Be warned tbcreative. Harry was almost busted for *summarizing* a Car and Driver article.

*summarizing* a Car and Driver article.

Summarizing and extensive quoting or quoting of material in its entirety are NOT the same! Copyright laws permit the quoting of SHORT excerpts of copyrighted material in the "Fair Use" provisions.

    Now, carry on!

It's not even worth Car & Driver's time, especially if I didn't scan the image, let alone post it, and I'm certainly not profiting from it. So, it's basically passing along information that's available in a somewhat unrestricted internet.

MAN, DOES THIS LOOK COOL!!! I Can't wait for the SUV version in Detroit! I think this looks cooler than the H2. I'll be first in line to buy the SUV version!

For bigger pics go to the following site. There are more pics than just that one, 9-26, just change the 26 after H3T-

Cool! Can't wait to see the SUV version. A yellow or sunset orange with a brushed aluminum trims must be a hot seller. What's that red thing on the tire?
  • tbcreativetbcreative Member Posts: 357
I was hoping for an introduction of the production H3 in Detroit, but no such luck. I'm hoping for Chicago or New York, but I'm not holding my breathe. So, here's my version of what I hope the H3 looks like. I know it'll loose things like the built-in winch and tow hooks, and the silver rockers, but I can dream, Right? Hope you like it...

I have to admit I don't like Hummer's too much, their just to big for me!! But this H3, will be perfect for me!!

    With 350-hp, source http://www.edmunds.com/future/2005/hummer/h3/100301493/spec- s.html?tid=edmunds.f.photos.leftsidenav..1.HUMMER*
WHY will it have more HP than the ESCALADE??
Weird, that's 5 more HP than the 5.7LHEMI V-8, the 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee will offer!!

I went to a Hummer dealership the other day and the salesman told me they are building a 5 passenger SUT priced in the lower 30s due out this fall. I hope its very similar to the H3T with a midgate! With a 350 HP engine she'll rock! I'll have to go back and get more details from him.
  • theo2709theo2709 Member Posts: 476
They were referring to the H2 SUT. The H3 will be out as an SUV first and it's not coming out this fall.
  • corvettecorvette Member Posts: 10,229
I don't think an H2 SUT will be priced in the lower 30's. It should retail higher than the Avalanche!

I hope this isn't going to have the 5 cylinder Colorado engine in it..... Hopefully, it will get the Trailblazer I-6, which is an excellent mill.
  • tbcreativetbcreative Member Posts: 357
I wish it was getting that engine too, or even the GMT platform V8. It's going to get the I-5, however. Rumor has it that GM has been testing and developing a turbo-charged version for the H3, like the one in the H3T, that may produce around 300+HP! It may not be ideal, but it's better than just a regular 5.

I sure wish they'd introduce the H3 in New York...
  • tbcreativetbcreative Member Posts: 357
THIS IS THE NEW H3! I have thoroughly analyzed this photo in PhotoShop, and compared it to the latest spy pics to be sure the design cues match. They do, 100%. I have no doubt this is the final product. I have been working in PhotoShop professionally in comic books, animation, and TV production, for over 12 years and can safely say, this is the real deal.

    image

Depending on what this looks like in reality, I am not as impressed with this as I am with the H3T, which is usually the case with concept to production vehicles. But, as anxious as I've been for this truck, this has me leaning toward a new 4Runner with a lift.
  • nvbankernvbanker Member Posts: 7,239
Thanks for posting it. I think it's great looking. But the I-5 will probably dissuade me.
  • theo2709theo2709 Member Posts: 476
If it's not real, that's one damn good Photoshop.

You shouldn't be frightened of the I5, the turbocharger should fill your need for power.
  • nvbankernvbanker Member Posts: 7,239
Turbos don't do well in this climate long term. They tend to superheat and burn up, very costly.

Confirmation, that pic is real. Might I ask where you got it, tb?
  • tbcreativetbcreative Member Posts: 357
I got it from the Hummer3.net website, in the H3 discussion thread. It's a division of Humvee.net.

Thanks for the confirmation. I would have bet everything I own, that it is legit.

I love those things. I love your report as well. I'm disappointed to hear about the I5 engine though. Would it have killed them to use the Trailblazer engine at least, if not a V-8?
  • tbcreativetbcreative Member Posts: 357
    Amen, nvbanker...amen.

And where's the "turbo-charged" version GM has supposedly been testing? And on that subject, why a turbo, and not a supercharger? Tsk, tsk, GM...tsk, tsk.
  • nvbankernvbanker Member Posts: 7,239
I swear, I just can't figure out where GM is coming from these days. Hummer is a huge hit with the H2. But it's a Premium brand, with a Premium price - why the hell would you skimp on the engine? You don't want it slow. Mileage, cafe ratings notwithstanding, you're not gonna make cafe with the Hummer brand, so make the truck special!!

Chrysler should have bought Hummer. They could use a good looking SUV!! Maybe they would have made something out of it under the hood too.
  • corvettecorvette Member Posts: 10,229
Chrysler, hmm, interesting idea. Hey, that H3 got a Hemi in it?

The traditional Hummer brand attributes have been near-unstoppable offroad performance. On-road performance is a secondary consideration. Now that the Hummer brand is becoming more commoditized, perhaps they could introduce road-tuned versions of the H2 and H3 (the H1 is beyond hope), kind of like the Red Line Saturns.
  • ecorrellecorrell Member Posts: 6
There's no doubt the h3 is a very well kept secret. The h3
designers are probably sitting in their offices laughing at each and everyone of us. Why all the spy photos floating around their probably extremely satisfied. It's not often GM can keep a new car under wraps(just look at all the spy photos of the new corvette)but when they do their lucky. They will surprise everyone with a suv (or truck) that will blow ppl's minds i'm sure and I can't wait. Personaly I think it will be an suv built on the chevy ext/gmc xl platform with more of a toned down h2 look. Ne1 agree?
  • tbcreativetbcreative Member Posts: 357
Um, did you see the photo I posted at #102? THAT IS THE PRODUCTION H3! No secrets or spy covering; it's the real deal. GM even asked the humvee.net site to take it down when it originally hit the internet.

That's what we're basing our visual comments on, and our mechanical criticism is based on an article some guys posted about their experience with the H3, when they were invited to a test analysis of it. That's why we're taking such a strong stance with our opinions. Of course that may all change to some degree, when it actually comes out next year, but right now we're less than thrilled.

Go back and read most of the posts on page 6, and you'll find more evidence of what we're talking about.
  • ecorrellecorrell Member Posts: 6
I'm sorry but you are 100% dead wrong!!! I mean seriously dude that picture to me seems like either: a concept photo, a spy photo or a teaser of the Hummer h2. I mean use your eyes! The front end looks exactly like the h2 and as does some of the rest of the body. Another thing, that car is big and expensive looking! Correct me if I'm wrong(which i'm not)but didn't Gm say the next hummer would be smaller and less expensive!? You obviously don't know what you are talking about. Anybody agree?
  • tidestertidester Member Posts: 10,059
    Anybody agree?

Let's agree not to make this personal.

1)The yellow pic was originally posted by a person that works for a Hummer dealer

2)The forum removed the pic with request from GM

3)Some members with contacts confirmed that the pic was shown at the dealers convention

4)members of both HML and h2source were invited to different previews. The h2source posted that the vehicle they saw looked like that pic, I don't know if HML members actually accepted the invite.
  • ecorrellecorrell Member Posts: 6
The whole message I posted led to the last question: Does anybody agree?. His comment was: "Um, did you see the photo I posted at #102?
THAT IS THE PRODUCTION H3! No secrets or spy covering; it's the real deal". My reply was to tell him that he has the wrong photo, that, that is not the "real deal" of what the h3 will look like and I wanted everyone else to consider what I said and if they agree or disagree, yes or no, and I don't appreciate HOST saying "lets not make this personal" when that's not what it's like or renco typing in spaced, numbered lines as if i'm stupid because obviously I know more about this subject that either of you two do Anybody agree with that?
  • rencorenco Member Posts: 38
Ok, why do you know more? Have you actually seen the production model?
  • tidestertidester Member Posts: 10,059
I don't appreciate HOST saying "lets not make this personal"

When you tell someone pointedly he doesn't know what he's talking about and ask the group if anyone agrees with that then you're making it personal.

I suggest you adopt a less confrontational tone. Confrontation distracts from any point you're trying to make and can become disruptive.

Why do you feel that the vehicle in the pic is not smaller and more expansive than the H2? There isn't a H2 pic for you to compare the size with and you can't see the interior to judge the expense. The pic also looks very close to the H3 spy shots and H3T.
  • ecorrellecorrell Member Posts: 6
Hmmm let's see? If you can't tell that the vehicle pictured in #102 isn't smaller than an h2 then I can understand why you question my knowledge. I'm not trying to be rude but you brought this on yourself, and for the expense issue, if gm must limit power and luxury for the new pontiac solstice(which is still a great value and will sell tremendously great, probably better than anything else in pontiac history.) pricing it in the high teens, then i'm sure that Gm can't afford to spend big bucks on a new Hummer and even if gm sells the hummer h3 at a low price i'm sure value and resale value won't be great(proof showing in the following:Grand am,aveo, minivans, and a few more chevrolets)and all it takes is a few people in the city to change consumers minds to a new 05 grand cheerokee after a month or two driving it. How could you say it looks like the h3 spy shots when most of the designs look like the current h2.
  • rencorenco Member Posts: 38
H2 has clearence lights, spy shots don't.

H2's doors stick out, spy pics don't.

Spy pics has fender flares, H2 doesn't

The doors on the yellow pic look more like the spy pics than the H2.

The entire body looks more like the spy pics rather than the H2.

    Etc.

After returning form a much needed vaction and reading your reply I have a question, ever been to an auto show? You see, at auto shows they display vehicles called concepts. What I believe your hummer photo #102 is, is a concept vehicle. When a car company displays a vehicle at an auto show, usually the case is they give a totally crazy vehicle to catch peoples attention. When the vehicle goes into production it changes dramatically for many reasons. A couple are: to save money by not having to build all of the extra equipment, and that the concept design may not appeal to everyone. Hmm..this reminds me of something...Oh Yeah! Photo #102
  • tbcreativetbcreative Member Posts: 357
I think you're on to something! So, let's see... The H2 concept looked nothing like the actual H2, right? Oh, no wait a minute...yeah it did. Granted, I like the concept better, but it's not that different. Then how about the Chevy SSR? That didn't look anything like...oh, whoops! It sure did look like the production version. I know, I know! How about the Pontiac Solstice?! Oh, yeah...car magazines have showed the pre-production version, and it looks like the concept...bummer.

Well, I guess maybe someone like Daimler/Chrysler has done that recently! Let's see...there was the Prowler...no, no...the PT Cruiser...um, nope...the new Durango...no radical changes there from the R/T concept. Hmmm...

I know, I know! Ford! Well, actually their production versions are toned down a bit more than the others, and more than most of us wish, like the new Mustang. While the new F-150 is a great redesign, it's really sedate compared to the Tonka concept.

Well, gosh. Except for Ford, I really thought you were on to something there, but I guess not.
  • tbcreativetbcreative Member Posts: 357
Again, the photo at #102 IS THE PRODUCTION VERSION OF THE H3. IT WAS A PHOTO GIVEN TO AN H3 VENDOR, WHO PASSED IT ALONG TO A GUY WHO POSTS ON HUMVEE.NET. SO IT IS THE REAL DEAL; NO DOUBT ABOUT IT; NO QUESTIONS NEED TO BE ASKED, OR SPECULATIONS NEED TO BE STATED.

Does the front end RESEMBLE the H2? Of course! What did you expect it to look like? A Colorado? Is it EXACTLY like the H2? Nope. Most notably are the U-bolt tow hooks and the absence of the HUMMER name across the grille.

Have you checked out all of the spy shots? Notice how they look EXACTLY like this production photo? How about the H3T concept? As far as styling cues, the only main difference is the front bumper being extended to the fenders and the absence of the roof running lights. Of course the concept has a lot more flashy stuff on it. All concepts do (I have been going to auto shows all of my life, by the way).

As far as size, it looks about right to me. Also, I have no idea where you're getting the idea this is "expensive-looking." It certainly doesn't to me. The 4Runner looks more up-scale, in my opinion.
