Lincoln MKZ and Acura TL are factory tuners?

    What in the world...

2008 Audi R8 Compact Coupe, supposed to be available this summer.

I wouldn't exclude it because it's not a sedan, but it's up to you. There's only one discussion on it right now, and that's in Future Vehicles.

    patpat Member Posts: 10,421
He means the TL-S, but there's not a separate category for it.
  • Options
    louisweilouiswei Member Posts: 3,715
    Got it.

But what about the MKZ? Is that a factory tuned sedan? If so, what is the base model?

    allargonallargon Member Posts: 75
The BMW M3 is NOT a sedan.

Please add the Subaru Impreza WRX STI and the Chrsyler 300C STR8.

I also agree that the MKZ doesn't belong here. It's a luxury sedan. It's in the same league as the Lexus ES350. It just has AWD.

If we're going to include the Audi S6, then we can include the Audi RS4, the BMW M5, the Mercedes E55 AMG, the Jaguar S-Type R and the Cadillac STS-V. Please add the above or state any objections as to why they shouldn't be included.

...and when the Lexus IS-F comes out later this year don't forget to include that too.

I suggest the Pagoni Zonda, and the Panoz Esperanza. "Factory tuned and all?

As well the GT500 Cobra, and the Z06 Vette.

Let's just see if we can't "tear the roof off this mother" and talk about all things related to the English language.

Can we add a place to post recipes? My Pot roast is to die for.

dhamilton, I would love to have the recipe of your pot roast...

I would add to the list of the following models:

    Honda Civic Si
    Mitsubishi Gallant Raliart
    Audi S8
    All Chevy's SS models
    All Dodge's SRT models
    Mazda Mazdaspeed 3
    Mazda Mazdaspeed 6
    All MB's AMG sedans

We are limited to 9 categories. Rocky started this discussion, so his call what's in those categories.

That's not to say other vehicles can't be included, they just won't be listed at the top. And that's unfortunate, because what it means is if someone searches on a vehicle not listed at the top, this discussion will not turn up. :(

I know pat, was just think out loud. However, to have MKZ included in this prestigious list of cars still puzzles me though.

Okay, cool.......I've seen that car before on this site but forgot what it was called. ;)

    Rocky

P.S. You can include the R8 in the discussion because it sure looks "factory tuned" to me. :)

    loiswei,

I've read on a few websites about a SVT tuned MKZ in the pipeline for 09'. It suppose to have a Twin Turbo engine from the MKS and rumored to be AWD only to counter it's FWD drive train. I guess when I was filling out the category's I thought about it. So it's 2-3 years away and if you don't want to talk about it until it gets here that's fine also. We have plenty of others that currently exist and/or will be out next year or so to talk about ;)

I personally don't care allargon. If host "Pat" wants he can feel free to change the title for the last time to

    "Performance Oriented Factory Tuner Automobiles"

I just wanted to keep the focus on the "Factory Tuner" side.

I agree the SVT MKZ, isn't out yet and can lay in the woods for now. It's still a couple of years away.

You can feel free to talk about the SRT's, RS-4's, S6's, STS-V, just as long as they are performance enhanced at the factory. ;)

    Thanx,

    Rocky

I agree........That car will exactly fit the topic I would like to talk about. The IS-F is a "factory tuner" car.

If you guys want 2-doors to be included I don't care. I just ask that the forum be focused on "factory tuned" and was at first trying to narrow it down to sedans. Obviously y'all have objected and over ruled me which is okay with me ! :P

Honda Civic Si -That's stretching it isn't it ???? Now the Type-R is a for sure yes !!!!

Mitsubishi Gallant Raliart- Ummmm....What makes it a factory tuned car ???? I don't know much about it honestly ?

    Audi S8-Yes

All Chevy's SS models- a HHR SS is more trim than engine isn't it ? But yeah I suppose Chevy SS could be included.

What makes a factory tuned car IMHO is suspension, engine, brake, and in some cases interior upgrades.

    All Dodge's SRT models-Yes

    Mazda Mazdaspeed 3->yes
    Mazda Mazdaspeed 6->yes

    All MB's AMG sedans-> Yes

Well we can axe the MKZ for now. ;)

Does that make you happy :)

I will have to look for the SVT MKZ article I read somewhere on the net !!!!

Okay, Rocky - I changed the name, added the R8 and dropped the MKZ. Don't forget there can only be nine listed so if you tell me to add something, you've got to tell me what to drop.

    Have fun. :)

    Subaru STi vs 08' EVO-X ???? :shades:

Who's going to win this tuner battle and why ????

Who wins ? powertrain ? technology ? reliabilty, etc ?

Which car performs better on the track ? which car performs better on highway? Which car handles better, and can you prove it ? Which car wins the stop-light races ????

Which car gets the chic's (styling) :shades:

Aight, Rocky, since I got a few minutes until my next meeting, I'll entertain you on this topic...

Who's going to win this tuner battle and why

Historically speaking, the STi is always "purer" than the Evo without all the technology nannies. On the other hand, from numerous comparisons (especially the top gear), driving Evo is like playing a video game, one can drive it as aggressive as possible but the computer will sort everything out. To me I think it's a toss up. If you want full control, go with STi; a PS3/Xbox360 on wheels, then Evo.

Which car gets the chic's (styling)

Neither will get the "chicks" IMO (well, at least not my kind of chicks). The styling for both cars are too "ricey" for my taste so I would never consider these in any given time of my life.

The chick-magnets in this group of cars are the M3 and CTS-V. Those 2 are aggressive in a subtle way but yet elegant. IS-F is close but lacks the "subtle" and "elegant" characteristics in my opinion (also too ricey). I think a regular IS body with a mild all around side-skirt, lower the suspension, 19" rims, fender vent like the M3's and the stacked quad-pipe will be better looking than the current IS-F. AMGs wouldn't be bad choices either if you are into 40-plus chicks (that's IMO of course). :P

PS, If I offended any female members with this post I am sorry. Y'all can be angry at Rocky because he started it...

Ummmm, I was hoping you would generalize on the chic part :P

My mother is in her late 40's and likes the TL Type-S, Infiniti G35, Lexus IS 350, and loves the CTS-V

suck at posting links, but, winding road has video, and sound of the Audi R8 being tested.

    Wow........talk about car porn.

Rocky, even the die hard GM lover has to admit the sound of this car is like crack cocaine.

Mom, likes GM, cars the best but does like some styles from import brands. Her favorite car ever was the 2002' Pontiac Trans-Am WS-6

Wrong board - check out the discussions on the Automotive News & Views board for discussions on those two subjects.

We're focusing on the cars themselves here instead of the manufacturers.

I went to the Chicago Auto Show and took some photos of the new Lexus IS-F. The car is hot. Check out the rear end!

I put a deposit on this car, can't wait to get it!

    Enjoy.

I don't like it at all (the IS-F). From the side it sort of looks like a G35 sedan.

It does to you ? It looks like a regular IS 350 to me with some minor changes to the exterior. :confuse:

It does look like the 350 (which I drive) but it has the extra body bits... Of course I like the Brembo's, BBS wheels and of course the 400+ hp!

What is the horspower rating on the new IS-F ? I've heard
    490 hp, 500hp, ?

Either way it will be quite fast......

    rockyleerockylee Member Posts: 14,014
I agree a rocket but for the same money one can buy a 09' CTS-V when it comes available and I personally would rather have the extra 110+ horsepower and room of the CTS-V to haul myself and my family around. ;)

    hi Folks,

Here are some photos of the Audi R8, a hot 420 HP six speed, loaded w/ carbon fiber and other cool things (including the rear engine V8).

Is that a rear engine or mid engine?

You can view the photos at http://www.taxicabs.com/autoshow/chicago2007/Audi/R8/

The first 5 photos are lower quality, so I went back to the Auto show with a new camera, and took 15 more photos. Just click on the photo of the R8 to move to the next photo.

    Enjoy,

    Dave
