2002 Subaru Outback $4150

Considering a 2002 Subaru Outback, 180k, offered $4150, not sure if it's fair price. Engine oil leaking, sometimes dropping to the ground, don't know if it's serious problem. I'm an Iowan in Iowa city.

Not if you don't know where the leak is coming from. Probably head gasket, and that's not a cheap fix. With 180k miles, I'd find something else.

I'd guess the oil would be coming from the cam shaft area (near timing belt). Mine is starting to do that the past few weeks. Quoted just under $700 for the fix, including new timing belt, and water pump. FYI I have a 2001 with 195K on it.
$4150 does seem a bit high however.
