Finally found the leak problem in the rear of my 2004 Quest SEL. Each time I put my boat in the water, water pours in from below the rear seat well. Now my rear door strut is making noises. Maybe next time I launch the boat I will just continue backing into the water. Then the winshied wipers can truly clean the windshield for the first time.

My dealer's service writer called and said that our '04 Quest SE, with 32,000miles, in for an oil change and tire rotation, needed new brakes, front and rear. She said the rears were "paper thin," and the fronts not too far behind.
She also said the dealership recommended a flushing of the transmission fluid at
30,000 miles, to the tune of $150.
Isn't 32,000 miles early for new brakes? Our Quest does a mixture of gentle highway and "city" driving.
Also, has anyone else heard of changing the transmission fluid at 30,000 miles?
  • cirrusscirruss Member Posts: 87
If you have the SE model, you should have alloy rims where you can see through the spokes and see how much pad is left on the brake. You can also take it to another Nissan dealer and do the oil change and tire rotation (while they have the tires off, ask them to inspect how much pad is left). As for the transmission flush, check your maintenance book for the scheduled service (I am not home to check for you). Some Nissan dealers pay there service advisor a small commission for every type of flush they sell. I have a personal friend that works at a Nissan dealer and this friend regularly sells a lot of flushes $$$. But you should follow Nissan's maintenance schedule book as this is what the manufacturer recommends (not the dealer).

That sounds like something my dealer would do, to take 30 minutes to deliver the vehicle and forget to check things. I have big a really big Nissan advocate ever since I got my 2004 S, but the service department is killing me. Got a broken latch on the glove box (the one on top, ont he driver side). It's a long story, but they told me it would take an hour. 90 minutes later I return and they haven't even started and tell me that they will never be able to do anything in less than 2.5 hours... Even the oil change took half a day and I had to take their crummy little courtesy van to my office and back... And this dealer has the Nissan "circle of excellence" award, or whatever the heck they call it. I think they need to raise their standards. I am going to try anothe dealer. I still recommend the Quest to friends, mine has been generally problem-free (except for this little issue), and my salesman was good. It's the best van for the money. But after my experience and many things I have read online, I cannot recommend the service. Driving home from that, it made me think my next car will be an expensive luxury car, just so I can sit in the fancy lounge and drink quality coffee or get a free loaner car, like they all advertise on the radio. A pre-owned Acura or something...

Hi! I am writing directly to "jbr01". My wife and I have the same problem with the A/C. The Nissan dealer we I bought my Quest from deny's that anything is wrong with the air. I would like to ask of you the steps you have taken if any other than what you stated about the tv news and newspaper. My wife doesn't even drive our NISSAN QUEST because it is so uncomfortable to drive with the heat. My wife says the kids are sweating when she gets them out of the van even after 20 minutes of driving to her mothers house and from there they take her moms TOYOTA SIENNA to where ever they go for the day. Also, do you have and issue with the overhead lights the run along the side in the center and rear seating area? I would appreciate any information in resolving my issue with the A/C. We are quite disappointed with our quest. NISSAN QUEST :confuse:   :lemon:

I'm pleased to report a happy ending, though - I called again and the mechanic at the desk said to bring it in, he looked at it right away, took it upstairs himself and tightened the bolt properly. Took 10 minutes.

Of course I noticed something on the way out - according to the mpg readout I'm now getting ~6mpg in the city (NYC, AC on high, 90 degrees, 300% humidity, stop-and-go, more stop than go...) Yikes. I'll have to check again when I'm out on the highway later today.
  • plashenickplashenick Member Posts: 165
I followed the thread about the hatch bolt; dealer taking 30 minutes to bring the car up and it reminded me of an incident I had with Ford years ago.

I had an 89 For Probe LX. The problems with that car make the Quest look trouble free. One of the many issues was that the trip computer display blew a light bulb. It took three visits for them to see where the display actually is. They kept saying everything is good: they were looking at the digital dashboard.

I brought the General Manager out to my car to show her it was still broken (trip computer). She arranged for a loaner and took the car back. The next day I got "the" call: 'everything looks fine'. I made it simple for them. I asked them to go into the car, look at the radio, let their gaze travel up until they hit the windshield, then look down a few inches - I walked him through this on a cell phone. - and amazingly he actually says, "Hey, the light for display is out". I do not believe their is an IQ test for this position.

Maybe one day Quality will be an actual job.

By way of update, my '04 Quest A/C that once performed miserably is still cooling quite well (not as well as other cars I've had, but well enough to be satisfied with it--1000% better than what it was doing!). It's now been over a month in the hot Texas summer and the repair I mentioned earlier seems to have fixed the problem. Some of you guys might try to suggest it to your dealership's mechanic and maybe your A/C will also improve.

My 1995 Nissan Quest Van would not start...The battery is ok.........I tapped the starter with a hammer while my son turned the ignition and it Started.....but a few minutes later it would not start..........Should I and How do you change the Starter...or do I have another problem?????????
  • jrodenjroden Member Posts: 8
Well, I wanted to update. I've been in 7 times for a door rattle now and opened a case with nissan. they replaced all the seals and sent a specialist up from the factory and kept the car for two days at this time replaced the dovetails with new redesigned model. Van was great for 3 weeks, then started to rattle again. Called Nissan back, they told me that was all they would do and there is nothing else to do. If the rattle annoys me enough, I'll pursue a lemon lay claim, it only has 9000 miles, boy never again with Nissan, my mistake.

I just took my 2005 Quest in for an oil change and I asked them to check the passenger window for a wind noise. I ended up getting the typical "we can't seem to find it" response. I only seem to get it when either it's a windy day or I'm driving on the highway. Is this just me being fussy or is this a normal sound for the Quest. If it is an actual problem, does anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to find the source of the air leak? Do wind deflectors or vent visors do anything to help wind noise? Thanks.

Hi - Thanks very much for your instructions, they were most helpfull.
However I am now stuck because I can't find the fuse that powers the "For Towing" wire located in the left rear compartment.
Can you assist with locating this fuse - All fuses seem to be in place under the hood and under the dashboard

There is Service Bulletin Number 04030 at nissanhelp web site entitled "WHISTLE NOISE FROM DOOR MIRROR" that may help you. Here is the link:

I hope this is of some help to you.
  • foamy59foamy59 Member Posts: 6
Cancel my last note - I found the fuse, it was on a second fuse board to the right of the engine (When looking from the front of the car)
All hitch electrics now working just fine - once again thanks for the install tips.

If you got 32000 miles out of your brakes, you are doing well. Had new front rotors put on at 4200 miles, now the fronts are warped again and I was told that my rear brakes are also very thin, which is warping my rear rotors. I only have 17700 miles on mine( actually 13500 on the front rotors). Nissan wants over $400 to resurface all four rotors and put new pads on the back. Has anyone ever heard of rear brake pads wearing out before the fronts?? Isn't there a 60-40 split between the front and rear(or something like that)? I have never had rear brakes go before the fronts.
  • lumbarlumbar Member Posts: 421
Are you getting "feedback" (pulsing) from your brake pedal indicating that there is warping? Also, and I'm not saying this is true in your case, some mechanics are resurface-happy when it comes to rotors, which sometimes can do more harm than good. As far as the front v rear pads, it sounds unusual. What did they do on the front when you had the first issue? BTW, this is pretty good on rotors FWIW (geared to Ford but generally applicable). It's worth paying for good ones if they are replaced. Also the manner of servicing is important..

    Rotors
  • cirrusscirruss Member Posts: 87
Typically the fronts should wear quicker than the rear. As to how quickly the pads wear out, this could also be related to how much heavy braking you do or riding and the type of driving you do (stop and go in the city). The reason most shops resurface the rotor whenever they do brake job is because then they will be sure that the new pads will be rubbing on near flat rotors and therefore not worry about customers coming back complaining there new brakes aren't working properly. Resurfacing is typically a good practice, but of course you decrease the longevity of your rotors. The person that said the dealer quoted $400 for resurfacing the rotors, you have 2 options, one is to think about replacing it with new rotors all together for that price, the other is just go to a smaller mechanic shop have them do it - they may charge $60-80 for resurfacing.
  • vger105vger105 Member Posts: 57
There was no pulsing of the brake pedal so I assume I've yet to experience the warping rotors. I did have the dealer put on the new brakes and flush the transmission ($150).
Apparently the brakes can go that early (32K mi.), but I'm perplexed as to why the rears would wear quicker than the fronts.
I'm now annoyed that I had the transmission flushed as it's not part of Nissan's recommended service at 30K miles. Also, Nissan wants to do a TUNEUP at 30K miles in addition to replacing the spark plugs. A tuneup? What could they possibly do; the timing is computer-controlled, there are no points to replace, etc.
  • LDegrelleLDegrelle Member Posts: 74
I'm in no way an expert, so if this is stupid please forgive me.

Is there any way to get some kind of heavier-duty brakes for the Nissan? Or is it one of those things where only a certain size will fit and that would be the stock Nissan brakes? Obviously you couldn't go for Bembro racing brakes but is there something else that could be substituted? Or does this void warranty or something?
  • cirrusscirruss Member Posts: 87
There is no major tune up to do at 30k. I just checked the Nissan website and for 30k, it only recommends replacing the air filter, pcv, and rotate tires. I just replaced my air filter at 23k on my Quest for $10 from Walmart. The plugs in the Quest is platinum plugs and should be good for at least 80k. Even if your service advisor recommends the service, you can say NO. Just follow the Nissan service and maintenance guide and you will be fine.

    Hi all,

Sometimes ago, there was a lot of discussion about the tires to replace the original set on Quest, mostly focusing on the ones on S, or SL. If I read these post correctly there is a bit more options to replace tires on a 05 SE model, since the size is a bit different. Has any owner of a SE recently replaced his/her van tires? When did you replace them (mileage), and are you happy with the new set? Thanks for sharing the info.

I get a vibration in the steering wheel when I apply the brakes that disappears when I let off the brakes, so I am pretty sure they are warped. I am going to try to call the 800 NIssan number to see if they are having any major issues with the brakes on these vehicles, because replacing them every 16 or 18000 is crazy. I have a 2005 Altima that get driven the same way as my van, has almost 11000 miles on it and has no issues with the brakes. I just think that the van is too heavy for the type of brakes that are on it. I don't tow anything with it or haul heavy weight, so I'm not stressing the brakes any more than they should be able to withstand. When I do take it to have the brakes done, it will not be at the dealer. The only time the dealer will see this van is for warranty claims( which unfortunatly might be pretty frequently). ;)

Our Quest has the same mysterious faint beep when the A/C is on. We took it to the dealer and they could not duplicate--of course! When we left the dealership it beeped 5 times in less than 2 miles, so we went back and picked up a technician to ride with us--then it stopped beeping--of course! Needless to say, we are very frustrated.

I printed out your (pepperman) post, highlighted your diagnosis and took it to them--they still couldn't duplicate it and said that our van did not have the problem that your van was diagnosed with. They asked if I could get some detailed information from your paperwork to help them diagnose our van's problem. Please email me (fotoflores@kconline.com) and if you're willing to help, I'll give you a fax number to fax the paperwork to. I guess they're looking for codes and stuff from your dealership.

Thanks, pepperman, and anyone else who can help!

Has anyone installed a window deflector / vent visor on their Quest. Did it make a difference as far as wind noise goes?
  • wendymwendym Member Posts: 2
Nissan just doesn't get it with service, do they? Have an '04 Quest, bought 11/03 and, as much as I love the luxury of it, when something goes wrong, it really goes wrong! Within a month of owning, BOTH sliding doors had to be replaced. There have been a multitude of other issues (shakes, door rattles, transmission shifting, etc.) but no issue with A/C at all. Now it's in the shop because it broke down while I was traveling with kids and a dog. The engine completely shut down and the garage that looked at it definitely said it was an issue with the exhaust. Took it to the dealership and, too bad for me, the ONE master tech is out until Thurs.
Huge error in buying Nissan, won't do it again and will do my damndest to make sure no one else I know will do it either.
  • wendymwendym Member Posts: 2
After reading several messages on this board, it is obvious to me that the catalytic converter is a problem with the 2004 Quest. What the hell is wrong with Nissan, do they embrace the idea of losing customer after customer?? I just had mine fixed after experiencing the same sort of event as 'blarney', on a highway, trucks barreling up behind me, no power, down to 20mph if I could even get that much. It's too bad because the Quest is a fun vehicle to drive, lots of lux, lots of room. But dependable?? Not on your life, the key word being life!!
  • pernaperna Member Posts: 521
My folks have owned several minivans, and after the initial brakes wear out, my dad replaces the factory rotors with cross-drilled Brembos. No manufacturer, it seems, realizes how much stress minivans loaded up with junk place on the vehicles' braking systems. Before they bought their Quest they had a Pontiac Montana, and the original brakes on that thing were downright dangerous. It took FOREVER to stop the vehicle.

    Hi Eyeblind,

Rather than go thru my litany of complaints, I'll give you guys an update my my '04 SL experience:

    - 14,000+ so far.
    - At about 8,600 miles, Goodyear replaced all four tires due to out of balance condition. I had the classic vibration problems. My local dealer did some load balancing, but that did not help.
    - Problem got a little better with the new tires, but was still present. It would come & go. I think the van has some resonant vibration conditions.
    - I recently had and oil change, and had them check the wheel alignment. Even though the van mostly tracked straight on the highway, they found both the front & rear wheels were significantly out of alignment. At this point, the new tires had around 3000-4000 miles on them, but tread wear looked OK. This alignment fix significantly improved and solved the vibration problem.
    - I get a high chirping sound when the van hits a hard bump. I think it is the sissor jack stand squeeking in the foam folder. Anyone find this problem? I could be wrong...
    - And the right rear door seems to have an intermittent vibration noise on the highway. It is not really a rattle as much as a rubbing-noise. Seems to be the plastic window frame vibrating against the plastic interior of the door. My kid can stop the noise by pressing the too together. ???
    - The heat on my foot is still a %$#%^^#$%$#% problem. I find the AC works BEST when the knob is turned to MAX setting. This is significantly better than any other setting, such as with the big AC button pressed and recirc ON. In fact, you can tell the difference between any setting and the MAX AC setting. Nissan's inane engineering team really screwed up this design. I hope they have to suffer with one of these vehicles. The only real fix (IMHO) is to re-route the coolant hose & bypass the heater core with a few manual valves . I am still considering this fix after the summer ends. Ironically, the AC on MAX runs very nicely. But as soon as I turn on vent air with no AC, the damn heat turns on instantly. So the only two operable settings are: AC MAX, and zero fan blower & recirc, which STOPS all air flow from the vents. This at least stops the hot air, and I open the windows.
    - And lastly, I hate the front seat. Too much lumbar. Bottom seat cushion is pretty good- nice & soft, But the back is a killer. Can anyone really lean back & touch the head rest with their head and be comfortable? I am looking for a replacement driver seat back to replace. I already tried a Accord seat & Sable, both from a junk yard. One's too hard, the other too soft. Now I'm looking at after-market van replacement seat. Ugh. I hate this van, but my family loves it. God, I hope I survive a few years so I can get rid of it. This is my first & will be my last Nissan.

When you fill up the tank, you must shut down the vehicle completely. You can not leave the key in the accessory spot. The same thing happened to me when I first filled up and I took it to the dealer and of course no problem found. It took a while for the tank to read full, I mean about a full day. So I make sure that I take the key out when
I fill up and all the gauges are shut down. I haven't had a problem since. The doors
will always rattle a little. These vans have large openings and the body flexes when you go over bumps or driveways. No matter what the dealer does I don't believe the rattles will go away. It's a little convertables, the body flexes alot on those so there will always be some rattling.

Other then that I love this van, I take it from my wife a few times a week to drive, and I let here drive my Murano. It's just lots of fun to drive....

That's my two cents... take care

I installed my window ventvisor yesterday and it works great! I noticed that it cut down on wind noise considerably. For some reason the wind always seemed to hiss at the top of the driver/passenger window. Now it's gone. This is the visor that I purchased (not from this site):

Sitting at home for second day now as my 2004 was towed to the dealer because I was unable to get the van to start. A call this morning from the dealership states that the problem is the fuel pump. I told the dealer I felt lucky as I had just gotten back from a 2,700 mile road trip the day before and had a problem the night before in Nevada with starting the van in the morning. I was able to get it to start for me after many attempts and drove the remaining 10 hour drive with no problems until I tried to start it the next morning in my driveway. The dealer did mention that a "on the road" repair has been done by crawling under the van and pounding on the gas tank with a rubber mallet. That sure sounds like a fun thing to do!
  • kcskcs Member Posts: 2
I have EXACTLY the same problem in my 2004 Quest (now up to 25000+ mi). I took it to my Nissan Dealer 2 weeks ago and while it was in the shop I read your email note. So, I asked the service manager to check the adjustment of the brake lamp switch - which he said they did do, I also got the tires balanced, trying to stop the periodic vibration which occurs about every 300 - 500 miles. He contacted the Nissan Tech Support, who offered no help at all on what the cause of the periodic vibration could be/and said they had no records of this particular problem. At any rate, before I took the Quest in: at highway speeds the vibrations would last roughly 3 minutes and would become severe when the brake was applied. The vibration would go away for no apparent reason. AFTER I got the Quest back the intensity of the vibration was much less, probably down by 40 or 50 per cent, BUT the duration is longer- 12 minutes now, when the brake is applied the vibration increases, but is not as bad as it was originally. I haven't yet driven enough additional miles to see how often the vibration occurs. But one thing is clear, the problem still exists. I was asked to keep a log by my Nissan Service Manager on the vibrations (outside temperature, speed, duration of vibrations) which I am doing. He will call tech support again with any additional info I give him. Would you have any additional suggestions for me based on your experience? Is your Nissan still cured?
  • eyeblindeyeblind Member Posts: 156
    Hey samuelg,

Glad to here they FINALLY resolved your vibration problem. I had no vibration till just over 13,000 miles. After that, on a trip to San Diego, it quickly deteriorated. Steering wheel vibrated, the drivers seat vibrated ( at highway speed.) Even sitting in the 3rd row felt like a vibrating chair on low. I took it to the dealer to have them check the balance. They could not get the tires to balance. They didn't have a ROAD FORCE balance machine, so I took it to Discount tires. They did the road force balance, even taking off the wheel and checking the round ot the rim. They could not get two of the tires to balance ( the two rear tires.) So, I had them replace those two tires under warranty prorated for miles and over a year old. I paid $42.50 for each tire. My brief initial highway road test was positive. We will see how things go over time.
Haven't heard the chripping sound over large bumps. The heat on the foot thing doesn't really bother me. I know it is there, but it doesn't blow hard enough for me to notice very often. I live in Phoenix and if I'm not working, I'm in flip flops 100% of the time. Not Rattles to speak of . I had a slight rattle about 5 months ago, in the drivers side sliding door. A little WD 40 and I haven't heard it for 6 months.
I agree with you on the warm vent air with no A/C running. I don't understand how they could have messed that one up. No car I've ever had has had that problem. That being said, the A/C works fine here in Phoenix. We've had the hottest July on record.
I'm sorry to hear you hate this van so much. I probably love this van as much as you hate it. At least your family can get some enjoyment out of it.

I checked with several Nissan dealers about adding the Sirrus Satellite option to my 2004 Nissan Quest, it has the SAT option on the radio. Each one quoted me more than $600! That's just too much! I see people getting full sat systems in their other brand vehicles for half that and even receivers at Walmart for less than $100 (although I realize they are not much).

I don't really want to use that FM transmitter on the portable units as I hear that they so not sound that great and can have interference.

Has anyone tried hooking up to the DVD player (I have one factory installed) A/V jacks directly and using that connection or is that possible? Would the DVD player then be on all the time in order to use that?

Anyone know of any other options, can I buy and install the SAT unit myself?

    Hi Eyeblind,

I guess I was in a sour mood when I last posted...my harsh feelings about this van stem from:
    1) Nissan's inept support.
    2) My back pain from driving this van.

Lately, tweaking the seat has helped & I may miraculously get it "ok" sometime soon. I readily admit I am more of the problem than the seat itself...

I highly suggest you get the wheel alignment checked since you have the new set of tires-- I had the same situation, where many of the tires could not be properly balanced after approximately 8600 miles. Good luck.

Wow, it's amazing how similar our experiences are, not only the pattern of the vibrations, but the reaction of the service department. They too asked me to keep a log and got no help over the phone from Nissan Tech Support. I wish I could offer you some specific suggestions beyond those in my last post, but really the only way I eventually got it fixed was to take it in so often the dealer was forced to throw in the towel, admit they were clueless, and bring NTS on-site to check the problem out themselves. Like I said before, it took NTS a month to get to my van, but within two hours it was fixed. I'm coming up on 2000 miles since the fix and my Quest is running better than ever, with absolutely no hint of a vibration.

We're leaving on vacation this weekend, and I'll post any developments (I don't expect any). When I get back, if you're still having problems I can try and scan my service records in and e-mail them to you to see if that helps your dealer. Sorry I can't be more help. Good luck. I can definitely feel your pain.

I use the FM modulator method of receiving the signal through the car's stereo, and have absolutely no trouble with it-great reception,no static, and superb sound.
It was incredibly easy to installand wecouldn't behappier with it.
Let me know if I can be of further help to you.

My wife's 2004 Quest has received it's 4th cracked windshield yesterday. The first was simply a rock on the right side. However, 3 have all started on the lower left edge, facing the car, and therefore appear to be stress cracks. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

My wife and I recently noticed a scraping sound from the right side (sliding door?) at highway speeds on our 05 Quest SE. Is anyone else experiencing these problems? One time I discovered my son had accidentally dropped a marble outside the track of the sliding door. No encore marble appearance this time. I am having the dealership check it out this weekend. We love our Q!!! Thanks! :)

If you get multiple windshield failures, 90+% of the time it is a problem in installation.
  • kcskcs Member Posts: 2
Thanks for your note and encouragement. Since my last note the vibration occured 3 more times (every 220 to 280 or so miles) and now lasting about 8 minutes each time-always at highway speeds (betw 60 to 75 mph), always worsening when the brakes are applied -- but not as severe as before I took the Quest in. Thanks for the offer to share the info on your service papers. I'll wait for one more occurence and then call my Nissan dealer with the info and see what he and tech support can figure out. I'll let you know what happens (if anything). Glad to hear your Nissan is still cruising smoothly, it gives me hope.">

We just bought the 2005 Quest SL and we love it... with one exception. When driving at 2000 rpm (either accelerating or decelerating to), there is a vibration in the floor coupled with a louder than normal torque/rev sound. Although it's not as significant as some of the vibration problems that I have read, it's certainly annoying.

I took it back to the dealer and I drove 2 other 05 SL's and they behaved the same way. The tech told me that there is nothing in "the book" on this and there doesn't appear to be any problem with the engine or transmission. He said it appears to be "normal". For a new $30K vehicle, it's doesn't seem normal to me.

I found a Nissan Service Bulletin indicating that the 2004 SE built before January 2004, had a "booming noise and/or floor vibration at about 2,000 RPM" because a mass damper needed to be installed onto an exhaust hanger (???). Could this somehow be related?
My feeling is that there is something that needs to be adjusted, but until they get a Bulletin from Nissan, there's nothing that can be done and I guess that would only happen if enough people complain to Nissan N.A.

I'd appreciate any info/feedback or suggestions or to find out if anyone else has experienced this.

I own a 2005 Quest 3.5S with 3500 miles. I started to get a vibration in steering wheel upon braking also could feel the vibration at highway speed in the steering wheel. I called the dealer and got in the next day. The dealer was well aware of this problem. They used a on the vehicle rotor lathe. It took one hour while I waited. The brakes are fine now. I decided to do some research on this problem. I found why this problem occurs, lateral run out on installation of rotor. Go to www.performanceoiltechnology.com/brakingsystems.htm and read this article. It speaks of the PRO-CUT hub mounted computer controlled on vehicle brake lathe. Now go to www.procutinternational.com click on awards/evaluations, look down the list to Nissan TSB 04066. This is the only fix Nissan warranty will pay for. It seem that the rotors are of good quality, the problem is in the installation of the rotors, over torqued lug nuts etc. This Pro-Cut tool is mandated by most all major vehicle companies. The tool costs $8000.00.

The window lock button does not illuminate. You will find this on most Nissan. Why? I don't know, maybe it's not used often enough to jusitfy putting a bulb under it.

    Hi ToddM,

    Check my posting, # 1409.

I know it is unusual for an out of alignment condition to manifest itself as vibration. I felt vibration up thru the steering wheel, and thru the floor. Plus a side-to-side wiggling. It made my calves shake...

My experience is, after re-balancing tires N times, and then replacing all four tires, the alignment (which did show both the front & rear whells to be out) made a dramatic improvement and ultimately fixed the problem. I have since driven over a thousand highway miles, and the van is extremely smooth.

And of course, Nissan was cluesless. They did load balancing, and diligently checked all bolted connections on the front end to see if anything was loose. But they neglected to check the wheel alignment. I did it on my nickel, on a lark while getting the oil changed at a local tire store. Best $40 I spent in a long time, plus 3 year warranty.

After thinking about it, I can see how mis-aligned wheels could cause the tires to wear, and then get out of balance. Oddly, the van tracked pretty straight on the highway, both before and after the alignment.

    Good luck.

I have my 04 Nissan Quest for more than 6 months now and on the third month since I bought it I also noticed a vibrating noise coming from underneath the vehicle. It starts at around 2000 rpm you'll notice it everytime you accelerate. It sounds like the heat shield is vibrating. I took it to the dealer for 3 times and they keep telling me its all gone after they fix it, but everytime I drive it its still there. They even told me that the next time I bring it in, theyll have to replace the exhaust system and charge me for it. I think the vehicle is still in warranty, but I dont know why.And one thin I notice too is that a portion of my exhaust pipe is flatened. Should'nt that obstruct exhaust flow and hinder the vehicle's performance? Could anybody check their exhaust pipes if a portion is flattened and let me know coz to me it dosnt make sense. Marc.

I turned in my quest for good yesterday...... Nissan, only after a year of fighting with them, have bought it back under the :lemon: law. I am glad to be rid of it, and only hope that my next vehicle will not be any problems, I am not sure any can be as bad as the quest was! If you have enough problems with your 04 quest as I did, don't give up if you really want it gone. Good luck to everyone who has and are still having problems.
