Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra Surge/hesitation

edited March 2014 in Chevrolet
I have an 03 Silverado 2500hd crewcab long box 4x4 with a 6.0L and aut trans
When the vehicle is loaded with the camper 2200lbs it has a buck/surge/hesitation between 2100-3000 rpm when the torque converter is locked.
The torque converter has just been replaced by the dealer...it has new plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, the trans was serviced.
The dealer now says its a normal caracteristic of the truck when the torque converter is locked...
I dont believe it....
I've owned other vehicles and hauled stuff..this is one uncomfortable ride when hauling
Any opinions or ideas...
Please and thank you

Have you tried driving it in tow/haul mode?

You could also try driving it around in "3" rather than "D" until speed rpm dictates an upshift while in the 3500+ rpm range. I'm assuming you have the 4L80E trans.

I've tried both tow haul and without towhaul

It does it both in 3 and D when in between 2100-3000rpm

I'd guess it's the torque convertor.
Put the camper on and drive to the dealer and have them drive it so they can experience it themselves.
    Good Luck

It has a new torque converter...didn't change anything...I took it in with the camper for them to diagnose
