Didnt know if the email would work so ill post it here also. I don't think im getting that good of a deal. What do you think? 14 se w/sun 2.5 36m 15k zero down 375 a month. Thats at .00029 and 46%. Selling price is 23446.

MF and residual for the Passat SE 2.5 is .00009 and 46%. Dealer is marking up the MF on you for extra profit. I'd need to know the MSRP of the car in question to run the numbers for you.

The other one is is a 14 tdi sel premium 36m 15k 800 down which cover first payment and whatever else. 508 a month at .0063 and 52% selling price is 33200

TDI is .00043 and 52% - again, dealer is marking up the MF on you.

I think I'm getting hosed quite a bit.

The numbers I'm quoting for MF assume top tier credit.

Ideally i would like to have a 14 tdi se w/sun for under 375. What is the mf and r% for that car at 36m and 15k. Is that a feasible monthly payment#?

    .00043 MF and 52% residual.

Appears that your dealer likes to mark up the money factors by .00020 (assuming you have top tier credit).

The TDI doesn't have any incentives, but the SE/2.5 has $3250 of dealer lease cash. I think your dealer is trying to take advantage of you.. If you have an MSRP, we can at least take a guess at what a decent payment would be. If you know the selling price, you can see where there is negotiating room..

Msrp of the se/2.5 is 27310 per the dealers website. But the car originaly had rear DVD in both headrests. They said they took it out and put it in another car. http://www.donjacobsvolkswagen.com/VehicleDetails/new-2014-Volkswagen-Passat-4dr_Sdn_2.5L_Auto_SE_w/Sunroof_*Ltd_Avail*-Lexington-KY/2046678433

What are the negotiated selling prices of both the 1.8T SE and TDI SE? Do you know if those negotiated prices include the lease cash?

I Dont really know. I did get quotes for the se 2.5 and the tdi premium. The se 2.5 selling price was 23446 but the gross cap cost was 24071. 455 doc fee 625 acquisition fee. The msrp was 27310 but like i said the car had rear DVD head rests that they took out and put in another car. So i would think the msrp should be less then 27310

The tdi premium was 33200 455 doc fee 625 acquisition fee. Gross cap of 34270 Msrp 34460

Using your gross cap cost and MSRP with the MF of .00009 and residual of 46%, I calculate a pre-tax payment of $322.97

The tdi premium was 33200 455 doc fee 625 acquisition fee. Gross cap of 34270 Msrp 34460

With these numbers and MF of .00043 and residual of 52%, I get a pre-tax payment of $476.63.

    Se 2.5 msrp 27310
    Se 1.8t msrp 29360
    Se tdi msrp 29730

You can check the "Passat Prices Paid" forum for that kind of information - I'm not in the market, so I don't know.

Start at invoice minus any lease cash and see if the dealer bites.

I'd work from the other direction. Find out the invoice price using the Edmunds pricing tools at the top of the page, then subtract the lease cash from that number and present the offer to the dealer.

Thanks guys for the help. I think I ended up getting a pretty decent deal. 14 se 2.5 with sunroof msrp 27310. Got the selling price down to 22284. 36m 15k zero down 35 payments left for 325 a month includes lease and 6% sales tax. They still ended up using a mf of .00019 instead of .00009. It seems like they ended up going below inovice on the selling price. Using edmunds info invoice is 26115 and as of yesterday the total dealer cash was 3750 because of a 500 additional incentive from vw. The TMV was 26075 and I ended up under the TMV minus the total incentives. I guess they are making there money on the fees and hold back. Who knows what other incentives vw is giving the dealer tho.

Hi - I am looking to lease a 14 passat v6 SEL Premium. They are giving me a monthly payment of 389 based off a 30k selling price, .00018 Mf, and 47% residual. This is a 12k miles lease for 36 months, upfront payment of 2000 for TTL, doc fees, acq fees.

    Is this good?

Looking for MF and residuals for a 2014 passat SE with sunroof and navi 36 mth / 10k and 39 mth / 10k miles, respectively.
Also, looks like the incentive this month for this car is $3000 - is that correct? Thanks so much!

sorry to clarify, this is for the 1.8 SE with sunroof and nav. Thanks!

MF and residual match my numbers, so the dealer isn't marking up the MF on you, which is good.

Alright - here's how I ended up with my Passat V6 SEL Premium:

365/month, 36 months, 12k/year using MF of .00018, residual of 47% and 2k upfront (tax, title, registration, dmv, Acq and doc fees, and first month). Ended up getting 4500 off MSRP off the bat with current offers and then talked down a couple more $$. Bay Ridge volkswagen in Ny. Talked to Alex and Frank, no bs to the chase.

Could I have the current residual and MF for a 2014 - 1.8 L - SE - Just a straight SE, no sunroof no nav. Dealer is quoting me 49% for residual and I thought it should be 52%. Please confirm. Thanks.

Base MF for the Passat 1.8T SE is .00005 and the 36/15 residual is 47%. If you are looking for a 36/12 lease, then 49% would be the correct residual.

Just got myself a new 2014 Passat S TSI. Manual Transmission. 24 month lease, 10,000 miles for year. 0 drive off (includes 1st month payment and registration - they used $500 cash incentive) remaining 23 months at $229 per month, including taxes. I'm in the Bay Area. What do you think, guys?

There is either $3250 or $3000 of lease cash on this model, depending on whether it's a 2.5L or 1.8T model. So, your selling price should be lower by at least another $1000 more than that..

Hello again! Thanks for your input. Sorry I disappeared for a while... I had a kid in-between! Went back to the dealership and they offered $309 a month for a 2014 Passat 1.8T SE with Sunroof, $0 down, 36 months, and 12,000 miles per year. They also offered $302 for all the same except 10,000 miles per year.

MSRP is still $27,785. They are using a 0.00005 money factor and a 49% residual (51% for the 10k/yr). They seem to be applying the $3,000 lease cash you mentioned, as well as the new $500 Memorial Day bonus, but not as much selling price reduction as you suggested. There is a $688 destination fee but no sales tax (live free or die). All in all, do you think these are good deals? Is there room to lower the monthly installments? What should be my final offer for them?

Again, thank you very much for your help, you have already saved me a lot of money!

Looking for some advice. I have two offers on the table from two different dealers for a 1.8 T SE w/Sunroof. 36 mo 12k mi.

Dealer 1 - No money down except 1st payment $280 mo. They will pay my last month payment on my expiring lease (different make) but I have to turn it in and risk any excessive wear and tear, I think I'm in pretty good shape but have never turned in a lease and walked away before and not stayed with brand.

Purchase price is between 22 and 22.5k money factor is .00005 and residual is 49%

Dealer 2 - will take my expiring lease as is, no questions asked, basically buy me out. In exchange for that they are offering 1st month payment down at $280 but only offering a 48 month lease. I did not get to see all the numbers on that offer.

I have a few questions. What is the money factor and residual on a 48 mo 12k mi lease and is the difference in the two offers above substantial? And should I be overly concerned about the wear and tear fees I may face when turning in my expiring lease? Lastly, what do you think the chances are that VW extends the $3000 lease cash into June? Thanks.

  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 235,175

    .00067 MF and 42% residual for 48mo, 12K/yr.

It's hard to compare offers, when the terms are different... I can't tell you whether to be concerned about wear and tear, because I don't know how well you take care of your cars.. It's always a worry, but I've turned in quite a few leases, and never had a negative surprise (yet).

I wouldn't want a 48 month lease, though... too many changes can happen in that length of time, that might change your driving needs. Also, much more likely that you'd have to replace tires and other wear items in that 4th year..

    Hello,

I am looking for RV/MF on following cars on 27/36 months. I was told that they do not offer 7.5K miles, if so, on 10K miles. Also, what kind of incentives I can expect from them.

    Cars

2014 Passat SE with Sunroof and Navigation 1.8L

    2014 Passat V6 SEL Premium

2014 Passat TDI® Clean Diesel SEL Premium

Sorry for a list but trying to figure out which will give us best value for the buck...
    Thanks for all your help.
