I feel like i've read everything but still don't get it. I'm considering the Mazda 5 (not sure which trim yet, but likely the automatic base model).

I want to be able to walk into the dealership knowing the lowest lease that is possible to get so i can not budge until i get it. The problem is no matter how much i've read i still can't figure out what that is.

Can someone kindly help me by providing the exact calculation (feel free to use an example) i should be using to determine lease rate on a 36 mo, 10,000/yr, all in (including taxes), no money down Mazda 5. (I want to be able to use this calculation to compare other cars - though i know they'll have different residuals and money factors)

Also, i know i'm supposed to find the residual and money factor from the finance dept of the dealership but is this constant? Will it be the same no matter where i ask? I'm in New York City (in case that matters).

Lastly, how do i determine what might be the rock bottom cost for the car - to include in the calculation? When i see average price ranges listed for the car on Edmunds, should i just take the lowest average or is that still high? Thanks so much for your help. I want to do all my research before walking into the dealership. Thanks!

Also.....I don't have much history on these things. Do lease deals for November to December 1 usually differ in any significant way from lease deals for the Xmas/New Years period of Dec 1 to Dec 31?

Whats the cheapest monthly lease I could expect to get on the 2014 Mazda cx5 touring model with moon roof Bose add on and tow package, no leather seats or navigation. Leasing 36 or 48 months with 1200 miles per month? Can this be done at $230 per month no money down in NC?

I don't think be able to get $230 on the touring with those terms. If you use the lease calculator on Edmunds and put in the MSRP of the car with the rates from this thread and your terms will give you a rough starting point ($300+). My initial quote from dealers in NY was around $320/$330 p/month but that's before negotiating and finding out the rates and doing my own calcs. There are a couple of tools out there which will approximate what the dealer pays for the car.
In most cases the dealer will not go below this price as they wont make any money. You want to get them as close to this price as possible to get a good deal. Good luck!

I used the Bankrate lease calculator to work out the numbers on a CX-5 Touring FWD no packages, 36 months but with white paint and parking sensors which are both extras. I used Blue Book for a fair offer price of $24,762 and dcfak's MF and Residuals and the best I could come up with is $309/month with $1250 down for the state of Florida which has a 7.19% sales tax.

If you can figure how to get a Touring model for $230/month I'd sure like to know about it.

.00031 MF and 53% residual. FWD residual is 52%

Those are national numbers. Last month, about a dozen states (including PA) had better money factors, but I don't have that information yet, for this month.

I don't have any information on 2013 model leases for the CX-5.

While I am a big stick-shift fan, you are really paying for it on this lease. The automatic residual is 3% higher.
