Are you putting any money down? If not, that seems like a really good price. My rough math would put invoice somewhere around 45.5k, so less the 2k incentive you're at 43.5k, meaning you're under invoice. Curious other people's thoughts on this as well, since I'm looking to buy an x3 this week from NY or CT. I expected $500 over invoice (+ maco and doc) to be the target, so it'd be great if there's more room.

On the monthly payment, it looks like the dealer may have made an error in the residual. I also get $505 as the pre-tax payment.

    Nope - 54% is for 15K miles. 56% for 12K miles.

Not putting any down payment. They corrected the residual to 56% but tried to raise the MF to .00125 and slightly adjusted the sale price. Thanks to this forum I made them adjust to .0012 so monthly payment dropping a few bucks. @skoot1027 I priced at multiple local dealers and they were offering around invoice -$2000 dealer cash from May. But stock is very limited. I just emailed all local dealers, so easy. This was only one w black and all options I wanted.

As a 5th time purchaser of BMW, I'm appalled at the offers I am getting for a 2015 x3 sdrive. My dealer just told me "we mark them up 6% and we will split that with you." Offering to give me 3% of MSRP, is this a joke?? That's $1,500 off MSRP. I feel like I'm being taken advantage of. Don't I get some loyalty discount given that I'm on my 5th lease with them? Makes me want to leave BMW altogether!

When I plug your MSRP and Gross Cap cost into my formula with the .00130 base MF and 57% residual, I get a paymentof $693.68 after 9% tax.

How much of the $4000 drive off went to cap cost reduction?

    Please rate my deal:
    2014 X3 28i
    $48,725 MSRP
$42,900 discounted purchase price (includes $2k BMW build-out credit)
    -$3,100 trade-in credit
    $39,800 sub-total
    +$3,060 taxes
    +$29.50 tag and title
+$299 documentation fee - what is this????
    $43,188.05 = $512/mo

Also, if I have an drive rebate of $1,000 how would that factor in - $1k off the bottom line? Thanks!

In Colorado, would the emissions test be included/already performed before purchase?

    THANK YOU!

    A few questions and comments:

    1) Is the trade in credit being used to bring down the cap cost? If so, I would recommend against it - if the car is stolen or totaled, you are out that money. Instead, use MSDs to buy down the MF to lower your payment.

    2) Only the payment amount is taxed in Colorado - what does the $3060 in taxes represent?

    3) The $299 doc fee is additional profit for the dealer. I know that Schomp BMW does not charge a doc fee, but they are also a 'no haggle' dealer so I'm not sure you could get as much off the sticker price.

    4) The $1000 rebate should be applied to the negotiated cap cost.

    5) What is the lease term and miles per year? I cannot calculate a payment unless I know.

The cap cost reduction was $3072. We also got a net trade in allowance of $1499.75 on our turn in vehicle.

The $4500 combined would reduce your payment by about $125/mo on a 36 month lease.

Hey, I think I've finally gotten a decent deal. Please give me your opinions.

    2015 X3 sdrive28i

    MSRP 47,675
    Edmund's Invoice - 43,850
    Sale Price - $44,000
    Cap Cost - $44,725
    minus 1k drive event credit
    Adjusted Cap Cost - 43,725

    10k miles
    .00133 money factor
    57% residual
Base payment $554.03 plus 6% tax in FL = $592.81

Drive off - $1407.20 includes sales tax??, first payment,, license/registration fee, small doc fee (he reduced price more to make up some).

So, how would you rate this deal??? Should I pull the trigger?

  • fllcfllc Member Posts: 37

The numbers work out exactly as you quote them - pre-tax. My calculator shows $587.27 with 6% tax added. MF isn't being marked up and you are getting a pretty good discount from MSRP. Seems a solid deal from where I sit.

I was turned down by two dealers in Seattle, money factor I was given is .0017 which is ridiculous, and 1000 off MSRP, WTF. There is no negotiation space, I am looking into other options

Hello, may I please have the latest residual values and money factors for a top tier borrower for the X3 28i, 36 months, 10k miles for the 2014 and 2015 models?

This is a great thread. I'm about to lease a 2015 BMW X3 xdrive28i that came out to an MSRP of $47,375 + 6.25% tax = $50,335.93. I need help on lease pricing. They have offered $686/mo with $2500 down, which seems high after reading this thread.

What would be a good 36mo, 10k mile/yr lease price on this car?

    Thank you!

What is the negotiated selling price? See above post for MF and residual on 36/10 lease. MF can be increased by the dealer for additional profit.

We didn't discuss the negotiated selling price, we only talked about the lease payment number. I see the money factor and residual of a 2015 - .00133 and 57%. Just wasn't quite sure how to move forward with that information.

    Thank you

The MF can be marked up by the dealer for more profit; don't sign any deal that includes a marked up MF. You want to negotiate the best selling price, just like you would for a purchase.

Those are your two main levers. Residual is fixed by the finance company and MSRP is set by the manufacturer.

Thank you! I went back and negotiated with that in mind. I got the following revised offer (Texas tax is 6.25%):

    Vehicle Price (MSRP): $47,375.00
    Savings: - $3,125.00
    Vehicle Selling Price: $44,250.00

    Title Fee: + $33.00
    State Inspection Fee: + $23.75
    Documentation Fee: + $122.50
    Road and Bridge: + $10.00
    Balance Due (estimate): $47,351.75

    Cash Due / Monthly payment || $941 /$694 || $2,000 / $663 || $3,000 / $633

.00133 money factor, 56% resid (said taht's what they have from bmw).

    Good deal?

Sorry, didn't realize this was Texas, where they collect the sales tax for the entire purchase price up front - or roll it into your cap cost.

Using your numbers, I get a payment of $676.64 for 36 months and $0 down. Base MF is being used, so that's a plus.

I am in a situation right now on a 2015 X3 lease where I have to make a decision. My local dealership said their absolute best is $1k more on price than I can get from driving an hour or two to another dealership. I've had 3 other dealerships that can give me the pricing I want, but they refuse locally.

So, is it worth it to get from a nearby, but out of town dealership, for $30 less per month and $300 less upfront. My local dealership even had the audacity to say you know "service won't go out of their way for you if you don't buy here." Such passive, aggressive BS!

I know this is a subjective decision, however would others drive the hour to another dealership for the deal??

  • driversedgedriversedge Member Posts: 36

That's $2100 you're saving to drive an hour out of the way? I think the choice is clear.

Yeah - Texas isn't fun that way -- the tax is killer. Thank you so much for the help. I got them down even more based on this and am finally at a price I think is appropriate and low. Final is $639/mo incl all taxes etc for 36mo, 10k mile with $2k down (we would rather pay a bit now than per month b/c of our other finances).

This is a great thread -- thank you again.

    Cheers.

Just out of curiosity, everyone is looking for a 36month lease. Is there a reason why no one is interested in shorter term for 24months? Or are short term leases not available through BMW?

BMW does offer 24 month leases, but the difference in residual doesn't make up for the shorter term. For the xDrive 28i, the 36/15 residual is 54%, while the 24/15 residual is 60%.

It seems like many of the lower end cars have a better residual. I think escape and cx-5 have around 65% to 68% for 2 years. It's interesting to see that higher end cars loose value faster.

I'm in the process of trying to help my father-in-law lease a 2014 or 2015 X3 sDrive28i. The lease term would be 36 months, with 10,000 miles per year. Can someone please confirm that that money factor and residual are .00133 and 57%, respectively, for both year models?

Also, are there any incentives going on right now, for the 2014 and/or 2015 models? I have leased a number of BMWs in the past (5) and been able to take advantage of being a return customer, a USAA member, and the USA drive event to get a pretty significant cap cost reduction (usually around $1,500 off). My father-in-law is not a current BMW owner or USAA member, and has not participated in the annual drive event. I'm wondering if there are any other incentives that he can qualify for and/or whether the dealer can give him credit because of my status as a current BMW owner. I'm also wondering if there are any incentives coming down the pipe that may justify holding off for a month or two to get a better deal.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

    The 2015 X3 sDrive28i is .00130 MF and 57% residual. I don't see any 2014 numbers (was the X3 available in sDrive for 2014?)

There really aren't any incentives... your best bet is to negotiate the lowest price you can. Your guess is as good as mine about what might happen over the next few months. I don't think you can lose by waiting.

I'm sorry... we don't have all of the BMW information, and I'm not seeing a lease program for the 2014 X3.

    Hi,
After several back and forths with a couple of dealers I finally got the following deal. Please give me your opinions as I really need and appreciate your feedback. I wish you success with your research.

    _2015 X3 sDrive28i
    MSRP $42,700
    The offer:
The selling price will be $39,700

    residual 54%/15k miles.. MF .00130..

total fees down are $2,668.68 for the base payment of 543.87 plus tax.
These figures include all fees, plates, and tax as follows:

    Plates $668.64 (approximately)
    Doc $389.00
    Acquisition $925.00
    Misc $20.25
    Sub total… $2002.89
Tax $121.92 ( the $76 is part of front fee tax)
    1st payment $543.87 (pretax)
    Total Fees $ 2668.68 (down)

Rolling fees in to the lease for a 100% zero cash due at signing = $623.99 plus tax 36/15 on a 2015 X3 as you built at an MSRP of $42,700.00_

Could you please let me know what does the front fee tax mean - never heard of it and I suspect it is there just to partially compensate for $3K discount.
Also does the rolling of the fees into the lease seem correct to you? To me it seems that they've tried to build another $150 along with the $925 vs. $725 acquisition fee to compensate for the same discount they agreed on.

As you've noted, they've bumped the acquisition fee on you - but, they are using the base MF, which is good.

My calculations are the same as yours - $543.87/mo for 36/15.

What state is this in? Some states have taxes and fees that others don't... I don't see anything wildly out of line in your breakdown of your upfront costs (plates, first payment, acq fee, doc fee (profit for dealer, should try to negotiate a lower selling price to compensate)).

Have you talked to the dealer about possibly using multiple security deposits to reduce the MF?

    Looking at leasing a 2014 BMW X3 36/10k. Car is dealer used 6,000 miles. MRSP=47,000 Sale: 41,500

    • MF: 0.00130 Residual: 57% I'm planning to use max MSD to lower MF. Any suggestions about "6,000 miles dealer used" and what is a reasonable sale price and residual? Also, how much do you lower the MF with maximum (I think it's 7 payments) MSD? Thank you.

Usually you can deduct .10-.15/mi from the residual. Each MSD lowers the MF by .00007, so a total of .00049, which takes your MF down to .00081.

I think BMW uses $0.30/mi. to lower the residual for cars with over 500 miles at inception. So, for 6K miles, you'd need a discount of $2000 over the selling price of a brand new unit, to make it worth it.

BMW dealers definitely sell wear and tear coverage, though I'm not sure it's sponsored by BMW. Most policies only cover up to $5000 of charges, while costing around $1000, so it's not a very good deal, in general.

I've turned in two BMW leases, and never had to pay a penny...
