66%? Are you talking about the residual. I called the local Subaru dealer and the sales manager told me it's more like 64% after 36 months and 12,000 miles... but that even seems a little high to me.
  • tj11119tj11119 Guest, Member Posts: 136
Its one the highest residuals I've seen for this type of vehicle, would be good to get a confirmation from Car_Man.

I do know that some dealers markup the MF by some points, don't know about residuals.... hopefully they are not quoting you April rate.

At that rate, if you can get it at invoice, you are looking at $297 +tax per mo. (12k@36) if my lease calculator is correct, I think that is really really good.

Sorry car man but I was looking forc2014 xt touring mf and residual. 36 months and 10k miles per year.

Hi smokey100. We're talking about a 2014 model here, not the 2013. I am sure that Chase's 36-month, 12,000 mile per year resid for a '14 Forester XT Premium is indeed 66%. this is only for the Premium trim level, it's between 62% and 64% for most other '14 Forester trims.

    Hi Car_Man,

As you can see I am cross-shopping the Forester XT Premium against the CX-5 GT, if you get news of the new april lease rates for a 2014 Forester Premium XT - 36 month lease 12k/15k can you please update us? I am ready to pull the trigger on the best deal I can get, both cars are awesome.

    Thanks!

Hi folks, I'm pricing out a fully loaded 2014 Forester XT Touring. The price I was quoted was $2,500 down / $429 per month / 36 months. That seems about $100 higher per month than I anticipated. I've been eyeing this car for about six months, and I do want it, but this is Lexus RX territory. Has anyone else been quoted prices for the XT Touring? Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
  • cliffpozcliffpoz Member Posts: 71
Was quoted $475/month $0 down, 36 months, 10k miles with NYC taxes rolled in. I passed as price was way too high.

Best thing you ever did..was WALK! You should be able to leas that vehicle with those terms (actually get 15,000 miles per year for a round $265 per month.. if the dealer balks find another one.

65%? Have they lost their marbles? Aren't most cars under 50%?
  • steine13steine13 Member Posts: 2,818
They may just want to have a lot of sales early, to have the cars out there when they're fresh. It's not unusual to have sales on brand-new models, esp. the halo kind (XT).

I do agree it's nuts. I should get one... $3,200 in Subie bucks... that would be one heck of a lease :)

Thanks Car_Man. Just leased a Forester XT Premium over the weekend. Got 65% residual and .00160 for 36 @ 15k just like you said:

2014 Forester Premium MSRP: $29,759 (incl $895 destination and $939 in port installed options.)
    Invoice: $27,714
    Sale price: $27,814

Monthly lease: $311 + tax :shades:

Out of pocket only 595 acquisition fee, 80 doc fee and license/tags.
No trade-in involved, zero down payment, no warranties, no mark ups.

It would have been awesome if I could have gone below invoice, but the XT Premium is difficult to get a hold off right now, specially in socal, so price is fair I guess.

lease @12k/36 would have been $7 less per month, so the 15k is a no-brainer.

Thanks for all the help car_man, your info about the high residual for the subie swayed me over from the CX-5. The forester at this price is a much better value.

    Hi Car_man,

    2 questions:

    (1) On that 36 month lease (2.0 XT Premium), what would the residual be for 10K and 12K miles?

    (2) What would the MF and Resid be for a 24-month lease (10K and 12K)?

    Thanks!

    Ben

No kidding, the '14 Forester's residual values are excellent ateixeira. The funny thing is that Subaru actually doesn't lease many vehicles. I'm leasing one right now. You aren't going to find many reasonably sized AWD models for less.

You're very welcome tijuana19. Can you imagine a fairly large AWD vehicle like the Forester for just over $300 per month. Amazing. This car is absolutely a great value. Enjoy your new ride :)!

    Hi car man,

Hope you are well. I am helping my parents get a 14 XT Premium,

What are the current, May Residual and MF for an XT Premium for,
    1. 36/15k
    2. 36/12k.

Seems like for april it was 65%/00160 for 36/15k, and for 12k the residual was 66%. I wonder if May's numbers are the same. Thank you!
  • porsche911c4sporsche911c4s Member Posts: 99
    Hi car man,

Would you also happen to have the May residual/MF for a 14 2.5i premium?
    1. 36/15k
    2. 36/12k

I would like to see they compare to the turbo.

    thanks!

Im getting mixed signals from two dealers. One dealer quoted a money factor of .00200 the other quoted .00144. We have 800 plus credit scores. Both show a residual value of 61% on 36 months 12k miles. Seems that the residual really took a hit from last month.
  • CarMan@EdmundsCarMan@Edmunds Member Posts: 38,514
I'm doing very well, thanks porsche911c4s. I hope that you are too. Chase's May buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36-month lease of a 2014 Forester XT Premium with 15,000 miles per year are .00144 and 64% for consumers who qualify for its top credit tier.

I believe that Chase provides a 1% bump for leases with 12,000 miles per year.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated, would like to wrap this up next week!

    Hi all & Carman,

I've been contacting multiple dealers in Missouri to find out the best deal for leasing 2014 Forester premium with all weather package. A local dealer gave me a quote:

375 monthly payment (including tax and everything). 36 month lease with 10k yearly mileage.
    Residual value: 17,207

A dealer in St. Louise said that he can do 365 per month with the same condition but it is away from where I live and car would not arrive until August 1st. (4 hours of a round trip).

Do you think this is a reasonable price? If you think I should deal more, what would be the best approach? It seems the demand is very high for Forester and dealers have little intention of dropping price. Any comments would be appreciated!!

got a quote today for the same thing. was $298/mth (includes $3k of down pymt + taxes, fees), for 36 mths, 12k miles.
said that was with vip pricing at invoice, but still didnt feel it was a great deal.

for 10.5k, said it would be about $12 cheaper per month.
  • kjlrockerkjlrocker Member Posts: 5
Since down pymt reduces monthly pymt, yours look almost the same with mine. Are you looking for the same model in Missouri, too? I feel too that this is not a great deal but it seems difficult to negotiate. I wonder how much other folks pay these days.
  • mdubdroidmdubdroid Member Posts: 4
not in missouri. looking at the ny/nj dealers. maybe my lack of experience getting cars, but i just dont get how the quotes I get on '13/'14 Escapes, which are prob $2-3k higher msrp/invoice easily, will come back with cheaper or same quotes as the Subaru.
sure the have more rebates, etc, but final price would still be about the same. I was thinking bc of the lower Subaru price + higher residual %, that the Forester would easily be a better deal, but not having any luck so far.
  • kjlrockerkjlrocker Member Posts: 5
I think you are in more complex situation since you are comparing different makers (Ford vs Subaru). Maybe narrowing down your target will help you better compare the price. I only stick with forester 2014 and I have found some dealers who offered me $ 20 cheaper monthly payment than the first dealer. Good luck.
  • bumbsybumbsy Member Posts: 2
Having a miserable time getting a fair price in NY. $3k total out of pocket, 10k miles with 36 months is landing anywhere from $370 to $454 a month. Please let me know if anyone has had any luck in the NY/NJ/CT area.

It's a fully loaded XT Touring, but the prices are still much higher than what I'm seeing on this board.

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

For a 2.5i LTD with a few minor options (cargo net, etc.) I was quoted $365 after tax in CT. (Dealer says it's $500 over invoice.)

    Lease details:
    36 months
    12k miles
Residual: 61% (this seems LOW compared with previous months!)
    MF: 0.00126 (equals 3.02%)

Up front costs: $921 (doc fee + taxes, plates, bank fee, 1st month)
    Assumed highest credit rating

I'll roll the $595 bank fee into the lease and reduce my up front costs. However, I think I'm missing the lease origination fee, so will have to add that to my up front costs.
  • badger1994badger1994 Member Posts: 21
Here's the lease deal I got this week at Mitchell Subaru in Canton, CT. (This is my second Subaru Forester with this dealer.)

2014 Forester Ltd. (Car was NOT in stock)
    36 months
    10k miles/year
    -All weather mats
    -Rear bumper cover
    -Rear cargo net

Monthly pre-tax: $303.84 ($595 bank fee rolled into lease)
    Up front costs:
    Conveyance: $499
    Plates: $188
    Lease taxes: $695.45

    Money Factor: 0.00126
    Residual: 62% (61% for 12k miles/year)

    Hi,
Has anyone taken advantage of the Subaru financed lease available til Sept 3? Here are the details:
    Requirements and Restrictions:

    * Down Payment: $1,700

    * Security Deposit: N/A

    * Lease Cash: $0

    * Annual Mileage: 12,000

    * Lease is based on the 2014 Forester 2.0XT Touring equipped with Keyless Access Start + EyeSight System + HID. MSRP as equipped is $36,220. $1,972 Dealer contribution is required for the $386 monthly payment. $2,086 is due at signing, Tax, title, registration and insurance fees are not included. Must finance through Subaru Motors Finance.

Monthly Payment Month Term Start End
    $386 36 08/01/2013 09/03/2013

Is this a good deal? Not sure what the money factor or residual value is for this vehicle. I live in IL which I know will cost me dearly for tax, but a lease works out pretty well for me as I like to upgrade every three years. Anyway, any insight would be appreciated.
