I have a 2009 Aveo5 2LT. Is there a way to disable the horn honk when locking the doors with the remote? It is really annoying. Just the lights flashing like my Yaris does would be fine. Thanks.

Hey. Well I cant believe that I have actually kept my Aveo 3 years. I never keep a car or truck 3 years, past its bumper to bumper warranty time. But with the economy and all..well I might keep it a while longer. I had a question about the warranty. is buying an extended warranty..NOT from GM,from another company worth the money? My parents bought one, at my insistance, for their 98 Ford Escort, and it was half the price of one from Ford. Anyway, they used it just as it was about to run out of coverage, so it basically paid for itself in the replacement of the transmission. But so far, other than the damn hatch not opening ,and the tires going bald after 7,000 mile, and me buying new ones that are still as new as the day I bought them a year ago! Crappy tires on the Aveo!! So no mechanical troubles.

I havent had a single mechanical problem with the car. Just the hatch not opening, which has been fixed, and the tires, which I have replaced. So...is it worth it to buy an extended warranty for the car? From an after market company, NOT GM. I might keep it 6 more months, I might keep it a year. I have been thinking about getting a year old HHR instead. To have a bigger 'car', and hopefully 2 years more warranty on a car. or whatever it is considered to be. But I dont know if they are reliable,or fun to drive or if they ride like a truck or a car or anything about them.

And I am at a whopping 11,000 miles at the 3 year mark, no mechanical problems, minor interior issues that annoy me, but I have 2 months left to get them fixed. So..if spending like $800-1100 for a 5 year more warranty worth it...even though I might only keep it a year at most. Thats all I can seem to find...nothing shorter. I have never in 30 years of driving not had a warranty covered car. Or should I trade in and get myself a Honda Accord, that I have wanted for 20 years!! They never brake down. My Civic never did..and that is the only car I kept for 5 years, in my life!

If my Aveo got 30 mpg like it is suppose to, I would keep it and get the warranty. But at 18-20 at the most, and that is by driving like an old lady, it isn't a super economy car. I rather have a Yaris! Or an HHR if I am going to get 18mpg. Any opinions? I have 2 months left to go..and I do that the powertrain coverage that I didnt know I had! Till 2011? I think that is what GM customer service just told me. So the transmission is STILL covered at least! So...what should I do? :confuse:

Well if I keep my Aveo,...I need to know if my engine is suppose to sound like it does. I will take it in to have it looked at in the next 2 months, while I have a warranty. BUT, since it has been 'winter' here in south Fla., I know it isn't cold. But I could actually drive without the A/C on and the windows down. So I finally heard what the engine sounds like. And it sounds like a turbo!, When I push it under HEAVY acceleration. Is that what the little engine in our Aveos' sound like? It sounds like a turbo spooling up, if I push it hard to pass someone. It makes this whining sound. Then it is gone when I am just driving regular. I honestly have never heard it before, since I always have the A/C on and the windows up. But under HEAVY acceleration, it sounds like a turbo! Thats the only way I can describe it. Light acceleration, and it doesn't make any noise. But push it hard and it sounds like a turbo engine! Not much more power, but it does move!

So..do our engines sound like this under heavy acceleration? Or do I have a problem?

And also. At 3 years,BUT ONLY 11,000 miles, do I worry about replacing the timing belt, or do I follow the 60K mile replacement that everyone talks about? I figure that with such low mileage, I wait till I hit the 60K mark...right? Or does the 3 years make a difference? :confuse: :confuse: Guess thats enough questions. any input would be great.

When I bought my Aveo hatchback, one of my reasons was to buy American. I was disgusted when I learned it was manufactured in Korea. If the information provided from one of the participants in this discussion is correct, the Aveo will now be made in Canada and Mexico. Maybe that will fix some of the problems that have been discussed, such as stalling (in a separate group discussion under "stalling"). The main purpose of this message, however, is to let everyone who read my comments on stalling know that the problem was me, not the car. I had the ignition switch key dangling from a key case as I drove, and the motion of its swinging caused the engine to cut off. It turns out that has been a more frequent problem than reported. It results from an overly sensitive ignition switch. Perhaps that problem will be corrected with new manufacturers. In the meantime, anyone experiencing this problem will have to take the key out of a key case or off a key chain and just insert the unsupported key in the ignition switch.

To buy a car because it is made in America like a Honda or a Toyota is not smart. Yes, many Honda and Toyota are made in the USA. Blind nationalism is what brought American cars into the craps. The Aveo is a great car at great price.

People who don't support their country and think of themselves over anything else are the problem. When a country produces similar or better quality products and people still ignore because of false perceptions, fancy marketing by others, or like a friend of mine - status symbol, that is the problem.

It's good to see Toyota in financial trouble also. They are asking their government for 2-billion as of this week.

After 50s K miles, one of my tire's valve started to leak. I changed all 4 tires. The tire place had only 195s, so I bought them. Wider tires are nice, but my bad mpg went down more.

When did you guys changed your timimg belt? right on 60K miles?
  • c118fec118fe Member Posts: 23
Were those "original" tires? I got 20k-front,31k rear.Plan to change belt at 57k. :)

Those were original tires. They looked used but not completely gone. I think I could have 10K or 15K miles more out of those tires until that air leaked.

They do that on purpose. The whole idea is to say that they don't know what's wrong until you either get frustrated and give up...or you run out of your warranty and then you have no rights as a consumer under the california lemon law...even though these cars are lemons. I've had my second engine break down on me and I'm still paying on the car. I refuse to pay the payments on it anymore because I've had to put more money into the car than I've made on payments.

I went to class action world and I am trying to start a class action suit because there was a recall on chevy aveos for the idler/timing belt problem but only for specific cars....problem is...the problem is on all of their engines for chevy aveos and they know it. We just need enough people to come forward.
  • jesicrakerjesicraker Member Posts: 3
I full on agree with you. I will not reccomend a purchase of a chevy aveo, the timing belt / idler issue is very dangerous because when the idler gets stuck at full-throttle, the timing belt snaps and your car cannot go any more. I've r..on the road that can be life threatening. I have replaced one engine so far and the second motor did the same thing to me. I had to replace the engine myself at 98,000 miles because it was no longer under warranty. I've put so much money into this car it isn't even funny and I'm done with it completely. I still owe money on the loan but it is that bad that I am going to leave it on the side of the road and wait for the loan company to reposess it. That's how extreme it is. GM will do nothing to make up for their faulty engines if you are past warranty and they like to pretend that there is nothing going on with their cars. They are dangerous.

I contacted class action world and am interested in having others make a complaint and join in on a class action suit with GM because they are screwing people.

Have an 05 Aveo w/76,000m to date. Base model without ABS. Lately, when started and first put into gear the brakes are not responsive for a half minute or so. The pedal gets very hard to depress and will not come to a complete stop. This is not every start but at least 3-4 out of ten. Does return to operate normal (when it wakes up) System has recently been flushed (problem existed before) and the brake h/w, drums and pads are good. Anyone else get this? Suggested repairs?

Hey all. My 2006 Aveo JUST ran out of its 3 year warranty...1 week ago! and of course, now it has its first mechanical problem! I only have 11,650 miles on it to! Maybe someone can tell me whats going on. It was running fine until this morning. I started it and it started to act tlike it was stalling, so I push on the gas pedal and it died! Usually if i do that it revs up to like 6,000, I restarted it and it revved up and down between 1,000rpm's and 200 rpms' a few times, then it stayed at the 'normal' 800 rpms that it usually goes to when it first starts and when it is warmed up, it idles at 800 rpms, it still runs smooth as silk and fast if i push the gas pedal down as I drive. But today, everytime I had to stop at a light, it would rev up and down a bit and almost stall...unless i giggled the gas pedal a few times, then it would stay running. It runs fine and takes off like a rocket, as usual, when I push on the pedal to pass or go up a hill, it still goes and has fine pickup. BUT it almost stalls when I start from a stopped position. As long as I keep it in neutral at the stop lights, and giggle the gas pedal it stays running. If i take my foot off the pedal it stays running, but when I get started to go, it almost stalls,it drops down to about 200 rpms, and then it takes off!

I get the feeling it is one of 3 things, either a fuel pump problem, clogged injectors, or a tank of bad gas. I put about 7 gallons in it yesterday, from a station I go to nearly all the time. BUT it was running fine until I filled up yesterday. So that makes me think it is bad gas, with dirt or water in it? BUT if the gas is bad, and it clogged up the injectors, wouldnt it run bad all the time? It runs fine once I get going, it is as fast/smooth as usual.

Below 15mph, it chugs and almost stalls, unless I giggle the gas pedal. Anyone have any ideas? Does the 50,000 mile powetrain warranty cover the fuel system? I intend to call GM tomorrow and ask them, but does anyone know what this could be IF it isnt covered? The warranty ended just 1 week ago,and it only has 11,000 miles on it! It shouldnt have this problem, and i shouldnt have to fix a problem like this. But if i do..I have put in a bottle of concentrated fuel system cleaner, hoping if it is clogged injectors this stuff might work. I doubt it will, but I have used it before and its only $8.00.

But does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? It runs fine once i get going. It doesnt backfire or anything like that. Did i get a bad load of gas? Is it the fuel filter, that I hear is IN the gas tank...THAT is that would be VERY expensive to be replaced and i wont put in that kind of money for a repair. I'd trade it in on something else. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

Well my car wouldnt start the next day. It ended up costing me $190 total. the repair was free! The money went to 'roadside assistance towing', from my home to the dealer, 2 miles away, loosing a days work, taking a cab to the dealership to pick uo the car...15 mins after it was towed to the dealership, it was 'fixed'! The problem was a stupid vacuum hose. and I mean the tiniest, thinnest, shortest vacuum hose on the car! That little thin tiny hose, if you can call it hose, cause it to stall and not run at all. Once I got it started ,I revved it to 6k, and it went a whopping 4mph! This tiny little hose is on the top of the engine right next to the firewall on the top of the engine and it just fell off. All they did was reconnect it and it now runs perfect! Then they tell me that they are finding out the ALL Aveos have this problem happening to them after the first year, a lot! The rubber ends just fall off the plastic part they are connected to, the vacuum hose is a hard plastic and is half as thick as spagettii, about 6in long, and it just fell off. so, yesterday it must have been FALLING off but still attached, since it ran...but then it fell off completely and it would run for anything. My warranty JUST ended like 2 weeks ago, and this happened.
Luckily it was a 'free' fix. But IF it had been a costly repair,GM said they would have paid for it or paid up to 99% of it, since I have such low miles, and that my warranty had just run out, and they have a 'payment assistance program', I didnt know about that...did any of you?? That helps people pay for costly repairs. Anyway, a stupid tiny vacuum hose, that fell off cause all this havoc! I can only imgine what happens when something BIG goes wrong! Wow!

Anyone notice in Chevy's print and television ads the Aveo is nowhere to be found. I wonder why. Any thoughts?
  • grace4evergrace4ever Member Posts: 30
I agree. I have never seen them advertised and when I was looking for a small car to buy I just happen to stumble on the Aveo. I had never heard of it and assumed it was a "new" chevy model when in fact the dealer said it had been out since 2004. What a surprise! I did buy one but still have never heard of any advertising of it. crazy

    I'm thinking of buying a 2009 or 2010 Aveo 5.
I'm in my 50's and all or children are moved out.
How does this car handle on the highway?
    In the snow?
Is it powerful enough for luggage and such for a cross country trip? (new-york state - - - california) I have to cross the rockies.
I've never owned a car before only vans and S.U.V.'s
I want something economical, dependable and safe.
I need help and advice with my decision.
    Thank you!

Well, I have had my Aveo now for almost 4 years and it has served me really well! I have a very basic model. I have almost put on 110 000km so far and alllllllll I do is travel in it. The fuel consumption is amazingly light.
I live in Calgary, Canada, so, driving in snow (and through the Canadian Rockies) is something I can totally attest to. As long as you have a good set of winter tires, you are fine. Not one accident/near miss to date (touch wood). The trunk is kinda tiny, but you can always put the back seats down and pack to your hearts content. I have moved 4 times, using my car as my moving truck. lol. I actually folded the back seats down and fitted a patio table and 4 chairs in there. It was impressive really!! The interior is very spacious, even thought it seems small from the outside. No problem with tall people knocking their heads on the roof or anything like that. Sometimes in windy conditions it is a little sketch, as the car is really light and if there is a big enough gust, you really feel it. Or like a big semi passing by...but, not like you are gonna fly off the road or anything, you can just fill it pull a bit.
All in all, i think it is the ideal economical, dependable and safe car.
My car is paid off next year and I have no intention of replacing it! I have only had a few minor repairs that I had to make on it. Just make sure you watch the warranty program correctly, and you will have no problems.
Good luck. You cant really go wrong.
  • yngwieyngwie Member Posts: 16
I have a 07 Aveo 5 and I love it. Living in the Philly subuebs there is not alot of snow experience to speak of,but the car drives well and is roomier than it appears. My last 2 cars were Crown Victoria's so I really down sized. I drive about 75% highway and my fuel mpg's are averaging 33 mph! I call this car "McDonald's" because I'm Loving it!

    Thank you (lynet_rob)

Calgary...what a nice place, we went there in 1980 for the "Stampede" and my brother in law lives in Red Deer and also lived in Olds. He might work in Fort McMurray next year.
I was born and still living in Ottawa, Ontario.
We are planning a trip with friends from Albany N.Y. to California next year (each our own car) but I'm looking forward to buying a new car before leaving.
I like the Aveo but what bothers me a bit is crossing the Rockies. with a 1.6 L engine. Will it be powerful enough?

By what you said in your post... guess so.

    Thank you!
  • laserbluelaserblue Member Posts: 313
Could owners of a Aveo 5 describe how they felt and how it went on a road trip.
    How long was your trip?
    Type of road travelled?
How does this Aveo 5 performed in the mountains? (Appalachians, Rockies or steep hills).
On a long stretch of highway?
  • laserbluelaserblue Member Posts: 313
    My dealer told me that the 2009 Aveo's 1.6 L. engine has 108 h/p compared to 103 h/p in the 2008 models.
Does 5 h/p bring a big difference in a car?
I might buy one but I'm still wondering.
I only do city commuting but I take 1 long vacation trip every year crossing the Appalachians or the Rockies.
Would this car be powerful enough to cross those steep mountains?
  • sevenseassevenseas Member Posts: 44
In 2006 I took a 3-week vacation through the Rocky Mountains. My journey crossed seven states. I flew to Denver and rented the Aveo Sedan. I put 3200 miles on the car, so I got a very good impression of its virtues.

First, seat comfort was excellent. I have a bad back and had no problems throughout the trip. Fuel economy was a solid 40 mpg. At times in Colorado I had to climb some very steep grades and have to say the car struggled. And my vacation was a solo trip (cant imagine how worse it would have been with additional passengers/weight). But taxing the engine wasnt that common and overall it had enough power for most situations.

I plan on replacing my car within the next 6 months. So I have had a chance to check out the the current Aveo hatchback. Definate improvement over the older model I drove. But I actually like the Hyundai Elantra Touring better and it may be my next purchase.

My wife and I are thinking of trading our 2005 Equinox for a new Aveo 5
Any advice before I make my move?
I really don't know if I should because once it's done it's to late.
Could you tell me what you like or dislike about your Aveo?
    Thank You!
  • yngwieyngwie Member Posts: 16
    Well,
I have a 2007 Aveo 5 with a manual tranny and I really love it. I traded in a 1999 Ford Crown Vic,so I really downsized. I find the Aveo roomier than one would think. I drive about 60 miles a day back and forth to work(about75%) highway and average 33 mph! Droppes a Kenwood cd player and Sirius sat. radio in it and I'm lovin' it. 30,000 miles and so far no problems.
    Cheers,
    Steve

I have a 2007 Aveo sedan, LT trim level. Overall, we are very happy with the car. There are a couple of minor design issues, but as far as performance, it never skips a beat. One of my favorite things about the car is how easy it is to maneuver and park it. It is good on gas but not as good as I thought, but with the newer models this may be improved. The cupholders need to be updated. Currently they are the "pop out" kind and are not very sturdy. If you drink canned sodas then you are in business. They fit perfectly. Anything bigger than that...well....good luck. I hope they design a better console with a storage compartment at the driver's elbow and built-in cupholders.

There are tons of cool features. Sunroof, awesome stereo with 6 speakers and controls on the steering wheel, cruise, 6 disc cd in dash, fog lamps, power everything, etc etc. Good luck. I will probably trade in the next year or so for an Aveo 5.

My Aveo is a 2006 model, loaded to the max. I love my Aveo. The new Aveo with the same loaded options costs over 19K. I don't think so.

I have a 2006 Pontiac Wave (which is the Canada-only version of Aveo). I like my car so far.

The 50,000 km (30k mile) mark is coming up. The manual recommended the following things:

    - replace passenger compartment air filter
    - engine air filter
    - replace spark plugs
    - coolant flush
    - change brake fluid
    - inspect a whole whack of things; and
    - the usual oil change, tire roation etc.

All this for regular driving, not "short trips".

I don't recall doing all this at 50 k (30k miles) for any of my cars. Googling reveals that spark plug replacement is because this car uses copper core spark plugs whereas most GM cars use platinum ones.

Is it just me, or does the maintenance demands seem a bit much?

    - sandy.
  • andy_handy_h Member Posts: 49
I didn't do all of that and my Aveo ran perfect with no problem. I did change my engine air filter when it was dirty. You can get it at Walmart, it is cheap. At 60K miles, I did change my spark plugs. They were good, but I want the most expensive ones (still inexpensive) for more power and better mpg.
  • sandyriversandyriver Member Posts: 16
Thanks andy_h. Since I posted my question, my car had a hiccup. The key got stuck in the ignition. There are serveral questions/comments in similar issues with aveos, so, this seems to be a common problem. It turned out to be a faulty selenoid switch that controls the shifter.

All the aggravation leads me to jus follow the preventive maintenance schedule to the letter. A stalled car in my situation is very problematic. (lost work hours and so on). I'm thinking now that the savings in this case may not be worth the aggravation.

My wife and I are planning a cross country trip this summer with a 2009 Aveo 5 (Syracuse N.Y. to Reno Nevada).
We are crossing the Rocky Mountains in the state of Colorado.
Is the Aveo 5 with its 1.6 L., 4 cylinder, 106 h/p engine, automatic transmission strong enough to do this or I might get myself in trouble doing it? (overheating, transmission/engine problems) ect...
Any advice would be appreciated by anyone or drivers/owners who drove the Rocky Mountains.
    Thank You!

I have the same car as you, practically new. If you haven't had any problems with it until now I can't imagine why it wouldn't be dependable.

About 35 years ago I drove a carbureted car across the Rockies and back. The worst aspect is that at very high altitudes the air is much thinner, and that affected the carb mixture (slow, sluggish performance). The car ran perfectly again after I returned to sea level. However, on modern cars such as yours virtually everything is electronically controlled. I would imagine the computer will compensate for the variation in the air/fuel mixture requirement, so performance might not be affected at all.
  • laserbluelaserblue Member Posts: 313
It's been o.k. so far, but driving in and around Syracuse does not include to much mountains, I'd say only little hills here and there.
The rough grades going up the Rockies is what makes me a bit nervous about mechanical problems.
  • flaaveo22flaaveo22 Member Posts: 11
While I cant comment on mountain issues, being that I am in Ft.Lauderdale Fla. No mountains here, barely a hill in sight! But my Aveo Hatchback is a 2006 and only has 14K miles on it. It has been solid as a rock engine wise,no troubles at all. So I would assume the newest Aveos' engine would be as dependable if not more, it is the same engine, only very minor tweaks, to get 2 more horsepower, big deal!

I think I have heard that at high altitudes, you should go for higher octane gas, to make up for the thinner air and the fuel/air mixture. But as others have said, all cars today are so controlled by computers, they compensate for altitude issues. But I would pack lightly, our little car is not built to haul a lot of heavy things,as I am sure you know. The lighter the car, the better and faster it will climb a hill/mountain. Have fun!

We purchased a 2009 in December and have now driven it about 1350 miles. The economy is running 27, 29 and 30 mpg. That's in town and open road miles. This is a 5 speed and I do not follow the shift indicators for mileage. (I believe that you need to keep your RPM's up and the motor cleaned out.) We run in the 75 mph range on the open road, and most of the time I run around 4 to 5K on the up shifts. I find it to be fast steering but stable. We live in Montana (lots of wind here) and find it as stable as any other vehicle. Those that say it can't pull a hill don't know how to shift the gears. If they down-shift as the RPM's start to drop they wont be complaining about the power. Our rating, excellent! Economy is about what you should expect at higher cruising speeds and not putting along in the wrong gears. Plenty of power and speed if you drive the vehicle the way it should be operated. You still get good economy (maybe not as EPA rated) but average around 30 mpg.

Hi, I ended up on this site due to searching for some solutions to problems with my 2005 Aveo. The problem has had my mechanic scratching his head, and this forum has proved helpful in providing some possible solution to the problem. However on reading some of the comments on this car, I have been scratching my head. I can't believe the comments about it being surprisingly roomy. I have had to drive this car for close to 5 years and I have to say this is the worst car I have ever driven, and that includes my old Datsun Cherry that could only take $10 in fuel as it had a leak in the gas tank. There is no room to swing a cat. I can't even keep a small flashlight in the glove compartment. If you get more than 2 bags of groceries then you are screwed, as the cargo is miniscule. I hate it with a passion. I had to change all the light bulbs within months of having it. The alarm has been stuck on, the wheels are made of the softest metal known to man. The slightest pot hole in the road and you have to get a new wheel. The seats are the most uncomfortable I have ever known. After driving for more than an hour, it feels like someone is sticking a spear in to your spine.
I could go on, but I would run out of space in this post. Needless to say I detest this car.

This is an economy car! It was made for housewives and college students. I live in NYC and have a 2004 AVEO5 LS and I never had a problem so far. The only time It has been back to the dealer was for an oil change and insepction and a recall notice. I am able to fit several grocery bags into the trunk and if you fold down the back seat you have plenty of room if you go to Costco. I get good fuel economy about 25 MPG and it is great for parking. I admit it is not a luxury car! I also drive a minivan which has room for 8. So it may be time for you to trade in for a new car.

I have a 07 Aveo 5 and I really like it. I went from a Crown Vic to the Aveo.Talk about a chenge! The Aveo is fine for me. No real problems so far(47,000 miles). The money i am saving on gas a month practically covers my car payment!

If you hate this car so much, why have you kept it for 5 years? Is it the sedan or the hatchback? I have the hatchback,a 2006 LS,and with the seats folded down,I can load in a ton of stuff. I dont know about the sedans dimensions. I think most people are taking about how much head room there is in such a small car, people over 6ft easily fit into it and dont hit their heads on the headliner. I am only keeping this car this long, the longest I have kept ANY car/truck in my life, because I am only 13 payments away from paying it off, and only have 14K miles on it, and it looks like it just came off the showroom floor. I take VERY good care of all my vehicles.
I dont get the amazing mileage that people talk about in here, I am lucky to get 17mpg! in the city. I got better mileage in my Ford Ranger pickup that had a V-6 in it, that I traded in on this car, at the height of the gas crisis.
And Chevy insists that it is because I only drive like 4 miles at a time,so the cars engine doesn't get really heated up. So, I am keeping it, till I pay it off and or it breaks down in a big way. I have had no mechanical problems at all since I bought it. I have had tons of trim problems, and the hatch itself has been worked on like 15 times! For creaking, not unlocking ,rattles, wiper not working. But so far not a single mechanical problem.

It is a super cheap car, so what did you expect when you bought it? I love the rock hard seats, they are to soft now, they use to feel like Mercedes seats, but 3 years of wear, has made the drivers seat to soft for my taste. If you expected great seats, tons of room, and all the luxury of a bigger car....why did you buy the Aveo? I dont mean this to sound like I am picking on you, but you did test drive it,didnt you? Didnt you feel the seat? See the room that the car has? And yet you have now had it for 5 years. Why? :confuse:

The new Aveo is a bit nicer, and next years is going to be better, then when they stop making it and replace it with the new car they are coming out with, I think it is called 'The Bea't and another one as well. They are coming out with a hot racer version, and one that is more 'luxury'. And it is kind of like the Honda element. A lot of those plastic panels and very odd colors, a totally new design. I will probably buy one of those. They were in the last Transformers movie! Both of them. Along with the 2011-2012 Corvette, and then the 2 versions of the replacement for the Aveo. And they are finally bringing over colors from Japan and Europe. Really odd and cool colors.

But if you detest it, sell it or trade it in. I know what you mean about soft wheels, I nearly lost a wheel in a pothole and was shocked. I bitched about it and Chevy replaced it, under warranty. Even though they said it wasnt covered. I complained for months and they finally replaced it. But I only had like 2K miles on it in 1 year! So I was ticked off, and threw a fit in front of a lot of customers, and they replaced it finally to calm me down :D If the economy wasnt so crappy and if i didnt owe so little and have such low miles on it, I would trade it in tomorrow. But my hatchback has a ton of room, tons of headroom, lots of vision out the windows, it is very big for a tiny car. But I dont know about the sedan, you must have that one.
If you hate it so much, get rid of it.">

Yes it is the Hatchback and if you read my original post, it states that I have "HAD" to drive it for nearly 5 years. It is a company car and hopefully it will be getting traded in within the next couple of months. If not then I will seriously be looking for a new place of work. Amongst the other little issues with this car, I have had to have the air conditioning compressor replaced and the heating fixed twice. I have a friend who is over 6 feet tall and he practically had his knees in his throat when he was sitting in the passenger seat. The only redeeming features of this car is the parking and the stereo.

Like I said, Dont take this as an attack, I didnt read any other post by you ,so I thought this was your own car. Well all I can say is I have a 6'3" friend who can sit in the passenger seat or the back and has head room left over and he can stretch his legs out. In the front of course with the seat in the back position. He loves that he can fit into such a small car so easily. He cant even get into his full size truck as smoothly.
But hey, it isnt your car, so you don't have to pay for the repairs, do you? So when the company gets another car, tell them your experiences with the Aveo, if they dont know, they must know, and ask if they can go bigger on the next one.
Be glad you have a job, let alone a job with a car! Wow! I would kill to get that job! :surprise: And you must have an upgraded stereo, mine is just the base one with a cd player, and it is just ok...you must have the top of the line one, lucky again.

Yeah I appreciate that I have a job and the car comes with it. The car is built in to my pay so it is not that great a deal, but I still appreciate it. That doesn't stop me from hating the car though. The stereo is just the basic but I like the sound I get from it. That and the parking is all I like about it. Oh I forgot to mention one of my other issues was the time whenever I wound down the drivers window it locked the door due to the crappy installation of the door mechanism. This car has been a comedy of errors since the word go.
