I've towed reasonably heavy stuff with my Ram twice.. 2012 2500 4x4 with Cummins and manual transmission. First was towing my brothers 97 F250 Crew Cab 4x4 with 7.3 Powerstroke about 50 miles on a trailer (his transmission was out). Total weight behind me was about 10,000 lbs and I could barely tell it was there, in both power and using my brakes (the exhaust brake works damn good on these pickups) the 2nd was flat towing a 92 F150 4x4 short bed from Sacrameto to Albany Oregon. Again, I could barely tell it was there, except on sharp corners when the F150 would try to push the [non-permissible content removed] end of the 2500 around and the electronic trailer sway would kick in a bit. Power wise, going up the Siskiyou mountains, I was able to accelerate in 6th gear from 65 to 70 without a problem (did it to see how much acceleration I had)..

We have a 2013 ram 1500 Crew Cab with the 8 speed auto. 5.7 Ram says 6,650 lbs is it. Thats fine because IF we get a travel trailer it will be less than 5,000 lbs.

I have a '14 Ram 1500 Crew Cab Laramie with 3.21 gears. Specs say 6,500lbs towing but Ram/Chrysler told, that's based off the old 6 speed ratings and they are in the process of recertifying the 8 speed (back when I bought it). The ram trucks online towing guide now rates a '14 1500 Laramie 4x4 Crew Cab 6'4" box with 3.21 gears at up to 7,750lbs towing.

I've towed my 7k lb boat several times and it pulls just fine. No issues at all.
