But seriously... Do you hear something like wind blowing when you sit and listen or is it only when driving at 60pmh?
Interesting you placed a magnet, I wonder if it is some sort of electrical current creating a vibration and the magnet absorbs it out.
2. I don't think I can hear B-pillar strange sound when just sitting and listening. I can hear it either when driving, or open and close the front door but not the rear door.
3. Actually I tried both magnet and other stuff like some sponge scotch taped to B-pillar. All stuff, as long as it's not too small, can make the hollow soung go away. Therefore I don't think it's the current issue. I may use a long plastic piece and double sided tape to fix it.
Very strange about the B-pillar, I'll try listening myself and see if I can detect anyhting.
How easy is installation, do we just place the trim kit over the existing interior components or do they have to be removed first?
Also do you know if anyone has a wood trim kit for the shift lever handle, as I didn't see one on their site?
I don't see a kit for wood trim kit for the shift lever handle and I am not sure where it could be bought.
If tying the hoses tighter at the firewall dosen't fix it, they said the only other thing to try is to remove the dash to replace the heater core element. Although I don't hear it all the time, when I do it is very annoying even with the radio playing.
Thanks.
I'm supposing that the difference between your left & right sides is not that dramatic (as should be the case). However, if your right-side beam is lighting up the front doors of homes on your right, you may want to have your lighting system checked out by your Infiniti dealership...
You reminded me of the same thing I read a while back. It makes sense and yes, my left light is off but not by a lot. I have made an appointment with the dealer and I'll listen to what they'll say.
Just read the Q45 headlight info from infiniti.com and one picture shows the "off alignment" pattern. BTW Jack, how much is it for a 15K service? TKS

AH GESS MAH REEDING KOMPREEHENSHUN IZ A LITUL BAAD.
It is amazing how much people want to charge for some very minor work. You can save tons of money without having to be a mechanic.
Before the first replacement I'll rotate them myself.
Thanks crete for your input.
All in all they did a very nice job except for two things. They left lots of greasy finger marks on some of the leather seating and now the right side mirror adjustment is not working. Even though they cleaned up most of the greasy marks, I think I'll get some lexol cleaner for the whole interior. Plus I still have to return to have them check the mirror. Very annoying and fustrating, but one thing I found was that I really missed driving my QX4.
I'm afraid of choosing the wrong shocks. I would like the original ride quality back. And should I replace everything (springs, bearings, mounts)?
I'm looking into upgrading my '01 I30t to a '03 QX4 2WD, and am wondering what your impressions are regarding the acceleration and braking characteristics of the '02 or '03 QX4.
I know it's an SUV, and that the acceleration & braking numbers posted in the auto magazines aren't really that impressive. However, there's a reason why the VQ-series engine is an award winner (and so widely used in both Nissan & Infiniti's line of popular vehicles), and the 227 hp version in my I30t is quite impressive. Incidentally, I was able to squeeze out a few extra ponies (and notice a slight performance boost) by installing a $45 K&N air filter, and I'm wondering if any of you have been able to do any slight modifications to enhance your engine performance as well.
I've always wondered why Infiniti has yet to introduce rear disc brakes on this $35K+ luxury SUV, and I'd appreciate any experiences you might have on this vehicle's braking abilities.
I'll be heading in to my local Infiniti dealership in the near future for a test drive in an '03 QX4. However, I know I won't be able to get away with "stomping" on the accelerator or "mashing" on the brake pedal (for fear of sending the sales rep. either through the windshield or into the back seat...).
Any comments from owners (particulary of the '02 model year with the 240hp engine upgrade) would be of assistance. Owner's forums such as these are a tremendously valuable source of information that manufacturer's brochures can never provide.
Thanks again.
I have 00 RX300 and 02 QX4 4WD. Before QX4 I had 96 Maxima. Of cause QX4 is slower than Maxima but I found it's quick and faster enough for me. Braking is very good. I had one occasion. A pedestrian walked accross a street in an non-crossing sign section. The car in front of me suddenly stopped. The road surface is sandy with maybe very small rocks in where I applied hard brake. My QX4 was fully under my control.
The only real thing I don't quite like is QX4 is noisier overall compared to RX300.
Discs are less prone to fade, but rear drums last longer (before pad or caliper replacement), particularly under offroad or snow/slush/salt conditions. The front wheels kick up alot of junk onto the *exposed* rear discs. Trucks and SUVs are expected to see more of these sorts of conditions, so rear drums are still a consideration.
I agree that some of the interior buttons, knobs, handles, etc. are of lesser quality and plastics.
I think the QX4 inherited these from the Nissan Pathfinder. However I think Infiniti did a good job blending them in and making it less noticeable of their inferior quality.
BTW, I heard BMW X5's have had many problems with their door handles peeling, true? Some owners have gone through two sets of handles.

Just curious, since we never seem to have any reports from people who go back to OEM.

*Good engine, pulls strongly for a V6
*Smooth transmission, though it's only a 4 speed
*I actually like the stereo better than the X5, more bass plus 6CD changer in dash
*The lighting on the dash is clear for both night and day
*The HID headlights are height-adjustable, something that really annoyed me on the X5 because it was pointed too low. Now I can raise it anytime I' like
*True 4WD drive
*With current deals, it's relatively cheap.
Didn't it have the same type of Ignition Immobilizing security system similar to the QX4?
They won't start unless the chip in the key is the correct one programmed for that vehicle. Isn't that what we have in the QX4?
I've heard the best thing to do is to put in an electronic fuel pump shut-off. But then again, it can always be flatbedded or towed away:)

As for car theft, there was a trend in the early 90's in the UK where thieves would climb under the car, cut the handbrake cable and tow the car away. Of course that only worked on manual transmissions, which are very common there.
