2011 Legacy Coolant Change

The owners manual in my 2011 Legacy says the coolant can last to 100,000 miles. I am skeptical of cooant lasting over 2 years or 24,000 miles. Comments?

Two years? That sounds practically new to me. I tend to run 50-60K on my coolant in my daily drivers, which is about four years, and I've never had a problem. The manual in my '10 Forester says 36K, but I know they're paranoid because they know its gaskets are bound to fail and they want to stretch it past the warranty period.

I can't remember if the legacy went to the FB engine in 11 or 12, but I think it was 12, which would mean they probably want you to change it sooner than 100K.

It certainly won't hurt anything to change it at 24,000 miles, but you're not necessarily gaining anything either except the peace of mind.

    2011 Forester = FB25
    2012 Impreza = FB20
    2013 Legacy/Outback = FB25
