Just wondering since my 2002 MS doesn't "beep" any more when you lock it with the remote. "PINOY"; i'm from Zambales... take care

recently when starting to move I hear a clanging noise which seem to be coming from my rear left wheel. It seems to stop when I hit the brakes but then continues when I start to accelerate.
I checked the brake pads, they are fine, and nothing seems loose underneath......
Any ideas what it possible could be?????
anybody replace a catalytic converter on a Montero Sport, I have a 2000 Limited, 93,000+ miles. Any service bulletins or warranty info appreciated, or is this a normal maintenance item? My wife's 92'Pathfinder hasn't needed one yet, has about 160,000 miles. Thanks.

just did mine but at 70k. $1180 sounds just right if you go to a dealer. you dont have to. the timing belt alone is $800. anyway i went to another shop and paid $1000 which includes timing belt repl, water pump repl, major tune up plus i had them replace valve cover gasket. from experience they start go go bad at 80k so might as well.
thats normal. i have the same issue with my 2000 sport ls and my last montero 1989 2 door. its even worse with the 2 door because its a manual shift. i warm up the car for about three to five mins then its ok. it has to be the cold because it does not happen during warmer weather.

But note, the ES and LS both have a 3.0 liter strogiling V6 165hp,188tq meaning not the fastest suv on the road.
I was wondering if any of you have had a similar problem or have an idea about what is going on. I had tires and brakes replaced on my car last year and it has about 65000 miles on it.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Scorpneo

Also the interior lights do not work I checked what I thought was the fuse and it was fine ..any help would be appreciated..
My truck has stalled approximately 10 times over the last year. Most of the times it stalled when I was driving under 40 mph but it has also happened when I have pulled away from a stop sign. I am able to start the car up after a minute or two.
I have taken it to my mechanic and the Mitsubishi dealership. Both could not figure out what the problem was. They said that anything that would cause it to stall, would make it so you couldn't start the vehicle again.
My mechanic replaced the fuel injection relay and it hasn't stalled for the past 6 months but the problem just came back.
Sorry this was long, I wanted to give the whole picture. Any Ideas????????
Yes. You are here.

Did you ever come across a viable fix for your constant brake light on problem. I'm interested in the fix as well for my 1999 Montero. I thought the problem would be with a maladjusted parking brake lever switch but when that didn't make the light go off I was stumped.
I bought the vehicle this way but knew it wasn't a real problem. It is distracting though so I just wanted to know if you ever got an answer for this issue. Thanks.
Thank you
mine as well but have to hold on for another year.
I am having the exact same problem with my 2000 Sport. Was the dealer ever able to diagnose the problem?
To those ends, we will be shutting down the general make/model discussions and work exclusively with specific issues. This requires us to populate the make/model subsections with relevant, interesting and timely topics. Rather than having the hosts simply create boilerplate topics for each make/model, we feel that you, the owner, the make/model enthusiast and the prospective buyer can best judge what those topics should be.
You can help by adding a discussion (it's easy!) or suggesting one here.
To add a discussion, click on the last link in the "You are here" line at the top of this page. That will take you to the topic page for this make/model. Review the list of topics and click on the "Add discussion" link when you've decided what topic you'd like to add. Follow the directions and you're done! Feel free to add more than one. Just avoid duplicating existing topics and try not to make it TOO specific!
Your help and continued participation in the Forums is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Usually you have to take the radio out to get the serial number, and then the dealer (or places on the internet) will give you the code for that radio. You may be able to just ease the frame around the radio off with a butter knife and see the sticker on the radio with the serial number.
Sometimes you can find the code in the owner's manual or on cards that came with the card. It should be a four digit number.
Many dealers will give you the code for free if you tell them the radio serial number and the VIN of the car; if yours won't ask to speak to the manager (mention the price you paid for your last service!) or try another Mitsu dealer.
btw, the Edmunds Maintenance Guide says that a 60,000 service should cost about $732. You may want to ask the dealer what else they did to justify the extra cost or visit your local consumer protection agency and complain.
Good luck!
Thanks
John
I have a quick question regarding the A/T Mode button. Whenever I push this button a light on my instrument panel appears and it says "hold" how do I make the All terrain mode engage?
