    Hello,
I am North of you in McKinney.
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
Alwyn, whatever you do, PLEASE DON'T PAY MSRP. I am ordering my Sport Trac and I am paying dealer invoice price minus the Ford rebate incentives. Use the Edmunds.com website to enter your exact vehicle options and use that as your guide for pricing. Even though you have used your existing dealer before, it usually pays to get offers from 2 additional dealers. They can give you the price on the same vehicle.

    Hello,
Just wondering if anyone knows if the new NAV/Radio system will have a auxillary input for a "back up" camera system or if Ford is planning on offering this as a option in the future. I know they are going to offer a "sensor" system but it won't offer the peace of mind of seeing what or who your about to back over. Thanks for any info.
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
The NAV/Radio does not have an auxillary input for a back up camera and there is no plan to include one. I have purchased the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 in dash navigation system along with the Pioneer back up camera and Bluetooth adaptor to install in my spot trac.
  • sleepmakersleepmaker Member Posts: 5
Thanks for the heads up. Does the Pioneer AVIC Z1 match up with the steering wheel mounted radio controls as found on the 07 limited. Also, did you add amps/sub woofer or use the factory premium setup? Thanks
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
You have to purchase an adaptor that links the steering wheel controls to the AVIC-Z1 which costs about $70. I ordered my ST with the Audiophile sound system which comes with a factory sub. No initial plans for additional amps/subs but who knows.....
  • chris5639chris5639 Member Posts: 12
Looks like a great NAV unit. Crutchfield claims that this unit will not fit in the 07 Sport Trac. Are you sure the Sport Trac has a full double din opening? I'm waiting to order the factory NAV but would prefer this unit instead if it will fit.
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
I am absolutely 100% positive that the AVIC-Z1 will fit. Look at this link of Pat Freeman's installaion of the Z1 in his 07 ST: http://97vette.com/sporttrac/07ST/radio/
Once I saw his installation, I ordered my unit. Now i'm impatiently awaiting my special order truck to arrrive which is why I hang out on this forum all the time :D

Also check out www.AVIC411.com which is a website dedicated to the Pioneer AVIC line of stereo head units.

Looks great. Do you know if you have to drill the body to place a external antenna for the NAV system?

    Thanks
  • chris5639chris5639 Member Posts: 12
That's great! Thanks for the info. I would like to special order as well but the dealer said that any incentives applied would have to be available at the time of delivery and not at the time of order. Given the current incentives end on 7/5, it was too close to expect delivery by then. Anyone know if Ford will renew the incentives or come out with new ones?
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
Personally I think Ford will extend, and hopefully enhance their current rebates/incentives on the Sport Trac. I hope Ford includes the Sport Trac in the 0% 60 month finance incentive and possibly increase the rebate offer. Gas prices have not declined and SUV sales have slumped yet Ford still has to meet it's forecasted unit sales numbers. My vehicle won't be delivered until mid August so we'll see how it goes....
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
It depends on where you want to mount the GPS antenna. Most people are mounting them inside the vehicle where the windshield meets the dash, which is where I will probbly mount mine. No one is having any issues with reception as long as they don't have the heated windshield.
  • captjchincaptjchin Member Posts: 14
I have the heated windshield and use the Garmin Nuvi 350 with built in antenna with NO problem. I also use an Escort radar detector with no problem.

The heated windshield has wires imbedded and not the same as the coated windshield as in my old Taurus.

I thought I read somewhere that Job 2 would include a skid plate option. Does anyone know if this is true? I use my current truck, an '02 Ranger FX4, offroad a fair amount and it has a full set of factory skid plates. They have been "tested" more than once. ;) I do know that the only way to get skid plates on the '07 Sport Trac at this point is if you are a fleet buyer. The option code is 51E but for the time being it is not available to the general public. I am planning to place my order soon but I will wait for this option if it becomes available in August.
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
There is a skid plate option but it is not available to the public. My understanding is that the skid plates are only available to companies that order fleet vehicles. Don't quite understand why, but that's how they have it set up..... I doubt it will become a public option, if so they would add it now with the other newly released options.

Does anyone have or know where to get the wiring diagram or service manual for the 2007 Sport Trac?
  • mustangguy74mustangguy74 Member Posts: 9
I picked my new Limited 4x4 V8 sport trak on monday. It's everything I anticipated and more. I did get the power rear window. I highly recommend it if you don't get the moonroof. It helps the air-flow in the cabin when driving with a window down.
  • chris5639chris5639 Member Posts: 12
Congrats on your new Sport Trac. I'm trying to decide between the V6 and V8 engines. I have a friend who had the previous generation Explorer and claimed his transmission started slipping at 40K miles. He was told by a mechanic that this was common with the Ford 5-speeds. Does the 07 Sport Trac V6 come with the same 5 speed transmission? I don't necessarily need the extra power. but I'm leaning towards the V8 and the 6-spd trans hoping it's newer technology and a better design. Anyone who knows more about theses engines and transmissions?
  • mustangguy74mustangguy74 Member Posts: 9
Chris, the 6-speed tranny that comes with the V8 is a new transmission. I'm not aware of any "flaw" with the old 5-speed tranny though. The tranny in my old Explorer ('99 V6 5-speed 99k miles) never missed a beat and feels tight enough for another 50k. My parents have owned a first generation Explorer and a '98 Mountaineer, both with V6 5-speeds-- They've not had any problems either. I test drove the '07 sport trak with both the V6 and the V8. My preference was the V8. There is the added cost and lower mileage in city driving, but highway mileage is a tossup between the two.

Can anyone recommend a website to purchase mudflaps and other after-market accessories for the 2007 sport-trak??

Doh! I just looked on Ford's site tonight to see if they renewed the 0% for 36 month incentive and they raised it to 2.9%. All of the finance rates have been raised. This new "incentive" is until 10/02/06. I guess I'll wait until after 10/02 to see if they'll have a better deal.
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
NO, you've gotta be kidding me! I need to see what they've done to the rebates... Fortunately, my truck won't be delivered until mid-late September so hopefully it will be better by then.
  • blksn8kblksn8k Member Posts: 36
I suppose the skid plates are something that you could buy through the dealer's parts dept and install yourself. Not that big a deal.

On another subject, I just wanted to let everyone know that if you are using Ford's website to check dealer inventory don't believe everything you see, or in this case don't see. I saw one dealer who had a couple of Sport Tracs that looked interesting but neither had the power rear window, or so I thought. They did not appear on the list of options when I went through Ford's site. But when I called the dealer to inquire about these trucks I asked if they had any Sport Tracs with the power rear window. They said yes at least two of them did and one of them was one of the trucks I was looking at. If I check the dealer's own website and look at his version of the window sticker the power rear window is there. Shame on you, Ford. You guys need to get your stuff together.

I was to get my V8 Limited ST-W/all options except moonroof-been on order since first ones allowed from Dealer with the RSWindow and Redundant steering column-you won't believe this one -a few weeks ago told be delivered to my dealer-I heard the conversation-heard yesterday after E-mail from my dealer that delivered to another dealer and was supposed to be delivered yesterday afternoon-great timing for incentives eh-Mustangguy 74? This would have been my third ST-I still have not stopped fuming-Ford has troubles alright-this ST should have been here at least one week prior to July 5 deadline of Incentives- 0% 36 months and 1500 from Dealer-now what?

What % OFF sticker are the buyers getting on the new V-8 Tracs?
  • jbodinejbodine Member Posts: 10
I'm considering the Sport Trac and the RidgeLine. I haul a motorcycle on the weekends and I know it will fit in the RidgeLine, but will it fit in the new Sport Trac? Has anyone tried it?
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
I have ordered my 07 V-8 Limited Sport Trac and I am getting it at Dealer Invoice minus the rebates! Do not negotiate from sticker price, use this website to get the dealer invoice prices with all of your options and print it out. When you are ready to buy, take the list to your dealership and use that to negotiate with. If they are not willing to negotiate from Dealer Invoice then walk out and go to another dealership. I realize that every dealership might not be willing to sell you the truck "AT" invoice like my dealership is, but I would absolutely not pay any more than Dealer Invoice plus $500.

I have a document that shows the "Actual" dealer cost of the Sport Trac which is below invoice. This is the cost that the dealership pays after dealer holdback.

For example, the actual "Dealer Price" for the 2007 Limited 4x2 Sport Trac w/4.6L V-8 is $24,360. (This is what they actually pay FORD Motor Company for the vehicle.) They initially pay this price for the vehicle but as long as they move the vehicle within a certain amount of time they get refunded the difference between this cost and the cost below.

The Dealer Invoice which includes Dealer Holdback is $25,466. (This is what they show to the consumer)

The MSRP price is $27,045. (This is what they list on the sticker that you should NEVER pay)
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
That's a rather broad question..... It depends on what motorcycle you are hauling. You will have to let the tailgate down, but the size (length) of the motorcycle determines whether or not it will fit. I don't remember the exact length of the bed with the talgate down.
  • jbodinejbodine Member Posts: 10
Sorry for not being more specific. It's been my experience that most full size motorcycles are roughly the same length. I suppose the fact that it's down to the specific bike tells me I should be concerned. I'm hauling a 2002 KTM 520 off-road bike mostly, but will also be hauling friends' bikes that are all full-size off-road bikes too but not the same manufacturer, displacement or model. Plus any new bike I buy will need to be hauled. Have you hauled any bike in a Sport Trac? Thanks for any input or experiences.

Limited ST arrived-driven 2oo miles-has Nav-so far on Fuel window went up to 12-not up to the window sticker 14 yet-I had 2002 and 2004 ST's this best and has no competition from Ridgeline,Avalanche and Toyota comparables-Only two problems -have trouble with Adjustable pedals-door closing-Do not get the adjust-pedals-foot slips off -and break pedal is off set -unless there is some adjustment it is a real problem for big feet-why doesn't ford have larger gas pedals? The lighting on all interior redundant Steering controls and panel the best-but had to find the little brightness knob-sure will get under Headlight panel --at seventy the tach still under 17 and bet at a Hundred would be undeer 25-quite amazing-as others said can't tell when in the higher trans positions except by keeping eye on the tachometer-smoother than any have ever driven-period -sure will get 20MPG or better on highway-freeway type drive because of the low tach reading
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
Didn't mean to come across sarcastic in my initial post, but a person could be hauling anything up to a full dress Gold Wing or a custom built Iron Horse with a larger than normal rake on the front end. I use to haul my Honda CBR900RR in the 1st generation Sport Trac with no problem and I doubt you would have any issues with your KTM....
  • jbodinejbodine Member Posts: 10
Great! Thanks for the info. I may get a Limited 4WD 4.6L tomorrow. Will do an extended test drive tonight.
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
jbodine, let us know how your test drive goes..... I have a Limited 2WD 4.6L w/the Limited Chrome Package on order.
  • sleepmakersleepmaker Member Posts: 5
Just curious but what is the price of the chrome package?

    Thanks
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
The pricing for the Chrome Package hasn't been listed yet, the option doesn't go into production until August 8th (give or take a day or 2) so it should be released soon. I'll try to post it as soon as it's available....
  • jbodinejbodine Member Posts: 10
The test drive went well. So well, in fact, that I now own the truck. So far (500 miles) I really like it. And the bike does fit (with no room to spare).

Didn't know about the chrome package -- sounds cool.
  • blksn8kblksn8k Member Posts: 36
I'm more interested in a skid plate option. If it came with all-terrain tires that would be even better. Fewer mods I'd have to do myself.

So does anyone actually know of or have a list of changes that will go into production in August?
  • blukowskiblukowski Member Posts: 2
I recently purchased a 2007 Sport Trac Limited. When driving at night, the white lettering of the CD/Stereo buttons glow to indicate its' function. However, the other two units 1)Info/set-up/4 wheel options and 2)climate control (fan,defrost,a/c, ect.) do not. As a result, when driving at night I need to turn on the dome light to see what button to depress. I talked with the dealer and was told that is how it is designed. I just can't believe it and wanted to check with other owners to confirm. Any help...anyone?
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
The price of the Limited Chrome Package is:
    MSRP: $795.00
    Invoice: $676.00

Question: So does anyone actually know of or have a list of changes that will go into production in August?

See post #194 on page 11 for the details on this....
  • jbodinejbodine Member Posts: 10
I paid attention to this last night while driving my 07 Limited and all the buttons were lit up just like you would expect. I believe the dealer misinformed you.
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
I would suggest asking your dealer to let you look at another new vehicle on the lot. That will resolve the issue and provide all the evidence that you need to ask them to fix it.

Here is an update some had asked for on my plans to put a Flowmaster on my 07 4.6 V8 S.T.
I finally got around to having it put on!
I had contacted Flowmaster for their suggestions on what to order and per their advice ordered a 70 series Big block II and heat shield and had it installed in front of the stock resonator.
It is just about perfect! Not too loud in the cab or outside, but definitely not stock!
You can hear it in the cab on acceleration then it quiets down nicely when you get up to speed. Best of all it has that famous low Flowmaster rumble and my mileage has improved slightly.
I had some reservations on doing this because I guess I am at an age where keeping it quiet inside the cab is important to me. It has worked out very well though. The sound never overpowers conversation or the music. I would recommend the 70 series Flowmaster to anyone seeking to upgrade their exhaust where a quiet cab is important.

I have had a minor problem with the 6 speed auto transmission on my 4.6 S.T. It works great except when you come to a stop or near stop it does not seem to shift down far enough, then when you start to go again it does downshift causing a big lurch. I had contacted the service department and they said Ford had a calibration change that should fix the problem. But it did not, it did help a little but it is still there.
Has anyone had this problem and been able to get it fixed?
  • lariat10lariat10 Member Posts: 22
I talked to a dealer today about a 2007 limited Sport Trac list 29,830 will take 28,231 + 299 in dealer fees with a 1500 dollar rebate plus a 1000 dollar direct purchase offer I received in the mail. A good or bad deal told dealer I would get back to him on monday.

    James
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
Lariat, I wish I had seen this post earlier. They can (and will) do a little better than that. Post the details (all of the equipment options) and I will give you all the info you need. Or even better, tell the dealer that you want to see the trucks invoice. Offer him $100 over invoice price BEFORE subtracting ANY of the rebate offers. I am paying $0 over invoice on my special order truck and I know that you can get just as good of a deal.
  • jbodinejbodine Member Posts: 10
No solution to offer you, but I've noticed a similar prob. In stop and go traffic I've noticed a lurch as you said after the downshift. The first time it happened I looked in the rearview mirror to see if someone bumped into me.
  • luckylarryluckylarry Member Posts: 1
I've had the same problem. I have an '07 4.6 with 4500 miles on it. It's exactly as you describe it, it doesn't seem to downshift to first gear at stops. I'll be taking it in the the dealer this week and will let you know what they say.

Other than that I love the truck.
  • ayarbo1ayarbo1 Member Posts: 56
Take your trucks to the delership and reference TSB# (Technical Service Bulletin) 0613-01. They have revised the PCM programming for the 6 speed auto transmisson on the 4.6L Sport Tracs. They'll upgrade your PCM program.
