Hi All! So I am looking to lease a 2014 Lexus IS 250AWD with the luxury and navigation package. I am a little lost on the leasing side of things so if you could please advise if you think this deal is good as there are not many lexus dealers near me to shop around.

    MSRP:$45,858
    Selling Price: $43,525
    RV:73%
MF: .0009 which is about the norm of .00110 ( I think I got this correct, but looking at everyone else's I may have incorrectly noted this)
    Term: 27 months
    Mileage: 12k/year
    Monthly Payment:$432
Total out of pocket: $1,900 which is basically taxes, fees, dealer fees, etc.

I am due to sign at the end of the week just trying to get a feel if this is a good deal. Thanks in advance for any advice! :)

That seems like a decent deal. How much do you think a 12k/year, no college grad program and I don't want to do a MSD with 0 money down should cost monthly? Just an approximation please.

I got the IS250 Fsport for 380 a mo with tax/tag included and 1066 due at signing. What do you guys think? Does anyone know how to find out what kind of insurance I have to get. I feel like 100k/300k is way too much.

  • pointjgpointjg Member Posts: 4

    Hi guys,

I noticed a newsletter from JM Lexus down here in South Florida advertising:

2014 IS 250 MSRP $37,188 lease for $187 per month for 24 months plus $2,990 down payment, tax, tag, title with 10,000 annual miles ** One payment lease same term $5,995 plus tax, tag, with 10,000 annual miles.

I spoke to them about upgrading to an F-Sport w/ Nav, and they stated it would be about $80 more per month, bringing the one payment lease to $8,000.

I've never leased a vehicle before... realistically what type of payment are others seeing with 10,000 annual miles for 24 months?

    Thanks

  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 235,188

Something seems way off.... in the first example, total payments of $7478, while the One-Pay lease is $5995?

$311/mo. vs. $250/mo? Prepaying 24 months shouldn't save you that much... but, of course, if it does, the $5995 is a steal, and it should already be sitting in your driveway.

Just be careful about how much the tags, title and etc. come up to.. it's the etc. that really gets you... Especially in South Florida... You might end up with a $700 acquisition fee, an $800 dealer document fee, etc, etc, etc... Start adding $1500-$2000 in charges on a 24-month lease, and the next thing you know, your effective monthly payment is way north of $400/mo.

Have them run the entire calculation, then add up everything (payments and all money due at signing), then divide by 24. If that number is less than 1% of MSRP ($400 on a $40K MSRP), then that's a pretty good deal on a 24 month lease.

    Thanks kyfdx!

I honestly can't figure out how the one-pay lease is $5,995 either... The dealer is about 40 minutes away from me and I'm trying to get some accurate numbers before driving down there, but the salesperson I'm working with is being a little difficult. If she'd work with me to give me an exact calculation/breakdown like my BMW dealership has on a 328i (and as long as it was favorable) then I'd drive down tomorrow and make the deal happen.

Hi all- I'm new to this forum but we are looking at leasing a 2014 IS250. I am in Texas. See below terms from the dealer.. I have tier 1 plus credit. What do you think? We aren't sure if we should put money towards a down payment, MSD's, etc? We are wanting a payment b/w $400-450. Any advice is much appreciated.

The Money Factor for both 27 and 36 months will be .00080

The residuals are 72% of msrp for 27 and 64% of msrp for 36 months

    Is250 MSRP $38,623 price $34,300

    Is250 fsport msrp $41,403 price $36,800

  • baylornationbaylornation Member Posts: 2

    12000 miles/yr

  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 235,188

Well.. my Lexus information is a little spotty, this month. The .00080 must be a regional thing, as the national money factor for that model is .00100. I don't have the 36 month residuals, but the 27 month number is correct, so I'd assume the 36 month number is, as well.

You shouldn't have any trouble hitting your number. Even if I add in $1000 for acquisition fee, registration/title/doc fee on the 27 month program, that comes out to $328/mo, plus tax on the cheaper unit. $342/mo for 36 months.

$350/mo. for 27, and $365/mo. for 36 on the more expensive model.

Those numbers would be with only the first payment upfront, as the $1000 should cover the rest of it (maybe a couple hundred more upfront).

Now, don't be surprised if the payments turn out to be a lot higher, once they do the calculations... If you know what I mean..

Also.. I'm not real familiar with Lexus MSD plan. But, I would certainly take advantage of that, before making a downpayment.... All of the numbers above are pre-tax.. Tax is on the full price in Texas, unless the manufacturer has tax credits available.. So, that could be substantial ($65-$95 per month).

Hey, I'll jump in and help, this forum has been awesome (thank you again Kyfdx and carman). I was just at the dealer, and baring them giving me misleading info. 36 (10k) was 65% for is250. 24 month was 75% (10k) for is250. Subtract 1% for 12k and 3% for 15k I think.

I do have two more questions though, sorry:

    1. Kyfdx, is the Money factor tied to credit?

    2. Is anyone knowledgable here as to how much MSDs reduce the Money Factor. How much does each MSD reduce the Money Factor. You can do 9 but, what is the total amount I can get off the Money Factor.

    Thank you guys!

Thanks for the residuals. Dealers have no authorization from the bank to adjust those residuals, so unless the make a mistake, their info is accurate.

    1) Yes, money factor is tied to credit. That said, you usually have to drop below 675 FICO to drop down to a lower tier, with a lease.

    2) Sorry, but I'm not familiar with Lexus MSD program.

Everything looks solid on the selling price, residual, and money factor side. By the way how did you get a .00085 money factor, was this offered or did you use Money Security Deposits to lower the rate? As for fees, the acquisition fee is 700, did you also pay any dealer/doc fees?

I don't know without exact numbers, but it just sounds high. For a 38.5k MSRP you want the selling price to be around 34.5k. You need to ask them what money factor they are using (there are options to lower it too with one-pay or MSDs). You also need to find out what other fees they tagged on there: dealer fees, doc fees, etc. The acquisition fee is 700.

I leased yesterday on this negotiated price. The .00085 money factor was actually offered without any MSD. I negotiated everything. ALL fees were included in the $2,000 down as well as the first months payment. I double checked to see if they moved any fees into the price of the car and they didn't

    Hi All,

Received the following offer and was wondering what you guys think. This would be my first Lexus lease.

    Lexus IS 250 AWD F Sport package. MSRP:45,082, Residual: 73pct, Moneyfactor: .00085

    0 down, 487 a month including taxes 10k/27months.

Using the lease calculator and based on the numbers provided, it seems selling price is $39,300

Would you say this is a good deal?

    Thanks all,

    Hi All,
I received the following offer on an IS250 RWD with Nav Package, Luxury and a few more extras.
    Retail Price $43,300.00
    9 MSD of $400.00 = $3,600.00
Payment per month: $395.00 With Taxes included in Florida.
$1,800.00 in fees.... Not very clear what all those fees are yet.
    This is for 12K/27 months.
    Please need your feedback.

    Thank you all. Miguel

  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 235,188

Looks pretty good.. your fees are going to be an acquisition fee of about $700 and a big fat dealer document fee.... Since it's Florida, I'll guess it's $600-$800... Which is ridiculous, but typical for Florida high-line dealers.

I'm pretty sure the sweet spot for payment is 27 months. If another term is going to be better, it will be 36 months.

    What's the msrp?
    What's the selling price?
    How many months?

Oh wow 75%... that is highest I've seen. I would have guessed it would have gone down in the 60s.

    Thank you for your help!

One more quick question... when negotiating a lease - is it possible to negotiate better terms than the monthly specials that lexus offers ($349/month, $2999 down for a AWD is250 MSRP 42,400)?

  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 235,188

On the advertised leases, there is usually a little meat left on the bone. Most of the IS250 leases assume a dealer discount of $1000-$1500 off of MSRP. Between that number and invoice is what you have to work with....

Basically I'm wanting to know what is a fair amount for the dealer to make on the deal... So if the Invoice is $39,467 and the MSRP is $42,400, is $40,000 a fair sales price (leaving the dealer enough to make $500)?

Can't speak for your area but here in southern CA, folks are getting discounts of around 12-15% off msrp - probably works out to 1000-2000 below invoice. I recommend you visit the various auto pricing sites to see if you can determine what people near you are paying. That way you know how to proceed.

Good luck - hope it works out
