2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart

Can someone give me some clarification on the release of the new 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart. Some say it'll debut in May or March, or at the Detroit Auto Show in 2009; some say Tokyo and others even said later on in Frankfurt so as a prospective buyer i'm currently baffled.

There have been about 3 or 4 sightings of test mules via images and video and all give conflicting reports on when the car will actually be released.

What is practically confirmed is that the car will be AWD and gain a turbo producing around 220-250bhp. I assume it'll be priced around23-25k to compete with the Subaru WRX.

The following links all give different indications:

Plus, I just read this article which states that the JDM Market Lancer (Galant Fortis) already gets a trim level with AWD! That is so unfair! They should have made that an option available on the base Lancer to begin with!

  • Yeah, the JDM does get everything first, but usually that carries over to us or is orderable to replace out within 6 months.

Anywho, The Evo X is planned to be unveiled and fully speced at the Tokyo Motor Show next month. Mitsubishi Japan has announced that they plan to give more info about a possible Lancer Ralliart and its specs at that time. If not, it will be held until next year.

  • I know these are technically old pics, but since no one posted them up I thought i'd do it. The bottom pics are in all likeliness what the new Ralliart will look like.

To be honest I kind of prefer it if they gave it the same treatment as the JDM Lancer aka Galant Fortis. That car even gets AWD for the GTS model!

  • Now that I relook at those pics, they almost are the pre-Evo X GSR look.

  • I'm excited to see and get the new ralliart. but i heard that its only going to come in the
twin clutch system. which is a real turn off for me. id rather stick with a 5 speed manual, and the cheaper cost.
    ·
  • Wait a year and it will probably become an option

  • WAIT! so its for sure that the new ralliart isnt going to come in a 5 speed manual?!!! no!!!!!!!!
    ·
  • Yes. Mitsu formally announcing in a press release that, at least for the 2009 model year, the Ralliart will only come with the SST trans. They hinted that a stick was coming, but said it would be included in a latter year as a way to refresh the model or add to it to help drive sales further down the road. I personally think that was a stupid idea and that they should have given an option, but there isn't much we can do about it now. As for the SST, I wouldn't knock it until you try it. It may actually be pretty cool if what everyone who is testing the Evo has said is true. I just know that there are some die hard manual trans lovers out there who will be disappointed. I personally want my next car to have a stick because I want to learn and experience it while I am young and have the ability to enjoy driving something smaller, sexier, and faster. Arguably for most, age generally brings families who require a sedan or suv/crossover.

  • Wild Bill. Have any idea of when Mitsu is gonna update their website to include the Lancer Ralliart? Also, looks like it will lack the option of a moonroof. I don't get it. I understand not making it available on the EVO models, due to weight, but this 40 year old mandates a moonroof on his cars. Hmm. Maybe I'm not the in their target group for this car.
Also, looks like we will not get the Sportback Ralliart. Now, if Mitsu would offer the Sportack Ralliart with (AWD of course) the SST, leather and the moonroof in the US, then I'd be trading in my old Outlander.

  • i drove the RA and MS3.
the RA was very weak from a standstill. the MS3 was much quicker and responsive even though mazda reduces the torque of the engine in gears 1 and 2 to reduce torque steer.

i think the RA is great except for this potentially dangerous problem...trying to quickly cross an intersection could be a big problem.

    why is this the case?
    can anything be done?

I am looking for an Owners Manual for a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart 4dr Wagon. I've tried the Mitsubishi Site to no avail. I'll settle for a site or a .pdf version.
    Any help will do.

I posted my last on Oct 16th, I'm 17 out of 17. I am still looking a any type version of an owners manual for a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportsback Ralliart Wagon.

I have another request, I am in need of the rear windshield wiper for the same vehicle. I have tried the dealership but they are asking and exorbitant amount and don't even have it in stock.

Does anyone have a part number for an after market wiper? I am looking for an exact fit model.

  • Try ebay for the owner's manual. Give this website a try for the wiper www.ricartparts.com
    ·
  • The Lancer Ralliart is already for sale.
