You did really well with your 2010RX price. Maybe I need to contact your dealer. Can you list that? Now, I wanted to find a loaded 2009-350RX for $35. That sounds reasonable if you can get the 2010 for $6 more. Every sales person says I just can't do it. I do think I want the AWD instead of just FWD to pull my boat out of the water, but "maybe" I could do without that. Any ideas? I have a 21 foot ski boat (that looks bigger than the car. It has a V8 engine in it. I looked up the specs and it's about 50 pounds less than the 09 Lexus says is recommended to pull--but I thought I needed the AWD just to pull up the ramp).

Any ideas on what to tow your 21' boat with? -- Sure, something with reasonable towing capacity, i.e., not a lexus RX.

    1. Being right on capacity is never a good idea.
    2. Did you include the trailer weight in your calculation?

Seriously, if that's what you need, buy a truck.
  • jayvisjayvis Member Posts: 76
If you want an SUV to tow your boat, check out the Toyota 4Runner or Sequoia. They will give you the towing capacity you're looking for. The RX350 just isn't designed to do what you want.

Shopping for a AWD 2010 RX350. So far the best price I have received is $43,772 plus taxes and lic fees, with an MSRP of $46,016. So I will keep shopping Lexus and other brands until I find a good deal. One dealer which I met a few weeks ago had one with a $45,842 MSRP, I offered 41,000 plus tax and lic and the sales person said wait for 6 months and you will have a deal. I thought that was funny.

I don't think the $43772 is a great price. I suspect you will be able to do better.

On the other hand the $41000 you offered on the $45842 vehicle, I believe, is just about at cost. Maybe offer $42K.

    Please keep us all updated.

    Is KBB correct?
Carsdirect.com, using your configuration, puts MSRP at $44807 and invoice $40590 . Wheel locks should be $81 you list $330?

That's a lot of profit: $3,742.77, on top of $525 advertising fee and $389 dealer prep.

Exclude those 2, you paid $1,405 above invoice.
  • oballoball Member Posts: 6
The wheel lock (WL) line should have been for the Wood Trimmed steering wheel and shifter (WU) I omitted that. Upon further checking the Invoice on the Comfort package was $1,600 not $1,699 as shown-my mistake for typing to fast! So here it is again for the package. The totals are correct in the first post:

    Selling price = $41,170.44 +$825 shipping +$525 advertising +$389 dealer prep = $42,909.46.

    2010 RX 350 FWD$31,832/$36,800
    Comfort Package (CP) $1,600/$2,000
    19" Wheels (FT) $528/$660
    Navigation (NV) $2,052/$2,440
    12 speaker audio (EK) $88/$110
    Premium Package (PM) $2,028/$2.400
    Cargo mat (C1) $55/$92
    Cargo net (GN) $35/$59
Wood Trimmed Steering Wheel and Shift Knob (WU) $264/$330
    Wheel Locks(WL) $51/$81
Destination (not added for dealer at this point/$825

Your selling price of $42,909.46. is that the out the door price you paid, or is that before tax or license fees.
  • oballoball Member Posts: 6
That is before before tax-I didn't want to show tax as yours may be different than mine-
  • rparisrparis Member Posts: 368
Was the documentation fee part of the dealer prep or was doc fee additional?

Basically , you got about a $2900 discount.

Just arrived home with my new 2010 RX...MSRP $46.7K, purchase $41.2K+ documentation fee, tax, title, license. No hassle, no pressure at Ray Catena in Monmouth, NJ. Visited several dealers and got attitude and high quotes ($45K to $46K--take it or leave it kind of attitudes). Heard about Ray Catena's on this forum, sent email requesting quote, got call the next day. Told them what I was willing to pay--$41K, one phone call later, had the ballpark I wanted and the offer of an interest rate at 5.25% versus the 5.49% I already had lined up. In and out today with trade in and no pressure from a finance manager to buy extended warranties, extra add-ons, no tricks. Matter of fact, they have no "finance department"--the sales person does it all. I understand they are one of the biggest Lexus dealers in the nation and were very busy today...I can only guess their volume is allowing them to beat their competition hands down.
  • rparisrparis Member Posts: 368
You received a $5500 discount which, I thought was basically cost or even under cost which makes 0 sense. I wonder where/how the dealer is making a profit? Their discount is so much more than anyone I have communicated with How much was the documentation fee? By some small chance, did they comment on their pricing policy?

    Thanks

Thats a great price. I live in maryland but I think it'd be worth the 2 hour drive to save a couple 1000. What was included in the 41.2k price. I'm looking for and 2010 RX350 AWD Nav, Premium, Comfort pkg. Thanks!
  • sideways3sideways3 Member Posts: 13
Doc. fee was 249.00. No comment on pricing policy but a previous poster received a very similar price from the dealer and that's why I contacted them. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
  • sideways3sideways3 Member Posts: 13
Price included AWD, navigation, premium & comfort packages, wood trimmed steering wheel, wheel locks, and cargo mat. Web site is raycatenalexus.com. Request a quote and based on my experience they will contact you promptly--unlike others I tried to get quotes from that never responded. I purchased from out of state as well and they knew exactly what to do to get registration and all the PA paperwork cared for.

    Hi Everybody,

Does anybody know for sure if the financing rate Lexus gives through Lexus Financial Services is negotiable?

I'm looking to buy a certified pre-Owned 2007 RX 350 and they tell me the rate for 60 months is 5.9%. I know I can make it a short-term loan to receive the 2.9%, but I would rather keep the loan for 60 month.

I also know I could check out a couple of banks, which I did, to get a better rate. Bank of America's rate is 0.09% less, but has a $200 application fee and a slew of other hoops to jump through. AAA rates are good too, but again there are a bunch of hoops.

Also, for what it's worth, I have great credit.

    Thanks in advance!!!

    Sideways3,

I wonder if they made their money on your trade in. What was your trade in and how much did they give you for it.
  • sideways3sideways3 Member Posts: 13
Trade was not part of the price discussion. Once we agreed on the purchase price I told them I had a vehicle to trade.

Pentagon Federal credit union offers 3.99 % financing for 60 mos new or used vehicles. If you don't qualify for membership you can join for $25.00. :)
  • degirldegirl Member Posts: 45
Did the 41. K paid included the 825.00 destination charge?
    Thanks
  • sideways3sideways3 Member Posts: 13
Yes, destination charges were already included. The only thing not included was tax, title, license and $249 documentation fee.

Anyone have any experience buying from Pohanka Lexus in Chantilly or Lindsay in Alexandria? Pohanka acts as if they are doing you a favor to offer $1000 off MSRP.

Also, not sure I understand how they are doing pricing these days. If the MSRP is $46825 and includes the $825 transportion charge, how is it any kind of deal to say it's $1000 off and then tell you the new price is plus Taxes, tags, transportaion and doc fees?? Seems like it's only $175 off.

    Thanks.
  • rparisrparis Member Posts: 368
MSRP includes the $825 so, it seem to me the new price should not include an additional transportation charge. Also, a $1000 off, based on earlier posts, is not a good discount.
  • stanglx718stanglx718 Member Posts: 22
    Thanks degirl,

I don't qualify for PenFed's membership since I'm not in the geographic area. However, I did find that a local credit union has a rate of 4.49%, much better than Lexus’s 5.9% for 60 mo.

I still wonder if Lexus's rates are adjustable.

    Regards,

    hey stanglx718,
I doubt the dealership can change the rates dictated by Lexus/Toyota Financial Services. However, many dealers also have connections with a variety of financing sources. If they think they could lose your deal because Lexus' rate is too high, they would usually be glad to help you find financing elsewhere (even though they get some benefit by pushing you towards Lexus own finance arm).

I think all you have to do is join the NMFA for $20, and you are automatically eligible to join PenFed CU..

You can do it right on PenFed's website..

$1000 off MSRP is better than nothing. Different buyers, based on their residence, are subject to different taxes. Therefore, tax, tag and title will never be printed on the window sticker. Afterall, would you throw $1,000 out the window? New cars do not have the market up they use to have. Enjoy your new RX.
  • soonercatsoonercat Member Posts: 48
Since we are all experiencing such a wide variety of market prices I wonder if better deals are occurring where home foreclosure rate/unemployments rates rising the fastest? Tulsa has minimal discount on Lexus so things must be well here.

Bought a brand new 2010 RX350 for 41500 plus tax, title, reg and documentation. MSRP was 47253. Bought in Massachusetts. Ended up being 800 below invoice (including LDA). Includes nav package, premium package, comfort package, wood trimmed steering wheel & shift knob, towing prep package, 12 speaker premium audio, 19" wheels. I had financing lined up at 3.75%, but had to go with dealers financing at 3.99% to get the deal. Not a big difference since I would have paid 150$ activation fee to get the 3.75% rate. Went on 03/31 so the dealer was ready to work on the price.
This is my first lexus so am really looking forward to enjoy the car.
  • rparisrparis Member Posts: 368
Please let me know the name of the dealer as you did great. I am in the market.

How much was the doc fee?

Did you have a trade and how did you negotiate 800 below cost??

I have not heard of below cost on this forum, best price so far on the forum for a 2010.
  • bond8bond8 Member Posts: 33
Bought it from Herb chambers lexus. Really nice guys. Doc fees was 289$. No trade in. I know this price is unheard of and they said they cannot do it every day. Since I went on the last day of the quarter they were willing to negotiate the price. Had been to a dealer in RI but they had too much attitude.
  • rparisrparis Member Posts: 368
I guess there is truth to going the end of the month to purchase for the best deals.

It would be great if you would elaborate on the negotiation process-I am looking at a car at about the same MSRP, but being offered a much much higher net price. Did you offer them well below invoice to start or did they just offer you a great price right off, one you could not turn down? I assume there were no other fees other than the doc fee, taxes, title, etc. Lexus must offer bonuses to dealers if they sell a certain amount of cars each month and, maybe , your car put them over the top??

    Thank you.

Folks I drove off with this deal yesterday:

    2010 RX350 FWD + NAV + Premium Plus package

    Through LFS, 48months/40K Miles

$5000 down (cap cost is $3K+ first month+title+etc)
    $499/month INCLUDING taxes.

It was important for me to keep the monthly to $499, so I put down $5K. Also note these numbers include taxes for LOS ANGELES County.

    What do you think? Thanks.
  • soonercatsoonercat Member Posts: 48
Total paid over 4 years is $29,000 with taxes on a $47k MSRP car. However, only 40k miles--I would have liked 48k miles just in case I took a trip or three. Sounds reasaonable given todays residuals and normal money factors.

Does anybody know when the rx450h will be out?
  • bigboss001bigboss001 Member Posts: 12
Soon. There is an announcement yesterday from Toyota. The rumor is as early as May 5th. End of May is probably more possible...

Lexus Announces Pricing for All-New 2010 RX 450h and 2010 IS Convertible
TORRANCE, Calif. (April 23, 2009) – Lexus today announced the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the all-new 2010 RX 450h hybrid luxury utility vehicle and the 2010 IS250C and IS350C retractable hardtop convertibles. The original RX400h was the world’s first luxury hybrid vehicle when it debuted in 2005, and the all-new second-generation RX 450h once again raises the bar for design, engineering and luxury innovation in the segment. The 2010 RX 450h carries a base MSRP of $41,660 for the front-wheel drive (FWD) model and $43,250 for the all-wheel drive (AWD) version.

Continuing the performance and styling trends set by the IS luxury sport sedans, the ISconvertible provides the expressiveness of a convertible and the sporty styling of a coupe while expanding Lexus’ strong presence in the entry luxury segment. The 2010 IS250C will have a MSRP of $38,490 when equipped with a six-speed manual transmission; the IS250C with a six-speed automatic transmission will be $39,660. The IS350C will have a MSRP of $43,940.

    RX450h

The 2010 RX 450h introduces an updated version of Lexus Hybrid Drive, featuring a 3.5-liter V6 Atkinson-cycle engine, lighter electric motors, a smaller and lighter power-control unit and other fuel-saving innovations. It offers up performance similar to V8s with better combined fuel economy than the average four-cylinder mid-size sedan. With an EPA-estimated 32 mpg city and 28 mpg highway (30 mpg combined) –30 mpg city, 28 mpg highway (29 mpg combined) for the AWD – it earns 16-20 percent better fuel economy than its acclaimed predecessor. While achieving improved fuel economy, the new RX450h produces 295 total system horsepower, 27 more than the current generation RX400h. It will achieve Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) certification in California (Tier 2-Bin 3 in other states), producing nearly 70 percent fewer smog-forming emissions than conventionally powered vehicles.

Active safety features include the available Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM), which governs all of the vehicle’s standard dynamic handling systems – the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRAC) – employing them collectively and seamlessly to make corrections while allowing higher dynamic capability. The new RX adopts Hill-start Assist Control, which uses brake pressure to help prevent the vehicle from moving backward when starting out on an incline. The RX450h also has the available new Intelligent Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), and the Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

The 2010 RX450h is equipped with a segment-leading 10 standard airbags, including side curtain airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, rear side airbags (for the outboard seating positions) and knee airbags for the driver and the front passenger.

It features new wider standard 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, which were designed to appear as if carved from a single block, and 235/60R18 tires. Optional unique 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 235/55R19 tires are available.

Lexus’ available next-generation Hard Disc Drive (HDD) navigation system eliminates the need for DVD map discs and offers a unique voice recognition system, which can work using casual-language inputs on certain functions. A distinctive Remote Touch controller allows the user to operate the navigation system, climate, audio, phone controls and more. The screen menus are selected with the controller, eliminating the need to reach out or avert eyes from the road. The attribute that most distinguishes Lexus’ navigation controller from other devices in other luxury models is its “haptic”-feedback technology, which provides a tactile response to the hand.

The new RX450h accommodates a variety of music sources, providing auxiliary and available USB inputs, Bluetooth® Audio wireless connectivity and standard XM® satellite radio capability (requires subscription), which is also joined by XM NavTraffic® and XM NavWeather®.

An optional rear-seat entertainment system includes two high-definition seven-inch screens, one on each of the front seatbacks. The available wide-view side monitor and backup monitor each help provide the driver with a wider range of visibility.

The all-new RX450h is now available with a Heads-Up Display (HUD) that offers displays for speed, navigation, and audio. High-intensity LEDs project high-contrast white figures onto the windshield, which are easier to read – and easier on the eyes – than the typical green-colored readouts.

    Thanks bigboss:

it appears the HTC will be available in May but the release is saying mid summer for the hybrid RX (when we started this the RX was coming out in Jan and Hybrid in April--now we are looking at 3-4 months later-prob late July. I wonder if something is wrong with the Hybrid)

I am thinking that if I can get a decent discount on the regular 2010 RX I will just do that and not wait. Our old car is literally falling apart so I may not have a choice.

    How do you think
    msrp 49500.
dealer offers 45k. is it good deal?
  • restonhamrestonham Member Posts: 9
It's generally better to work up from the invoice you build on Edmund's or elsewhere, but $4,500 off MSRP is pretty decent as long as they don't try to add on any other charges to it. For instance, the transportation charge that's in the MSRP should not be repeated. Nor should anything else. Your $45K should be the final price before taxes, tags and any doc fee (but you can try to get that reduced or eliminated also). And then don't fall for all the crap that the finance guy tries to add on. I paid $1K over invoice, but that was on a less expensive MSRP than yours. Sounds like you are very close to that.
  • rparisrparis Member Posts: 368
I think $4500 off invoice is quite good, assuming there are no other charges aside from taxes, registration, etc. However, an earlier post indicated the price that person paid was $800 under invoice which is the best I have heard of. In what state are you located?

    Was a trade involved?

    Please keep us informed.

It seems regularly the prices are dropping. Maybe the dealer will contact you and offer to go down more or maybe Lexus will come out with an incentive.
