle would have $43,625 ($48k MSRP), and to buyout BMW wanted $28,155 but the dealer quoted $25,650 or $28,200 with CPO. Went with having them CPO the car, got the 0.9% finance rate for 24 months (was 1.5% for 36 or 48 months), and did not have to pay the last month's lease payment. They provided an '11 328xi sedan loaner and the CPO inspection and mini detail took 4 1/2 hours. Some thoughts:

    1. There was some confusion with when the CPO warranty would begin, but the final opinion was that it would start after the 4 yr/50k miles new car warranty was up, and I would get a full 6 yr/100k miles with the CPO-added warranty.
    2. I was rather unimpressed with the CPO process. Service did nothing to the car but the inspection. I would have expected that at least an oil change would have been done. I asked whether the Nav's GPS data would be updated (it is three years old) but they said no.
    3. Even with leasing the car for three years, my total out-of-pocket cost will be very nearly the $43.6k new car asking price. This was because BMW had excellent incentives for leasing a car in 2009.
    4. I feel that this was a good deal (not a great deal), and got the dealship to throw in a new set of BMW floor mats.

In all, it was a very good experience working with this dealership, everything was set up by email before I needed to visit the showroom and the getting though the paperwork took less than an hour. Hope this is informative for someone.

    Folks,

Can some one let me know what would be the best out the price I can ask for BMW 328ix drive 2011 new car that has premium package on it. The dealer reduced the price on car to 35995 + tax. I am trying to buy the car and not lease it.

    Thanks

Hi all, I'm look at 2011 model because I could get a good deal. This 328xi has premium package, heated steering wheel, MSRP $41K, dealer quoted $35K. Is this good? How much should I push further?
  • pbgpbg Member Posts: 17
    Hello forum and car_man

I've never purchased a BMW before and want to see if this price sounds ok and how much you think I can negotiate. The car is in good shape, has only 40K miles (it's a 2004 model), it's loaded with all packages.

Asking $16,900. Haven't seen the car yet, and requested VIN# to get a carfax.

Also, should I have a mechanic inspect it before? I know it's a hassle for the seller and if it's a good deal I may lose it, but don't want to get stuck with a lemon either.

    Thanks for your help!

All I will say is that, if it were me, I'd definitely have the car inspected by someone with BMW familiarity before buying any used BMW.

The additional $100-200 may well save you $1000's down the road.

As an additional step, I would also ask to see the car's history and service records. What you see (or don't see) there will tell you volumes about the car.

    Good luck!

Picking up my F30 2013 tonight. Using 7 MSDs, team USA voucher and BMWCCA on a 12k year/3 year lease. MSRP $44,270. Dealer substantially discounted my car because of a BMW error in production. End result, I'm paying $400 a month for the lease.
  • flightnurseflightnurse Member Posts: 2,217
explain how BMW made error in production. Give details of the lease, which model of the F30, options, what was the residual that BMW gave you, money down, money factor, cap reduction... thanks

  • stone19stone19 Member Posts: 28
Invoice price is about 8% off the MSRP, you should be able to get somewhere around 7% off and then apply your loyalty discount, don't believe there are any other incentives right now.

Your money factor is being marked up - std money factor is .00145. Also you should look into doing Multiple Security Deposit if you can, google it to educate your self, you can put down add'l refundable deposits to lower the money factor, doing the math you basically earn 10-12% on your money by saving 40-50 per month on lease payment.

Also, you say Doc Fee of $900, I assume you mean bank fee, std bank fee is $725, so they are also marking that up and you should be able to negotiate that down.

    Good luck
  • stone19stone19 Member Posts: 28
I missed the fact that you are looking at an 2012, you should be able to go below invoice in that case since it is a leftover, I was thinking you were looking at a 2013.
  • todd_gainestodd_gaines Member Posts: 6
BMW didn't install my BT at the factory. I was already getting the car for $500 over invoice. In light of the problem BMW dropped the price of the car $750. Not satisfied (such a small discount for a lease), I had them tear off another $1250 from the CAP Cost. Added in the BMW Team USA voucher giving me a cap cost of 38k. Then I did the 7 MSDs: $2800 (which will come back at the end). 12k mile lease ended up at $399 a month including taxes.

Thanks, yes its a 2012, they are not giving much on the price but there are only 3 dealers in the Phxoenix area and two are owned by the same company. Yes I meant "bank fee" which should be 725 however they are charging more and are upping the rate. Are these negotiable? I have leased before and was not sucessful in getting the rate back down to the base or the doc fee. the .00185 works out to 1400 in profit for them over the 36 months. Im now thinking about ordering one to get exactly what I want as there are no 335i in stock yet.
  • todd_gainestodd_gaines Member Posts: 6
You can do better. The lease fee is negotiable (most reputable dealers will not mark it up).

You may want to check bimmerfest.com as there are board sponsors on there who will easily do $400-500 over invoice on the 335i. They'll go lower on the 328i as the sales are rather soft...

My last two BMWs where bought at Chapman BMW on Camelback, never had a problem always dealt with the internet manager (he just left) but got the deal I wanted. I would stay away from North Scottsdale BMW at all cost...
  • csnyder335icsnyder335i Member Posts: 50
I am going to order a 2013 instead and am talking to Camelback right now. Never ordered a car before and not sure how the process works and how to negotiate the deal. Any advice? :). There are a few that are about to go into production and can still be modified.
  • todd_gainestodd_gaines Member Posts: 6
Go on bmwconfig.com, build the car. Then contact the internet department via email with an exact breakdown of the car you want, invoice price and what you will pay over invoice. Pretty easy. Good dealers will take the offer as it's easy money for them. Bad dealers will play games and ask you to call or say they might have something.
  • flightnurseflightnurse Member Posts: 2,217
I ordered my 2005 330i with the ZPH package, it was a very easy process. I spent about 2 hours with the salesman, going over every options and how each option changed what I wanted. The BMWconfig.com is a good way to understand what can be ordered on your car, but does miss some items you may want on the car. cambelback will no pressure you at all, since a ordered car does not go against their allocation. If you can swing the Euro Delivery do it, I did it on my 2005 and will do it again if I order another BMW. You will save roughly $2000 on the car, and BMW usually will give a special on the airfare. I did not pay MSRP for my car and got an excellent deal on it.
  • csnyder335icsnyder335i Member Posts: 50
Sent my email with the options I wanted and my offer for the car tonight. Guess we will see..... :).
  • csnyder335icsnyder335i Member Posts: 50
Heard back from the sales rep at Camelback and he said he would go 1400 over invoice for the 335i and 600 for 328. Per BMWConfig.com:

    $56,520 MSRP
    $52,145 Invoice

    $925 Bank Fee
    .00145 Money Factor
    $750 Loyalty Credit

TRN Service fee is $180 per BMWConfig, is this the same charge as MACO?
  • nyccarguynyccarguy Member Posts: 16,425
MACO is a regional advertising fee. Different from T&S. They are marking up the bank fee on you. Should be $725.

This may be a stupid question but if I order the car and then BMW kicks in the Holiday credit would I be able to apply it to this car since I will not take delivery until mid November. Not going to change my mind one way or another just curious. Thanks!

    Hi all,

My sister-in-law just got CPO '09 328i with 58k miles for the asking price of 20k at a NY dealership. Her previous car was a 3-series too, but it was ruled a total loss as a result of flood damage. Solid deal I thought and told her it sounded good. I couldn't accompany her at the dealership but the carfax appeared great and it was a 1-owner car.

She signed the paperwork yesterday and called me today after looking at her receipt in a panic. The dealership charged her $1,500 for the Wheel and Tire Protection Package and $2,600 for Maintenance, and apparently, they never explained it to her or informed her.

The Wheel and Tire Package sounds like a complete waste after reading it essentially covers flats/punctures and generalized non-cosmetic damage. I don't have the particulars for the maintenance program, but after reading up on it on the BMW USA website, it sounds like it basically extends the maintenance to 6 years/100,0000 miles. Seems redundant to me as CPO covers 6 years/100,000 miles? Or maybe it is a maintenance plan exclusively through the dealership and not through BMW USA?

I'm certain the Wheel package is a crock. But how about the maintenance? I've been out of the purchasing loop for a little bit, but this seems unfair and sneaky.

Anyone know if the purchaser can someone wiggle out of these fees after the fact? Car was purchased Saturday.

    Thanks a bunch gang
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 237,046
CPO is just a warranty... it doesn't extend the maintenance coverage...

The last list price I saw on the extended maintenance plan for an E90 was $2095.... but, that was a couple of years ago, so it may have increased.. $1500 seems like a lot for tire/wheel coverage...

I wouldn't purchase either one of those... If she wants to cancel, I'm sure there is a cancellation period... Just be aware that if she financed those items, the refund will go to the lender and be applied against the principle of the loan... She will still get the full benefit, but won't see an increase in cash flow until the loan pays up early.

When someone adds $4100 into your loan, you should notice the difference... always good to study an amortization calculator before you go, just so you know what the approximate payment should be... (If I borrow, $20K for 48 months at 3%, my payment is $443, etc...)

    regards,

I got my niece a great deal on a 2009 328i, it is Black with Oyster leather, it has the sport package, premium package, comfort access system, Xenon headlights, Power rear shade, side shades, Headed front seats, multi zone climate control, USB adapter, Satellie radio, and it has 46K miles, it is a CPO, and all the service records, the car was bought and then sold from the same dealer. She got it for $24K, which I thought was a great deal, she was able to get 3% financing on it. This is her first BMW, and wont be her last. So the car has 4K left of the free maintenance, and how is covered for 100K.. One of the best CPO's out there...
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 32,940
The prices do sound about right to me, unfortunately, but they absolutely should have explained it, and I'm pretty sure there is extra paperwork that needs to be signed for that.(??)

As for the wheel/tire package, what size wheels came on the car? If by some chance she has the 18" wheels, you might actually consider keeping that package. The wheels are ridiculously soft and the runflat tires will bubble pretty easily, too.

Of course, the cheaper option, if you have the 18" wheels, is to buy aftermarket 17" wheels and non-runflat tires.

Try bimmerfest and do the board sponsors. No 3 series should be going for more than $100-200 over invoice before rebates/incentives. The 3 series is selling poorly (august was awful).
  • todd_gainestodd_gaines Member Posts: 6
Do not do it. MSDs. look them up. 2750 down payment should be in multiple security deposits. Also you need to give us more details. If you're getting almost 4k off, that better be 4k off INVOICE, not sticker for a 328i e92. The body style is dead.

With any lease first you get them to commit to a price BEFORE applying rebates. Second, you make sure the money factor is base and that all fees are normal. Then you apply max security deposits (lowering your money factor by .00049 - about $50 a month).

    1. Selling price
    2. Fees
    3. MF
    4. Fees
    5. MSDs

Cap cost reduction only works if you need to lower your car's cap cost a little to get cheaper MSDs.

Today I was offered the following deal by a dealer:

    - New 2012 328i Sedan
    with
    - Met Gray
    - Lighting package
    - Prem package
    - Tech package
    - Heated Front Seats

    MSRP: $45,145
    Selling at $41,800
    Lease 36mths / 15K miles
    MF = 0.00115
    Residual= 59%
Zero Down (I mean 0 down, just sign and Drive, dealer pays first months lease payment)
    $545/month incl. GA Tax

    Is this good?
  • escortownerescortowner Member Posts: 132
I have to second kyftx's response overall.

The maintenance is a separate plan to that of the warranty. The tire plan is basically a crock because you can practically buy new tires for that price. Read the find print as I am sure you can cancel both as he said. They will surely give you a hard time on doing it though by trying to make you feel like it is a stupid decision.

On my first car the same thing happened to me with an extended warranty. I ended up going down to the dealership and canceling my warranty and it took a year off my payments. Interest rates were a bit higher than, so it may not have the same impact on her, but that's how it's done.

However, you could likely refinance right away if you really want to keep the same loan duration.

And as kyfdx said before, read things carefully. If there isn't n out, most places won't just be nice about it.

I got responses like "call me" need more info" "might have something for you"...

Did you say the 328 is body style is dead? ...I didn't look at the style, just how it drives and the interior. What might be a good price to buy at this time? Thanks. The guy is still talking MSRP, and it's a 2012!
  • gurmgurm Member Posts: 27
Hi, I am about to order a new 335xi, fully loaded. The only thing I am leaving out is M-sport package. The MSRP is coming out to be around 56k.

What would be the good sale price?

BTW, I almost bought a 2012 535xdrive for 8500 under msrp but cancelled it considering the fun factor to be more in 3 series.

    Thanks in advance!
  • flightnurseflightnurse Member Posts: 2,217
You can't get the M- Sport Package when you get AWD.... BTW, I would have gotten the 535 over the 335 for that price, since you are paying roughly the same amount of money...
  • gurmgurm Member Posts: 27
Well the actual factor was some shipping problem, I was buying it from out of state but shipping didn't work out for my plans.

Now deciding to buy 3 series locally. What would be good price for 3 series for msrp of 56k?
  • flightnurseflightnurse Member Posts: 2,217
First if the dealer who was selling the 535i at 8500 off MSRP could not ship it to your local BMW good thing you walked from the deal.. There was a problem, second no one can tell you what to pay for the 335ix, each region is different, and different regions have different discounts. Since I do not know where you live, can answer your question, however, go to www.truecar.com this will give you an idea on what cars are selling for in your area...

    MSRP $45,145
    Selling price $40,970
    Tax 7%
    Residual = 59%
    MF= 0.00115
    36mnts 15K/yr
$0 Down (not a penny, not even 1st mnts payment)

    lease payment $509/mnt
  • buyabuya Member Posts: 74
Not too shabby. $509 x 35 or 36 months is still about $18k for 3 years of driving the car you like @ 15k/yr. But what do you need to pay at the end of the lease? Dents, scratches, ... how much end-of-lease fees if you just return the keys? Got to ask. Rented a car from a not publicly owned "E........." rental company before and the car flipped over because I guessed was lack of maintenance (heard other customerSS complaining at their office and didn't know to run!!). And those people said they're gonna sue me for that!! Got me scared for many years. Bad people! Bad business! But they thrived through the decades!
