Does anyone know if Mitsubishi has OEM roof rack crossbars available?

    hey rcpax:

What do you think of the lED light color of gauges? is the color comfortable on human eyes? Does it look harsh at night??
  • rcpaxrcpax Member Posts: 580
Very comfortable. It has 6 levels of brightness that you can easily adjust to suit your taste. :)

I'm so pleased with my purchase. The specs: Black on black XLS with Navigation, Sun & Sound, and Luxury packages. :shades:

Now that's sharp! After seeing these in Black I think I'm actually starting to like that color more than the Dark Gray (can't remember the "official" name at the moment) that I had previously liked. Black seems to show off the curves better. Very nice truck! :)

Happy for you, I ordered mine in Dec. 2006 and still waiting for the delivery.

Check with my dealer and they said Black color no stock, have to wait until April 2007. Now thinking of getting the silver color, M grade.

Awesome looking vehicle. I ordered mine in December and I'm still waiting for delivery as well. I originally wanted a Black on Black (XLS, nav, luxury, S and S) but it would be sometime in March before I got one. Went with the grey instead. Should be here sometime this week. Can't wait!!! :)
  • bimmer_girlbimmer_girl Member Posts: 19
I guess I got lucky then. A week ago I asked for the black on black and they had ONE in San Antonio (I'm in Houston) and they traded with the dealer. I just had to have the black, it was pretty sweet. My second choice would have been grey, but I had a grey civic at the time and was sick of the color. :) I'm sooo happy I got my black on black. Stick with it, it's totally worth it! ;)

It makes me feel a little better that I'm not the only one waiting. No dealer has AWD XLS with nav, luxury, S and S in New York City. The original delivery day was between early to mid Jan. They called me week ago that it'll be a little delay and I'm still waiting.
  • mictramictra Member Posts: 11
I posted back in December as I to was also waiting for one. Well I picked it up as promised Black on Black w/S&S and Lux last week. As for the nav unit I already have a pretty expensive portable Garmin unit. It seems black on black are hard to come by. When the dealers got the Mid-Jan delivery he said he got no less than 7 calls for the car from dealers on the day they got the car. However a week ago I know Wantagh had a fully load Gray one. I don't think the dealers are willing to part with their inventory, especially with the in-demand ones. I would recomend you to call all the dealerships in the tri-state rather than wait for one dealer to locate one. Just my opinion.

Already made the deal with a dealer in Bronx. I reserved the silver AWD XLS with nav, luxury, S and S for $35 over invoice. I will get one as soon as the shipment arrived. Thank for the advice, Mictra. I guess you're in NY too since you know the area pretty well.

Only 3 Outlanders so far? Where are the others? :) Take pride in your ride. ;)
  • dodo2dodo2 Member Posts: 496
And all black? Black is a nice color, but no one aqua or white?
  • clutchguy77clutchguy77 Member Posts: 25
Can you change the colors as well?? The orange looks hideous! This is one of my only complaints about the vehicle, the instrument gauges look very cheap and "Atari-ish". Wish they would have done a better job.
  • rcpaxrcpax Member Posts: 580
For the Navi, you have the choice of blue or red, but for the instrument matrix panel display, it's not actually orange but red, and I don't think you can change that. As a correction to my previous post, there are actually 8 levels of brightness, not 6.

The red display on black background really stands out in all lighting conditions, day and night. I don't really know if any other color would have the same legible effect.
  • clutchguy77clutchguy77 Member Posts: 25
The 2 that I test drove were both orange. It's kind of confusing as some of the display pics on here look orange and some look red. All i know is this...I hope when i get mine it looks red and not orange.
  • rcpaxrcpax Member Posts: 580
The matrix display has actually both yellow and red display colors, which I forgot to mention, but most of the time it's on red color. The display usually briefly flashes as all yellow when it's giving a warning. The usual warning I get is when the outside thermo gets a reading of 37 deg F or lower, and when I turn on the key, the display turns yellow instead of red, and tells me to be cautious and that I might expect ice on the road, and then returns to the red color again.

From the pics I posted it does look like orange, must be the camera. :)

Does the outlander gauge display in same color as mazda CX7?

Come on, Outlander owners! Like rcpax said, let's see some more pictures!!! Sheeesh!! :P

Does anybody know how to post pics on here?? I tried to copy and paste but it didn't work......
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
There's instructions in the Help link at the bottom.

An easy way is to copy the pics to your CarSpace Album since you need a place to "host" the photos - just follow the prompts there to upload the photos from your computer.

Then when you click on a photo in your Album, you'll see a couple of boxes underneath the photo. Copy the text in the "Embed image: (put picture on your page)" box and paste it in a post and that should work.
  • clutchguy77clutchguy77 Member Posts: 25
Thanks...I'll try that as soon as it warms up outside. I'm in Wisconsin and I'm not screwing around with any pics until it gets warmer out. :)

I guess the only proud owners are us cool people with the black rides :shades:

other colors surely must represent! :P

I'm in the market for an Outlander. My dealer only has black interior versions in stock. How do you folks feel about the beige leather interior? In some photos, the plastic dashboard still appears to be black with the rest of the interior being beige. Does the all black interior look better?
  • rcpaxrcpax Member Posts: 580
In my Outlander, beige interior looks great. I love it. Black interior is nice too. Initially, the dealer offered me a Black on black XLS, but 2WD, so I didn't take it because I was looking for 4WD. When the 4WD arrived, I was expecting it to be black as with all other Outlanders in stock but to my surprise it has beige interior, which was actually a plus for me. IMO, beige looks classy, and black sporty. One more thing I found about the beige color is that it accentuates the features of the interior, and somehow it adds to the overall visibility inside. Either way they're both good, it's just a matter of personal preference.

    Red Outlander for UK :shades:
  • carstalkcarstalk Member Posts: 16
Beautiful Phoenix Red. I'm glad Mitsu offers this color & Desert Sand Beige in the US now. I was holding out for more exterior colors, so I'll definitely get within as soon as they're available at local dealership.

I need one of those $1,000 calibrated monitors - this red is showing up with a bit of Pepto-pinkish overtones on my $100 LCD. :shades:
  • passmepassme Member Posts: 3
It appears that the UK version also gets beam wiper blades as well as RDS in the navi! Is this a cost issue? :confuse:
  • farout2farout2 Member Posts: 4
Since I wanted a black on black, xls 4wd, s&s, luxury, but NO nav, they had to get one that was being loaded on the ship. None in the U.S. with that combo. Can't wait. By the way, anyone been able to get a hold of the Ralliart parts that they have in Japan? Most of those parts were on the SEMA 2006 Evolander. Sweet!
  • rcpaxrcpax Member Posts: 580
None that I know of. In fact I think MMNA should start an online store here in the US for Ralliart parts. Ralliart USA had a brief appearance, and now it seems all but disappeared.
  • farout2farout2 Member Posts: 4
If the Outlander is selling like it seems to be, you'd think Mitsu would be all over selling aftermarket parts like the other companies. Maybe an email campaign could get em to bring the Asian parts here! Look what Ford is doing with the Mustang (which is what I actually wanted, but just wasn't practical). If any of you get a chance, check out the EVOLANDER from the 2006 SEMA show. In black, that ride would kick serious asphalt!

The ES fit my needs best and I'll be posting pics soon. I like to "tweek" my ride so I wanted one at a price that would allow me to do so. I just had some 18" American Racing "Casino" wheels installed yesterday. Will take pics after work and post this weekend.
  • bearishly4ubearishly4u Member Posts: 38
Tinted windows and new 18" Chrome rims later...btw, it sits a bit lower in the rear because it's still holding the factory 16" wheels and tires. Fog lights are probably next. Just don't like the looks of those unused "spaces"

    Looks good without the rails.
  • mrmister2000mrmister2000 Member Posts: 86
    Looks good without the rails.

Yes, it certainly does! I've always thought that the rails looked cheap and ugly.

Loving those rims! Chrome is ALWAYS a good thing! Very nice!
  • gene_vgene_v Member Posts: 235
I took my wife to the Auto Show in St. louis last month. She had several comments about the Outlander. 1)Do we have to have those rails? 2)The sun shields are too small. 3) I don't like leather seats.
When I explained that to get the power seat we had to get the S & S to get the luxury package at an additional $3180, she said forget it. She loved the storage areas.Waiting to see the Desert Sand in daylight as the color looks like cream on the mitsubishicars site.
  • bearishly4ubearishly4u Member Posts: 38
The rails were a take it or leave it for me until I bought without and now I like it better without them. Also, on the rims, I was not thinking chrome but they talked me into it when they showed them to me on the Outlander.
  • growwisegrowwise Member Posts: 296
Nice pics... I dont get the explanation for why the rear is low.. If the rims are 18 on both front and rear, then whats the problem?

Is continental standard in states? I saw LS models in canada having geolander shoes.
  • bearishly4ubearishly4u Member Posts: 38
The 16" wheels and tires are IN the back. I haven't found a place to store them yet. I'm not sure about Continental though.
  • growwisegrowwise Member Posts: 296
Ok.. so you bought brand new alloy wheels with different diameters? 18 for the front and 16 at the back? That sounds like a waste of money. What will you do with 16" custom alloys in the back then?
  • bearishly4ubearishly4u Member Posts: 38
I'll try to be as clear as I can...

The factory 16" tires and wheels that came on the vehicle are PHYSICALLY LOCATED IN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE...meaning if I opened the lift gate you would see them in there. It is the weight of 4 16" wheels with tires that is causing the rear to sit a bit lower. I have not mixed 16 and 18" wheels ON the vehicle.

Replacing 16" tires and wheels with 18" tires and wheels could be considered a waste of money...it could also be considered an upgrade just like paying extra for leather seats, etc.

I hope this clears things up...if not, just pretend it did!
