  • Hi! I've acquired a 1994 z-28 convertible. The car has 49,000 original miles but every time I make a turn the rear axle makes this horrendous noise. Now the engine is making a weird noise, almost like the sound of the catalytic converter's heat shield. the car has never been in the snow and is stored all winters so what could this be? please help?

Hi, I have a '93 Camaro and am having window troubles with it. The motors seem o.k. but the windows only go part way down and stop or they go clear down and can't get them to go back up. Is it the switch or could it be the track?
  • ouch... at first i was looking at getting a 2000 camaro with a 5.7L v8 and a 6 speed manual for 9 grand, but due to the problems you guys are discussing, and to the bad reviews given by british car review show, TOP GEAR on the Corvette C6 (camaros have similar or same engines and trannys as Corvette) with the sloppy, non-gripping rear leaf springs and clumsy shifting 6 speed manual with flimsy body panels that don't stand up in a crash and will cost greatly to fix, i think I'll stick with a 20 year old BMW in excellent condition. I've never seen such a fast conversion in myself to go from wanting imports, to "oh, I'll give a domestic a try since I have an okay domestic," then back to "what?!? oh my god, thank god I didn't buy a domestic yet!!"

Hello I have a 1993 Camaro and my windows started doing the same thing, the windows will go up and down part of the time and then they act like they run out of energy and have to get recharged then in a minute or two they will work for a couple of seconds then they stop again and they work like this all the time. The passenger side does not work at all only the driver side. I bought new door window switches and had them installed but that was not the problem for the windows still work or dont work whenever they want. I did read somewere that the problem is in the motor it is drawing too much ampage and and shuts its self off. I need a new one to correct the problem, and I have not purchased one as of yet. Please let me know what you find out about the problem.

    Thanks Barbara

one wire should be the exciter wire and one for the gauge. but if you don't have 12 volt direct to large red wire you won't get any charge. this is a interally regulated alt. i am guessing. have you checked all grounds and made sure you don't have a fuse or fuseable link somewhere.

I have a 97 camaro with the headlights that come on automatically when it gets dark. The low beams do not come on, but the high beams will. I have tried replacing the low beam bulbs, but that doesn' t work. I have also tried to turn on the headlights manually with the switch on the dash and that doesn't work either.
Is there a fuse or relay just for the low beams? How can I tell if it is the headlight switch or the multi-function switch on the column that has the turn signals, wipers, and cruise control?

there is typically three wires on the back of the headlight bulb. 1 wire for high and 1 wire for low and 1 common. but it sounds like the high low swicth to me. does the car have daytime running lights?

is it the same transmission or a differnt model? make sure that the reverse lights are working as they are usually in the same circuit.

No it had the stock 305 and auto trans what ever that was. now it has a 700 to 700r4 I had built buy phx transmission. and yes my reverse lights work.

I also have a 97 camaro with the same problem. The low beams do not work at all. I looked for a fuse but there isn't one in the engine compartment or the dash fuse boxes. I called the local Chevrolet dealer and they don't seem to know either. If you find out let me know. John

head lamps may not have a fuse per say it may be a fusable link. but a simple voltage presents test will tell you if you have a high low switch problem

hi i have a '99 camaro and whenever im driving down the road my radio and power windows will suddenly turn off. sometimes it will come on within a few minutes, other times it wont come back for days. if i run over speed bumps or large pot holes and it shakes the car it does the same thing. also, my heater quit working so i replaced the radiator and it still isnt working so great. any suggestions?
  • miltonhmiltonh Posts: 4
as far as your heater goes, is there a wet spot in the carpet on the passenger side front floor board (were you put your feet) ? if so you need a heater core and if not does your blower work or maybe you have a faulty heater valve. my advise is if you've never replaced a heater core seek help it will save a lot of frustration. as too your radio and power windows you have a bad connection some where ,start at the switch and work your way back. my 91's switches are in the center concle between the seats and after some time a litle dirt and grease will find there way into the switches followed buy a splash of dr. pepper and drops of hot sauce, and run a current threw it any things possible.

My remote key entry no longer works. It is not the battery in the remote key.
    Other electrical items works OK.
Is there a fuse for this or where is the remote receiver?
  • sounds like previous owner change rear end fluid but did not add friction modifier for the posi. what your feeling is the clutches slipping to equal out wheel speed. drain & fill the fluid and add a bottle of friction modifier equa-torque is one brand
