    I have disconnected the the battery to charge it or work on electrical problems in my 2002 3.2 TL. After reconnnecting, I enter the anti theft code number for the Nav System and it came back to life. However the code number I enter gets rejected by the radio. I have to re-enter the code 40 to 50 times before the radio accepted the code. This time, I have tried over 70 tmes with no luck. The dealer confirms the code number is correct. Is there a trick to get the radio to accept the code? Has anyone seen and solved this problem?

    i have a brand new 2007 tl and i tried using a HP dvd-r mp3 cd and it wouldnt work. can anyone recommend a brand that has worked for them? thank you for your help.

    I used memorex and other brands in my former 05' TL and it worked fine. I don't recall ever using Hewlett Packard though. That's weird........ :confuse:

    I just got an 07 TL with NAV this weekend. I was wondering if anyone knows a way to change the items that are displayed on the main lcd screen, when listening to MP3 cds.

    Currently it just shows the file name, and I would like it to display the Artist and Song Title. If I hit the display button, I am able to see the Artist info in the top screen on the dashboard, but I would like to change it on the main lcd also.

    I have 06 TL without Nav. Is there function for Disc repeat and track repeat. I think i only saw track repeat. Any suggestions

    While I love my new TL, I am suprized to experience poor FM reception. This radio is not as stong as the one I had in my Prelude. Very strange. :surprise:

    Hi,

    I used "Toast" on Mac to burn a CD of MP3 files. 5 albums altogether. Each album in its own folder. When I do "Track List", I am able to change folders and pick songs. For each song, track title appears. Folder name is the name of the album. As long as MP3 file itself has this info, it will appear on LCD display. You can also change song titles in Toast.

    Amazingly TL's FM reception really sucks. (07 TL - Type S). It is as if it needs an antenna. XM, CD player, AUX input are all nice, but I like to listen to local radio.

    Hi all. I have a 2006 TL and I am very disappointed in the audio quality. I recently drove an 07 and noticed an incredible difference in audio performance (it provided the bass I need without distorting mids and highs). When I spoke with the dealer, was told that the 07 had more features providing better sound.

    Does anyone have suggestions on speakers/amps that will help improve the audio quality? Also looking to see if anyone has outfitted the rear deck with a sub replacement.

    Has anyone had the following problem? After battery was reconnected, radio code inserted, with radio and regular music CDs playing fine. None of my DVD Audio CDs will play. Radio displays on screen, "DVD-A", but no sound for each song/track. Anyone has any suggestions before I take to dealer? First time for this one. Thank you in advance.

    I have seen little on this board talking about DVD audio which the 2007 TL Supports. Did you listen to your demo disk? The sound is unbelieveable. Unfortuantely the supply of DVD-Audio is pretty limited. At Best Buy today I could only find about 20 to choose from. However I purchased the Beatles Love which came with two disk; CD and DVD-Audio. If you like the Beatles be sure to pick one up. The sound is incredible!! I really hope the DVD audio catches on; although I see it is now competing with SACD technology. Both have very little selection.

    Do yourself a favor and listen to the DEMO DVD that comes with your TL. They go out and buy one.

    Whatever may have been wrong with the audio system in earlier models has been fixed in the 2008. I have never heard sound this good in a car, and I agree, we need to find some good DVD audio disks to play. Even my MP3 CDs sound fantastic with prologic II encoding to utilize the 5 speakers.

    Rich, you only have 5 speakers while we have 8 ... you have been short changed :P Prologic II cannot be compared with DTS or DVD-A, which produces discrete channel sounds rather than computer generated surround sound. :D

    Greetings.

    I have an '06 TL Type-S so not sure if it matters. I have two rattles that just started after 11,000 miles. The first one sounds like what most people are experiencing with it sounding like it's the speaker but it only happens when it's cold out. I shut the radio off and I can still hear it until the interior warms up. What seatbelt mechanisms should I tell the dealer it is?

    The second rattle comes from the front; sounds like it's coming from the dashboard. Anyone else having this issue?

    As far as I know, Acura DIDN'T make a 2006 TL Type S. 2007 was the first year in this body style. Previous TL type S was 2003.
    Did you mean a 2007?

    Interested in hearing about the stereo/Ipod interface on the '08 TL. Pros & Cons.
    Also, is there an aftermarket interface that lets you access the player through the stereo controls :confuse:

    I have an 07 (can't imagine much changed) and use the iPod jack daily. All you need is a connector from the input jack to your iPod. You can get one a Best Buy for $4.99, no need to waste money on marketing for the more expensive ones. I bought one for $15 when I first got the TL, then just out of curiousity bought another the cheaper one to compare...no difference except price.

    Acura has something that fits in the glove box, that allows you to use stereo controls. I think it's called Acuralink, but from what I was told from the dealership it doesn't work well. I was going to buy it but they said it caused a ton of problems. A friend of mine has the Harman Kardon set up in his BMW and loves it. Don't know how it works in the TL though. Most folks I know just use the input jack.

    just leasesd the new 08 tl with navi..i am a sirius sudscriber..until they merge if they ever do...anyone know if the xm satellite can be changed over to sirius that would integrated to the exsiting xm set up..if not i have to add the sirius head and new antenna..thanks

    I've read about this predicament here before. To my knowledge there is no "conversion kit". I have XM and Sirius in two different cars, personally I like XM better.

    I just bought the 2008 TL-S, and I've been looking into ipod connectivity. If I can get complete connectivity through the existing head unit/nav screen, I would pay the money. But if it has to be some sort of hybrid solution, where I use the ipod to control it, the cost isn't worth it.

    By the way, there are two concerns here: integration and sound quality. (Actually, three concerns if you include recharging the ipod, but I don't care about that.) If integration isn't all that important to you, you can get equal sound quality by buying this cable here: dock connector cable. It absolutely makes a difference in sound quality. Of course the aux jack is pretty good, much better than fm transmitters or cassette adaptors, but with a dock connector cable you are getting much better signal to noise ratio, and you control the volume completely through the radio (rather than the annoying adjustment of having to turn the volume all the way up on the ipod).

    If you aren't as familiar with this, and you are looking for a less expensive way to get great sound, look into these cables. For $15, you get identical sound quality, and just have to charge and control the ipod from the ipod.

    After doing more research, it looks like there isn't a perfect integration solution out there for us.

    I think I'll just stick with my dock connector out to the aux port. Great sound, and controlling everything from the ipod itself is about as good, if not better, than trying to control it through the head unit.

    I am having problems with the CD player getting CD's stuck in the player,
    Is there any way to get them out without removing the entire radio system?

    Try disconnecting one of the battery terminals for several minutes. That might reset the radio. However you will need your radio code card. Might have to go to the dealer to get it. If it doesn't work then it needs to be repaired.

    Hey guys. has anyone else noticed this... when I drive highway speeds with my back windows open, the sound becomes VERY distorted. I would think such a obvious wind issue would be better documented on these forums, so maybe its just my car (08' tl). Any ideas?? Thanks!

    Recently purchased an '08 TLS and have been wading thru the audio options. Book says that the Dolby Prologic feature works with XM radio and that all you need to do is tap the on icon to activate it. Doing that yields nothing...in fact the entire "sound" page closes after only a few seconds if I am not actively changing the settings. Does anyone have any thoughts?

    I have a 07 with the same problem when I ONLY have the back windows opened, there's a loud rumbling noise. I don't think it's an audio problem, it's more likely an arodynamic issue with newer cars. Because the noise is heard whether the stereo is on or not. In additon, I drove a rented 08 Volvo S40 a few weeks ago while out of town for a week. When I opened ONLY the back windows, I got the same loud rumblin sound that I get in my TL with only the back windows opened.

    I LUV my 07 TL with navi, but I HATE the audio quality. I'm not convinced that it's a speaker/amp problem. The reason being is when setting my tone controls (Bass, Treble) a small eq graph appears on the screen, basically the eq graph is shaped like a "V". There's no way to adust the mid frequencies, therefore when adjusting the bass & treble, you're only adjusting the outer frequencies of the spectrum. With a 5.1 system the middle frequencey (voice) is just as important, if not more, as the bass & treble. I'm leaning more toward a digital audio car processor... Then if the sound doesn't improve, I'll start adding amps/speakers...

    Yes, that is so annoying when you cannot adjust the mid range, I now have a car than I can adjust the mid range, and it simply makes all the difference, when I can bump the mid range up a bit. Why would they not put a mid range option for the equalizer? That is crazy. I have mine turned up a bit, and it makes a world of difference, you don't have to turn it up as loud, as the mid range is more clearer. This is something the Honda has always been doing, but if the actually offered the 5.1 system with no mid range, that is crazy. Without the mid range its like suffocating the system to be what it is supposed to be.

    I am not sure where you can start, just keep your treble and bass levels down so it doesn't make as much of a V line. My 06 Accord, I actually installed Memphis Audio Speakers, and these speakers have an amazing mid range, very warm. I am very impressed with these speakers, and are very efficient, they don't need much power to work great. I think it would be worth getting these speakers and get a decent powered amp and you would have yourself an awesome, clean system, and get the nice mid range you want. Sometimes, its the speakers themselves that don't offer any real mid range, by changing them, you'll see a difference. Just like an amplifier, some offer really warm mid range, like my Denon home receiver, has no mid range option, but offers great mid range, without even having an equalizer.
    That is what a true system will do, it will give you all ranges, and you shouldn't have to adjust them.

    So good luck, adjust the settings more, I know it took me time to figure out the best arrrangement. Then perhaps try installing the speakers. Memphis Audio have a great line of speakers, and I think you will find yourself saying, Wow, this is what I have been missing! I love having music in the car, so a good system is crucial for me as well. A good factory stereo is hard to come by these days.

    I have a 2005 TL, manual transmission with navigation. I was driving with my navigation system a few weeks ago and noticed that when the navigation was giving the voice command back that the sound was fuzzy. I could understand the command, but it almost sounds like the speaker is blown. A few days later the navigation was back to normal and perfectly fine. Then 2 weeks ago the problem started again. I initially thought it was a wiring problem and not a speaker problem. I took the car to Acura and they said it was a bad center speaker and also I needed to change my handsfree switch. That was a first because I have always used the handsfree switch and still continue to use it and the car responds fine. Acura charged me $60 for the diagnostic test and then said it would cost $875 to change the center speaker and handsfree switch. I thought this was outrageous. My navigation system continues to give back fuzzy commands ever since I took it into Acura.

    A couple of days ago I took my TL to an audio specialist who installs systems. When I told him my issue, he was puzzled because he said rarely does the speaker blow in the TL. He popped the center speaker out and tested it in his shop and said the speaker was perfect and nothing was wrong with it. He does not believe it is a wiring problem either. He thinks that it could be the navigation output jack on the amp in the passenger side front kick panel. He said if that wasn't the issue then I would need to change individual parts one by one until I found the problem. He said if I could find a used amp from a junk yard, he could install it to see if that was the issue. I also asked the audio specialist if the hot temperatures we have been experiencing could be the problem. He said it could very well be, but he would not be 100% sure if that was the issue. He said the only other way to know for sure would be to take it back to Acura and let them fix the issue as he wouldn't be able to know 100% for sure what the issue was. I was also wondering if it was my phone's bluetooth interfering with the navigation. I am reluctant to take it back to Acura because of the price of the fix and the fact that they wrongly diagnosed my issue. I feel I would be taken for a ride.

    So my question is if anyone has had this problem with their TL navigation system or if anyone knows what the issue is?

    If you haven't already figured this out xm can be changed to sirius for both acura and honda, just google the phrase acura 08 xm to sirius

    My 08 TL came with a DVD audio demo disk. Sounds great. I can't find DVD's that are compatible however. I tried a music DVD video of a Pearl Jam concert but it was incompatible. Any suggestions for what format will work?

    The only format that will work is a DVD AUDIO disc.It will have a little insignia saying such that looks just like the DVD Video insignia. I think 5.1 DTS works also but not as good. You're right the sound is amazing. Because all the box stores and the sheep following/downloading public have help put the other small and even chain stores out of business, you're limited to on-line purchases now. I've had DVD Audio since my first 04TL. I even have a dvd player in the house that plays DVD audio discs. It's never going to be that popular for mass consumers but if you like super audio, it nice to have a collection of music that you can enjoy for its high quality. The Beatles "Love" Cd that came out last year is sold in a special deluxe edtion that has a DVD Audio disc. Unbelievable. If they ever release their catalog on DVD Audio, it would spark an interest and who knows, it might convince more artists to do the same. Steely Dan is another one to pick up.

    My 06 (new to me) has original stereo/speakers etc. and every day I get a buzzing or popping sound from the drivers side dash board speaker. It lasts only about 10 seconds and is intermitent. I can only hear it when the volume is below 3. I have no clue if it's a speaker or amplifier. Of course it never happens when it's at the dealership. Anyone else out there having a similar issue? Any suggestions? Thanks.

    They used to have a small section for DVD audio, DTS and various other 5.1 formats, but no more. Tower records had the best selection. Don't be afraid to try some music that you normally might not listen to. The 5.1 sound is so enjoyable, you're just gonna want more. the stuff by Steely Dan might be the best out there. They recorded/wrote most of the songs with 5.1 in mind and it sounds like it.

    I purchased a 2005 TL in Nov 04, the dvd audio demo disc was amazing, unfortunately I had to sell it and gave the disc with it. I just purchased another 05 TL, However, the Demo disc is different than the one I had before. Do you know how I could get the other demo dvd audio disc ?

    I have an '05 TL and the NAV failed. Sent it out for repair and it is not serviceable, they state H2O damage which most likely from condensation since it is in the trunk. The issue is that since the NAV doesn't work it takes out all dash systems. DVD/CD does not work. Radio works but no station is listed and there is no clock function. The only solution from Acura is to buy a new $3K NAV system.

    Are there any after market solutions? Is it possible to run the DVD/CD without the NAV? This seems like a major design flaw......

    Hey I have the same issue with my '08 Acura Type S. I was about to start analysis on the wiring going to the factory amp but I wanted insurance of the exact source of the signal which changes depending on enginge RPM. And yes it only occurs when the doors are closed. So, I thought that perhaps this noise reduction circuitry was rooted through one of the internal microphones located above the center console next to the moon roof. covering these microphones did nothing. So while at th local Vandergriff dealer in Arlington I inquired of this issue to a service tech who claims to have installed aftermaret amplifiers into cars for a living and he says that these vehicles are not equiped with a noise cancellation system that could induce such a signal. I'm back to square one. I require the interception of this signal to obtain good cabin sound and amplified audio
