Probably went well with the leisure suits of the era.

A pastel Miami Vice suit and Duran Duran style hair would work well.

I remember a 7-series with the white-out treatment... Shot that guy (drug kingpin) and he ended up draped over the open rear door...

not that I ever watched it...

    I would.
Hell, I don't know if those fenders would even fit in my garage anyway.

    That works.

Regarding fender width, you'd need special parking, and to be a special kind of person. On modern cars, I would find a widebody like that to be pretty awful, but on a 124 Hammer or 126, it's pretty hot - back in the day, a hot rod MB was pretty exotic.

The white Falcon on the left looks like the one I got stuck on the railroad track soon after I got my driver's license in 1966. Snow in the mountains and the VW Bug turning left has skis on the rear rack. Vermont?

On the left, a 63 Chevy Nova 400 wagon and the Barre, Vermont WW1 memorial. "They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.........."

Nice going guys, yes that is the intersection of Rtes. 302 and 14 in Barre, Vermont, ca. 1969.

For some reason, I think of Vermont having wide boulevards like that one.

Narrow two-lanes are a lot more typical. US 302 is one of the main East-West routes in Northern New England (it runs SE to NW from Portland ME to Montpelier VT a few miles from where that photo was taken) and it is mostly 2 lane.

Mitsubishi Mirage (were they mirages back then?) next to a Jag XJ-S convertible.

back row looks like a brown '79ish Grand Prix.

Pretty sure that still is from the movie Speed.

Too hard to tell, the brown car could also be a Cutlass.

Yup, it's from Speed, they don't ID the brown car. The Mitsu Mirage is a '91 and the Jag is an XJ-S roadster.

Those '61 Ponchos were real lookers, some of the finest of the Mitchell era. Take a good look at how that front bumper is blended in.

I'm going to guess the blue one is around a 54 or 55 Nash and the maroon one is an early 50's Nash bathtub model. Interesting cars for their time really.

    andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,392
Yeah, the blue one is a '54 Ambassador. You can tell by the skirted wheel the other is an earlier Nash. How do you suppose they changed front tires on those things? You had to take the whole fender off a Citroen ID/DS

I had a 51. When you jacked it up it took a long time before the front wheels left the ground after which there was no problem removing the wheel.
The red one is a 51.
The easiest way to ID a 54 is by its concave grille.

That's not by any chance a Daihatsu, is it?? No way I could come up with a model. Just kind of reminds me of something from Gran Turismo.

The tiny little econoboxes of that era all looked the same.

Put a Spark in a time machine and every one back then would freak out. :D

I think a lot of the cladded ones were 4WD. I knew someone in high school who had a 4WD 4 door model - very rare car, today. My brother looked all over for a decent one awhile ago, no luck.
