    Fred Baker Audi here in Cleveland is offering:

    * 2011 A4 Premium Plus
    * MSRP of $39,075
    * 36 mo lease with 54% residual and MF 0.00145 (same as posted by others)
    * Initial Cap Cost of $37,000
    * $0 down
    * Audi Loyalty Cash of $750
    * Sales tax rate 7.5%
    * Monthly payment of $545.06

    Audi has really dropped their residual values and it's hitting the monthly payment. My current 2008 A4 with the same options as Premium Plus costs $448/mo but it had a residual of 59%. So I'm paying an extra $100/mo for basically the same car with a better 8-spd transmission.

    The dealer said that they cannot move on residual values, 54% is as good as it gets. Buying at 3.9% APR would get me $1,186/mo for 36 months and $1,500 loyalty cash.

    So what can I negotiate here to get the price under $500/mo for a lease? Anything on the buying side?

    Please help review current Lease offer by Audi:
    2011 Audi A4 2,0T Premium
    MSRP: 33825
    Res. Value: 17927
    Term: 42 months
    Sec. Dep: 0
    Acq. Fee: 625
    1st mo. payment: 373
    Down Payment: 1979
    Total due at signing: 2977 (excluding tax, title)
    Miles: 10K (.25/mile over)
    Disposition Fee: 325
    MF by my calculations is .00053 ????
    Where am I going wrong here with my calculations since all other posts showing MF of about .00145?

    Hi casanova2. The dealer was right, they do not have the authority to alter banks' published residual values.

    In short, the easiest way to get a good deal on a leased vehicle is to shop around for the lowest possible selling price and then have the dealer that you decide to go with calculate your vehicle's monthly payment using its buy rate lease money factor.

    Car_Man,

    I have a question about the following leasing information that you have provided:

    2010 A4 Premium Sedan with 15,000 miles per year are .00106 and 54%
    2011 A4 Prestige Sedan with 15,000 miles per year are .00145 and 48%
    How can the residual value for the Prestige model, which is a better equipped vehicle, be LOWER than the Premium model? That seems counter-intuitive. :confuse:
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 235,188
    The residual is a lower percentage of MSRP, but with the large difference in price, the dollar amount residual will still be higher for the Prestige model.

    Actually, that's pretty typical of most leasing residuals.. base models retain a higher percentage of MSRP than highly-optioned models... Those expensive options, while desirable, depreciate faster than the car as a whole.

    Greetings avneron. The selling prices of leased vehicles are negotiable, just as if you were paying cash for or financing them. It is difficult to tell how good a deal this is without comparing this car's selling price to its MSRP. Let us know what these numbers are and I'm sure that either myself or another knowledgeable community member will gladly let you know what they think.

    Hi raj1. I personally don't have a problem with the reliability of new Audi products. The quality of its vehicles is much higher than it was years ago.

    Having said that I personally would lean towards leasing rather than purchasing a new 2011 A4 right now. Audi currently has an attractive level of lease support available on this car.

    I suppose that my response is not all that surprising though given the fact that I have leased about 90% of the vehicles that I have had in my life and I host a discussion about "Lease Questions" :).

    Hey Zen. kyfdx is absolutely right. Vehicles that are loaded often have lower residual value percentages than vehicles with less equipment. We see this sort of thing all the time on vehicles that are equipped with navigation. For whatever reason, consumers usually are not willing to pony up as much money for options on used vehicles and thus the options depreciate at a faster rate than the vehicles themselves.

    Hi Car_man

    Trying to help a friend with a lease. He's looking at:

    2010 A4 Avant Quattro Premium and Premium Plus
    2011 A4 Avant Quattro Premium and Premium Plus

    Do you have the current Audi numbers?
  • CarMan@EdmundsCarMan@Edmunds Member Posts: 38,514
    Here you go spencermfi.

    Audi Financial Services' current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2011 A4 Avant Premium with 15,000 miles per year are .00140 and 56%, respectively for consumers who qualify for its top credit tier.

    The numbers for an otherwise identical lease of an '11 A4 Avant Premium Plus are .00140 and 53%.

    The numbers for an otherwise identical lease of an '10 A4 Avant Premium Plus are .00177 and 48%.

    The numbers for an otherwise identical lease of an '10 A4 Avant Premium Plus are .00177 and 45%.

    The reason why the lease program for the 2010 model is so much worse is that Audi is no longer providing lease support on the '10 A4. That's the bad news. The good news is that Audi is providing $2,000 dealer cash on the '10 A4 Avant that is compatible with its lease program.

    Closed my lease on the A-4 Premium Plus with a Sticker at $39,570. (Metallic, Exhaust Tips, All Weather Mats, Walnut Trim. Turned in an A-4 lease so got my $750 Loyalty. With Audi Care the price of the car was $37667. In IL you have to add tax. I opted for a 42 month 12k a year lease with a Residual of 51% and Money Factor of .00152. First month payment and tags I was out the door at $723.00. Monthly is 533.85 for 41 remaining payments.

    Thanks CAR__ MAN for the numbers. Always fun going in prepared.

    Hi, I was wondering what you guys thought of this offer, and is there any major downfalls to a 42 month lease as opposed to the 36 month?

    - 2011 Audi A4 Premium Plus (auto/quattro) + Audi Care

    Sticker: 38,415 - $1250 rebate - 750 Audi cash = $36,415
    Down Payment: $1500

    36m/12,000 = $517
    42m/12,000 = $499

    Thanks!!

    Hi,

    I am leasing a 2008 A4 Sedan 2.0T Quattro MT6, which ends on 01/02/2011. I took the lease over from someone else after he had it for 19 months, and really love the car. No problems, no issues. I am wondering if you think buying it at the end of the lease is a good idea financially. Here are the particulars:

    Stats: Brilliant Red, Black Leather, Base MSRP $31,000
    Options: S-Line Pkg ($2,000), Audio Pkg ($1,000), Titanium Pkg ($500), Bluetooth ($500), Heated Seats ($450), Dest. ($775)

    Total MSRP $36,225.

    The negotiated lease price was $34,417 plus $590 for Audi Care Pkg. and $195 Etch (unreal, but what can you do?), with a residual of $21,010. Lease term is 36 months, 30,000 miles total. It currently has about 27,500 on it. Payments are $444.60 per month.

    When I took the lease over I didn't give the guy anything down - just took over the payments. Plus, he paid the first month I had it for me. So I will have driven it for 17 months, but paid for 16.

    If I pay it off this week, I'll owe Audi Financial $21,010 plus the two remaining payments plus sales tax. Because I am buying it and paying it off two months early, they will credit me $121. I will also avoid the $350 turn in fee.

    Thanks for your help. Love these forums.

    Audi (VW Credit) is the first leasing company to engage in this despicable behavior that i've dealt with.

    At lease end, if your residual is attractive and you decide to sell the car to a dealer, don't expect them to sell it at the residual value.

    VW Credit will try to sell it to the dealer at something like private party sale which is likely well above your residual. (i.e. residual mght be 23k and they will ask the dealer to pay $28k for the car.) It's the most ridiculous thing.

    I should comment that i was dealing with non-audi dealers. i dont' know if they would try to screw their own dealers out of purchasing the car.

    They will only honor their residual if the lesee buys the car themselves. They will not honor it if you trade the car in at the end of the lease.

    What a Joke. Last time I ever deal with Audi and their finance company. You want to be a Luxury brand, then act like one. Not some cheap dishonest used car dealership.

    I should mention, to be fair, that this was experienced when trying to trade the car in at non-audi dealerships. I have not idea if they would try to screw their own dealers out of buying out your lease.
  • rodistrodist Member Posts: 36
    I just "Traded In" my 2008 Audi Lease to an Audi Dealer. Audi Financial did sell the Car to the dealer for the Residual which was much lower than the trade in value. My 2008 had 21,956 miles and was in "Excellent" clean condition. The Resdiual was $ 21,677 they gave me$ 23, 500 and now they have it on the lot for $27,456.

    http://continentalaudi.com/Chicago/For-Sale/Used/Audi/A4/2008-2-0T-White-Car/464- 4911/

    Maybe the non Audi dealership thing is the issue.

    Hi Car Man -

    I have been quoted the following for the above car. Dealer indicated the lease figures include a $1750 discount/lease loyalty, the best deal they can make to repeat customers. However, I would typically expect to negotiate the price of the vehicle below MSRP first, THEN have any available incentives applied? Please advise regarding your opinion of the terms as proposed. Thank you in advance!!

    MSRP $40690
    2011 Audi A4 Avant Auto Quattro $35940
    Quartz Gray/Black
    Metallic Paint $475
    Premium Plus Package $3400
    Destination charge $875
    Total MSRP $40690

    Lease numbers;

    0 down 36mo./10k miles/including monthly sales tax $646.62
    1000 down 36mo./10k miles/including monthly sales tax $614.44
    3000 down 36mo./10k miles/including monthly sales tax $553.99
    5000 down 36mo./10k miles/including monthly sales tax $493.88
