Just a little tip for those looking to score the absolute best deal. When every dollar counts, avoid TrueCar. TrueCar has a vice grip on every dealership out there that uses them, and the dealership has to pay a "referral" fee of $400-600 the moment that you complete the form on their website if you end up completing a sale with that dealership. Fully knowing that, the dealership is going to ensure that amount is marked up in the deal to offset the cost.

Just a word to the wise for car buyers out there - get their market values off their site without inputting information, even print it off if you want too... but don't print the certificate and go the whole way through. Just gonna screw yourself over in the end.

Looking to lease a 2014 EX-L with Nav. Currently offered 36 months 12k miles with first payment TTL out the door for $379.68/mo including tax (9% LA County). Is that reasonable for this region or should I keep contacting other dealers? This was based on true car price of 28374 including destination and doc prep. Thx

If I plug in the $30,835 MSRP and $28,374 selling price into my calculator with a residual of 55% and MF of .00045, I get a pre-tax payment of $337.48 for 36 months.

Add 9% tax, and we're now at $367.85.

You may want to check with your dealer to have them break down the numbers a bit more.

Looking to lease 2014 EX-L CVT sedan no navi for 36 months, 12k/year in northern California.

Offer #1 is MSRP 29,060, selling price 25,491, 1250 drive off includes 1st month, 311.96 for 35 months, including 9% sales tax. I believe he said 500 dealer contribution toward cap cost reduction. 595 acquisition, DMV (should be around 275), and doc (80) all included (somewhere).

Offer #2 is MSRP 29,060, selling price 25,291, net cap cost 25,886 including 595 acquisition, 453 drive-off for DMV+doc fees, 318 per month, including 9% sales tax for 35 months (1st month paid by dealer).

2 is lower by almost 600 over the life of the contract, but can I do better? Thanks.

Not sure what's going on with the font.

Using the residual of 57% for 36/12K and the MF of .00086 for Northern CA, the first deal works out to $309.71 with tax.

Deal 2 is a bit higher - $317.43 with tax.

If they are using the base MF, then the only way to reduce the payment is to negotiate the selling price down, or put money down (which I don't recommend, by the way).

For NJ buyers, I would recommend taking the Price Promise certificate from Edmunds.com. Planet Honda is giving 2014 Accord EX-L (without Navigation) for $234 per month, 0 down, 0 due at signing. MSRP is 29060, Backing these numbers, the selling price is 24095. I am going to visit them on Thursday to see if they really honor this certificate or not.
Also the certificate does mention that additional discounts may be applied which leaves room for further negotiation on this price. My 2 cents.

Thanks ... so, using your MSRP and selling price with the residual of 55% and the base MF of .00045, I get a pre-tax payment of $445.41 for a 36 month lease.

The $35K MSRP seems awfully high - Edmunds shows MSRP on an Accord V6 EX-L with nav as $32,910. Where does the $35K come from?

I have the best quote using truecar.com from Anderson Honda in Palo Alto, about 5000 below msrp.

The best quote I was able to get in the Bay Area was from Avery Greene Honda. I submitted a quote request via from Edmunds for a 2014 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L V6 Auto (No Navi) and I was sent an email offering $26,286 (MSRP $31415). I ended not going to this dealer because it was 75 miles from where I live. I used Edmunds Inventory site to locate the car at a closer dealer (Hayward Honda) and I was able to get a price match. So I decided to pull the trigger because it was Easter Sunday and I was sure I couldn't get a better deal. The monthly payments came down to $341 per month + drive off of $885 (DMV fees and first month) for a 36 month lease with 12K allowance.

The money factor and residual are fixed, as should be the MSRP. So the major variable is th selling price. You should shoot for invoice - check the Accord Prices Paid discussion for more information, and use th pricing tools at the top of the page as well.

That residual doesn't seem right.. The residual on V6 EX-L sedan w/NAV should be 54% for 36mo, 12K/yr. So, either the residual amount is wrong, or the MSRP is a typo.

Using that MSRP and residual, the payment seems about right.

    .00045 MF and 58% residual for 36mo, 12K/yr.

If I gave you a 10K residual before, that was a mistake. Honda doesn't offer an 10K/yr allowance.

There is $500 lease cash on this car, and the possibility of $750 flex cash. I would certainly ask for $1250 under invoice, and see where it goes. The actual price should be somewhere between invoice and $1250 under.

CAR LEASED!!!. Got the 2014 Accord EXL without navigation from Autosport Honda, Bridgewater, NJ yesterday. MSRP - 29060, Invoice (so called) - 26650. Selling price - 25600. Doc Fee (299) + Acq fee ( 595) + MV (308.5) + Taxes on monthly payment (660) = 1862 rolled into the lease bringing the monthly payment to 315 for 36 months 10k miles per year. No optional accessories added to the vehicle.
I am having terrible buyer's remorse though now because I could have waited for 1 more day and then tried to negotiate a better deal on April 30th but again it was a 50-50 chance and I really needed the car asap.
Any thoughts on whether it was a good deal or not?

$315/mo on a $30K car is pretty good. $900 below invoice is a great selling price.

Hi all. In need of some help. Looking at a 2014 EX-L with nav. Was originally provided a quote from Honda Manhattan of $313 down/out the door and $313/month. In writing. And clearly represented as including all taxes and fees. Received the actual lease agreement tonight and its not what was quoted. But now that I have the agreement, I'm trying to make sense of it all.

I've attached the agreement and tried to highlight what I think is important below, but I'm having a hard time making sense of things. If I'm calculating right, based on the reported actual invoice of $27479, it seems I should be able to do better than the $346 monthly they're detailing. What am I missing?

Cap Cost (includes $595 acquisition less $500 "customer rebate"): $27809
Taxes (Cashdown, tire and upfront): $1166.36
    Residual: 17267.
Registration, Doc and Inspection Fee: $160

I'm trying to get back to that $313 down and $313/month number they originally detailed for me but I'm having a hard time making sense of the numbers in the agreement. The acquisition fee and what appears to be another fee noted as "rebate as cap reduction".

    Someone help?!

  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 235,200

There is $500 of lease cash on the Accord. That's the "rebate". Every AHFC lease has an acquisition fee of $595. Looks like you are paying $27,714 minus the $500 rebate, for a net selling price of $27,214. If the invoice price is indeed $27,479, then their might be a little more room, but the difference between $313 and $346/mo. is $1100. I don't think you've got that much more room to bargain..

The numbers as they present them add up to $346/mo.

Actually. Through some other excellent information I was able to find on Edmunds, I think I've figured things out. They're basically claiming that invoice is higher than it actually is. If I calculate the payments based on the $500 lease cash and $750 flex cash, things work out to be exactly the originally quoted price of $313 down and $313 a month.

Just wondering if the $500 lease cash is still around for May. I've got a price on an Accord EX-L (no Nav) for the following: MSRP $29060 Sale Price $24970 + $595 Acquisition Fee ($25565 total) Residual $16,564 (57%) MF is.00045. This is for 3 years 36K. No mention is made of the $500, but it might be buried in the sale price.

    Help,

I've been in the market for a 2014 honda accord and this so far the best deal I found. Please tell me of this is a good deal.

I have a 2011 accord that has $975 in remaining payments and 4200 over the allowed mileage.

Open road honda proposed this to me

Eat the remaining payments, waive the miles, I put $2000 down ( +$500) flex cash) and payments will be $260 to the penny.

The residual amount after the 36 payments will be 15,126. This is for a 2014 honda accord ex sedan. I want to know if this is a good deal or can I negotiate anymore?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 235,200

Considering the $1500 they are eating on the old car, that seems pretty darned good.

But, what is your mileage allowance? No point in going with a lower allowance, if you are going to go over on this lease, as well.

Money factor depends on which state you register in. .00045 or .00086. $500 lease cash.

The lease cash is not the same as flex cash. Flex cash is from a different pool of money that dealers can add to your deal.

    Residual is 52% for non-NAV.

I am looking to lease a 2014 Accord LX, auto with standard equipment in Texas. Looks like the Honda nationally advertised special is for the car at 19925 cap cost with $2499 down, 36 months at $199 at 12K miles/year. This sounds like a decent deal except I would like 15K miles. What should I negotiate for? Should I shoot for 15K at the existing numbers? Or?
