    Thanks Toddphilly.

I am actually looking into a 10k or 12k a mile year lease over 36 months.

Does anyone happen to know what the residual would be on a Plat Premim 4x4 in the New England area would be?
  • CarMan@EdmundsCarMan@Edmunds Member Posts: 38,514
Good question dpjp80. I believe that I only used a one point low mileage adder for Nissan because that's what they always used to provide for 12k leases. I think that they add 2% for 12k leases now so the 60% that you were quoted is indeed correct. Sorry for the confusion. It actually is to your advantage to have a higher residual value anyhow :).

I haven't seen the money factors from NMAC this month for other credit tiers, but I could try to find them out.

Just take the $675 into account when negotiating the selling price of the Pathfinder that you want. If I was in the market for one right now, I personally would shoot for a selling price of say $500 over invoice minus any available cash incentives.

You're going to love the 2013 Pathfinder. Nissan did an amazing job with the redesign of it. In my opinion, it's one of the best values out there for a comfortable 3rd row SUV.

Hi momokawa. Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp.'s May buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36-month lease of a 2013 Pathfinder Platinum Plus 4WD with 12,000 miles per year in the New England area are .00056 and 55% for consumers who qualify for its top credit tier.

The residual value for a lease with 10,000 miles per year would be 1% higher.

There should be a $675 cash incentive on leases of this truck in your area right now. Make sure to take it into account during your negotiations.

    Hi there,

I got quoted the following for the Maryland area - 36 month lease - 54% residual (12k miles/year), .00056 money factor. I think the residual seems low. Can someone verify this? Also, is the $675 incentive good in MD, as well?

    Thank you!!!

I am looking at a Pathfinder Platinum Fwd in the Dallas area and trying to figure out my deal. My first offer was negotiated price of $37,300 from msrp $40,870. Residual 52% mf .00056 for 36 month 12k/year. Cap cost was 39,959.68. With $1000 down they had payments of $553/month but I calculated at $524. Sale price dropped to $36,150. I figure the cap cost should be $38,738 or so with same residual and mf. The offer now is $459/month with $3,000 down. With that much down I calculate it closer to $435/month and honestly would prefer to be with less down and would have it closer to $520/month with $0 up front. Am I calculating wrong or is the dealer hiding something?
  • andremikeandremike Member Posts: 67
That doesn't sound right to me... I'm still learning though... shouldn't your payment be 450 mo. Sale price of 37300. 1000 down and residual of 21252

Hi Car_man. I'm interested in a 2013 Pathfinder SL with minimal additional packages. I see a residual of 59% and money factor of 0.00056 mentioned in previous posts. Do these numbers apply to all regions of the US? If not, what would I be looking at in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area?

Also, I see Nissan offers up to $1,500 in cash incentives comprised of $500 NMAC cash and $1,000 customer cash. Are these cash incentives available for lease deals, or only purchases?

Thanks for your help. From what I see, your information and wisdom here is priceless!
  • CarMan@EdmundsCarMan@Edmunds Member Posts: 38,514
Hi timlajaunie. The money factor that you mentioned is correct for the entire country. The residual value that you mentioned is a little high though. NMAC's current 36-month, 15,000 mile per year residual value for a 2013 Pathfinder SL 4WD is 54%.

The cash incentives that you mentioned are not available on leases. There is a $675 cash incentive on leases of this truck in certain areas, but I'm not sure if Louisiana is one of them.

    Car_man,

Can you give me a hand and let me know the approximate monthly lease price on the below variables in NJ (7% tax)?

    MSRP $44,645
    Negotiated price $40,000
    No money down
    56% residual
    .00056 MF
    $675 Nissan incentive

I am trying to get my monthly payments in and around $475 and am trying to figure out what needs to be negotiated or put out as a down payment to get me there. Is $450 realistic without putting money down? Can you help?

The above for a 3 year 36,000 mile lease

    This is what I calculate:

    MSRP $44,645.00
    Cap Cost $40,000.00
    Fees
    Freight $845
    Processing $489
    Acquisition Fee $595.00
    Total Fees $1,929.00

    Rebates $675.00
    Down Payment $0.00

    Adjusted Cap Cost $41,254.00
    Residual % 56.00%
    Residual Value $25,001.20
    Depreciation $16,252.80
    Term 36
    Money Factor 0.000560

    Month
    Depreciation $451.47
    Interest $37.10
    Pre Tax $488.57
    Tax Rate 7.00%
    Tax $34.20
    Monthly Payment $522.77

This does not include tags. The tax is on the monthly payment only. Some states, I'm not sure if NJ is one of them, will also tax you on the Adjusted Cap Cost (I think). Putting down $1500 will get your payment to $477.29

If I'm wrong anywhere, somebody please let me know so I can adjust my calculations accordingly

I actually think the residual on a Platinum is 55%, not 56%. That would increase the payment by $13.00 a month.
  • jsas1981jsas1981 Member Posts: 7
    sfowler22,

Thank you for your feedback and calculation. This is VERY helpful. I think you are right about the residual - after looking back at my notes from several dealer visits I show actually show different residuals from different dealers. One that I went to last weekend has a 54% residual. Can you recalculate with $2000 down with a 54% residual? In your opinion, what would you categorize as a realistic "good" deal ( total cash out of pocket up front & monthly payment) for this car?

Also, I have 3 payments left on my current lease (Maxima). I am wondering if this is hurting my negotiations or if I should just wait until the lease is over? Thoughts?
  • sfowler22sfowler22 Member Posts: 8
Give me your e-mail and I'll send you the Excel spreadsheet I wrote for calculating lease payments.

What year is your Maxima? They hold their value really well, so if it's in good condition with relatively low miles the dealership might buy it and what's left after it's paid off can be used for the down payment. Check the NADA and Blue Book value to get an idea of what it's worth. Both can be found online.

As far as what is a good deal, check and see what Edmunds here says is a good price. Then use the spreadsheet to figure out what you should pay.

    Good luck!

    sfowler22 - My email is scapicc18@hotmail.com

My Maxima is a 2010 and has 24,150 miles on it and the 39 month 36K mile lease is up at the end of September. Needless to say this car is in EXCELLENT condition and is 12K miles below the allotted amount.

Any clue what the July 4th incentives might be?

    Hi Car_Man,

Can you let me know what the residual, money factor and any incentives for July (July 4th weekend) are? Interested in 39 months and 15,000 miles per year. Interested in the calculation for a Patfinder Premium Platinum & Illuminated Kickplates.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Car_Man,

Can you please provide the numbers/rates on a Pathfinder Platium Premium @ 15k/36 months?

I am researching for my sister and was curious on the money factor/residual. Dealers seem to be coming back around 53% residual...is that correct?

    -Pittsburgh, PA region.

    Thanks!

    Hi Carman

Would you have the Lease rate and residual value for the Pathfinder Platinum AWD for 15,000 miles for both 24 and 36 months.

Also, are the rates different for AWD vs FWD ?

Also, do you know if I can buy additional miles upfront on a Nissan lease and what the upfront mileage charge would be ?

    thanks in advance !!!

    15,000 miles per year
    $0 Down

Just want to share my lease details, I looked at this forum quite a bit prior to biting the bullet.

    2013 Pathfinder Platinum 4x4

Options included: Splash Guards, Roof Rail Cross Bars, Rear Bumper Protector, Floor Mats, Cargo Package, Illuminated Kick Plates.

    MSRP: $43320

Negotiated Cap Cost: $38408 (plus tax, registration, fees, etc) = $40777.77

don't quote me, I believe the MF was .00059 (this is from memory, I had it written down at time of sale, but it's not stated on any paperwork I have in front of me).

    residual $22526.40

    36 months / 15k Mile a year lease - $500/month

Paid first month out of pocket.

It seemed like a decent deal and south of what many have reported here.

Goodluck, I'm sure the deals will even get better over the next month or two as dealers flush out 2013's for the 2014's (which they JUST took delivery of when I purchased this 3 weeks ago).

Just an FYI, I'm in New York.

    Hi Car_Man

Can you please let me know the CA Lease MF and residual on a Pathfinder SV 2WD , 24/36 mo with 12 and 15k for the month of August?

    Thanks for the help.
  • suv733suv733 Member Posts: 1
What do you guys think of this Pathfinder Platinum Premium Lease quote?

    36 month/12k miles per year

    MSRP $45270
    Cap $40600
    Plates/Doc - $338
    Aquisition - $595

    Residual 53%
    Money Factor - .00038

$546.86 monthly payment with $0 down.

Just curious if this is a good price, the MF and Residual is quite different than I've seen in other people's posts, can anyone weigh in?
    Thanks!

    Hi Car_man,

Can I trouble you with the NAMC's August/latest buy in residual for the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder Premium 2-WD? The top tier MF would be appreciated as well.

    Thanks.

I have an 06 envoy danali, AWD and I want to lease a 2013 nissan pathfinder premium for 36 months, 12,000 miles. I was told that the dealership would give me $9,000.00 for my vehicle and my monthly payments would be $395.00 and I wouldn't get any money back. Isn't this a rip off?
I thought I would get a least 4 or $5,000.00 back. Do they have the right to keep all the funds to apply to the deal? If that is the case it seems like my payments should be much lower. The vehicle price was $37,500.

Please help. This is my first time leasing.

    Thanks!!!!

Ask them to cut you a check for the whole $9000 trade-in, and then tell you what the payments will be... Once you get that number, you probably won't want to lease a Pathfinder for $700/mo.

You should never put that much money down on a lease... or, even half that.

I have the 2013 MF at .00038. The 15000 mile residual for an S is 57%. Does anyone here have the 15000 residual for the 2013 Platinum Premium model?
Also do you have the 2014 Platinmum Premium MF and Residual for 15000 miles?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 236,760
For a 36 month lease.. The 2013 Platinum 4X4 money factor is .00038 and the residual is 52% (August numbers)

    2014 model? .00175 and also... 52%

    The S 4X4 model residual for 2014 is 60%!!

I currently own a 2009 Nissan Altima and I am interested in getting on board the lease train with a Pathfinder SL or Platinum 4WD. The dealer said he could get me $12,000 back for the Altima. What are some realistic numbers for what I could expect to pay for a 3-year lease for the SL or the Platinum? I'd really like to get the full trade-in value back and make higher monthly payments rather than put that money towards a down payment on a lease. Any thoughts are welcome!!!

    Hi Car Man,

We are interested in leasing a 2014 SL Pathfinder (or a Platinum trim) for 3 years with 12,000 miles. Can you please tell me the residuals and money factors for September? We are in Maryland in the Washington, DC metro area.

Also, are they still leasing 2013 models? If so, can you please provide those lease rates as well.

    Thanks!
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 236,760
MF is .00175 for all trims..

SL 4X4 has a residual of 56%... Subtract 2% for Platinum or 4X2... subtract 4% for both...

    2013 model is .00038 and 52%... Subtract 1% for Platinum.... 2% for 4X2.. or 3% for both..

Just got 2013 Pathfinder Platinum with Premium Package. Was a demo with 3k miles. Paid $3000 at signing $450/month 39 months 12k miles per year. MSRP $44,645, $2k rebate to dealer, $37,993 total cap cost. Residual $23,312. They even threw in an extended 39k warranty to cover vehicle for 39k total miles, this was worth about $400. Was told we got for about $1800 below invoice, deal was possible due to the $2k rebate from Nissan.

Seems like good deal to me. Also looked at BMW X3, Audi A5, 2014 Toyota Highlander, 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, 2014 Lexus RX350 and 2014 Acura MDX. Compared to what was offered to lease these vehicles for 36 months with at least $3-4k due at signing, the Pathfinder has tons more options and lower payment.
