    Hi all.
    I'm planning to buy 6s.
Does anyone know when could I see the 05 model?
Should I have to wait more than a month?

I live in Redmond Wa and I'm trying to buy a Mazda 6S sedan with automatic, luxry pak, and a sport pack. Is 21,000 out the door (tax and everything included) asking too much? I've been to 3 dealers and they insult me by asking me to pay 26,000!!!!!!!
  • rampedramped Member Posts: 358
They aren't trying to insult you. They are just trying to make a lot of money. Just like you are trying to save a lot of money.

Your offer seems optimistic. Sounds like you are trying to buy a 25-26K car for about 4-5K off, including taxes. With the $1,500 rebate included, you are probably looking in the 22-23K range if you really want to buy the car. When the 05s hit the lots in a few weeks, the dealer's motivation may increase.

It was my understanding that there is no sales tax in Washington, correct?

We went to a local dealer yesterday, and got these numbers on a 04 6 wagon auto in silver w/bose package.

MSRP $24680 minus $4500 which included our $500 loyalty bonus voucher we received by mail the other day.So we can get the car for $20180 which is $2488 under invoice, and the dealer offered a interest rate of 3.9% so payments are around $370 a month on a 5 year loan.We previously got lease figures from another delaer for the same car at $329 a month on a 4 year 12k a year lease with a cap cost of $22200 with no incentives of any kind. This is all on top of going to a local subaru dealer and looking at foresters which have some advantages over the mazda but no where near the wiggle room or incentives. My wife is more inclined to buy than lease and wants payments around what we have now($340 a month on her 00 protege ES).We also looked at and drove a 04 mazda3 hatch which we liked but the dealer had none with the side airbag package.I bet we could get the payments down to our target on the purcahes of a 3 hatch but we are having a tough time finding one with the moonroof and abs packages. Also we just found out to get the side airbags on the 6 we need to get the moonroof pack with something else.We are so confused. We like the mazdas but can't find the right packs or have to get things we don't want to get the safety stuff.Any input is welcome. Thanks

On Cars.com there are the new prices listed for the 05 Mazda6.If anybody's curious.
  • bomber101bomber101 Member Posts: 5
Anybody here take the cash rebate and NOT apply it towards the car price? And does anybody know how long it takes to get said rebate back in the mail? :() I decided to take the $1500 + $500 and apply it towards another bill and just wanted to know how long I have to wait for it. Thanks to anyone in advance for filling me in.

Just totalled my car so looking to get new car, thinking about mazda 6. live in ny state. So far I have seen a Mazda 6 S V6 for 22,500. Whats the best offer i can make to them or what price do you think I can get this car with all incentives. Is now the time to buy since 05s are already in the lot? How low will they go? Just wondering if anyone might know or have advice, anything at all!, thanks!
  • rampedramped Member Posts: 358
Go to the new cars section here at edmunds, click on mazda and you can check the TMV price of Mazda 6s models in your area.

There is a $1,500 rebate on the cars in many areas of the country. Counting that rebate, you can ballpark an offer of about $3,500 off the sticker and feel pretty confident you are getting a good deal.

I don't believe that the 05 Mazda 6s have arrived yet.

    We're looking to get a 2004 Mazda6 wagon with
    Leather
    AT
    Safety package
    Bose stereo

Drove one pretty much equipped like this, MSRP is 26,400 (I don't think it had a moonroof which is fine with us). Rebates going on now are $4000 off. Is 22,400 the bottom line or can we negotiate further? Haven't asked about trade in yet for our other car.

    I leased a Mazda 6i 2.3L
    4speed auto,
    16" alloys & wheel locks,
    ABS and traction control,
    8 way power driver seat
    cost $20324
    tax 1524.30
    misc 79
    total 21917.80

I traded in a 1995 sable with 85000 miles on it. They gave me $3500 for it which I was shocked since all the other dealers said it was worth between $500 to 1250. the only firm offer I received was 500. I put down $547.
My monthly payment for 48 months with 12000 miles per year is $210.93.

Just bought a 6-cyl Mazda6 5-door from University Mazda in Seattle.

    Options:
    Luxury Package (1LX)
    Bose Audio Package (3RA)
    Power Moonroof (MR1)
Front and Rear Side Airbags (AB6)
    Electrochromic Mirror with Compass/Homelink (MRH)

    MSRP (with destination): $27,290
    Invoice (with destination): $24,766

Dealer price: $23,567 (before tax and license).

At that price I could take either 0% financing or an additional $1500 off. I chose 0% and am very happy with the car.

No offense but you might want to look over your options again, specifically ABS (not available with 8-way power seat and 16'' alloys) and traction control (not available at all on base 6i)

I would have also given you $4500 for your 1995 Sable but I'd charge you $21324 for that Mazda then :-) I'm afraid there's no free lunch...
  • waltkwaltk Member Posts: 4
cracovian, I'm not offended. I rechecked and I do have ABS, 8 power seat, 16" allow wheels and traction control on my 6i. If you go to mazdausa.com you can build a 6i just the way I purchased it.

AS for the trade in I realize that they play with the numbers, but I purchased it for 4000 and to get 3500 back for it makes it seem it only cost me 500 to own the car for the year.
  • cracoviancracovian Member Posts: 337
The only way to get ABS and TCS on the 2.3i is with the $950 security package that also includes side airbags and curtains. The $770 sport package with the spoiler is something you also must select. The 8-way power seat is not available with those options.

carsdirect.com does a better job illustrating what combinations are possible but it only confirms what I said earlier.

But then again, I'm not the one with the car and if you got what you wanted then you should be happy - I'll shut up now.

My best luck on a mazda 6s has been $5,000 off MSRP. I have been dealing with a guy on the internet and he said anyone I want for $5,000 off MSRP, and this was before a college grad discount as well.

Basically, the one I was looking at was as follows:

    Bose System
    Sports Package
    Moonroof
    Airbags

    Sticker Price was 24,900

After $5,500 off, the price would be 19,400 before any taxes etc.

I know right now this is a fair deal, but I am looking for more. Hoping they increase the rebate from $1,500 or include 0% interest on top of that to get the real deal I want.

I have a deal, via phone and confirmed w/a faxed sales sheet, for Mazda 6 5 speed V6. I have to drive 65 miles to pick it up tomorrow evening. MSRP 26,090, Invoice 23,450. Salesman agreed to 200 under invoice, for a net under MSRP of 2,840. Any ideas on how to get closer to that 5,000 off price you referenced? Thanks.

I think I have negotiated a price for a 2004 Mazda6 wagon that's on the lot and want to know what others think.

    Bose
Leather and heated seats to be added aftermarket
    Moonroof
    AT
    Safety package with side airbags
    Traction control

Price: $22,200 after incentives with 3.9% financing.

A lowball on my trade however so we will have to sell privately.

    Good deal?

Regarding your Mazda6 wagon, at this time of year you have to look at invoice and forget about the rebates for a moment. Actually, you make out better @ 0% rather than 1000 off at 3.9%. Do the math before you decide. I went to a local dealer and he sold me $424 under invoice. The dealer hold back was $437. They had 10-12 04s left and there is a strong incentive to move them before the middle of October. I, too am selling my car rather than trading in. I hope this helps.

Here's my experience in buying a 2004 Mazda 6 in the Eastern PA. in late September 2004.

I wanted a basic car with few options. I realized the 4 door had an invoice price that was about $1,600 less than the 5 door, and the 4 door had 6 inches more of rear headroom. The 4 door still has folding rear seats to carry long items. I went to the www.mazdausa.com website and looked at the inventory of area dealers. This inventory list may be slightly out of date, but it was still useful. I contacted the dealers through email, hoping to not have to travel to each one, but each one really would only deal in person.

The first dealer (Tom Masano Mazda in Reading PA) had a car that was close to what I wanted. I told them I was going to 2 other dealers. They then gave me a good price, which was about $200 over invoice - before rebate. I went to the second dealer (Young Mazda in Easton PA) and they wouldn't even match that offer.

The 3rd dealer was Allentown Mazda in Allentown PA, which was a very pleasant experience. They didn't have a car close to what I was looking for. However, they immediately offered to find any car I wanted and they would drive out and get it for $350 over invoice - before rebate. That surprised me because that simply covers the cost of the transport. As a result, I received a car with just the right options and the right color. The dealer that they obtained the car from in Timonium MD had been trying to charge $995.95 over invoice for dealer prep, stripe decals, rubber door guards and tire locks. Fortunately, I didn't have to pay anything for those items.
    ---
Mazda dealers get 2% of the price of all cars back from Mazda as a "holdback". This is a source of their profits, in addition to high mark up on the better trade-ins. I was told by the dealer that they only get the full amount if they get high ratings in customer satisfaction services. If their ratings are lower, they get less back. So the dealer begged me to give them all "10s" to thank them for their service.
    ---
I made sure I told each dealer that I only wanted to talk "out the door" price - not monthly payments. That made it much easier to compare dealers, and avoid last-minute fees.

Allentown Mazda was then able to match the best new auto loan rate that I had found on the net from www.capitalone.com.
    ----
When people are discussing prices on this site, I suggest they look up the invoice price on this website, and then talk about the price offered over that invoice. Remember to include destination charge, which the dealer must pay 100%.

Purchased a 2004 Pebble Ash/black cloth 6s sedan with sunroof, bose, side airbags, auto, sport package at Cory Fairbanks Mazda in Longwood, FL on Thursday.

    List: 25,800

Price: 22,433 plus $649 handling, less rebate ($1,500) and college rebate ($500).

Also got about $500 more for my trade ('92 Maxima SE, total $1,547) than other dealers offered.

Final out the door price with all taxes and tags was $21,000.

Did most of the negotiations over the phone, but ran into a few hitches at the dealership as the folks I had talked to weren't there when I showed for my appointment.

But, they stuck to the price I had agreed to earlier. Outstanding car and outstanding deal. I am very satisfied.

That was a good deal!!! One year ago today, I purchased an '03 6i for 21k out the door. It is fully loaded (different packages for '03) and it was also $21,000 out the door. You didn't say you had wheel locks, so that makes me feel better, lol!!!!
  • ericzoomericzoom Member Posts: 213
You were lucky.Fairbanks Mazda used to be in Coconut Creek FL and they didn't have a good reputation for prices and service. They sold the dealership about a year ago.
  • rampedramped Member Posts: 358
Cutemorganite: Remember that the $21,000 out the door figure for my car includes my trade, so don't feel so bad! Didn't even think about wheel locks. Honestly don't know whether I have them or not. I'll have to check after work.

Eric: I can see where Fairbanks could be a problem for someone who wasn't prepared. I avoided most of the high pressure stuff by dealing through e-mail and phone. Still, it took about three hours to close the deal, but I can't complain. Just like all banner stores, I'm sure they take advantage when they can.

The wife and I will be looking at this time next year. Being as we live across the street from Lou Bachrodt, it would be very convienent to buy there. Have you had any dealings with them yet?
We both really like the 6, and hopefully the driving experience will pursuade us to buy one.

I live in Parkland and after looking at many different dealers in the area,we bought our 6 at Palm Beach Mazda because they gave us the best deal.I brought my car for service to L.Bachrodt and didn't find them to good.I actually bring my car to Delray Mazda for service because they do a fantastic job.Don't just go for convienence, look around at other dealers, because there is a big diff.in prices between them as I found out.

Checked the internet, and test drove a Mazda 6s Wagon. Went to a no-pressure dealer, and was offered a 4k discount, before I even test drove the car. Very upfront with a 1500 rebate, and a 1000 Factory to Dealer incentive. He had the car at "4000" under MSRP before the test drive.

Got home and checked invoice on a 6s Wagon with 5sp Auto, moon, leather , SAB/SAC, sport package, along with wind deflector and lock nuts.

    MSRP with Destination

MSRP: 27,740( Auto, Bose, Luxury Grp, Sport, Grp, Moonfoof, auto dim mirror)

Dead on with his numbers, generous with the trade on my 2001 Ram Quad Cab, and did I mention the Mazda is just a blast to drive!!!

Really locked at a hatchback 5 door, but the wagon was too cool. Especially with my r/c boat and 72 inch mast and sails having to fit.

After checking the Altima and Accord, this thing just beats the **** out of them for style, funtionality, value, and FUN.

Interesting info about the $1K factory to dealer money. I thought something like that might be available because that is the amount I thought the dealer was eating on my deal last week (Pebble Ash 6s sportsedan w/side curtains and Bose). Did your sales rep mention if that incentive was available for all MZ6s, or just the wagon?

I went to Cory Fairbanks Mazda when I was looking to buy- soon after the 6 came out( January 2003) and they really p@#$@d me off. I walked out on them and bought from classic mazda the same day. I would never do business with them the way they treated me.
  • suydamsuydam Member Posts: 4,676
I bought an '04 wagon recently off the dealer's lot:
    Squall blue pearl
    Aftermarket leather and heated seats
    Moonroof
    Bose with CD changer
    AT
    Cargo and floor mats
    Safety package
    Traction control
    Cargo cover and dog net

Price after rebate: $22,000 + tax and title.
Love it so far! Not as smooth as my '01 Maxima but a huge difference from the 4 cyl. Forester it replaced. Great dog car too!

Initially I got stuck with the "this price is only good today" and walked out. The General Manager called the next day and apologized, and I got the car for that price a week later. I told them I wanted NO snow jobs from the finance guy as to extended warranty, paint protection, etc., and they stuck to it. So after a bad beginning it actually turned out to be pretty painless. Just hope it turns out to be as reliable as it is fun. I know I'll miss the AWD of the Subaru but not its repair bills.

Fairbanks is a high-pressure store. Not the kind of place you want to walk into without knowing exactly what you want and how much it costs. I was there about the same time as you in '03 shortly after the MZ6 came out, and it was a zoo.

I worked with a nice salesman at Classic South around Memorial Day, told him what I wanted, but he never made a move to locate a car. I found this car on the web and did the negotiating over the phone. Had my credit union loan locked up when I walked in. Things went about as smooth as possible. There were a couple of moments where I sensed they were going to try something, but I was adamant that our original deal be honored and they obliged. I think they need sales too badly, after the hurricanes, to play games.

They delivered what they promised, and I didn't get the mop and glo pitch from the F&I guy.

I'm looking into purchasing the Mazda 6s soon, but don't want to hassle with dealers who are unprofessional or too pushy. I live in Jersey City and want to know if anyone out there can suggest any dealers in the area who they've done business with before.
    -Much appreciated!
  • elsapooneelsapoone Member Posts: 3
These are the options I'm looking for in the 2004 '6:

    Luxury Package
    5-Speed Sport AT
    Sport Package w/ Rear Spoiler
    Power Moonroof
    Bose Audio Package
Side Air Bags and Side Curtain Airbags
    Sport Grille
    ULEV Emissions Equipment
    All-Weather Floor Mats

-Just wanted to know if anyone had an idea about what's the max I should pay with these options. The TMV is $24,341.
  • rampedramped Member Posts: 358
I'm sorry I can't recommend a dealer from your area as I live in Florida.

As far as price, if you are buying the 6s sedan, the sticker with the options you have listed is somewhere in the $27,500 range.

The TMV is high. It generally takes a few weeks for all transactions to be factored into the TMV. This late in the 04 model year, with the 05s arriving, you can and should do better on the 04 model.

Including the $1,500 rebate, you should expect a dealer to subtract anywhere from $4,500 to $5,000 off the sticker. Of course, you then add back in local taxes and fees. Remember that Mazda also offers a $500 recent college graduate rebate.

My advice is to make an out the door offer, inclusive of all taxes and fees, to several dealers in your area. I think one of them will bite if they have the car in stock.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the advice and info. It's been pretty nerve racking making my first car purchase. I just don't want to go in blind. I'll post my experience afterwards.

Found a used 2004 Mazda 6 Wagon, blue with 8000 miles. According to dealer they bought at auction. Car is in great shape, except the inside of back hatch is scratch and marked, and the cargo cover is slightly creased. Options include luxury package, sport package, Bose audio, rear spoiler, side airbags, cargo net. MSRP, new is 27,500.

Dealer is asking 22,295. Considering that I could buy this same car new at or near invoice with rebates for approximately 23,500, what should I offer? The car has depreciated for almost a year and has those dings on the back door. I think this car "out the door" is closer to 18,750-19,500. Also the car has been sitting in the lot for at least a month.

Could anyone suggest an offer? Thanks for the help
  • suydamsuydam Member Posts: 4,676
the price is definitely too high. That's more than what I paid 2 weeks for a 2004 wagon with 30 miles on it (and I put 15 of them on it myself test driving it). On the other hand, the '05's aren't out yet, and around here dealers are still asking full price on new '04s (but knocking at least $4000 off the sticker price when you negotiate). But that being said, why would buyers pay full price for one with 8000 k when they can still get them new for less miles? I wouldn't pay more than $20,000 for sure. Your offer of $19,500 seems fair. I can't imagine another buyer snapping it up for more than that. By the weekend (end of the month) your dealer might be more reasonable.

Just purchased a 2004 6s V6 5 Door with 5 spd sport AT, Luxury pkg, Moonroof/deflector, side bags/curtains, Bose, All-weather mats + cargo mat- MSRP $28230. paid $22,999. incl rebate from Quirk in Quincy, MA Nice deal, nice car, good salesman. They have lots of inventory; most other dealers had few '04s and were waiting for '05s to dribble in. Looked at a lot of other cars for much more money (Acura, Infiniti, Lexus, Nissan) but the Mazda has them beat hands down in terms of value/bang for the buck. Zoom, Zoom!

I am not sure where you are from but I am in the process of negotiating for a mazda6 myself (but I am hung out to dry on the trade in of my current car), but I think I have been pretty successful in the negotiations and here is what I have been able to accomplish:

-Any of the cars at invoice before rebate. The rebate is $2,250 to the seller. In addition, the dealer is getting a $750 kickback from Mazda, which Edmunds ins't showing. I have had several dealers say they can match that price. Therefore, take the invoice price and subtract $3K....I think you could accomplish that value if you play your cards right. I have always had the best luck by going through the internet fleet manager via e-mail.

If you are a new college grad, tack another $500 onto that. One thing I have had them try to confuse me with is the difference between them and the manufacturer. They are different, so the incentives to the Manuf. don't cut into their profit margin at all.

Also, new incentives come out on Nov. 1 - which are likely to increase.

What is your source for the 2% holdback on the car? I am in the process of negotiating for a mazda6, and everything I can get will help me out.

Sorry I dind't get back sooner. I didn't notice your message....have you bought the car by chance? If not, just note that you have seen deals that are $3,000 under invoice after rebate and you will keep looking if necessary. The best tactic is to walk out I have found. Every time, I have done that, they have called back with a better deal. If they don't call within a couple of days - then it is probably because they are at their bottom or, the buyer is too low, and don't think they will come up at all. I have had that happen to me as well.

It may be a regional thing, but it definitely isn't something the dealers advertise. This is something I stumbled on when I was soliciting to different dealers and one of them said that they got $750 back from Mazda.

In my conversation with him, I inquired about the rebates on October 1 changing. At that time he said they went up for the consumer, and down for the dealer.

He told me that it was $2250 for the consumer, and $750 to the dealer - he was the only one to tell me about that. When other dealers came to me to solicit my business I said I had a pretty good deal through this one dealer and noted the $750 to the dealer he was passing on to me.

I am in Texas, so it may be different here than there, but if you push on it you may find out that they have that sort of rebate. Maybe give the guy some song and dance about going to another state that has this incentive - it may get them to loosen the wallet a little and provide you more information.

You may be referring to the amount Mazda gives the dealer if the buyer enthusiastically gives them a thumbs up when they get surveyed after buying the car. In that case, it's contingent on the buyer liking the buying experience and isn't automatic.
$3000 under invoice seems terrific but maybe not all areas of the country can do so well. It probably depends on how many '04s are left on the lot and how badly the dealer wants to get rid of them. I would say try for it, but if you wind up anywhere around $1500 - $2000 under invoice you'll probably be pretty satisfied. Keep in mind the '05s will probably be higher and there will be less incentive for the dealer to bargain on them. This is a great time of year to buy a car.
